So much happening in this building

If you are into art deco and early 1900s era this is the place to see. Pictures won't do it justice because there is so much detail and history that it can't be captured by a simple camera. We stopped by for dinner and their beer wall. After we finished a beautiful waitress took us in a tour of the building. I was so happy to be in a place that had been kept with its original decor. The space is a perfect place to have a party and just soak in the vibe and decor.

Central Valley Caesar -- this is probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion

Service is usually poor, but food and drinks are mostly good. Been here several times, including for World Cup watch parties, and having the large screen for viewing is super cool. Watch parties were all pretty understaffed for what was being advertised on flyers and so the service was horrible, but they did the best they could considering it was so busy so I don't blame them. Unfortunately, even during non event days, service is still pretty slow.

Came on a Saturday for a bunch event including house music. The overall vibes were chill and the djs were doing a great job. The service was also excellent, it was pretty full and the server still kept checking in on us. The burger was nothing special, but it was really solid. Adding the fried eggs helped take it over the top though.

Second review of the Mainzer. My family and I went around 11 am or so. The service was exceptional as always and the food well the pictures speak for themselves. The place was clean from tables, chairs, and utensils. The only thing that I noticed is the bottle of Chalula was empty. The good news is that it won't stop us and it shouldn't stop you from going. A family of five $115. Not bad.

Definitely a great spot to eat! This is a pretty hidden place. Even though it stand out in downtown but the fact that it has like a movie theater and a little section to play games and a stage and than a restaurant on the side! Great place to chill and get a bite and enjoy the vibe. Very clean and impressive bathrooms too.

Great place for brunch or just fun!! Enjoyed the breakfast tacos- chorizo and scrambled egg on homemade tortillas served with hashbrowns! Yum!

My rating is based on the take out order we called in while at the tap room across the street. We got pizza, wings, tacos, and two sandwiches (spicy chicken and pulled pork) and they were all great. The hostess was very accommodating in filling our order.

Drinks were good. Food was okay and overpriced. Nice environment and vibe. Service is on the slower side -- one person working. Overall, it was decent.

I came here for a comedy show with my hubby and my brother and other half :,) it was the funniest show and the food was delicious! The service was so nice and welcoming and the ambiance was great! I definitely recommend this spot for a good laugh and night out :)

2 meals instead of the 3 we ordered cause they were out of something. Don't bring out 2 meals without the 3rd.

So we order 3 meals for us. It's a bit of a wait for our food, no biggie, it's Easter. But don't bring out 2 meals & tell us you're out of plantain waffle mix and ask my niece if she wants something else. Now she has to watch us eat and wait for her food order again.. SMH...I was beyond pissed. The kitchen should've communicated with the server right away so he could let us know the problem. This is my first & last visit to this place. They've left a sour taste in my mouth. Uodate: Maria V..we were not told about you being out of mix before they brought out the rest of our orders. While the cook was making the other meals, we should have been notified right away so a different order could have been placed & ALL of our plates brought out at once. That was my biggest thing. When the cook received the order & knew about being out of mix...why didn't they ask the server to inform us sooner??

    Dez A.

We came in to try the new menu. My ultimate favorite was the deep pried pickles. They changed them to panko pickles. I did enjoy the panko, and the pickles were more crispier. Unfortunately, they no longer have the same dipping sauce for the pickles and eating it with ranch was just plain. I miss the old dipping sauce. I tried the Ruben which was absolutely delicious. The pastrami was lean and there was the perfect amount of sauce and sauerkraut. The rye bread was delicious. I did upgrade to a salad for an additional price and it was worth it. Fresh ingredients. They did remove my go to chicken salad. I don't know if I will go as often without my favorite salad. As always the service was WONDERFUL. Always a smile and our server ( bartender) did go check on the bread ingredients for us. My husband has an allergy and she checked in the ingredients for us first. I love that willingness to take that extra step.

Found this spot through Yelp and it did not disappoint!!…read more First off the pancakes are huge. You could easily share them between two people and they let you choose a sauce for the pancakes, whether that's syrup Nutella or condensed milk. The espresso shots were actually really good. I was shocked because they are literally shots of espresso. They are not alcoholic unless you ask for alcohol in them. This spot actually offers complementary soup before your meal. For us Mexicans, it's called Sopa de Fideo. This soup was actually authentic, and it was really flavorful and good and was basically an appetizer to the breakfast. The espresso shots did come with a side of bread. Personally, I'm not a big person on espresso by itself however, these espresso shots were really good! Now the actual service here was great. Our waiter was attentive She was constantly refilling our water cups and she was able to give us recommendations for what to eat. Also I will add her recommendations were spot on. The inside of this restaurant is really aesthetically cute. There's a bunch of green anywhere outside. They have a cute patio area where you can eat. If you decide to do that! Anyways, I would definitely come here again. It was reasonably priced and it was really good for a breakfast spot. I will say that and the soup was a nice touch because I love soup!

We asked if they could do a special order: a burrito deconstructed, with over-easy eggs and the tortillas on the side. They were totally accommodating, and it was exactly what I was craving--fresh, filling, and seriously delicious. I went for the blueberry pancakes, and wow: they were enormous, fluffy, packed with real blueberries, and basically the perfect pre-hike fuel. And the coffee? Amazing, as always. I meant to take a picture of my food, but honestly I accidentally didn't--because everything looked so good that I dug in immediately. And even without the photo evidence, the presentation and plating were incredible, just like they always are. This place has my heart. I'd give it a hundred stars if I could--highly, highly recommend.

Staff here are friendly, there's a solid bit of history and kitsch in the very back on the way to the restrooms, giving character to what is otherwise a decidedly local, low-frills experience. The steak salad (was it a steak taco salad?) looked quite tasty but also ordinary so I skipped it and stuck with breakfast; the sausage and eggs were very much unremarkable, but at least the hashbrowns were nicely pan fried and the eggs were a large portion. Biscuit and gravy reinforced the former impression, but again, hard to complain-- did the job. This place is super affordable and the overall verdict is a solid local place that's easy to appreciate but hard for me to say I would actually get excited about.

The restaurant was not very busy and it took almost 20 mins just to be seated at our table. We then took our place at the table and we waited another 10-15 mins for someone to wait on us. We kindly flagged the young male server there and asked him if he could get our server to assist us. The young female server finally came out to assist us - she was not very welcoming but proceeded to take our drink order. It took almost 15 minutes to get our mimosas and water. She did not greet us, inquiry if it was our first time there or gave us suggestions on the menu. She then proceeded to take our order which took a while to get our food. The plus - everyone enjoyed our meals from the way they were prepared to the ingredients. No one ever came to our table and gave us any water nor did they ask for a refill on our drinks. During this time I peeked around the corner and saw staff just sitting in the back talking to one another. I tried to keep the experience positive for my group of friends but they were also growing concerned about the lack of hospitality. The lunch schedule was only until 2 pm but because of Rainbird's delay in seating us, taking our drink orders as well as the slight delay we felt we were now being rushed to finish our lunch, I also wanted to celebrate our friend's birthday and I brought a cake - the server proceeded to tell me it would be a $5 charge per person if I cut the cake there. She did offer to bring a complimentary dessert for our guest of honor. In my opinion, due to the service we were not receiving the cake fee should have been at least discounted or offset due to the lackluster enthusiasm and service. As we were trying to finish our lunch and take pictures at this beautiful establishment we could see the "side eyes" of staff rushing to get us out the door. I am a firm believer of supporting small businesses in Merced since I was born and raised there and let's face it - Merced has very limited fine dining and we wanted to do something nice for us. In order for small businesses to thrive in this town they need our consumerism to stay in business. As I read from all the exemplary reviews on this platform we unfortunately had a very bad experience with this lovely establishment. A group of us came from Madera so that we could meet our gals from Merced as a middle location. Needless to say we were very disappointed with the service as well as the treatment we received from Rainbird. Next year we will choose another location for our next gathering. Please do better Rainbird.

I wasn't very hungry, so I opted for a bowl of soup with a side of cornbread and a slice of pie to go. The soup was hearty and plentiful. I could have gone for a cup instead, but instead took what I couldn't eat to-go and enjoyed it later. The corn bread was delicious--slightly sweet, and moist enough to not fall apart when I cut into it with my fork. I usually love butter with corn bread, which they offered me, but it didn't need it. I wasn't sure which pie to get-they have so many to pick from. Checking out the options in the bakery case didn't help because they all looked so beautiful. I ended up selecting peach, and it was amazing. The peaches were perfectly caramelized but still maintained their texture. The bake of the pie brought out their ultimate peachiness. The crust was just the right thickness. Even though it was a cold slice, the crust remained flakey. The cafe had ample seating. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Pricing is on the high end, but I'm not sure how much that is because food is so expensive now-a-days. I was a bit surprised to see sandwich combos (with a side) all starting at around $20, and going up from there. It was after 2 in the afternoon, so the bakery had several 50% off boxes of baked goods to select. Four large cookies for I believe $12 or so (I could be wrong). There weren't too many options left in the bakery cases. I would love to see what this place offers when it first opens. Stay tuned for an update once I get that chance.
