I sell gently used Filipino blow dryers at prices that would piss off a lot of people, and I am always on the lookout for a wig that will be able to handle the horsepower coming out of my handheld wind machines. Wigs and Plus always seams to be armed with an assortment of wigs that can take the kind of gusty sucker punches I toss at 'em. Pink, Blond, Red...don't matter. They all take a lickin, and keep on tickin. I have tried everything I could think of to beat these faux- folicals into submission...and these wigs don't flinch. Their hours are posted as opening at 11 AM on Sundays, however, that is not the case. I arrived at 10:40 AM and stood around until 11:00 AM. The lights were out and not one person was inside. At around 10:56 AM, this tall skinny black girl was standing directly across the street from the beauty supply store on the phone. They did not even care to apologize or to try and move in a manner that they cared about the fact that they were late. No one apologized or carried. Update: 06/21/2023 10:55 AM So update I won't be going into this overpriced "beauty supply" store ever again. As much money as I've spent in here over the years just nasty. The Indian people were approachable and professional but that old Spanish lady that has been working there FOREVER is just nasty! I was about to spend $40 on 6 bottles of hair rinse but since she was too lazy to get the wig out the window for reference I'll go buy it elsewhere. She going to say she thinks it's the last one which means she wasn't even sure. Now what if I was buying the wig in the window she would have had to get it out just lazy, nasty, and miserable If you don't like your job then quit. Can't wait till they go OUT OF BUSINESS BEING UNPROFESSIONAL. This isn't a business that I've said this about they haven't gone out of business that had terrible customer service. This is the most unprofessional store I have ever been to in my entire life.Last night I went into this store for the first time. I spent over $100 on 3 half wigs and was NEVER TOLD THE EXCHANGE POLICY, usually when there is a sketchy policy it's always told especially to first time customers. When I got to my house none of the wigs look anything like their displays when I tried to exchange them for the exact same priced hair I WAS TOLD NO but a very rude and unsympathetic "wig manager" . I have been to some of the best hair places in the city one including BELLAMI which is literally one of the highest quality of hair and even they allowed an exchange which is why I will always RECOMMEND THEM but wigs and plus absolutely garbage and I can not wait for it to go out of business. read more

I came here recently with my elderly mother to get her a wig for her Halloween costume as she wasn't able to celebrate it the past few years due to covid. Horrible experience the moment we entered the store. The front door had a sign that said mask required for entry, but nobody inside was wearing a mask besides a few employees. This is a big concern as my mother is at a higher risk due to her age. The employees did not even attempt to enforce their mask requirement. When we attempted to ask for help, the employees were dismissive of me and my mother. I understand that my mother has an accent, as English is not her primary language, but this does not mean that the employees should be mocking her accent openly and telling her to speak English. Very rude and racist employees. I voted for Eric Adams hoping that he would keep his promise of ending racism, but NOPE! Still experiencing hate for being Asian. Especially in a store where the employees are people of color as well. Will not be returning again. We left and walked all the way over to Bellami, where we had wonderful service. The cheap prices here reflect the service that you get. You get what you pay for. read more

Pretty terrible place. They have a limited selection of wigs that are fine if you're ok with it looking a bit "wiggy"... the problem is the staff. They aren't helpful at all and don't want to help you. They will treat you as if you're interrupting their day. Just total bad vibes. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Every time I have came to this store I have been followed and interrogated. This place was recommended to me by stylist friends and it did not disappoint. I bought my first ever clip-in hair here and had a fabulous experience. I needed hair for a performance and wasn't sure exactly which shade/ length would work best. Fortunately I was assisted on the floor by a very helpful and patient salesperson who checked out my inspiration photos and pointed me in the right direction. Make up, nail polish, hair products, but as you find yourself to the back of store, they have hair color, and walls and walls of wigs in every color and style imaginable. Prices start at $20. I was skeptical at first to come here because of the poor reviews, but after going to 3-4 Ricky's and them not having what I need, I was so glad I finally forced myself to go here. I was looking for Wella toners T14, T18, and 050, but all the Ricky's I went to didn't have it or was sold out. Such a bummer. Luckily this place had a bigger stock and sold the product even cheeper than what I had previously got it at Ricky's. Great customer service! This place offers as abundance of cheap, synthetic wigs good for one time wear. i say one time because they're very cheaply constructed and tangle into an unfixable mess after one wear no matter how careful you are. They barely let customers touch the wig because of how easily they become this way. Despite this, they don't give discounts for buying wigs off the mannequins if you buy the last one. Every other shop elsewhere does this. It's giving cheap and money hungry that then don't knock off even 10% for buying wigs that all is 14th st has tried on. Won't be coming here again. read more

I went here on a rainy day and not one person in the store spoke to me or asked if I needed help. Like I was literally invisible. I am a professional, well dressed and mannered person. These workers were so engulfed in their phones and selfies; it was absolutely appalling. I walked out and ended up buying my new wigs at $200 each elsewhere. They lost out on my business. I buy around 4-6 wigs per month. Your employees need to take professionalism classes. Don't go here if you need help. I went back here after the owner reached out and I did get a welcome from the staff, but that's as far as it went. I'm sticking to Amazon and or I'll go to Jersey. Pretty good selection of wigs in back and beauty supplies in front. They do NOT have a styling salon- you can't get a wig cut or restyled. The sales associates are very nice and helpful. I bought a synthetic lace front wig after trying on a floor sample and when I got it home the color was a little different, although the label was correct. Look at the packaged wig and compare it to the floor sample before paying, because by the time I noticed the color difference I had already opened the package & put the wig on, so it was too late to return it. Really disappointed in this place. I've been wearing hair extensions for about 9 years now, so I feel I'm pretty experienced when it comes to hair quality/prices/longevity/etc. I stopped in one other time (a few months ago), but left empty handed because I was in a rush and the place was pretty busy. Ok, no biggie, it actually made me feel more confident about making a purchase because it seemed the place had a large clientele. I finally went back in last week and purchased a set of 18" clip in hair extensions. For starters, the clip in selection was VERY limited, and they only had a handful of sets that were longer than 18". I usually go for AT LEAST 20", preferably 22", however they didn't have my color in either of the few sets that they had in those lengths. For scope, my color is #1, so I was a little surprised that they didn't have what seems like a pretty common color in stock. I was talked into a 10pc 18" in my color, which totaled $175. I was a little put off by the price, because of the length and because the hair didn't feel like it was worth more than $120, however right before the holidays - I was desperate. It's been only but a week, and the hair is absolute trash already. Knotted, matted, no longer soft. It's as if I've had this set for months and constantly used hair spray on them or something. Neither of those scenarios is the case, so I'm left dumbfounded as to how this could be. Ive only cared for them the same way I would any set of hair, and that's with gentle hands and a special hair extension brush. Like I've said, I have 9+ years experience wearing hair extensions, and these are equivalent to the type you'd buy at a random beauty supply store that you're only planning to wear once for your best friends wedding, NOT for daily use. That being said, I'm highly dissatisfied with my purchase, especially because of all the great reviews here. What gives?? 2 stars because they do indeed have a large selection of other beauty supplies, but I don't think I'll ever return to explore it. read more

This is a great find around this area. The place has nice selections of beauty supplies, hair products, extensions/wigs and so much more. Passed through to take a look at hair and there are quite a few options in different texture, color, styles, and prices. You can also try on up to 4 wigs with purchase of stockings cap ($2). Unlike the reviewers who did not have such a great experince, our customer service was great. The ladies that were pleasant and patient although my girlfriend and i arrived 15 mins till closing to try on wigs and shop for some products. The overall prices on supplies, products, and hair were good. Nothing more than what i would normally pay for curly hair products such as Camille Rose, Carols Daughter, Shea Moisture, Deva Curl etc (range btw $10- $25 depending on product) and of course there many other options. I wear my own hair super short and never bought a wig before. But I thought it might be a sexy surprise for my husband. They have a huge selection of both synthetic and real hair. I got a synthetic one (that frankly, was cheaper than a lot of lingerie!) AJ was a huge help in selecting it. She showed me how to put it on, take care of it, and even trimmed the bangs for me. This is my go-to beauty supply store! Great, helpful service from a friendly staff. I live in Queens and there are plenty of beauty supply stores that would be more convenient for me to go to. But I don't mind coming out to the city to be able to shop and not be followed around like a criminal. They're also one of the few beauty supply stores that I'm aware of that have black employees! That's important to me. I'm from the school of "don't shop where you wouldn't be hired." I know, I know... If it's your first time buying a wig, come here! Wigs were necessary this Halloween and showing up on a Saturday at 1pm was a bit overwhelming but we purchased our wig caps for $2 each (you need to buy these to try anything on) and were paired with the nicest woman who helped us figure out what wigs looked best in our price range. Came in looking for a bowl cut, walked out with long pink and blue wigs and silver fake eyelashes, talk about fun! This wigs stayed on all night and were surprisingly very comfortable. Know before you go, you are required to have a sales person help you try on the wigs and may only try on 4 max. No returns or exchanges. While our wigs were $40 each, it was a much better option than going across the street to party city for something extremely low quality. read more

I would have given this place more stars if it wasn't for the poor customer service. I was buying a wig and went to pay the $2 for a wig cap to try on, only to have an employee tell me there was a $10 card minimum...despite the fact that I was literally about to buy a $50 wig. Very few people go try on wigs alone just for sh*ts and gigs. I explained I was about to buy one but she was not having it. "There's an ATM across the street and around the corner," she responded with infinite sass. Ok, risk $50 of sales because you won't make an exception on the card minimum, and be rude on top of it... in terms of selection- pretty good but prices are a little high for the quality. read more

I walk up to the guy who is standing in front of the extensions as request my colors and lengths. Immediately he is like "we don't have that". So I politely point out what I think is my request. Then he passes me I to the female employee who easily understands my request. Then back to the original guy to pay. There's a 10% on Yelp for wigs. I ask if this eligible. He says "no that was for November 1". It doesn't t say that anywhere. At this stage I don't want to deal with this guy who starts ringing up someone else's order as well as mine. I have to keep an eye on him and politely tell him what items are mine. So seriously, if you know what you need. Come here in an absolute pinch. Otherwise take you business elsewhere. I've been here twice supporting someone going through chemotherapy and losing hair. She's on the butch end of things, so it was kind of hard to convey to the salesperson we worked with that she wanted a boy style haircut. However, we were able to select from the hundreds of wigs they had on display several styles that were close enough to boyish styles for my companion to choose from. Customers are required to buy a $2 wig cap (this is great) in order to try on up to four wigs. We sweet-talked our salesperson into letting her try on more than that since she was going to buy two. We found two styles, one a little more funky, that work, $40 each. It was a little more expensive than going online but definitely worth it to have a chair to sit in front of a mirror. We went back a couple weeks later to get a really fun wig and tried on their extensive collection of colorful wigs and got a Joan Jett styled one for $30. This is definitely the best place to shop for wigs that I've been to in NYC, though still not a home run. I wish the sales team were a little more flexible in their knowledge base about wig needs for all kinds of people not just girly girls. Since we want to be HONEST. The service was not that great but I was trying to be optimistic and say less then anything else. I did not mention why you didn't accept my card because it is no ones business. Plus it had nothing to really do with the rating of how horrible and slow it was of a service. The card issue only made it THAT much worse because in this day and age it would be your best interest to up your security to have allowed me to use my phone to pay. If it was my husband or father or whomever I might have said it was it would have been the same exact issue. P.S. The hair as I said was not that bad. But I stick to my answer I did not like the service when I was offered hair of the shelf instead of me having to INSIST going to get a new one at the price it was being charged. read more
