This is not the auto shop for minor repairs or for people who have to watch their budget. My car stopped. I thought it was my alternator. The battery didn't seem to be holding a charge. I had taken out and had it tested and the auto parts place had told me I needed a new alternator. I had Pheonix come and get it. They were quick and responsive and all I needed was a new battery that ended up costing me 782 dollars after towing and the 149 dollar diagnostic. I would use them again for any MAJOR issue, but I'll never return for anything I even suspect is a minor repair. Nearly a thousand bucks for a battery seems excessive.

After calling around West Nashville car places and googling for prices for brake pad replacement,…read moreBudget Brakes stood out as having great prices and friendly staff. The technicians were honest and, instead of making money off of me, even declined doing work that I'd asked them to do because it really wasn't needed yet. I was able to get in same-day for quick service. Additionally, the convenient location off of Charlotte Pike and I-40 makes it accessible. If you wait inside the store, there are several chairs and displays of brake parts that can help you understand the work. Cameron was great with customer service.

They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood what my vehicle needed without making me feel pressured or overwhelmed. As a woman, I especially appreciate how comfortable and respected I felt throughout the entire experience. There was absolutely no "talking over me" or trying to push unnecessary repairs. They were honest, straightforward, and genuinely focused on helping me make the best decision for my vehicle. It's refreshing to find an auto service center where you can trust the people working on your car and feel confident that you're being treated fairly. I highly recommend Terry's Service Center to anyone looking for honest, knowledgeable, and friendly service--especially women who want a shop where they feel comfortable and respected!

Customer service is nonexistent at this shop. They take your car for a scheduled drop-off but give…read moreno guarantees on when they'll start or finish the work. Communication is poor, leaving you feeling like you must hound them for updates. My car was with them for 5 business days, during which they only worked on it for 3 to 4 hours and failed to fully repair it. Scheduling an appointment feels pointless. I booked a diagnostic test for my main and auxiliary batteries 3 days ahead of a Thursday appointment. I confirmed the appointment the day before. When I dropped it off Thursday morning, I was assured I'd receive an update "maybe after lunch time." By the end of the day, I received no update from them and when I stopped by the shop, I could see that my vehicle had been untouched. I reiterated my need for the car by Monday, and they said they'd try to look into it the next day. On Friday, I sent a polite reminder and received a curt response saying they prioritize repairs as they arrive. It became clear that appointments are just window dressing. They finally completed the battery replacement on Friday but then found what they believed was an issue causing a battery drain, requiring more diagnostics. A delay in identifying that problem extended my car's time with them. By end of day the following Monday, I had heard nothing from them. On Tuesday, I asked for an update and was promised to be provided a status update before end of day, but they failed to provide any kind of update. On Wednesday, I pressed for an update again, reminding them of the delays. They finally had a tech spend a couple more hours doing diagnostics but still couldn't pinpoint the issue and stated they would need more time (and money) to troubleshoot. After 5 days and minimal progress, I decided to retrieve my vehicle. A nearby Mercedes dealership charged me for diagnostics and found NO issues! Given my experience, I do not trust this shop for future work. They've lost my business and have shown a troubling lack of efficiency and a customer centric focus. From previous reviews, I've noticed that the shop's ownership likes to debate negative reviews (and they get the last word). I've provided all the facts accurately and if Yelp allowed more space for reviews, I'd give you even more details. For potential customers: be wary. They treat new customers poorly, break promises and take too long to perform basic maintenance. Save yourself the hassle--go elsewhere.

I'd been gassing up at the Sylvan Park Shell station for years not really paying attention to the…read moreservice station, or the deli, that comprise this little complex off Murphy Road. But when I needed some serious car help, these guys stepped up big time. I was spoiled growing up to have a father who doubled as my mechanic, and so it was hard to trust someone else with my baby. I'd had the same car since I was 17, and I wanted to keep her around as long as possible. They guys here helped me to do just that. They are honest, up front, and do not BS you about your vehicle. You many not always like what they say, but they aren't crooks. They will tell you exactly what you need done and what they think you should do. They are going to be a bit more expensive than those one-hour-oil-change places but you won't have any issues or complaints after they take care of your car. It's a smaller shop so keep that in mind when planning to drop your ride off here: it will take a little more time but again, you can't beat the results. I can honestly say I wouldn't trust anyone else in Nashville with my car. And if they couldn't fix a problem, they could refer you to someone who could. That happened when I needed a muffler, and they referred me to a fantastic local guy at Batey who did an amazing job. Thanks to them, I was able to keep my older car running for years before needing to get another one. And they are still kind to me anytime I come by for gas. They are good to you and will remember you and help you if you give them the respect they deserve for their hard work and honesty. I would recommend them to anyone who wants not only excellent customer service but good, old fashioned trustworthy service. No one else will put their hands on my car so long as I live here.

Then two weeks later my two front tires looked like this. I asked them if this wear was due to issues with the alignment they performed but they said no, it was due to the "age of my tires." Then they doubled down and also claimed I hadn't rotated my tires often enough and that was the other reason my tires looked like this... if that were the case, why didn't they recommend new tires or a tire rotation on March 24 when my car was in their shop? I did not feel safe in my car after this experience and I highly recommend going to a different mechanic.
