Camden, Pricilla, and Christina were epic for Halloween makeup. We wanted a very over the top beauty look with glitter covered neck and shoulders and beautiful eye mask like makeup. They did a phenomenal job and were so fun and kind. Make sure you bring lots of inspiration photos for them to work off of. It took 2 hours and the cost was reimbursable in product!!! So worth it. I can't wait to do it again. Let it be Halloween every day. Camden is the head of the artist team and he teaches classes there too. I want to do the editorial fashion makeup course. read more

Love shopping here. Everything is very neaty organized and the staff are more than accommodating. I was in search of a foundation that actually matches my face. I told one of the makeup artists, Faina, that I was currently wearing foundation that doesn't match my face on both my neck and face so she helped remove it and then find one that matches my skin tone and texture. She also helped me find a great highlighter and showed me how to properly apply and remove the waterproof "aqua" makeup so as to not cause excess damage to my skin. I told her I fill in my eyebrows and she matched me with a gel that they carry that is waterproof. I've been using it for two days now and loveeeee it. I hit the pool a lot and no one likes having their eyebrows wash off after a quick dip. I can't wait to come back for more trinkets. read more

I have put off writing this review for months because it's such a bummer to be reminded of the awful experiences I've had with this shop, from bad product recommendation to upselling to overcharging my credit card. Know this: I love the product line. Also, I'm a fucking idiot at make-up and standing up to unfriendly girls. Look, I'm totally fine with gruff service, I kind of love it in the right context, but in a make-up shop... not so much. Anyway, I came here one day and asked for a non-shimmery dupe for Nars Orgasm. In other words, a pink blush with a touch of peach. The sales girl had this unnervingly brisk, surly customer service style that was kind of intimidating. She steered me towards something that looked very peach. I was skeptical, but she said it would look different once applied, and she put it on herself, even though we have different skin tones. "You can't try it because you already have something on," she said. Like an idiot, that made sense to me at the time. I decided to get the blush. She immediately talked me into buying a quad compact for the blush, more than doubling my purchase. Why the fuck would I need a compact for FOUR colors when I barely wear any make-up? No idea. I just nodded along dumbly because I don't know how to deal with life. Of course, I get home, the blush is way peachy and all wrong for my complexion. That was on a Friday. Come Monday, I head off to the store to make the return. The girl handling my return is downright hostile. Without saying a word, she takes my products and swipes my credit card. I stumble out onto the sidewalk like a sad oversized ghoul and walk two blocks before I realize that she never gave me any kind of return receipt. Usually, I don't care about that kind of stuff, but something inside me was on high alert, and I grudgingly listened to it and went back to the store. At the store, I asked for the receipt. The girl rolled her eyes and said it was in the garbage. She assured me that she had refunded me the whole amount for the purchase of the blush and the compact. Then to my surprise she went to the garbage and dug out the receipt and laid it on the counter and said, "Do you still want it?" She said it like it was a challenge, and she was looking at me like I was crazy, and I did feel kind of crazy. I looked at the crumpled receipt and said, "Nah, it's okay. As long as it was a full return, I'm good." A week later, I see on my credit card statement that she only returned $20 of my $30 purchase. I try to forget about this injustice. I really do. Because what the fuck, it's $10. But a dark gloom hangs over me, and I feel like I need to do something about it. So off I trudged, a third freakin' time, to the store. This time, a totally pleasant associate greets me and takes down my name, credit card number, and all that information. She says she does not have the authority to credit my purchase, but will have someone else do it and then call me later that day. I'm feeling a glimmer of hope, like I finally asserted myself in front of the mean girls, and won some self-respect. God, maybe I could even eat at their table in the cafeteria some time! Sure enough, later that day, I get a call from another pleasant lady who says everything has been righted. She tells me to wait for a while before checking my credit card for the refund. A few weeks later, I'm looking at my credit card bill, and THERE IS NO REFUND. NOTHING. VOID. BLACKNESS. INFINITY EMPTINESS. LIFE IS HORRIBLE. EVERYTHING IS BAD. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. Products: 5-stars Artist Relations/ Customer Service: 1-star I was truly excited when I began working for Sephora and learned about Makeup Forever. The quality of their products is amazing-- they cater to almost every skin type, their foundations are build-able, and the pigment of their products is very rich. That said, I was extremely disappointed to find that their pro artist system lacks organization, and their artist relations team lacks the willingness to help. After applying for a pro artist card and being accepted, i tried replenishing my makeup kit at the MUFE store. When it came time to pay, I wasn't on their system. I called MUFE about 8 times in the next 2 weeks... As their reps consistently gave me the run-around on my application. They said it was in the system, yet they had no idea why it didn't show up when i tried shopping in the store. They hung up on me when they didn't have answers, or put me on hold for other reps to deal with. It wasn't a great experience to say the least, and i do receive the MUFE emails since i provided my email address on my application. I wish their system was more efficient-- i love MUFE products, but that experience did not leave me with the best impression of the brand. read more

The best cosmetic company in the world. Dany Sanz is a genius. I'm happy their little boutique in NYC has a very intimate vibe to it. I like how most people don't recognize the brand. I'm happy it hasn't become a repetitive chain like MAC has. 90 percent of what I use is MUFE. My everyday staple is the waterproof eyeliners in pencil and cream base. I love their HD foundation and concealers. Doesn't make me break out like other brands do. The staff are extremely informative and friendly. They will also be opening an education center soon! Make Up Forever Products: 5 stars Customer Service: 2 stars When I heard that Make Up Forever opened a boutique in the US, I was pretty excited. But unfortunately it was in New York, which was pretty out of reach since I live on the opposite coast. So when I finally made some time to visit NYC, I made it a point to visit this boutique and check out all the MUFE products. Let me just start that I am a make up fanatic. Make Up Forever is one of the best brands out there, unfortunately, Sephora is the only store that carries it near me. Obviously that means a very limited selection and colors. When I heard about the boutique I imagined a MAC pro store, except with MUFE products, so that really made me excited. However when I got here, it definitely did not meet my expectations (in terms of customer service). The boutique was set up in a way that made it seem like they didn't carry that many products. I looked around for a while and no one really offered to help me (I was the only one in there and there were at least 3 workers). So I waved someone down to help me with the concealer selection, turns out she was new and had no experience with MUFE products. Great... All the other workers didn't bother to assist me... and even though this girl was really nice and ran back and forth to get my questions answered; it was a very disappointing experience. So after awhile I just decided to swatch everything just to get an idea of the product. Now with that said, if I were to be a make up novice and had no idea what I was looking at or how to use it, I would've walked out. The only reason why I stuck around and bought anything was because I know how great this brand is. Another thing I noticed about this store was that their sales representatives don't wear that much make up. The girl that was helping me only had concealer, blush, and mascara on her. It looked like I wore a lot more make up than any of the girls in there, not to say I was extremely made up at the time either... The only reason this bothers me is that I think if you're a sales rep of a make up brand, you should be all dolled up. AWESOME EXPERIENCE. I went today in desperation as I had an accident with a glycolic peel gone bad and had HORRIBLe pigmentation issues that needed help. I bought products at sephora and MAC but it still showed my scarring and it was so obvious that I had a ton of product on my face. I went to MUF as a last resort and so grateful I did. I was always intimidated by the product line bc i thought it was only for professional stage people but i was so wrong! The store was calm and I was greeted immediately by a wonderful and talented makeup artist ( Etzel is her name I think, rhymes with pretzel) who was so helpful. She sat me down and pulled out some products and knew exactly what to do. I already had some MAC concealer which she also Incorporated and the end result was fantastic. It looked natural despite having six layers of product but more importantly I felt confident and looked like myself. No hard sell at all but I bought everything bc it was worth it. I give Makeup For Ever 3 stars because I love there products! I was so excited to see the boutique! I usually get stuff from Sephora so on my 6 day vaca in NYC I made it a point to get to the boutique. I actually went twice because the first time we went was on a Sunday and they were CLOSED which I found weird but whatever... we made it back on Monday! When I entered the boutique ,me and three of my girlfriends, it looked and felt empty! I looked to the back and saw 1 makeup artist she looked at us and walked up the stairs! I couldn't believe it NO "HI", "Welcome", nothing first thing that entered my mind was "OK I see she pissed cause we look better that her" ahahah(Serioiusly). So anyway we proceeded to check out the products took a few pics and were just enjoying the experience. About 5 minutes later another artist came from behind the reg and said "oh HI, can I help you girls"? So I asked a few questions and decided I would get a palette and some eyeshadows! So I picked everything out I wanted and had to go back up to the register to ask her to come assist me! She did and discovered the palette I and my 3 girlfriends wanted was sold out!! So now I'm a bit annoyed the store is empty and you showed me this specific item and you didn't knowit was out of stock!?? I was so disappointed but I bought my shadows and we left. The service here was very poor! the staff was not polite, they showed me items they didn't have ,offered to take my info so they could contact me when the item arrived (it's been almost 2 weeks and I still haven't heard from them), and just did not create the environment I was looking forward to experiencing had they been a lil' nicer I would've bought much more. But the service in NY has a way of making you not want to spend a dime! SO SAD! I get better customer service on-line and it's nonexistent! read more

I was really excited to visit this location while visiting NYC because I read they do custom blended foundation. I'm very very pale and neutral, and have a hard time finding any foundation that matches. I wear Revlon Colorstay because I LOVE the formula and it lasts FOREVER, so I mix it with white and say screw the color. ANYWAY, the store was totally empty when I came in, and I said I wanted a new foundation and to be color matched. I had to ask for her to remove my makeup (because it didn't match me, so how could she match me?) and she begrudgingly did so, but instead of using one of their makeup removers, she just used alcohol, which a). is NOT strong enough to remove colorstay and b). make my already dry skin feel VERY tight and dehydrated, and red. So now I have a red, dry face, and the only thing she focuses on is how dry my skin is. I said yes, but that's only right now, normally it's way better, but she didn't listen. She wanted me to dry the face and body foundation, even though I specified the HD foundation and that I wanted medium to full coverage. She didn't listen to anything I wanted and used the F&B plus concealer all over my face.. the concealer didn't match and the foundation, and it was ALL WAY too dark. I finally convinced her that I wanted the HD foundation. She went to color match me, but just picked the shades at random without really looking at my undertone. I told her how I have a horrible time finding foundation pale enough and neutral enough, and she ignored me and said "well don't go to the drugstore"..... I told her that I've tried EVERY brand available to me, high-end included. She picked foundations that were clearly too dark and way too pink for me. I even asked to go outside with the mirror and it was SO obviously not a match, but she tried to convince me. The ENTIRE time she was applying my makeup she was insulting the face of makeup I previously had on, which was Revlon Colorstay and NARS Creamy Concealer. She kept telling me it was "cakey", looked "caked on", would "melt immediately in this weather" and I was stupid for buying drugstore foundation.. I had been wearing my makeup for 8 hours already that day and I can tell you with 100% certainty it looked the EXACT same as when I had applied it that day. She also said "yeah when people like you get acne you feel like you need to layer it on but it just makes you look like you have makeup on". Firstly, I didn't have a single pimple, and I'm NOT acne prone. I do have hyper pigmentation spots, which is why I want the coverage. Secondly, it's MY BUSINESS if I want to have a full caked on face of makeup. She put on such thin layers it didn't even cover my scars (they honestly aren't hard to cover), which may have been her preference, but it wasn't mine and I told her that. I just feel like she did a lot of complaining and insulting, and she was VERY rude to me when I said I wanted to take time to decide. I had to go back to my hotel and take the makeup off and re-apply my own, because the color was so bad. She also didn't put the rest of my face (blush, highlight) back on, so I just looked stupid. I knew I wanted the water activated ones and they said the grease were better. I took their word for it, just to find out the makeup doesn't last as long. I made a purchase of $150.00, they were really nice the first time. Today is a different story. They hardly cooperate with me or even acknowledge me. I'm disappointed to know that they don't even mind to work with me, exchange products or even suggest a better option for what I'm looking for. I called to place an order several times and more recently with Janice who was extremely helpful, personable and great product knowledge! She was nice enough to check if my rouge intense was in another shipment before sending it out. I received a courtesy call from her advising it wasn't in stock. But it would save me the trouble of wondering why I didn't get it! I was so happy with her customer service! I called her back to see if I could add more items and she was more delighted to do so! I went to Make Up For Ever to buy foundation. My previous one was not good for my skin and I had breakouts. The woman helping me found my foundation color. She didn't pressure me into buying foundation. Instead, she sent me home with 2 samples and told me to come back when I made a decision. This was so helpful to me because I did not know which one to buy. After a couple of weeks trying the two and asking my co-workers which one looked the best, I made a decision and went back to purchase it. I went there last saturday on the 18th- feb-searching for studio style unique clown make-up had lots of questions being that my personal make-up artist swore by this place-so went in- the extra cute little red head girl with blue eyes was helpful- tried really hard to bare with all my questions- products are "expensive"-for waterproof stuff being that i sweat plenty and my shows are normally sold out I took my chances..We went on and on and she showed me all I needed-I was" Muy EXCITED" until I got to the desk and almost 75 percent of what i needed was not in stock but in boxes in the back that I believed was delivered over days-not sure -But{ I cannot Have} because they still have not opened or gone through shipment-on a "saturday" my upsell went to hell-and so did my sweatshow- but guess what--the eyeshadow did not drip in my eyes and my lip makeup neither-all the colors where amazing!!! All I needed was the white makeup for full head cover and some small other things hopefully today they will have all out of boxes and in stock---The girl with the red long hair was right on!!! Very sweet-and tried{{{it's not easy dealing with tons of people got it.. Loved this store! A friend bought us a class where we got schooled by Roshar. The class was awesome and we got to apply make up to models and have it photographed by Brandon Showers. After that, we got to get make up in the amount of the class fee. Fun! Being an armature, I forgot my brushes at my friend's house and was really upset but Janis hooked me up and let me use her brushes. She was truly an amazing professional! I generaly do not take the time to write reviews because everone's experience with a vendor is very much subjective and generally comes down to personal contact with people. I wanted to say a few things about the store in general that it was very well organized and product was very much easy to get to and identifiable by its display. The staff in general was very welcoming and my sales provider (Fiana) was friendly, helpful and very enthusiastic regarding the product. As a consumer when I feel confident with someones knowledge about their craft and the product my trust is gained and with that my loyalty and purchase dollars. Not once did I feel the pressure of an (upsell) which always is a turn off .This boutique has earned my respect. I would also like to mention that the manager Karen was very personable and approchable and has built hereself a fine team of knowledgeable sales staff. I'm happy to report that their products are wonderful! I walked in looking for foundation and walked out with - the water blend foundation, pro finish powder, concealer, sculpting blush, mascara, and more! I had a great experience at make up for ever. For YEARS, my foundation never looked right. I don't know if i am too olive or warm? But I find that my foundations usually look too orange on me or turn muddy. I can never find the foundation that fits my skin color, until now. I made an appointment for a makeup application and Nancy did my makeup . She was very knowledgeable and detailed, she asked me a few questions about my skin type and condition and proceeded to mix a PERFECT shade of custom blend foundation for me.
