So this was my first time working with face candy studio. I was celebrating my 30th birthday and needed my makeup done early for photography and my birthday brunch. I sent a picture of the look I wanted and made arrangements to have my service begin at 7:00 with a set up time at 6:45.. and at exactly 6:42 Kanika was outside my home. We started at around 6:55 and was finished in about an hour. Not only was she professional she was fun, friendly and helped me start off my birthday right! I don't usually wear makeup with the exception of mascara here and there. However, you can't play mas at Cropover or anywhere for that matter of fact without getting your makeup professionally done. I decided to go to Barbados for Cropover last minute and scrambled to find a makeup artist in Barbados. I came across Face Candy Studio through sheer luck while searching frantically on google. Luckily they had a few slots open on the day of carnival so I immediately jumped at the chance and booked my session. They offered air brush and the regular option. I opted for airbrush. Upon arriving at the hotel where they were based for the day, I noticed that they had a pretty smooth and efficient system: there were multiple makeup artists, each contributing to making you flawless. What I mean by this is that you had one person doing your lashes, another doing the base, foundation, another putting on the jewels on your face etc (forgive me for not going into more details, I just don't speak the language of makeup well). I showed them a photo of the look I was going for along with my costume as they inquired about these little details so they could deliver on making you look your best, and they delivered without any issues. Outside of being professional, all the makeup artists appeared to genuinely enjoy their job, which I think is essential in order to get quality work done. Needless to say of all my friends who got their makeup done elsewhere, mine was the only one that lasted all day through jumping up and down, dancing and sweating like a pig. Some of the jewel came of my face BUT only because one of my nuisance friends kept taking them off just for the fun of it. I have been looking for a MUA for quite some time for a big event that I was attending. I normally don't wear makeup, but for this event I want some glam. I asked around and then I searched on Instagram, because let's be real if you're not on the Gram, Facebook or some other social media platform, what are you really doing. Anyway I really didn't want this to take up so much of my time or get overwhelming. I also didn't want to have to go out to get my makeup done. I need a traveling MUA. I searched social media and of as you would imagine there are endless MUA's. I quickly narrowed it down to a few and FACE CANDY STUDIO stood out, because really liked how they gave you a look but was natural and beautiful, and the faces were glowing but not loud. That is what I liked most. On the day of my event it was myself and my daughter getting our makeup done. Karin our MUA the the event was very punctual and professional and nice. She made us comfortable even not being regular makeup wearing people. She was giving our needs and the looks we wanted and she completely nailed it for us and we were transformed. They were very professional, detailed, and kind through out the entire process but why give them only four stars?? Here's why They had a number system: 1 or 2 for Eyes 5 or 6 for Face and lips 8 or 9 for Gems I had several other girlfriends get there makeup done here for Miami Carnival 2018 and while there eye makeup was pristine and flawless, my eye makeup didn't show well in pics...at all.I was excited at first, but then saw other eye candy and was feeling as if I had the short end of the stick. They did have every color of the rainbow, except for my lip color. My lip color had to be played with. I didn't want to play if safe, it's carnival..YOLO! Both of the women were super sweet but I wasn't exactly bubbling with joy. NOW, the rhinestone application could of been way better, especially with those ladies that purchased a ride on there party bus to the fairgrounds. I had a 10 am appointment. There was a certain process that I was in play, a number system, but because some women had to get on the bus, I could not get the full unlimited gem application I payed for and wanted. A third women jumped in and did my face but still, I had an earlier appointment than the women that scheduled for the bus and should of had the option of what I wanted instead of settling due to timing. If they would of scheduled all of party bus girls earlier and my eye makeup look would of lasted longer, 5 stars easy! My airbrush was flawless, my stones were great for what I had but I wish my eyes popped and lasted more. i would most definitely use them again but I'll bring in a picture of what I'm aiming for as I mostly left it in their hands, which is what I mostly do as i get my makeup done professionally often. read more

This review is clearly waaaaaaaayyyyy overdue seeing that its my one year anniversary already! Kanika and her crew were so easy to work with. Their online booking system is so easy to use and the customer service was impeccable. All of my emails were answered within an hour of sending them and I always received a call before a service to make sure that everything was set to go. I used them for my engagement shoot and even used them after the wedding for a gala I had to attend. On the day of the event, they arrived earlier than the start time and got everyone (9 total) done when they said they would be done.
