This is the best service I have ever experienced, in any industry and any circumstance. Stephen acted more like a good friend helping me out rather than a businessman with his own commercial interests. I needed to sell my car but I live in Manhattan so it is parked in a parking lot 10 minutes from my apartment. The garage needs 30 minute advance notice to bring the car to the front so there was no way I could have shown my car to multiple buyers at the underground garage even if I didn't have a full time job and family and kids. Solus was the solution. It is the best way to sell a car in NYC. Let me tell you what my experience was. Firstly I contacted Stephen about 4 months before I knew I was going to have to sell the car (family size grew so we outgrew the car) and we chatted over email for a couple of days about how his service works, we also just chatted about kids and other cars we had owned and he just seemed like a thoroughly decent and trustworthy person. This was important because when it came time to sell my car I had to trust him enough to hand over my keys, a virtual stranger that I had met on the internet, and watch him drive away with my car. The process is that he takes your car to a fenced-in parking lot in Queens (it is the parking lot of his church where he is a pastor, seriously), so from that point on I was no longer paying for my Manhattan parking garage. From there he takes it to a franchise dealer, BMW in my case, where he gets a trade in value. We had already discussed what he thought the trade in value would be and what he thought the sale value would be so I had a pretty good idea what to expect before I let him drive off with my car. As it turns out the dealer took a very negative view of some cosmetic damage to my car and quoted a much lower trade in value than we expected so Stephen offered to take it to another dealer for a valuation but we ended up just agreeing a trade in value that seemed fair to both Stephen and me. This trade in price is the minimum price that Stephen now had to sell the car for because he would take a percentage of anything he got over that value. He then took photos and posted the car on various online sites. He manages all the enquiries and phone calls and scheduled for people to come and view the car. He kept me up to date on how many enquiries he had or what showings he had done. Fairly soon after, he showed the car to someone who made an offer, he passed the offer on to me but recommended that I reject it because it was still early and he thought he could get more. The buyer upped the offer to a price that Stephen and I both thought was fair and the deal was done. It was so easy for me to be separated from the negotiations, much easier to hold firm on price than if the buyer had been right there in front of me. The buyer went home to arrange insurance and bankers check etc and arranged to meet Stephen a few days later for the hand over. At this point Stephen came to my apartment to pick up the title documents, which i now signed and gave to him. Stephen arranged to pick up the buyer in his car from the train station and take him to the car where they did the handover. The whole thing was painless for me and got me a higher price than if I had traded it in and probably a higher price than if I had sold it myself because he was just better at it than i would have been. From beginning to end it had taken 4 weeks and Stephens fee was only slightly higher than i would have paid to park the car in my Manhattan garage for that time anyway. The whole experience was so positive that I almost wish I had another car to sell. read more

This was easily the best car buy experience I ever had. Even better than when I bought my first car off my friend. My family was about to get bigger, so I needed a minivan, but was on a budget, so used it was. I had already been looking into it on and off for a few years now. Each time going to a dealer, being totally unsatisfied with the idea, and giving up. I had an Accord, that I was thinking to trade in too. I rented a couple minivans before, 3 different makes and models, so I had a general idea of what I wanted. I'm a no hassle, time is money type of guy. Meaning I hate buying cars! The haggling, the back and forth, the hours of research, the last minute additions to the cost, etc. I HATE it. I had gone to one dealer and had the worst experience of my life. I was ready to stick with the Accord and hope a miracle minivan would kind of just fall on my lap. I admit when I tried Solus, I was a little skeptical. After talking with Stephen, I felt comfortable he knew what he was talking about, and realized I knew nothing about minivans. He taught he a lot about each make and model and trim. When I finally decided on the Toyota Sienna, we went to test drive them to see if that's really what I wanted. I watched him negotiate with dealers, and let me tell you knowing we weren't going to buy the car, it was definitely a sight to see. He asked questions I wouldn't dare to ask, like "how much do you mark up your cars?" and "Who is you biggest competition in this area?". During one test drive, he even noticed some things that were off about the minivan (as if it was in an accident that was reported) and pointed it out to me. Finally he told me how much he thought my car would be able to trade in for based on estimates the dealers gave, vs how much he would be able to get if he sold it for me. I ended up getting invoice price for the minivan, with some customer incentives which ended up covering tax. He went to the dealer, checked out the minivan, negotiated the price, and whatever else it is that's needed to buy the car. I just went up, test drove it, then paid for it and drove it off into the sunset. He drove my car off, and sold it for me, because we decided I could get more money from it that way.
