I'm so grateful to have found this repair shop. I'm a first-time car owner and was seeking a second opinion from my local Firestone. Felt out of my element, so Steve not only gave me my complimentary safety inspection, but also invited me to shadow him as he inspected my vehicle so that I could get a firmer understanding of how it works. He was extremely knowledgeable and let me ask questions. Most importantly, he correctly identified a glaring issue that my local Firestone misdiagnosed: my tires were completely bald. I just had my car inspected the other week, and was told that they only had dry rot, and while it was recommended I purchase new tires the day of, I was told that I at least had a month left on them. Steve recommended a Firestone branch he considered reputable and suggested reliable tire brands. He never tried to upsell me on his own services, never even pushed for this Yelp review; his primary concern was making sure I knew what was going on with my car so I could be safe on the road. As a girl in her 20s I am always wary of mechanics as they are known to be crooks and scam artists. I called 6 shops to get a quote to have my air conditioning system flushed and checked and not only was this shop the best price, but I had the most sincere conversation with the owner about what the process is. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this shop to anyone, but particularly women in the area who have the same fears I do. They took great care of me and not only fixed my A/C but topped off my oil because the light was on on my dash and told me what oil to ask for in the future so that my car stops burning through it so fast. He also offered to swap my plates for me because I had just moved to the area and got Tennessee ones. All at no extra charge. Stand up shop owned and operated by stand up people. This review is overdue, but we owe John at Automotive Solutions so much. My partner's truck had a number of issues that were starting to compound and make the vehicle both unreliable and unsafe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]John took a look at our list of issues and, as my partner was bringing the truck around for a look, John saw the pleading in my eyes, and knew what it would take to convince my man to part with his beloved but deteriorating vehicle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He ran the computer on it and explained not just the 27 error codes it was pulling and the cost of each of those currently needed repairs, he also detailed his experience with the model and which repairs were coming and their cost. He stopped us from making more than $1,000 in repairs on a truck that would end up just needing thousands more in fixes in the not-so-distant future. And HERE'S THE KICKER: [[HIGHLIGHT]]John then spent time answering all our questions about which used vehicle years, makes and models he currently recommends based on their reliability and repair cost.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He spent at least 45 minutes with us not making a dime -- just helping a couple on a tight budget trying to make some responsible, cost-effective decisons. She called me and said they were so nice and I called for myself and John when over everything will me and was very knowledgeable. He gave me a rough quote and it ended up being less. We had an issue with our Malibu turning off mid-drive so we brought it to Automotive Solutions and they ran a full diagnostic on the car and offered potential solutions. Essentially their advice fixed it within minutes. Turns out it was a faulty remote. AND because it didn't require any actual work, they did it free of charge. We had originally brought it to Carl Black Chevy but those guys are absolute BUMS. They kept our car for a WEEK, charged us $200 for running a diagnostic, and told us the car was "fine". Like sure man, my car literally turned off on the highway while I was going 70mph, my car is totally "fine". Anyways, we will definitely be using this shop for all my car needs. I grew up in northern IN with my father & uncle's autobody shop in my backyard; however, am used to getting the run around as a young woman in this city. My landlord & neighbors recommended this spot that is close by and John was able to get me in early on a Monday morning and diagnose an easily fixable repair, saving my hundreds of dollars that I was quoted over the weekend for unnecessary repairs. I had hit a few potholes lately, one in particular that had caused the steering to be off. He explained the issue (a loose ball joint in the spindle of the wheel), allowing me to see what was wrong and how he repaired it. He was honest about what was safety related and necessary to repair now v. things that would need repaired eventually but were not urgent. After a drive from CA to TN for school, the old automobile needed to be serviced. Unsure of where to go, I turned to my old friends Yelp and Google for some suggestions, and stumbled across the great reviews for Automotive Solutions. Without an appointment, I headed over to the garage when it opened, dropped off my car (using their COVID protocol...super simple and easy), and less than 3 hours later my car was ready to go. I made a 9 am "Yelp" appointment at Automotive Solutions. I was greeted by a tech immediately and my car was on the rack within 10 minutes. My Honda manual says I need to replace my brakes between 50,000-70,000 miles. I am right in between. I was told my brakes are fine and was given a clear explanation as to why the brakes installed on my car are high quality and should be good for another year. They were all spot on about the work and workers. Awesome. Emailed Steve at Automotive Solutions and he said, he would be happy to look at it, just felt good from the start. Instead of calling, I went there one night right before they closed, since I was in the neighborhood. John looked at it quick and told me to drop it off the next business day and they will let me know what would be needed even though they had many cars to work on. I dropped it off Sunday night. The Automotive Solutions experience is kinda hard to describe. They have great curiosity, and acted like a doctor with my car. They looked at my Buick Enclave, first by listening to me about my concern of bad brakes and struts. Then Steve carefully examined it, drove it, listened to the squeaks, drove it down the street and over bumps to verify what was happening. Another staffer listened from the outside. They took great care to make sure their diagnosis was correct. Yes, the front struts and brakes to be bad--but the rears were just fine! No need to repair! It was a trust-building moment. Then, there was detailed explanations of what was happening and why. And how it should be fixed, with stories of quality parts, and the quest to do it right the first time. Then they quoted what it would take to do the work...parts, labor and taxes...the complete price. (I dislike how other shops add many dollars to their quoted price without your knowledge.) And the work was done well. When I came it to pick up the car, I got a thorough show and tell of other issues with my car that unscrupulous mechanics might insist be fixed, but in reality does not need repair! And, it all made sense to this old shade-tree mechanic. I can tell these guys like their work. I like the free-of-charge diagnosis. I like how Steve and John are so kind and competent. I like how they are careful to describe solutions, and I like how they do what they say they will! I'll be back! read more

As a graduating medical student, I've learned to recognize good diagnosticians who excel at keeping their patients/customers well informed to make the best decision possible. The guys at Automotive Solutions are this and more. In a city full of dealerships that charge outrageous prices (ie the Volvo dealership that wants $140 for an oil change, $75 diagnostic fee, $980 for 70k maintenance...), they have always offered me SUPER fair prices ($50 for oil change, no diagnostic fees, $550 for 70k maintenance) while never pressuring me into buying their services. Instead, I learn something new about cars every time I go because they really take the time to make sure you understand what's wrong and how important it is for your car. One extra story: The other day, I lost total ability to steer and my car [2008 Volvo XC90, V8] started heating up. Fearing the worst, I went to AS for a fix. Within a few hours, they were able to diagnose the problem (broken pulley and serpentine belt), explain to me the cheapest fix that they could do (replace parts instead of replacing the entire unit), why it was necessary, and had my car ready and serviceable by the end of the day. Please do yourself a favor and get to know these guys because they do some tremendous work. As long as I am in Nashville, I will go to Automotive Solutions for my car maintenance. read more

These guys were amazing! Came in from out of town, our air conditioning broke on the way out. We dealt with 100+ degree heat till we arrived in Nashville. We called because the reviews for this place were great and I'm so glad we did! They got us in immediately and stated we only needed a few things fixed instead of charging us to get an entirely new compressor, which would have been more than double the price. These guys were great. My Mustang's AC was acting up a little and I wanted to get it fixed before the winter. I had a list of other things for them to take a look at, and they checked them all out overnight and had it back to me the next day. They told me what they could fix, what they'd recommend having someone else look at, and didn't try to sell a bunch of extra stuff to me. It was also really nice that they took a second to explain what was actually going with the AC and what the fix was.
