Favorite sandwich place! The inside is eclectic and the owner is super sweet and inviting. I order the TAB every time..turkey, bacon, and apples ! The stone ground bread is hearty and comforting. Lots of options including vegetarian and gluten free! I got the mini (4") MSK cheesesteak and added spinach and tomato. I also got a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup. My sister had a bowl of the creamy asparagus soup and the TAB (turkey, apple, and bacon) on GF bread. She got it the recommended way with banana peppers, onions, and spinach. The combination of sweet, savory, and tangy really made this sandwich!! The creamy broth on the asparagus soup was so delicious. The chicken tortilla soup was also really good with a slight kick and huge chunks of chicken. I do wish it was a little less thick (or condensed), but just my preference. Their cheesesteak came with marinara on the side. First time I had one with marinara, but it had great flavor. The steak was juicy and good, but a slightly smaller portion than I expected. I did only get the mini size though. The veggies were sliced extremely thin and it was toasted before the spinach and tomato were added! Service was excellent- extremely kind and very helpful! The inside was gorgeous with the brick, wainscoting, tin ceilings, and local art!! Definitely recommend this quaint little gem in downtown Stoughton. read more

If you haven't made it in, give it a try!!! Such great service! They came to check on us throughout our meal when they slowed down a bit, knowing we were new to the establishment. They had several delicious home-made options such as the special-- egg salad sandwich on croissant, fresh squeezed lemonade, hearty bleak bean soup, & all the sub sandwich options also! Hot pressed, warmed or cold with several ingredient options, including gluten free and vegan. Our family used Main Street Kitchen for two purposes: catering lunch to a group of ~35 people, and hosting a brunch/baby shower for my sister! The food & price was great. Kim (the owner) was very helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. The shop itself is great for hosting small events - Kim even put up the baby shower decorations for us! Asked for a coffee and they didn't know how to make it... I was charged $3 for water cups. When I asked why I was charged for a water cup, she said she didn't know why and she was sorry but she just did it that way. Cashier didn't know what she was doing. This was awful. Since your meals are made at the time of order for freshness you may have a small wait but you can order ahead of time too. These bad reviews are simply petty and not at all thought out. All and all for years this place has been a staple in the Stoughton lunch scene. Fresh veggies and meats, fresh and tasteful bread. And over the years an added selection to their menu not sacrificing value(other than adjusting to inflation), freshness, friendliness , and cleanliness of this restaurant will forever be a reason while visiting Stoughton I'll always be stopping in for a fresh sandwich and bowl of soup. 5/5 Stars in every way read more

I wanted to stay local to support a Stoughton business but I cannot believe their prices here. I went there Saturday and purchased 3 sandwiches. Two twelve inch and one 6 inches. I got a small Dixie up full of pasta salad and three deviled eggs. When the cashier rang it up it was 58.93. I was in shock! A twelve inch sub is 15.00. The sub was just ok. The eggs were slimy on the bottom. Nothing was that special. If they want more business they need to lower their prices. read more

Location / Atmosphere - A very nice option for a quick lunch when in Stoughton. Very clean and well managed. Seemed like there was a bit of remodeling going on when I was there. Not sure if this is an indication that they are expanding Food / Beverage - I had a soup / sandwich combo when I was there. Chicken salad on a croissant and the Butternut Squash soup. Both tasted very good and 'home made' which was the main reason for me stopping in. Always looking for a place out of the ordinary and not a typical 'chain restaurant'. A few thoughts that I think would improve my over-all experience. Your silverware could be a bit cleaner. It was clean but a bit tiered looking. You also should be proud of your food as it really is good and with this should present it on quality china. Wasn't really impressed with this 'plastic plates'. I'm sure it's difficult and can be costly but it would be nice to have bread choices when ordering a sandwich. Service - Very friendly, pleasant, quick and attentive service. It's always great to be served by people who have a positive attitude and everyone that I spoke to at the Main Street Kitchen was extremely friendly. In summary - A very nice place. 10-15 years ago I frequented the old location for subs during my lunch period when I was in high school. It was always a popular choice among the high school students. I've only been to the new location 3 times for lunch and have always ordered subs. It brings me back to my high school years. The French/white bread is what I remember it, soft, fluffy and fresh. Two of the 3 times my boyfriends bread choice was sold out. They didn't tell him till after he ordered and we were waiting for our food. He isn't picky so he was always able to pick another kind and has been satisfied. Looks like they have expanded their menu to include breakfast and deep fried/hot items. I have yet to try either of those. If you are downtown Stoughton and need a quick lunch, I suggest giving them a try. read more

Still love this place! The new location is wonderful, it's easier to see and will hopefully give them more marketing power. Inside it feels like you've stepped into an old mom and pop shop the mix match use of tables and counters can do that. The sandwiches are still delicious and I love how you can carry a conversation with the staff while they work on your order. The entire environment feels calm and relaxing, might be a great place for me to sit and just read for a day. Let's not forget how fresh their ingredients are and if you ask they always have a good recommendation of what to get or add to your order. The soups are also as marvelous as ever, not to mention their deviled eggs they offer as well. I'm so happy that they have been able to move to a bigger and brighter location. (Just one note I do have to add, I haven't tried the coffee yet, but I have good things about it.) read more

Wish I could give this place a better review because I would like to support my local businesses but after many, many visits I always leave disappointed. Every single order I have placed is wrong or they have forgotten something. The prices they charge for what they provide you is ridiculous. I have stood there in the shop waiting for a single sandwich to be made for well over a half hour with no one else in the shop... The employees seem to be young children that do not know what they are supposed to be doing and every time I have spoken to someone on the phone or been in the shop there seems to be no management whatsoever. This place could be turned around but I won't be going back unless management improves. read more

I used to love going to this place over the years. They had and I think still do have quality ingredients. It's also nice to support a local business. However, on my most recent visit -- even after the lunch rush -- I waited for 50 minutes for my 6 inch sub to be made. That is all I ordered. One 6 inch sub. There were two staff members working and a few groups of customers, but they were by no means packed. To put this into context, at least 60% of their seats were open. Again, it took 50 minutes for a 6 inch sub. I just was amazed and still am amazed how long it took to make that. There were four subs before mine, but still, 5 subs should not take that long to make -- if we take into account the ones before mine, as well as mine. Additionally, this isn't the only time they have been slow. The last couple of times I have gone I have waited for at least 20-30 minutes for simple subs. They get two stars for ingredients and memories but I will not return again. If you have a lot of time to kill and want to lounge around a small town sub shop, by all means check this place out. Good food, great service, coffee not so much This place has good sandwiches, great breakfasts, and very good service. The new location is a huge step up over their previous one. But while the proprietor seems to fancy himself as a coffee expert, the coffee isn't so great in our opinions. While we wouldn't consider ourselves coffee experts by any means, we drink very strong, locally-roasted "Just Coffee" and thumb ours noses at the pedestrian pre-ground grocery store coffee. The two different roasts we tried at Main Street Kitchen were, in our opinions, barely drinkable; they were gross. Overly strong (think espresso strong), HIGHLY acidic, and just not good. They did however try very hard to make sure we were happy and ended up giving us an Americano (which was good) no charge. I applaud their customer service. We will absolutely go back and would recommend this place to others...just with the warning to ask for a sample sip before buying a whole cup. read more

We stopped for a light lunch as we were driving through Stoughton. They offered to make a smaller Sailor sandwich for me which was delicious, with boiled egg slices! The Harvest soup was loaded with a variety of vegetables and not salty. To complete the lunch we ordered small cups of Gelato. And the Raspberry Lemonade had the right amount of tartness. This place is hit or miss. Work orders from here every so often....sometimes it's great. Other times you wonder if who ever made your sub actually ever saw a sandwich. The hot food...lol...yeah, don't bother. I always feel like I've overpaid for what you get. We stopped in for lunch, not being familiar with the area. It was cute and inviting, and had breakfast all day and an array of sandwiches... we ordered Chili and hot ham and Swiss sub. It was so good we decided to get coffee as well. Best chai tea latte I have had in a long long time. The hosts were friendly and attentive, and offered us many choices (make your own sub with bread and cheese choices, as well as custom milk choices for my latte).
