Fortunately enough I was referred by a fellow collegue to try Best Buy Auto Leasing as he had been dealing with them for a while. On my first call, I was connected with Ahsan Kalam, who took me over all the options and the other vehicles which were in my budget. He was very calm and we had been going back and forth for 2-3 days during which he kept me updated and presented me with the best pricing options availaible. He was a pleasure to work with. The experience was lackluster at first, but was turned around and ended well. The long version: I was looking for a family vehicle, and after looking around a bit, I found that Great Neck Buyers and Sellers Inc had a very clean 2012 Land Rover Lr4 with 81K miles. Listed Price: $16,695.00 I verified that it was there. Kay was very pleasant on the phone. I was coming from 1 hour and 20 minutes away, and scheduled an appointment to test drive the vehicle. I was already approved for the loan with my bank. When we got there we were introduced to a salesman name David. David was an excellent salesman, I have no issues with him. He was just doing his job so I don't blame on him. He quickly let me know that The price was not the real price in that I would have to add $1,995 down payment to be at the price. So the vehicle's actual price was: $18,690! Anyway, we where allowed to see the vehicle, but it was not ready for a test drive. I insisted that we test drive, but was brought in to do paperwork instead. I figured ok, no problem. I explained, as we start the paper work, that I was already approved by my bank. That news seemed to trouble Dave, he mentioned that we MUST finance with them. They don't like you buy without financing through them, since the owners make money with the banks and so they require you to finance. But he was nice enough ask for an exception, and he got it. He then proceeded to go though some numbers, so he got a piece of paper and started adding in more fees (he did waive some). By the time we got to the finance guy here is what it started to look like: $1995 down payment $1099 Prep Fee $295 Doc Fee (waived) $525 DMV Fee (insane) The straw that broke the camel's back was when he mentioned a warranty, and I told him that I had one included in my bank's financing. He had to ask for permission to waive this as well. When he came back, he introduced me to Kazi, another salesman there, who politely explained their warranty policy (that you must buy one from them), he offered that he would ask the company for permission and give me a response the following day. At that point, I explained that enough was enough, and that I did not agree with their style of operation, and would be looking elsewhere for a vehicle. So I left. About 45 minutes later, I received a call from Kazi requesting the opportunity to make everything right. He promised to have the vehicle ready for test drive the next morning. I agreed to discuss it the next day and see. Kazi called me the next day as he said he would. I explained that I felt that since I was fortunate enough to be approved with warranty already, that I did not appreciate such of what i felt was a run around. He was very apologetic, and courteous. I asked him for the no-nonsense price, and he told me 18,500 plus tax and tags. I took a day to think about it, and agreed to test drive and if all well, purchase. Kazi was off on the day that I went in to test drive and purchase. But he made all accommodations for me, so that I had a pleasant experience when I went back. I did. David had the vehicle ready to test, I did, and agreed to purchase. From that point on, I worked with David and John, the owner, whom were both professional, and courteous for the entire transaction. In the end, I purchased a fine vehicle at a decent price, from professional and courteous people. My only qualm is with the process, the added fees, hidden down payment, and the required finance and warranty, but at the same time, if I was not preapproved with a warranty, I would have had no issue with the latter. All is well that ends well!! I recommend this dealership, just be ready for the parameters stated. What cannot be understated is the professionalism of all three gentlemen, and especially Kazi for reaching out to make it happen. Thanks to David, Kazi and John.

After an hour of back and forth they still couldn't figure out how to process the sale. I am walking out frustrated and with no car just out of principle. They didn't even know what a smog check is!!! What was supposed to be simple was a pathetic effort on their end. I walked down the street and purchased a vehicle with no hassle within 45 minutes! Stay away from them!

UPDATE: I recently found out more how unethical Mark acted when doing my current lease. I spoke…read morewith 3 different, unrelated leasing agents about getting out of my current lease & into a new one, & found out that the bank Mark used to get me my car has ENORMOUS penalties if you try to end your lease early - so now, a year into my lease, instead of having about $10k positive equity in the car as would be normal, my buyout is $10k MORE than the original MSRP the car cost! I'm sure he knew this was something that happened with this particular bank & he ALSO knew he was getting me out of another lease early at that time & he never bothered to inform me that if I used this bank, I would NOT be able to with this car. I now believe that when he realized that I was serious about getting another car before my current lease is up, he either purposely ignored me or quoted cars outside my budget because he knew he wouldn't be able to get me out of my current lease & didn't want to have to explain to me why. ORIGINAL: I got a car with Mark & it went OK, but there were a few issues even in the beginning. There was a lot of back & forth on getting the proper insurance paperwork. Every time I got it, he remembered something else that needed to be on there & I had to call Geico yet AGAIN to get the documents revised. It felt like it was his first time doing this when I'm sure most of these things are routine. He also didn't show up when I went to get the car, but sent his younger brother instead. When I got to see the car, the entire bottom of the trunk was scraped and both his brother & the dealer tried to deny there was any damage & only when we showed them it was indeed deeper scratches that were not going to "wax off", did they try to offer a fix. I was able to get it fixed on my own, but I didn't appreciate the leasing agent trying to lie about the damage just to make his buck. This is not the first time I've leased a car with an agent. Previous agents had already examined the car & made sure all car mats, paperwork, etc were there before I even got there. Regardless, I was still appreciative that I was able to get the car I wanted, so I gave $300 cash to Mark as an extra thank you. Now after all the business & the appreciation, with how Mark acted, you would think I'm someone who just came off the street. He has a very bad habit of reading text messages & either taking forever to respond, or, just not responding AT ALL. I tried to address this with him - I understand people can't always have an immediate answer, but at least make a point to respond within a reasonable amount of time without making the customer feel like they're running after you. I also understand that it may not be possible to give an accurate quote as to what a lease would cost until some research is done, HOWEVER if we've spoken several times already about a certain car, & you know that the original quote you gave is inaccurate, wouldn't you let me know that before wasting more of your own & my time on it? I wasted an entire day driving to different dealerships looking to test drive this car only to find out later that night that after almost 2 WEEKS of going back & forth with him, he couldn't find it in the range he had originally quoted me, even though he had supposedly been looking all that time. I continued to try to work with Mark, but being left on read so many times with zero response has left an incredibly sour aftertaste. It appears unless you are the type of client who is going to make the deal easy & not ask too many questions, they don't want to deal with you. Rather be up front & say you can't help, then ignore or string someone along. I would recommend finding an agent who will respect you and your time.

The car was delivered to my front door. Chris handled everything with a professional touch. The price was better than what I would have gotten if I used my best skills. But this is not about price. And then, after you get your price, you get sent into that 'other room' with the shady character who looks like he stole his mother's silverware.
