I was disappointed with this restaurant. I thought the food would be better considering the grill was at a golf course. I sat in the bar area which was nice. The actual bar was kind of small. I would have expected it to be bigger considering this would be a frequent stop for the golfers. I wanted the cheesesteak eggrolls for an appetizer and was informed they were out of them...okay...second choice was crab stuffed poppers. The poppers were good. This was probably a better choice than the eggrolls. I was a little confused by the condiments - marinara and duck sauce. I tried both with the poppers. Neither option seemed correct but I ended up using the marinara. I ordered the salmon entree which included black beans and rice. They were out of rice. I was asked to substitute green beans. Fine. How are you out of rice!!?!? I would think this would be a kitchen staple. Salmon wasn't horrible and the black beans were okay. The green beans were crunchy. Okay for me personally but I would imagine not perfect for others. Sorry to say this is not a place I would frequent or even return to any time soon. read more

Revisited an old friend,Mainland Grill. It was a great visit. The food was fantastic. We had the boneless wings and loaded totes for apps. The summer crab salad was phenomenal. We also had the baby back ribs... delicious.The staff ( Madison) was very nice and attentive. The manager came over and spoke to us for a few minutes. We will start coming back on a regular basis. Had a group of 21 there today for lunch. Reservation made in advance and confirmed several days prior. When we arrived they had no idea that we had a reservation! Not enough wait staff available and tables weren't set. Our waiter was amazing under difficult circumstances. Several orders were mixed up and many were seriously delayed. Some were finished their lunch before others were served. Since we are "old" friends, we had a lot of conversations and really didn't mind the delays. The men's restroom had no paper towels. Several reminders were ignored even though it was also the employees restroom. My wife ordered the daily special soup and unsweetened ice tea. Didn't arrive.....response by the waiter was they didn't have that soup. The unsweetened ice tea was sweet. I went to the bar to ask for a unsweetened tea because my wife can't have sugar. His response was that their supplier gave them the wrong order. The final "straw" happened as was the last one of our group to leave (probably because I went to the restroom and had no towels again). Manager stopped me to tell me that 2 people hadn't paid their bill. Now, I've known all of these friends for at least 60 years and none would ever skip out on a bill. Ironically, my bill was missing a beverage and I asked the waiter to redo my bill. I sat with the manager and the waiter to try to resolve the problem. The waiter finally found the missing payments made in cash and stuck behind the cash register and never rung in! The manager was somewhat apologetic. The waiter was very apologetic. Will probably not go back. It's mostly about attitude and response to our concerns. read more

This place use to have the best wings around by far! In the last year or so they changed the sauce (more runny), wings are smaller, and just simply not as good as before. This was the secret wing place known by many. It is now average wings you can get at any place serving wings. read more

Walked into Mainland Grille in a Saturday afternoon and asked the bartender if these two seats were open a the bar. He says "you should get a table". There wasn't one person sitting at any table in the whole restaurant!! We said no we will sit here at the bar where there were other people sitting. He starts to clean up our area and comes back and says "you should sit at a table if you want immediate service"..we said again No we are sitting here! We went on a weeknight for a late dinner and while the place wasn't as busy as we expected, we enjoyed every aspect. We sat at the bar where we immediately got service from a very nice bartender. l got a delicious veggie burger and the others with me got salads that looked amazing. Looks like I have a new favorite spot here. It's close by, it's clean, the food was excellent, service was very good and the ambience was exceptional. There was a guy playing guitar and singing and he was real good. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the roast beef sandwich au jus. Both were superb. Pics posted. We used to go for trivia on Wednesday nights. It was packed and fun. For some strange reason they have stopped doing trivia night. We love it here and don't understand why it isn't more packed! Our family comes here (2 adults/2 kids) on many weekends and we get right in ASAP but honestly we do get why more people don't come!? I enjoyed a really nice meal here tonight. I ordered the seafood pasta. It had a generous serving of lump crab meet and 5 shrimp. It had a lot of zucchini and carrots. It was in a garlic lemon sauce that was almost like a soup. My coworker ordered the prime rib and baked potato. It looked delicious. The house red cab wine was excellent. My wife and I stopped in last night to grab some wings. We were greeted by Andrew the bar manager. We had an amazing experience with local beer and delicious wings. Andrew was kind, courteous, and friendly. He made our experience so much better. We cannot wait to go back during some of their specials and drink even more local beer and try even more great food. I was in mainland this past week with my family and let me just say it was awful. My food was cold and tasted like it was reused from previous days... I didnt mention anything bc the older blonde haired lady..I'm guessing the manager seemed very stand offish and rude. I overheard her calling her employees idiots and incompetent to another employee so I decided to not bother complaining. The food was 1000 times better in previous years and the menu now is nothing but fat bar food. I'm a beginner and have found that Mainland suits a range of skill levels. The course is well maintained and appears fairly standard in terms of its layout. It has wide fairways, large greens and pretty unforgiving rough. The staff is very friendly and laidback. Mainland is a great local course for a good price. read more

We are frequent customers to the Mainland Grille but our last visit, Sat 27-Aug, really requires some comments. Their busboy staff really needs seem training as they need to be taught NOT to interrupt a customer when they're speaking just to ask if they are done and can remove the plate. Note to bus boys: I can see you standing there and will pause shortly, but my point to my friends is WAY more important than the stupid plate sitting on the table; so don't interrupt me. You can stand and wait 5 seconds. They also start trolling for plates when you're about 50% done with your food. Last night I had one ask me 3 times if I was done. He was just uber-persistant and would not leave me the h*ll alone. What happens if I can't eat all of entree and want to take the rest home? I would have to constantly defend my plate. Are they paid by the number of plates they retrieve? There must be some other motivation going on here. Bottom line, It doesn't matter how good the food is or how friendly the wait staff is, if the bus boys just start circling like turkey buzzards willing to fight to retrieve that plate; it destroys the dining experience. This training issue must be resolved ASAP. read more

Takes forever to get a drink, since bartender is too busy talking. Food was barely warm when it arrived an hour after we ordered. Great bartender who was also our sever. Martini great, nachos were more like potato chips but the pulled pork on them was great. Cobb salad was appetizing and the cheesesteak w fries was pretty big. Bathrooms clean too. Only reason I gave them 4 stars were due to the nachos being cold . Other then that everything was great. read more

This course suits the average golfer pretty well. It's well maintained and the staff is friendly. There are no really awful holes and several that are great fun. The Whiskey River after-wards is a nice place for a well earned cocktail. The food is typical bar fare but all in all fairly well presented. I'd suggest the mussels when they have them. read more

I was planning on going to the Mainland Grille with some family members on Saturday, on of which recently had surgery and needs to temporarily eat her food puréed. I messaged them asking if anything on their menu could accommodate this and I got an immediate response from Aaron. He was VERY accommodating, even offering to make mashed potatoes for her and they weren't on the menu!! When we got there, the family member chose things on the menu, other than what Aaron and I talked about and he cooked it to her needs & everything was great! My two year old said it best. This is "yucky". We have lived and frequented mainland for years enjoying lots of different dishes and sticking it out through about 5 different "new menus" and chefs. The newest menu, started the first week of September 2017, was a HUGE disappointment. First off, the website did have the new menu but also the bar menu which had some favorites including nachos (one of the reasons why we came so often). My husband's french dip was okay but a little burned on the outside and the cheese didn't seem to jive with the rest of the sandwich. I ended up with a southwest salad, which was good, but when I came for the nachos, it lacked some excitement. It was also quite small for ten dollars and lacked some flavor. My special needs son only eats Mac n' cheese. I am sure you parents can relate to the picky factor! Mainland's OLD mac n cheese WAS AMAZING. Even I loved sneaking bites off his plate. This one had some cavatelli pasta with a "cheese" sauce that tasted like it had been cooked too long and then some of the pasta water was mixed with something sort of yellow that resembled (but didn't taste like) cheese. He literally spit it out. The fries were good. The beer menu now excludes all the local favorites that it used to have (prism!). And finally.... the high chair they gave us was broken. So my son had a ball singing "the people on the bus went up and down" as he pushed himself in and out of the high chair. Oh the joys. Overall, after being a loyal customer for nearly five years, we will not be going back. This is now a "corporate" managed restaurant that seems to lack the attention to detail and a taste for good food. Very disappointing. read more

Got there just after 4 and ordered a couple of half price cheeseburgers with fries for $5 each and they were delicious. Cooked perfectly and the service from Andrew the bartender who served us a few pints (which were fresh and cold) was excellent. Can't comment too much on the food. I just got soup and a house salad both of which were good and fresh but will have to go back and try some other things and update. Staff was very nice and friendly. They made us feel right at home which I appreciate. Atmosphere could use some improvement though. Can't put my finger on what it was but it didn't have a real comfortable feeling - kind of felt like I was in a furniture showroom. I think it was the direct lighting.
