I went to Maison Esthetique on January 8th, 2025 for a collagen anti-aging facial with the ultrasound add-on with Kaitlin. Everything went well. Kaitlin was nice and did her job fine. When I went downstairs to pay, my bill was $220+$40 tip as expected. I had a gift card of $100, but the young lady at the front desk told me it was expired. I had no idea since it was gifted to me only few years back. I can only figure that maybe it had been re-gifted to me because it hadn't been 7 years...I guess that's not the fault of Madison Esthetique. The young lady at the front desk took the time to write "expired" on the card. Maybe it would be a good idea to write when it will be expired when the card is first purchased. I don't like and I don't support businesses that do this 7 years expiration date BS on their gift cards. It says to me they don't care about the clients and don't stand behind their business. Just returned from a $205.00 massage (not including a $20.00 tip) I had no problem with the amount of the service-however when I presented my $99.99 gift card I was told it had expired. I told the manager there was no expiration date on the card and that the reason I had not used it earlier was that I had been diagnosed with cancer and in between the aggressive treatments and Covid I was told by my physician to avoid spa like environments d/t my compromised immune system. The manager would not budge. I have been a loyal customer since the salon started and to not make an exception seemed heartless. I went in for a 50 minute massage last week. The massage was good and the therapist nice. However, the massage was 40 minutes at most. She put me in room and didn't return for quite a while before starting. This is not the first time this has happened at this spa. Employees in general do not seem happy working there. I am kind of surprised that such a reputable and high end spa has such poor customer service. I was given a gift card for a couples massage and was eager to put it to use. Last month we made an appointment to be called the day prior to let me know they don't have the coverage. Okay, fine so I rescheduled to this upcoming week (a month later). Decided to call and confirm the time this afternoon and the rep said "Oh, it looks like we won't be able to do that either"...with ZERO care or concern. Like, WHEN were you planning on telling me this? I coordinated childcare. Every time I call they can't seem to "find a time" and I am extremely frustrated and upset about this. They told me I could split up the reservations or do another service but like this was what we were gifted? Such poor, poor customer service. Very disappointed and I haven't even had my service yet. I have a mani and pedi scheduled today and I burnt my hand severely yesterday making it so that I can't have the mani and they will not let me reschedule without charging 50% of my reserved services. The massage therapist was very nice, and front desk was responsive when I called to make a same day appointment. There were no choices of lotions/oils compared to some places that let you choose, the room was bright with almost full lighting, and the soundscape turned off halfway through the massage. The chair went up and down by itself, obviously not the woman's fault, but still did not help the situation. The room did not give any ambiance, but rather, a small closet space. For the price of this location, I would think the room would be warm and relaxing and soothing. It looked like almost no effort went into decorating the room itself, although the waiting room was pleasant. read more

I love how after the two appointments I had so far (both times for nails), the nice employees start cleaning everything after they're done!!! I feel safe coming here knowing and seeing how they start wiping things down in between a mani/pedi and after. and my nails have been coming out amazing!!! It's worth the drive to me!!! I want to start this review by saying I have been coming here for over 10 years and always got facials. Never have I had a bad experience. The following is a snipit of the email I sent to Kim, the spa manager: Today I had a massage with Sal and added on hot oil. I am going to list out a few issues I wanted to bring to your attention: - The hot oil in my hair was not hot. It was room temperature and did not feel worth a $35 add-on. - Sal first asked me how old I was and told me I had a 'baby face' when I told him I was 23. He then said he was 50 and started to tell me a story about how he dates younger women because he doesn't look his age. The conversation died out after that because it started off so uncomfortable. Additionally, he started telling me about the previous spa he worked at & how the women had lots of hair on their legs and underarms which he labeled as 'suprising'. I was hesitant to have a male massage therapist and just felt like his comments were inappropriate to make when in a room with a young woman. Not only that, it was difficult to relax as those comments were made at the very beginning of our session. I don't think any massage therapist especially a male should be talking at any length about their dating history. There were other things he was saying too that I felt were inappropriate but this was the biggest one that stood out to me. - The whole time I was in the room it was FREEZING. There was a fan on but also just felt so cold because I obviously had my clothes removed. I told the front desk associate about how cold it was and how I was freezing throughout the massage but the only response I got was "oh sorry & we'll add it to the notes for next time". Kim tried to call me a few times when I was not available & I let her know that I am uncomfortable speaking about this further when I already had emailed her my full experience. This is her response: "I will need to speak to you. I cannot refund a full service without having a conversation. I can refund the hot oil scalp. I did speak with Sal as well. He asked your age to be certain you were not a minor? Let me know when you're available to have a conversation and I'll be happy to help!" Me: "He asked my age and then proceeded to talk to me about his dating preferences & ex-wife. This is inappropriate to speak about with a young woman who you are massaging, regardless of age. Based on your lack of compassion in this email thread, I am not willing to have a conversation. I get massages monthly & never before have felt like this during a service. My whole family comes to Maison & has been doing so for over 10 years. I am not sure they will be going back after this experience I had & the response." I am not looking to harm the business at all, I actually have always loved getting facials there but this was such a terrible experience I will not be going back. Disappointing. read more

Fiona does a phenomenal job with massages. I also get the added reflexology. I have never been so relaxed. Best massage, and she is very caring and sweet. Each time I go to her I have less and less tension in my muscles. The body scrub with her is also amazing! The spa is a nice getaway and treat for yourself after a long day working. I had Steve as a massage therapist... he was fabulous! Made me feel very comfortable and he did a great deep tissue massage.

I booked an appointment a few weeks ago for a facial noon the next day, gave them my credit card all was good, I couldn't wait for my facial. I hung up, then called right back and got the gentleman who booked my appointment. I asked if they were a real spa with a sauna and steam room? I said real because lets be honest even nail salons can put spa in their name. He said very excited "yes we do, but you can't use any of it because your only having a facial" That's fine it was just his tone wasn't very nice. Fast forward to 10:00 P.M. I awoke with the most violent stomach bug I've had in my entire life. I won't get into details except that it ended as quickly as it started at 2:00 A.M. I was completely wiped out, weak. I woke up at 5:00 A.M. thinking about my facial at noon, and I should call now and leave a message to cancel. I left a message explaining how sick I was and I needed to cancel my appointment. A very nice receptionist called me back and sadly informed me she just got off the phone with the owner who said I couldn't cancel and if I did I would be charged the full amount. Now I've worked at salons and in restaurants and sometimes you have to make an exception. I said to the receptionist that its sad the owner would put her staff at risk for a facial. I called a few times to speak to the owner but could never get her on the phone. read more

It's hard to rate overall when there are two very opposing items I would like to rate. The services here are fabulous, especially the facials. Some of the therapists push products too much, but mostly the experience is divine. The real issue is the way this place manages gift cards. Please DO NOT buy gift cards here. My mother bought me gift cards twice as gifts. When I tried to use them, I was told they had already been used. When I asked for receipts of when they were used, both of them were for appointments my mother had, not me. My mother never had the gift cards in her possession, so she didn't 'accidentally' provide them for payment. I was told she bought them, so they get added to her account, which is ridiculous. She bought a gift card as a gift. Seems obvious. When I contacted the spa to explain how this could happen, I never received a response. Can you imagine if my mother gave the gift cards to someone other than her daughter and the recipient was told the card had been used by the purchaser???? How horrifying! Unfortunately, just when this was going on, my mother had already bought be another gift card. She checked in with the spa and again, was told it was added to her account. So, if she gifts it to anyone, they will also not be able to use this. And somehow, this seems logical to the management??? read more

Typically a pleasant experience here, but had yesterday's appointment for a pedicure been my first, it would have been my last. The nail file used was so old most of the grit was gone (yes, I know what I'm saying). Quite unimpressed with the overall appearance and lack of individual conversation with me. Since I still have money on the gift card my husband graciously gave me for mother's day, I will return for my facial. Hopefully it will fair better. 1/8/2019 Returned for a facial with Vicki today. I purchased a facial for $120 and was upsold to a $140 facial. Okay, I was treating myself, so upgraded the facial to a Collagen facial, 60-min. The aesthetician, Kim, never talked to me about my face, or asked me if I had any concerns or asked me if there was anything I wanted her to look at. The steam machine used on my face could only direct the steam to the right side of my face. The facial felt rushed, and to top it all off, the 60-min facial was over in 50-min. When I went home I found a 'pearl' on my chin which I had to extract myself. Bottom line, I liked the idea of a collagen facial, but I won't be revisiting Maison Esthetique for my next one. I'm going back to Ciao Bella in Newburyport where the same facial is 75-min and only $105! read more

I could not be more disappointed in my experience with this establishment. I called a week prior to make an appointment, they told me I had to put down a CC to confirm by end of day to keep the appt. I never did and never spoke to them again over the next 7 days. I had to call and cancel an appt I wasn't positive I had the day bc of an emergency and was told next time I booked an appt I would pay the 50% from the original service I couldn't make bc they never had a credit card. I was fine with this and we hung up. My 19 yr old nieces went in to to still get their services that they had booked previous and separate from me and the guy working the front desk, who said he was the manager, made them feel very unwelcome and called them out for their aunt canceling. This is so disappointing, me cancelling and nothing to do with them or their appointment. This made them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. After their appointment they were told the spa was charging their mother's card for my service. This was never ever communicated to me. He then tried to tell my sister in law I asked to be part of their "group" which was a blatant lie. This was a conversation we specifically had when I first called and we both agreed I was separate from them. I find it very suspicious and unprofessional that they could just charge anyone else's card for a service that had nothing to do with them originally. read more

Wow!!! This place only gets better! Returned for yet another couples massage that my husband and I were gifted for Christmas with. His therapist was Fiona and mine was Deanna! INCREDIBLE! we both left in awe wondering how they used their hands that way. I could've sworn a tool had to be used but it was all her! I had sore everything from running, and Deanna went above and beyond with muscle pain gel, hot stones, hot towels. 60mins was sooo indulgently enough time! I have been here before and I have loved my experience every time, only this time was completely awful.  What was suppose to be a relaxing massage-turned into a painful and very frustrating (and expensive) experience. I was there for a couples massage or I would have actually left midway but did not want to ruin my boyfriends first ever massage.   (He had Colleen and loved it!!!) I had Steve and I would never recommend him for many reasons. I sound like a giant complainer but honestly the entire experience was just a perfect storm. To start, My table was not warm at all- the heater was not working and I was freezing . (I mentioned this and the response was "oh, it probably timed out" Initially I was asked what type of pressure I liked... I responded with. I don't like any pressure at all. I just want light touch- I don't respond well to pressure. Only Steve was unable to accommodate this.  I notified Steve multiple times throughout my massage that it was too hard and one time I even jumped and said "that's really hurting me" . His pressure only got harder and he continued with what I said hurt and even did it on the other leg. This morning my buttocks on both sides are actually visibly bruised and as well as my left lower leg. Also In trying to get to my lats- he was applying deep pressure in my armpits which I was uncomfortable with.  This is very dangerous to my brachial plexus and lymph nodes.  In a service industry you really should be able to accommodate the customer and he should be able to modulate his pressure especially if I'm asking him too. Lastly I know you can't help his heavy breathing but he also breathes very heavily while completing massage and this was very distracting- . I imagine if I was actually enjoying my experience and not trying to jump out of my own skin- I never would have noticed the heavy breathing. I feel badly for complaining however it really was overall just awful.  Not only did it NOT help my stress but obviously it added to it. read more

In a desperate need to find a salon to go to for my waxing needs, I came on to trusty Yelp to help find a place to beautify myself and I succeeded :) I walked into the spa and immediately thought "oh crap, this place is TOO fancy and I'm going to stick out like a fat, sore thumb". The waiting room is relaxing and beautiful, the bathroom is ridiculously big and caught me off guard haha. The woman who was going to do my wax was cute and super sweet. She instantly made me feel comfortable, wanted and welcomed. She did a fantastic job and was really knowledgeable and helpful. Once the job was done I walked a bit reluctantly to pay for my services, thinking it had to be an outrageous price because this place is just too nice. To my surprise & my wallets benefit, the price was the standard price I have paid at other salons. I recommend this place & if your getting waxed, Natalie especially :) *Natalie uses the hard wax with the strips, she does not use the soft wax that requires no strips. Personally I get a better, cleaner result with the hard wax but to each their own. read more

A beautiful spa and very clean and well maintained. I highly recommend Laurie for a manicure and pedicure. She really did a thorough, fantastic job. I normally wouldn't pay that much for manicure & pedicure, but she is totally worth it. My nails never looked so good or lasted for so long. I wished I had known about her for my wedding day. I also got a facial from Steven. He did a great job as well and you could tell he was very experienced. The only part I didn't like was the up-sell at the end and trying to get me to buy facial products. But I understood why and politely said no. The only thing about the spa I didn't like was that the lounge area for relaxing in between your appointments (in robe) and the check-in waiting area are the same room. This is not very relaxing to be waiting in your robe while people are walking in from outside. It should be two totally separate rooms. read more

After having two WONDERFUL facials with Karen, I booked a Tranquility Massage "Special" for $65 which are offered on Wednesdays. I was assigned Vangie, who told me she usually does Deep Tissue Massage and that the Tranquility massage was a fingertip, feathery light touch. She said for $10 more I can upgrade you to a Deep Tissue. Done. Vangie was "OK". Her touch was deep and she did relieve some soreness, but I did not feel that calming sense of relaxation that I have with others in the past. Since she was on a clock, I felt she rushed the last 15 minutes of the massage. I would not book her again. When I got upstairs, they told me that would be $90. I explained that Vangie said it was $10 more - $75? Oh, well the Tranquility is usually $80, but Vangie knew you had the Special so she should have made that clear. She didn't. And they went ahead and charged me $90. Felt like a little bit of a bait and switch. I will probably return for the facials, but doubt I will be back for a massage. read more

I have loved this place for the calming feeling of the massage areas.. and the smells and the staff... I got eyelash extensions last week before my son's wedding..... I am so sorry to write this but they are horrible. They have already started falling out.... actually started 4 days after install.. they were way too long and not FULL at all and she stopped way before the corner of my eyes.... My daughter-in-law has had them for a year and her's are amazing.. I now have to pay more money at another place to have a good set put on and also have to pay to have the ones that are left on my eyes removed. I will not name the tech as I liked her and at the time after spending 3 hours in the chair I was ready to leave. But... they are sparse....look like spiders on my eyes.. and have no fullness whatsoever. Sorry.. I'll stick to the massages here instead. read more

I have finally found what I'm looking for on the north shore! A quiet place where I can relax & feel pampered. I'm going for the experience, not just color on my toes. From my first phone call to book my appointment, to the tour of the facility at the end, everyone was very professional & personable. The atmosphere is very relaxing and warm. Albert checked us in, took our coats & offered us something to drink when we arrived. We waited just a few minutes in the very comfortable waiting area before being brought to another room to get our pedis. Rosie gave me a great pedicure with a nice foot massage. When we finished, she was kind enough to show us the massage & facial rooms. The facility is immaculate, quiet & oh, so relaxing. I am looking forward to trying their other services. Got a facial and pedicure here. This is a first class salon, with attention to details. It is not cheap - this is a high end salon and you are paying for quality. My pedicure was not rushed, the facility was clean, plenty of magazines to read and the technician did a great job. I also had a facial which was excellent and relaxing. What I like even more is that she didn't try to sell me a bunch of products after I left. 5 stars, great service and elegant spa. read more

So I want to give my esthetician Elina a big shout out! She was awesome and made me feel super comfortable during my brazilian. She really knew what she was doing, and was very professional. My previous experience at another salon was that they had me take off my undergarments. Elina had me keep them on to maintain somewhat of a semblance of privacy. I really liked that. Plus she used a new dipping stick for each application of wax. Yay for no STDs! She gets 5 stars! The place, 3 stars. The overall waxing room was a little shabby, could use an update. Same with the entire spa in general. I get that it's supposed to be like an old victorian house, but it smelled like an old house too. Dowdy. Like I'd just walked into an estate sale. I would definitely not come here for relaxation and spa services. Not very fresh, very 'lived in'. And I laughed when I read the other review that said "the place was newly constructed to look that way." Ha, I highly doubt it. The overall look is not my cup of tea. It fits the 50+ year old matron that likes 'old rich', Louis XIV's gilded overly gold crap. I'm more for modern and clean lines. It was 11am and there was salt all over the carpeting in the waiting area and on the stairs, didn't seem like it was vacuumed the night before. And $65 for a brazilian is pretty steep. European wax center in Saugus only charges $47. I've gotten a crappy one for $40. Even $50 or $60 would reasonable, but $65 is overkill. Great esthetician but will not be returning. read more

I've been a customer for several years but after a recent bone cancer diagnosis I started going for Reflexology with Fiona and the pain I get in my back due to the cancer has greatly subsided. Had a lash lift and tint that was AMAZING here. I have stubborn lashes so it usually falls out after a few days, but I decided to try this salon as a last chance...got them done two weeks ago...went on vacation and swam in a pool or ocean everyday since and they are STILL CURLED.
