We really enjoyed our breakfast here. We got the breakfast burrito, chilaquiles and French toast. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage and ham it came with eggs, cheese, potatoes and guacamole which was my favorite part. Most places don't include guac in their breakfast burritos. The chilaquiles were also very good it came with potatoes, beans, perfectly cooked over medium eggs drenched in a chile verde sauce with chunks of meat.The sauce was a bit too tangy for me and I do wish they offered red chilaquiles. The French toast was made with thick bread and had a yummy buttery flavor. They gave us plenty of salsa on the side and the guy at the drive through window was very friendly. As you can tell from my previous review/photos, this spot was my jam! The fish tacos, French toast, and the chile relleno or chile relleno omelette were my favorite things to order. Of course not everything was solid (refried beans), but you could tell whoever was making the food was putting love into it. Not sure if they changed management or the chef, but the last couple of times we've ordered food it has been lackluster. This is a place that I praised for the flavor and consistency, but now the flavor is missing from the dishes and the ranchero sauce on the Chile Relleno is watery and doesn't have that same richness. I was really disappointed in my Fish Taco Plate that I ordered today. The batter was burnt and hard. It even had parts of the batter that were still uncooked (see photo). The corn tortillas are different (color/flavor is different). I noticed the beans that come with the plate are now whole beans and not the original refried beans. The whole beans are way better than the canned refried beans, but could have used some salt since they had no flavor, just bland. The rice was old. It was very dry and had hard and soft pieces mixed together like they are mixing fresh rice with the old rice. Only thing that I enjoyed was the French toast. So sad that this place has turned into this. I've ordered from here too many times to count, so I know that it has gone downhill. Bring back the old chef or whatever changes that y'all did was not for the better. Definitely will not order or return unless they fix things. read more

Maiz Cafe is new to Rialto and honestly it deserves all the love. We stumbled in on a Sunday morning and left completely satisfied. We ordered the chilaquiles with ribeye steak, the French toast, and the pancake combo. Everything was cooked to order and tasted incredibly fresh. That ribeye on the chilaquiles? Generous, juicy, and packed with flavor. My daughters enjoyed their pancakes and bacon. It a little busy and the staff was clearly hustling, but our waiter stayed attentive and you could genuinely feel that they care about the people sitting at their tables. That kind of energy is hard to fake. Just heads up they only have a single restroom outside, but it was spotless, well stocked and recently remodeled. No complaints. Went in with my husband and had issues directly after being seated First it's noisey they let people randomly come in and start playing music. It was my husbands birthday and we had the impression that this place wouldn't be like that. We were so wrong. He ordered the surf and turf plate they offered and I ordered a Denver omelet with hash browns and the biscuits and gravy as a side. For some reason they bring out his food first and I had to sit there for maybe 5 or more minutes waiting for them to bring out my drink AND food. First time here. As I passed by, what captured me to stop and try Maíz Mexican Grill was seeing Josè, one of the managers, outside early tending to the upkeep of the restaurant grounds. The sauce was more on the creamy side? Not sure how to explain it but it for sure wasn't green sauce out of a can. The rice and beans were also on point! The beans were creamy with a sprinkling of cotija cheese. The rice while plain was flavorful. The kicker were the 3 homemade corn tortillas! Wrapped in foil, they were still hot when I got home. They have possibly the best Aguas Fresca around my go to is the chilaquiles with birria or pastor so bomb! Get them every Sunday morning ...
