Owners Eva and Jim are awesome and have operated the bed and breakfast for many years now and it was such a pleasure to meet them during my stay as well as meet their family and super cute energetic smaller terrier dogs. I was in the Papaya Suite and definitely plenty of space, with a separate bedroom, kitchen bathroom, and the living room! And did I mention, the great breakfast food and other snacks in the provided basket as well as fresh fruit, cereal, milk and other items inside the refrigerator and freezer? Definitely saved me time and money from having to drive to the nearest bakery or market! Yes, this is a real Bed & Breakfast and definitely worth every dollar! There are three other suites available for booking and there is usually no minimum stay required except during certain times of the year like the holiday season or special local events, for instance. Also, guests are offered a 10% discount if they pay in check/cash versus charging to their credit/debit card, and I opted to provide Eva with the check. You will also find two common areas, and one of them is right outside the Papaya Room on the ground level where there are other tables, chairs, and a BBQ. The other common area is upstairs on the lanai, where there are more tables and chairs, and ultimately a lovely view of Kihei and the West Maui Mountains! During our stay in the Pineapple suite, the restroom/kitchenette/bedroom were organized and had plenty of space for two people. It was easy to feel at home within the first few minutes after settling in. Eva was easily accessible for questions about the island/ local recommendations and was more than accommodating for our breakfast options (fresh local fruit, pastries, coffee, etc.). There was also onsite laundry, swim gear, and sunscreen/mosquito repellent. Whatever Eva was managing with guests, we also observed that Jim kept up with quick repairs/maintenance on the property. My partner's favorite part of this stay was the fruit and their dogs!!! I too loved their fur babies in addition to the view from the second floor deck (phenomenal during sunset). We are truly impressed with the hospitality and welcome that these seasoned hosts provided.

We explored many other hotels while we were on Maui, and honestly, none of them compared to Grand Wailea. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, expansive, and classic. I don't agree with the reviews saying it feels run down. It isn't ultra-modern, but it has a grand, timeless, classic resort feel. The beach out front is amazing. We explored a lot of beaches on Maui, and I never found one I liked better than the beach at Grand Wailea. The resort itself also feels unmatched in size and beauty. No other hotel we saw had the same expansive grounds, pools, landscaping, and overall resort feel. That said, the biggest downside was how much everything felt overpriced. I understand Maui and luxury resorts are expensive, but Grand Wailea sometimes felt like it was nickel-and-diming guests. Valet parking is $75 per day, and when you add in tipping every time you retrieve a rental car, it gets frustrating fast. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, valet was also very slow. One night we waited over 25 minutes. The valet staff were clearly working hard, but they seemed understaffed for the volume of guests. The food pricing was also hard to justify. At the marketplace/counter-service options, we saw coffee for $7.50, hot dogs for $26, hamburgers for $32, and 12-inch pizzas around $30. You also often have to wait in a long line, and if one person is making coffee drinks, it slows the entire line down. Olivine looks beautiful, but the prices were extremely high, including a personal sausage pizza for $38. Considering the mixed reviews, we could not justify eating there. While we were there for over a week, the resort restaurants looked quite empty every day. I truly think if the restaurant prices were even 30% lower, many more guests would stay on property to eat instead of walking across the street to places like Manoli's or Island Gourmet. The pool area was beautiful, and we appreciated little touches like seeing free pineapple passed out at the pool one day. The idea was nice, although the execution could have been better since the server was putting wet pineapple chunks directly into people's hands. We also wish the waterslides stayed open later, especially for families. Grand Wailea does offer free Nespresso coffee in the room, which is nice, but after seeing one too many social media videos about people misusing hotel coffee makers, I personally can't bring myself to use in-room hotel coffee machines anymore. One extra service I would gladly pay for is a paid hospitality suite or shower room option for guests with late flights. So many flights out of Hawaii leave late at night, and after checking out in the morning, it would be incredibly helpful to have a clean, comfortable place to shower and freshen up before heading to the airport. Overall, we loved Grand Wailea and would absolutely recommend it. The staff, room, beach, pools, and grounds were wonderful. I don't understand all the bad reviews because our experience was very positive. The resort is beautiful and memorable. My only real complaint is that the food, coffee, parking, and extras are priced so high that it pushes guests away from spending money on property. Full restaurants would be more profitable than beautiful restaurants sitting empty.

We were in Maui for our wedding and then honeymoon and Rick & Dale made sure that we were enjoyed our entire stay! First let me say, we are in our mid to late twenties' and this is wonderful place is for all ages, especially if you are looking for a more romantic/private feel away from the touristy resort area (though Eva Villa is only 5 mins. from some of Maui's best beaches). Eva Villa was our tropical oasis! When we first arrived we were greeted with Rick's warm welcoming smile! He has a way of making you feel like family. He introduced himself, showed us around our cottage, then went over some local restaurants, things to do, pretty much helped us plan our entire trip! He also was so sweet and had champagne and a card waiting for us. My sister had called him and asked if he could buy these items as a wedding gift to us. He even wrote in the card for her. C'mon, who does that? Just so sweet! Let me also mention, even before we arrived Rick & Dale were so helpful through email. They told us where to find the cheapest rental car, explained that it would be best to buy tickets for our Luau ahead of time because they sell out, and answered all sorts of other questions we had. What I loved most about our stay were the beautiful early mornings. You wake up to the birds singing right outside your window. So enchanting! We would fill the bird feeder and would watch the finches eat away. We had fresh fruit every morning, yummy bagels and muffins, and delicious coffee. This place really feels like home! Rick & Dale do give you your privacy and ask you to contact them when you need more fruit, or breakfast items. We had made a joke about wanting a papaya because we had just finished the last one, and literally the next morning Rick went to the market and got us papaya! You can tell Rick & Dale have a lot of pride in Eva Villa and in what they do. The day we were leaving we had to check out by 10am because there were guests coming in after us. We had about 4 hours to burn before we had to head to the airport and Rick & Dale let us come back and shower in one of their empty suites after spending the afternoon at the beach. How freaking nice? You don't find that type of hospitality just anywhere. I highly recommend this place to anyone. We hope to return for a future anniversary. Things I loved: Beautiful neighborhood (great for running, awesome hills), close to beaches, close to great restaurants, fully equipped kitchen (we cooked dinners a few night and had everything we needed), affordable, Monkey Boy(the sweet cottage cat), Hot tub & Pool, outside shower, washer & dryer, beautiful grounds, Extremely clean, Plenty of soft towels, and Rick & Dale(Two of the sweetest people in all of Maui)! My wife and I were both able to enjoy all of the views and all of the sites that were pointed out to us by our amazing driver/guide/new friend Patrick! If you're driving yourself, you're missing out. From the moment we booked this the owner, Dana, was exceptional in her communication and assistance in making sure this was the right tour for us. Patrick did an excellent job of taking care of us customizing our tour and making sure we saw everything we wishes to see and things that we never would've dreamed of seeing! In the past, I've had some challenges with motion sickness and had mentioned this to Dana, and upon arrival, Patrick had actually set up so that I could ride in the front seat if I was worried about the motion sickness issue. While I decided to ride in the back with my wife, it was a very thoughtful way to begin our day. There are too many stops to call them all out, but one that really will be remembered is when Patrick took us to be up close to Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees and picked us fresh strawberry guava's, that we had never had before, but they were wonderful. Patrick also provided some insight for stops that we would've never thought of such as Uncle Russell's Legendary Huli Huli Chicken for an awesome lunch and for amazing Dark Chocolate at the all organic self sustainable cacao farm East Maui Chocolate. Sampling cocoa, roadside stand with amazing banana bread and coffee, black and red sand beaches with a swim in the ocean, and swimming at the base of a waterfall. The stops we made were not overcrowded with large tour groups. While the road is very curvy, Jackie's drove so well not one of us was car sick (and two of us easily get motion sickness). Towels, snacks, bandaids, drinks were all provided. A well planned, comfortable trip. Truly an amazing experience. If you are visiting Maui, this is a must do tour.

They provide a solution to any issue for myself or my guests, often within minutes or at the most 24 hours. They have connections to all the trades and can get a plumber, handyman etc over to my property often the same day, which is critical to keeping up the level of service I want for my guests. (Producing a repair person on the same day is no mean feat in the islands.) They are personable and professional, a pleasure to work with, and charge far less than a traditional property management company. I recommend them highly to any vacation rental owner.
