No tips!

We went to Mak Mak Thai Cuisine on Main St. in Bountiful today to get some takeout. I gotta say, I'm super impressed with this place. The food was well presented and delicious. The restaurant was clean, the cashier was super friendly, and the prices were reasonable. I love that they don't take tips--they just request reviews. Kudos to them and Cheryls Bagels for keeping this trend. We got the Drunken Noodles, MakMak Nam Tok, Chicken Nuggets, and Egg Rolls. The spice level was perfect and everything was flavorful. We'll definitely be back to try new things.

I'm not a sweet tooth at all so the fact that I came back outside of the Yelp Elite event just to buy more of their black sticky rice ice cream says a lot. Made my weekend much sweeter! It's more of a fast-casual spot. The menu is pretty simple with a few classic Thai dishes. The place itself is small, cute and clean with both indoor and outdoor seating (high tops, regular tables, and a condiment setup near the soda fountain). There's ample street parking. Usually packed during evening. The staff were working hard and stayed kind. I'll be back to try their other ice cream flavors and Thai dishes :)

Dropped in on a Friday night at 5:20 and beat the crowd. They do a steady business of both eat in and take out. It's a small space with a small menu. They don't try to be everything to everyone, but they offer all the favorites (except for maybe fresh spring rolls and pineapple fried rice). You order at the counter and the staff are friendly and helpful. Take a number and they bring out your order in plastic containers; not a fan of the waste there. The Massaman was exceptionally delicious. Excellent flavor. The tofu is prepared perfectly. The pad Thai was pretty good, not too sweet. Everything tasted fresh. The bathroom was clean and nice which is always a good sign. Overall I think they've got a good thing going. Simple and sweet for a casual meal.

My favorite place for yellow curry and pad Thai. Clean, comforting, and food that makes you feel good. Nothing better than that.

This space is SO CUTE!! It does have a good amount of seating but while I was there I did see them run out. I went during a busy time so my food did take a WHILE. I got the yellow curry with an egg roll and thai tea and overall it was good. The staff is really friendly and was super apologetic because of the wait. I hope this place does well since it's bringing more options to the Bountiful area which is refreshing!

This was a fun and cute little Thai restaurant that I'm glad I tried. They have a few tables outside was well which is nice because it's not a real big place. The service was pretty quick. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. It was great! Portion size was perfect for me. The spring rolls are crispy and the dipping sauce is yummy. The Thai tea wasn't my favorite. It needed to be sweeter. Overall great place.

This is the cutest little Thai place in bountiful. Right when you walk through the door you can smell the delicious aroma of Thai cuisine. I tried an egg roll, Thai tea and Mak Mak Nom Tok, pad Thai, a fried chicken and rice dish. The chicken was very flavorful and has a nice lime flavor to it. My son and I both loved the egg roll as well. The this tea wasn't my favorite but I'm not much of a tea person. The staff were very friendly and tv place was packed for lunch which is always a good sign.

Good portion sizes and quality taste! Service was quick even though it was busy. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather.

Fast service, but unfortunately food wasn't great. Chicken was overcooked and dry and every dish was swimming in an excessive amount of grease.

A friend highly recommended this place, so we had to check it out--and we're glad we did! The ambience is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff. We stuck to the basics and ordered Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, Pad See Ew, and Mak Mak Chicken. Every dish was packed with great flavors, and the ingredients were clearly fresh. As spice lovers, we requested extra heat--it was good, but we wouldn't mind it being even spicier! For the best experience, we recommend dining in rather than taking out to fully enjoy the freshness. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Each time we have been here it has been delicious. The service is great and the food is incredible. Love that we have an awesome option here in Bountiful!

The chicken drunken noodles are amazing. The place was super busy. Nice inside and seating outside also.

Erroneous specials board
Paige T.

I really like the concept of fast-casual Thai food (points for something new), but this place fell flat just like its two Bountiful counterparts. The specials listed outside were not actually available, so everyone who came in asking about Thai beef jerky was told flatly that they don't have it...then erase the board! When ordering, my husband asked for no onions and his curry was filled with them. My pad see ewe was incredibly bland and disproportionate- about 95% noodles and 5% tiny pieces of chicken, veggies, and eggs. The element that saved my meal was the spice container on our table, which packed a punch! The egg roll was pretty good too, very fresh and crunchy. They only offer chicken and tofu. I'm rooting for them to figure some things out, since they're new- Bountiful really needs a place like this, with some improvements. Will give it a few months before trying again.

Hardly any seating. They ran out of rice! And the food is served in paper bowls. Not my favorite. Probably good for takeout tho.

The food is solid; our group typically gets wontons, spring rolls, noodles, fried rice, chicken curry, fried pork, beef and broccoli, and a couple of seafood-based dishes. I'm not a seafood fan, so I avoid those, but I usually enjoy everything else. The one area I feel like there's room for improvement on: the portion sizes are smaller here than other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Utah, so it's not as much of a bang for your buck.

Really caters to Utah's childish palate, with bland sauces and flavorless meat. We ordered the orange peel chicken, cashew chicken, honey walnut shrimp, ham fried rice and shrimp fried rice, and all I could taste was the salty sauce. The cashew chicken was by far the most diverse plate with plenty of green beans, water chestnuts, peppers and cashews, but the flavorless salt sauce overpowered what might have been a beautiful combination. You couldn't taste any spices or herbs. I could go on. Just know it is definitely white people safe, and honestly, Panda is better.

This location will be dearly missed and we are hoping for a new location to open soon. The favorite was the walnut shrimp, crispy and in a cozy savory sweet sauce. And I'm really puzzled by the high ratings of this place here on Yelp. I had the sautéed beef, which is listed as "Sa Ti" on the menu, so when it was brought out and announced as "sautéed beef," I was a bit confused. While the vegetables were decent, the beef was tough and from the flavor was a cheap cut. The hoisin sauce was not thick enough and a bit too runny like maybe water added.(?) This also made the flavor weak. After the first disappointing bite of beef, I only picked at the vegetables. I didn't finish it nor did I ask for a take home box. In my opinion, looking over at the people at my table (I was at a club meeting), everything looked on the cheap side. They all seemed to enjoy their meals, though. The portions are huge, so you'll get a lot of mediocre food. The service was OK. We were a large party of about 45. They knew beforehand we were coming. We noticed that even though our table was first to order, we were one of the last to get our food. One person at our table got her food significantly later than we did. There was one table that still didn't have their food when we got our checks. Water refills were never checked and neither was my soda. The Dr. Pepper was good... 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!
