My mom and I started going to classic faces when I was 16 (I'm 36), so it has long been "our spot" for girl's day. We both left our appt last weekend realizing it is nothing like it once was, and under Theodora's management and we'd never go back. Small things at first-doesn't feel like a spa anymore. Bright lights. There music was swinging from Elvis to trendy pop. Zero pampering. It seemed really slow for a Saturday and many of the listed services weren't available. You'd have to schedule mid week around them. It just had a churn and burn feel. The Estitician who did my facial was amazing. If you do go, ask for Nina. Now the gift card... My mom had a $30 gift card. We walked in and the receptionist asked if we wanted to settle up before our service. Unusual in hospitality, but no prob. The battle of the gift card begins. Another client chimes in and says it's illegal in MA to reject the card as it's the same name/establishment but the receptionist offers to text the owner. Obviously you can tell by these reviews it's an ongoing battle, but even the only other women waiting with us had had the same issue. While my mom is in the middle of her pedi the receptionist plays middle man arguing with the owner. Again, not the approach I'd expect in hospitality/spa during what's supposed to be a relaxing service. When everything was said and done, the owner refused to honor the gift card but did take off 10%. The irony being there was only a $3 difference between the card and her 10%. We won't have any real impact on their business, only go once a year, maybe twice, ranging from $250-$600/year for the 2 of us, across 20 years, it seems like such a futile line in the Sand over those extra $3 dollars she saved refusing the gift card. There are a million places to go in today's day and age. The only positive reviews I saw on here were under the old ownership. The way she penny pinched in the small things made me wonder if she cuts any corners to save money on product. All in all disappointing experience and wouldn't go back. Love this place...it's a total hidden gem. The staff are all super friendly and kind..the services are constantly updated and run numerous specials throughout the year. I especially like that the pedicure tub uses a plastic disposable liner for each client so its incredibly hygienic. I haven't had a service yet I haven't liked. read more

I have been going to Classic Faces for more than 10 years. I realize there was some issues with gift cards and a previous owner. I did not have any experience with that as I did not use any gift cards. Currently there is a new owner as of 3/2020. Due to COVID-19, the salon has been modified for safety and cleanliness. While adhering to protocol, the spa is still welcoming and friendly. I really wanted to review and give a big shout out to Julia who does my pedicures. She is a miracle worker and I don't think I would let anyone else do my toes. I have a very difficult situation having been an avid runner who ran hills so my toenails are quite disgusting (ugh!). The new ownership is sleazy. They sold gift cards before December 2017 and said with the new ownership all gift cards will be excepted. When I went to checkout today and use a gift-card which had a balance of $125 she told me I could not use it on my $18 eye brown wax. She then accepted it but took my gift card and said the remaining balance is voided as she no longer accepts past gift cards. It was from December 2017 less than one year ago. I have over $500 in gift cards for them from Christmas gifts as I have been a loyal and consistent customer for over 10 years that this poor ownership decided no longer are valid. The worst part is they didn't confront anyone or let anyone know that they could not use the gift cards anymore. I will NEVER return to this salon and will make it known to all my friends that the owner is a THIEF! After I left the salon I received an email within 2 hours of leaving saying they do not accept gift cards prior to January 1, 2018 effective immediately (October 25, 2018). BUYER BEWARE - new owners not honoring gift cards My family has been going to classic faces for over 30 years, it WAS my mom's favorite place to go. My family would purchase gift cards for her and other family members throughout the year for multiple holidays. There have been several owners over the years and they have ALWAYS honored previous owners gift cards. My mother went yesterday to use a large gift card and was denied. The new owner was very combative and even though she purchased the business knowing there were previous customer gift cards, she WILL NOT honor those gift cards. She even went into a very lengthy explanation of how she can not afford to honor all these gift cards and we are wasting our time discussing it. I have been going to Classic Faces for 20 years. The service has always been exceptional, until now. A new owner recently took over this year and is pulling a move so low that it has made me want to NEVER step foot in that spa again. After promising that gift cards bought from the previous owner would still be accepted she decided pretty much overnight to stop accepting these cards without notifying the customers. When I was there in August of this year she personally assured me that gift card redemption would be honored. I then booked SIX services between myself and my daughters for this Friday (9/14). When told that "She is within her rights and can do whatever she wishes" I decided I cannot support a person like this and cancelled my six services. Furthermore, she is accusing the former owner of being dishonest and "causing" her to make this decision. My family purchased hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards at Christmas last year and now that is going to waste. The spa has changed hands a few times over the years and this has never been an issue. This owner is willing to lose faithful customers of decades for a few bucks. I wouldn't support her if she were the last spa left. It's a shame too because the service providers she inherited when she bought the business are pretty great. read more

My wife has been going to Classic Faces for 25 years.At Christmas she buys over a thousand dollars in gift certificates .In January A new owner took over .Theodora (the new owner) stated nothing would change,the help,the name, the services. The business is very difficult to locate - I walked around for 15 minutes attempting to locate it. As soon as I walked in, I was checked in by a completely flustered receptionist and checked in. The entire spa looks like a poorly decorated first floor of someone's home. I looked around, and there were 6 people in the spa - all over the age of 65. There were only two chairs in the waiting room and I wasn't even afforded the simple courtesy of being able to sit and wait for the appointment, because the senior citizens and clients in the wheelchairs where crowding the area and would not stop attempting to harass and talk to me. My appointment was at 2:00pm and at 2:15 I turned to the flustered receptionist and said, "when am I going to be taken in? I made an appointment for 2:00pm." Mind you, there was only one other person in the waiting room when this occurred. She stared at me and replied, "I don't know I'm so sorry." Needless to say, I got up said I was all set and left. I didn't even get to the facial itself, but the first 20 minute impression was so horrific and the customer service level was so low and terrible, that I had to get up and leave. Pathetic. As I presented them to the receptionist I was told they were not valid anymore because there was a new owner (despite Massachusetts 7 year law), and she quickly took them and shredded them. When I lived on the North Shore, this was my go to place for all my spa/treatment needs. My girl Paige is the best for skin care and waxing. The spa is calm and tranquil, the staff very friendly and professional. Even though it is a drive for me, the fact they are open Sundays (rare for spas) I will be making monthly drives to see Paige, she is that good! read more

I can no longer recommend this spa since a new owner took over. I recently found out that she is no longer accepting gift cards before 2018. I was shocked because like other people I had a substantial amount of money left on my gift cards. I called to complain but the owner was not available and the receptionist felt badly but confirmed this. I had her check the balance on my cards and she said there was a zero balance when actually there was over $400 left on them. I would suggest if this has happened to you to file a complaint with the attorney generals office. I just did and I hope they look into it. Once my 2018 gift cards are used I will no longer go back to this spa. The staff are wonderful there but the new owner just wants to make a buck instead of caring about her customers. read more

The services offered are the most up to date in the industry and the pricing is the best that I've seen. They also run various promotions throughout the year. Buyer beware! My family and I have been going to Classic Faces for 30 years. Since Maryann we have seen a few owners come and go. All have been wonderful and upheld the reputation that they are known for. Holidays, birthdays, anniversary & Mother's day my Mom only wants gift cards from Classic Faces. It's the go to gift. The xmas tree is lined up with CF gift cards. Today my Mom had an appointment for a facial using of course a gift card. (Not expired) Well.... the new owner would not honor it. Wanted her to pay for service then offered her free "samples" of cream. My mother walked out of of the spa without a facial and stressed. I called and spoke with the owner. Gave her a chance to make this right. Basically she won't honor them because she can't afford to... exact words...I'm sure the service's are still great but I recommend not purchasing GC as it appears there is financial issues. I am calling BBB tomorrow. Will update with my findings. This is so sad. read more

Over the years this wonderful spa has changed ownership never missing a beat as far as remaining top notch. Because of my liking & devotion I always received gift cards for birthdays, Christmas & other occasions which was exactly what I wanted. Today the New owner, Theodora, (since beginning of 2018) sent out an email stating that any gift card purchased before the beginning of 2018 will no longer be accepted. I have a couple that Are now worthless. As stated in other reviews on Yelp, this is very underhanded. Theodora will not remain in business by sabotaging the loyalty of these longtime customers. Also by making these longtime clients angry, particularly @ this time of the year you will not have the returning gift card sales from the upcoming Holiday season. Finally to the dedicated women that have been employed there for a long time, that have been nothing but professional, hardworking & obviously made this spa in part the place to go, is no longer in existence & you should seek employment that you are deserving of. She shows no respect or loyalty to her customers. I can't say how she'll be to her employees! The demise of this spa is inevitable. read more

I could never recommend this spa due to their underhanded/deceitful business operations. I feel terrible. I bought a friend a gift certificate to classic faces spa and boutique 15 months ago. I had no idea they changed hands a few months later. And my friend feels terrible she didn't get to use the gift certificate sooner but she was dealing with her bf's death and starting over and cancer so sadly as much as I wanted to do something nice for herself she couldn't get there sooner. She had logged onto website over the course of the last several months and couldn't find a time to go. There was NO notification on website that they would no longer be accepting gift cards after a certain date. The business has gotten around this because they legally changed the name from classic faces Day spa and boutique to classic faces day spa! Yet .... they are using same website and email actually is still under old business name. (When friend pointed this out to owner -- her gift card was issued by classic faces day spa and boutique and that she's corresponding over email with classic faces day spa and boutique, the owner ultimately thanked her for pointing that out but said she is legally a new business.). Because the name was legally changed, owner (I think friend said her name is Theodora) is protected. Sneaky. Deceptive. Crappy business. (Call attorney general! They understand she changed name but actually want my friend to file a complaint!). Some deceptive practices going on. How sad. I bought her the gift card and thought it was a good spa. I can't say that anymore under this new owner, and I refuse to give her my business and will encourage friends to go elsewhere. read more
