First time coming here. Good experience from the moment I walked in. Greeted by Tabitha the manager who was really helpful and attentive. Everything was exceptionally clean and staff was always sanitizing . The food was amazing . Deluxe accommodations with added smoked bacon and pollo carne tacos sure came through. Went to the Mainzer today with my family for a birthday weekend brunch. I was so happy to see a place like the Mainzer invest in Merced, inside and out was remodeled with great thought and attention to the local history. We got a mix of brunch and lunch options- each dish had its own special touch. As a family who's been in small business in Merced for over 30 years. We know how hard it is to run a an affordable, accommodating, and successful business. I really hope the Mainzer is embraced by our community. Staff was great- we had two kids with us- they were so accommodating. Especially the food and bev manager Jerry. Can't wait to go back and bring friends. What a great surprise in a city that is such a surprise. We stopped here on the way back from Napa to L.A and This place was recommended to us by our hotel as it's on the same block. We actually had a better dinner here than we did The whole time in Napa at four and five star restaurants that cost four times as much and tasted four or five times less. We even ate at Michelin restaurant that was not even close to as good as to this. While the burgers taco and flatbread were pretty good the stand out was the brussels sprouts and it looks like the fried chicken which we didn't have because we had it the same day at our top restaurant in Napa. The cocktails were also as good and even better than the ones we had at the top restaurants that we went to in Napa and were a lot less expensive here Big shout out to Amalia and Kayleigh at Mainzer for awesome above and beyond service. they put in some crayons and kids mats for the takeout so we can eat in the hotel in our room with the kids and threw in a cookie and packed a lot of extra stuff for us. thank you both for such great service that was on par with fine dining in Napa at a much better price, service and value than Napa read more

I loved the 1st meal I had here in December and couldn't wait to take my husband to try it. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich that was supposed to be breaded and crispy (just like the one my friend ordered the 1st time I came here) the breading slid off the sandwich and tasted like old grease. The menu states that the side can be fries, chips or side salad. The 'salad' I got was pure arugula not what I got the last time plus I was charged an upcharge of $1? We gave the Mainzer another chance because we love supporting our local restaurants. The food this time was excellent. The brioche brûlée French toast was amazing. It was moist and had a crunch to it. I feel as if each toast was carefully stacked and then torched to achieve the sweet crunch. The service was great. The upgrades were done with taste. I used to come here as a teen for the concerts and the place was rundown back in the day. The food is good, I just wish there was more variety. I'm guessing the lack of choices is so that what is provided is done with high quality. The staff was friendly and I love how you can serve your own beer. They have great breakfast and simple lunch menu but Gourmet on the foods they do serve. The workers there are super nice and polite all greet you with a huge smile! Filling was good but completely fell apart once he tried to pick it up. Tortillas needed to be cooked longer or something because they just fell apart before he could even get them in his mouth. The Mainzer has a dining hall, pool tables (billiards), high tables by the bar, and the bar has sports going. Honestly, considering the late hours here, it's the place in town I want to be. Merced has been needing a Mainzer for a while. I doubt you'll find another spot like it in town. The crazy thing is, music performances happen here too. Tonight I was out with my dad, a father and son moment because I turned 21. Good drinks. Great food. The Mainzer's fried chicken bucket is juicy, crispy. In case you were searching like I was, the Mainzer has mezcal in its bar. The service here is responsive. It's one thing to go to a restaurant with difficult service, service that doesn't listen or care really. The Mainzer really does have responsive service that won't get in the way of a custom good time. Cassidy and Ray were serving us tonight. On point, no mistakes, quick service. Service has never been anything but excellent, the concept is wonderful and the building is beautiful. Sadly, the Mainzer has not figured out how to make meals that patrons expect. I ordered a BLT Sandwich (which the menu listed as an entree, I've included a picture with a lighter for scale) with side of broccoli cheddar soup. What I received was a small cup of soup, and an even smaller sandwich, that would be generous to even call a slider. The sourdough bread was barely as big as a hawaiian roll. I think the management would be hard pressed to call it an entire entree. My bill was over 20 dollars for this sandwich and a soup. I live nearby and I will not return even for an event (there is FAR better trivia in town anyways). Like I said, if all you want is a beer and great service, it couldn't possibly go wrong here.... Definitely a "must try" in Merced! I dined at Mainzer for Saturday brunch. Staff, ambiance, and food - all excellent! From the time you step in for their order first service model, you are greeted by the super friendly, helpful, and safety conscience staff. The team was attentive throughout the meal, and very pleasant in conversation as well. We decided to sit indoors; the ambiance was serene, perfect for a mid-morning Saturday brunch. I ordered the Bruleed Brioche French Toast which was exceptional! Soft, fluffy texture with just the right amount of crunch from the caramelized sugar. The brown buttered pineapple really brought all the flavors together to make you savor each bite. Perfect portion size, and not too heavy! I also ordered a side of bacon (cooked to perfection) which balanced the sweetness from the French toast. I had the Strawberry-Cucumber Collins to drink, which was a great alternative to your typical brunch mimosa. The Collins was light and refreshing; not overly sweet or sugary. It's exactly what you want on a warm and sunny summer (or fall) day. I could easily sip on a few of those all day. Overall fantastic experience. Next time, I plan to explore their dinner menu.
