For the traveler that wants a truly unique hotel experience, I can't think of anywhere in the world that can touch the Maison Souquet. It is absolutely and unquestionably one-of-a-kind. The decor wins everyone over. Impeccably decorated in a style that can only be described as Parisian burlesque, it's a visual feast for the eyes. This decor runs through the entire place--even the rooms are a decorator's dream come true. The hotel's winning formula are the wonderful people working there. Everyone we interacted with was an absolute delight, and it was clear that they truly enjoyed their work. The young woman that gave us the tour of the hotel was especially wonderful. She gave us the tour in French (as we requested), but she had no problem with us having to pause periodically to fully appreciate her wonderful Parisian French (translation: we don't speak wonderful Parisian French nearly as adeptly as she does). all Covid-time reviews will begin with Covid practices; very thorough, vaccine check for both hotel and bar guests. There are not words to express the perfection and thoughtfulness of this gorgeous hotel. But, as we're left with words, here are mine. From the beginning of the pandemic, when I initially had to cancel our 2020 anniversary stay, the staff at Maison Souquet were kind and accommodating. Despite reserving a non-refundable stay, they worked with me to ensure the credit remained and helped when it was finally time to book our 16-month-late stay. We arrived excitedly and immediately left our bags at the front desk to charge through Paris and return our rental car. When we returned, Florian patiently and thoroughly walked us through the history and amenities of the hotel; information and offerings intertwined. From the gorgeous greeting and entry room, to the deep burgundy velvet of the bar and breakfast room, the senses are immediately satisfied. Our room was a perfect haven and sanctuary, the staff somehow both attentive and discreet. Throughout our stay, we returned to sink into the plush chairs and order one of the unique and delectable specialty cocktails (the Dita is exquisite - of course it is). I typically don't enjoy bars; the intimacy of the space created and the clientele attracted by this exquisite space made us want to return here every evening... which we did. Be sure to book directly with the hotel and take advantage of your hour in the private, decadent, delectable Salon D'eau. Photos do not do it justice. This hotel knocked it out of the park before I discovered I had left something very important in the room. You see, when I was 10, and took my first trip to New York, my mother (R.I.P.) bought me a teddy bear. Tedward is featured in some of my other reviews, and is an important part of my journeys as a nervous traveler. (Pro-tip - Tedward's placement by housekeeping helps to determine tip amount.) I don't fly without him. Imagine my distress arriving in Frankfurt after a four-hour train ride to discover I'd left Tedward in the room. Call it being an out-of-practice traveler. Call it any number of things. I immediately called; the hotel had located him. Now I had to decide - trust him to the post? Do something wild? The hotel supported any decision I made and... well, I did something drastic. We delayed our flight (surprisingly cost-effective, but that's another story), and I took the bullet train to and from Frankfurt and Paris. Never, once, did the staff at the Maison suggest I was being absurd. No; instead, they accommodated everything, sending the picture (thank you, Tamara!) included with this review, and offering to mail him and subsequently holding on to him when I decided to stay. To my great joy, the moment I opened the door to the Maison, Florian presented Tedward. With my remaining hour in Paris before my return train, what did I decide to do? Try to shop for souvenir? Enjoy one last delectable item? I could imagine nothing in the world more lush than simply sitting in the bar and enjoying a drink. Paris is an incredible city. It's everything they say. What a magical place! From arrival, we were greeted by the most wonderful staff members who gave us the background and history of the hotel. It's a small but quaint hotel that's walking distance to the moulin rouge. The property was pristine, I love the old decor and details. Our room was spacious and cozy. I wish we had stayed a bit longer as they have a spa, but next time! We did make it for drinks at the bar and the cocktails were heavenly. I would highly recommend staying here if you can. Spent 5 nights here to celebrate my 50th birthday, and this was absolutely one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at (and I've traveled my fair share over the years)! The decoration of the lobby, the bar and our room were all sultry perfection. Very friendly service from the desk staff and the bar staff. Great cocktails! Our suite was large for a European hotel room, and also, it was perhaps the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The private indoor pool and steam room was like nothing else I've ever experienced in a hotel. I can't say anything bad about the place... any criticism would be really nit picky and not worth mentioning at all. The surrounding neighborhood is generally normal and not touristy... yes, it is literally 1/2 a block away from the Moulin Rouge, but aside from that street and it's plethora of sex shops, the surrounding streets were just normal Parisians doing their thing and I felt like we were barely encountering other tourists at all. I highly recommend this as a place to stay in Paris! read more

This Hotel is absolutely amazing! It's unique and a super special experience. The experience of staying at this hotel is worth every dollar. If you are looking to stay in a luxury hotel but are looking for something more special and unique than the Ritz, four seasons or Peninsula this absolutely 1000% the place for you. Any assistance, questions or just general fun you want to have everyone is more than willing to accommodate. While we encountered many great staff members who went above and beyond, Oliver was right by our side whenever we needed help. On top of everything he did for use he managed to get us opera tickets for an opening night show that was sold out AMAZING!!! The Hotel itself is spectacular. It is luxurious, sophisticated and truly unique. At the same time if traveling with your partner it is very romantic and sensual. The Hotel bar is a absolutely amazing with true speak easy vibes and amazing cocktails. The breakfast in the morning is over the top decedent. I would come here for the breakfast even if I was not a hotel guest. The hotel locations is right in the middle of some great restaurants, bars, shops and adult entertainment. Lastly, the rooms are absolutely out of this world. Very large for Paris standards and so well themed, creating a atmosphere of relaxation, calm, intimate and romantic. The suits are very spacious with a walk in closet, a tub and a shower in the bathroom and rooms that are cleaned to perfection every day. All in all this hotel can really make you trip feel extra special. Staying here is the perfect way to spark some romance and a the french way of life into your trip. To say that my wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Maison Souquet would be an understatement. From the moment we arrived, the care and attention to our needs was the priority of the phenomenal staff. The decor of the hotel was elegant and like stepping back into time, the way all should experience Pairs at least once. Every detail has been considered and making sure your stay is exceptional is clearly the goal of Maison Souquet. Our sincere compliments to Benjamin and the entire staff. You made our time in Paris truly memorable. A couple of items that I considered when booking based on other reviews: Neighborhood - while the immediate area is considered the red light district, it was in no way offensive. As far as safety goes, at no time did my wife or I feel unsafe while wandering the neighborhood day or night. Room size - while the standard rooms are cozy, l would not consider them any smaller then your standard lodging in a big international city. This boutique hotel is one of a kind! I fell in love as soon as I walked in, from the smell of the candles to the beautiful ceilings! This hotel is in the red light district and used to be a brothel in 1905 which makes it even more interesting! They have a private pool and steam room that has a beautiful zodiac mural on the ceiling! Every room is unique we got the yellow and black striped room which was so beautiful and had a great bathtub with Hermès toiletries. The bar inside of the hotel makes the best drinks in town! Signature cocktails with delicious and beautiful garnishes everything is thoughtful and complimentary to the taste of the drink! The staff were so friendly and attentive. My husband and I checked into a suite for 3 nights while in France for our friends wedding and celebrating our first wedding anniversary. We travel often, and this was by far our favorite hotel we have ever stayed. It was decorated magnificently, polished and clean to perfection, and has the most amazing private spa for guests use only. The bar area was so so beautiful and chic, even friends staying 25 mins away would take an Uber nightly to meet us for a nightcap (the caramel espresso martini was everyone's favorite!) Also, for a snack before going out, or just if a little hungry anytime, order the barata cheese - it was a MUST! Lastly, above all of the amazing notes above, by far the best part of the stay was the service from every single staff member who went above and beyond to attend to every single need. My husband was not feeling well - they offered to go get him medication, then take a car 30 mins away to drop it off at the wedding to us. They pressed our clothes every day and shined shoes with just an hours notice and had them back perfect. They even booked our train tickets same day for a wine tasting in Bordeaux and had a car ready within 5 mins to get us to the station on time. They were exceptional. We can not stop talking about the hotel or the staff and recommend it to EVERYONE who is looking for a luxury stay but something more special than your normal 5 star hotel - I would rate this a 6. Lastly, I highly suggest booking a suite vs. standard room. You will for sure enjoy as much as we did. It is a significant larger space and the seating area makes all the difference. read more

We checked into Maison Souquet on 25/5/2017 for 4 nights. We found it on Trip Advisor as the top rated hotel in Paris, and booked it through Agoda. It is a bit off the typical Parisian hotel track as it is literally within 150 meters of the Moulin Rouge. The area itself is fine. It is the middle of the sex district - there are probably more toy shops on Boulevard de Clichy than there are in the San Francisco Bay Area (seriously - like 25 of them). That said there are tons of people around all the time and we felt safe. There are several good restaurants in the immediate area (La Rughetta in particular), as well as boutique shops. There's a Starbucks right there (which is nice because it's difficult to find filtered black coffee in France - Americanos are the rule), and a taxi stand that always has at least 3 waiting. The hotel is located such that you go off for the day by cab or Uber, walk the glorious city and then return by Uber. Fares were generally €11-12 euro to (Louvre, catacombs, Musee d' Orsay) or fro (Eiffel Tower, Musee d' Armie) the hotel location. Maison Souquet was everything as advertised and more. An intimate boutique 5 star hotel, the room was small but quite functional. The bathroom had a great shower with both an overhead and handheld head, hot water forever, and more than enough room for two The staff was fantastic, on the spot all the time and very helpful. We had breakfast included in our room rate and they have a wonderful breakfast room off of the bar (and with it you will get the history of the property being a brothel in the early 20th century and what each of the rooms off the lobby were used for) - I highly recommend the breakfast option. The spa was the highlight. You have the right to one hour of private use per day you are there. It has a huge shower and a steam room in addition to the pool you see in the photos. There is also another room for massage. We booked massages back to back and used two of our allotted four hours. Fantastic masseuse (I can't remember her name) booked through the hotel at a very reasonable (Paris) rate. I would stay there again - it is a unique hotel experience and quite worth the expense. read more

From the lux decor to the perfect location (virtually across the street from Moulin Rouge), this hotel was absolutely perfect for my wife and I. But the thing that made our stay truly memorable wasn't the decadent amenities like the private spa visits each day--it was the staff. It is an amazing hotel and I think we had as much fun there as we did anywhere in Paris. The rooms are like walking into a time machine and the hotel itself is aesthetically unrivaled. Just the most awful experience - they appear to have cancelled my booking and have kept the £600. A dream weekend away has turned into a nightmare and the rude staff I have encountered have kept my money and effectively told me to push off. Feels like daylight robbery and the worst hotel experience of my life, so stressful and what an unbelievable and costly mistake to look at them for a booking - avoid!!!!! read more
