Can I give zero stars? I was a new patient. I came for my appointment and was immediately met with…read moreattitude, no "hello", nothing. Extremely rude behavior from either the dental assistant or receptionist. There was zero communication that I couldn't bring my children (plenty old enough to sit with their tablets). The dentist came, and said "how can we make this right" then immediately asked "so do you have someone to watch the kids". I have never been to any appointment where I was met with such ridiculously rude behavior. My children have attended many of my appointments for other medical needs. If you are ok with working with people who aren't the slightest bit willing to work with their patients, and be even slightly kind then this is the place for you! If you want to be met with basic respect, don't go. It's simple, and it makes a difference. Period. I'd like to update the review based on what would occur later BECAUSE I provided a transparent review. After I left this review, Ariata would then charge me $50 for a cancellation. The reason for me saying "I need to find a new dentist" and originally choosing to leave with my two children is I no longer felt safe. I couldn't in my right mind allow him to proceed with the appointment. When I saw the charge, I called to respectfully ask to reverse the charge and the dentist quite literally was yelling at me on the phone saying "I was going to do you a courtesy of walking out because of your circumstances BUT then I saw your review... f*** around and find out". I was appalled. This man was absolutely unhinged on the phone and accused me of things that never happened. He then began to insult me as a mother and accuse me of leaving my children unattended when, that never happened, and that was never something that I planned on happening. Ever. The "conversation" would continue to be him speaking aggressively and saying that he will not reverse the $50 charge. Throughout this conversation, my asks were very simple: please add clear communication to new patients and on your website that kids are not allowed in the office and second to please reverse the charge. That is it. Ultimately, it was an absolutely horrific experience and I write this to make others aware that if you attend or plan to attend this dentist office, please do so CAREFULLY.

And yet,.. here is one more star/medal/prize: I came to Dr. Cooper for consultation about my old failing/failed implants. He took an X-Ray, then did a CT scan, shared his findings with recommendations, and gave me a referral to the oral surgeon/implantologist. How much do they usually charge you for a consultation + X-Ray + CT scan? I know the answer, been there, done that, and your answer is wrong: Dr. Cooper charged me $0,.. Nothing! Can you believe that? I don't want people to print this review and show it to him, "You charged this guy $0, and I want the same price", but I just can't help yelling from the roof of the world's tallest tower, "This Doctor/Dentist must be from another planet where humanity, kindness, compassion, and decency still exists!" And, of course, his staff is always "top notch", and I suspect that the staff usually mimic the doctor, and I learned that in my long life spanning apx. 3 generations. My 82-year-old mother was charged significantly above what is Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR) for two simple fillings, coded D2330 and D2332. She was charged $263 for a 1-surface filling of one tooth (D2330) and $385 for a 3-surface filling of another tooth (D2332), totaling $648 for about 30 minutes of work. When I spoke to the front desk clerk regarding these excessive charges, she tried to tell me they charge less than UCR. Not true! They purposefully do not contract with ANY dental insurance plans, so a patient is left to pay whatever absurd excess they want to charge above the UCR set by dental insurance plans. While the clinical work was fine, the price gouging is undeniable. I have had a few dental fillings myself, and fees paid by insurance plus my copay was never remotely close to what this office charges! When I mentioned that my initial search for reasonable market costs for D2330 and D2332 in zip code 60031 was using AI, the clerk literally laughed into the phone, despite that AI provided legit references for its data. She pointed me instead to fairconsumerhealth dot org for pricing. For zip code 60031, "average allowed amount" at the 80th %ile even for D2330 is $176 and for D2332 is $253, a fraction of what this office charges! For an even more stark comparison, consider that as of 2025, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services allowed $52.18 and $92.19, respectively, for these same services. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a practice that values fair pricing. Neumann and Mackey focus on running a profit-driven business, not a patient-centered dental practice. Good chairside manner does not justify price gouging, especially little old ladies on fixed incomes.
