Trek roscoe 8 getting working on at Main Street
Matthew P.

Main Street did great work on my mountain bike. Had my flywheel and a service done to get my bike ready to go back on some long distance rides. The guys were super helpful and got a brand new flywheel along with routine maintenance performed. Bikes ridding like a dream right now and couldn't be happier with the service. Will definitely be taking my bike back here for new parts and service. If you got a Trek or any mountain bike check them out.

I went in looking for a bicycle frame only but they only carry complete bicycle. The prices are compatible with other bicycle shops. The employee was very helpful and came to greet me as soon as I walked in.

Mini cargo bike with custom wheel set built by Main Street Cyclery

I've always had good experiences here . When I was building a mini cargo bike back in 2020, I needed a 20 inch wheel built around a Nuvinci CVT hub . A lot of the bike shops around Long Beach did not even know what a CVT was and would not touch one ( trickier to install and no indexing on the shifter ) . Main Street did an awesome job building my wheel and installing it even though it was a challenge since I don't think anyone else has done it on 20 inchers. They also installed a weird bike part for me ( Satori easy-stem height adjuster ) which required the fork to be cut precisely at a certain length . They did an awesome job . I have brought a few of my bikes here since then for tune ups and the staff has always been professional .

I blew out my rear tire and took it in for repair. I also purchased bell ringer, basket, and new handles. When I came back to pick up my bike, everything was taken care of, basket got put on, bell ringer was on the side that I wanted, and new handles are also put on by the staff here. Aaron was the one that helped me and I totally recommend this place. Awesome staff and fast service!

Ask the Community - Main Street Cyclery

Do you put stans in moutain bikes?

As long as the rim and tire are tubeless compatible, we do stock Stan's sealant here and can install the fluid into the tire.

Why aren't rental prices listed on the website?

Thank you for the question Jennifer! They are not listed on the website due to the fact that we have discounted rates based on half day, full day, and multi-day rental options. The best way to receive a rental estimate is to give the shop a call and…

Do you carry sram battery pack for mountain bike?

Not on hand, we would have to special order the item.

Can they put an electronic bike together?

Yes, we work on electric bikes daily.

They have kept me rolling safe through Long Beach with their excellent tune‑ups, thoughtful service, and genuine kindness. As my dog aged past 15, it became harder to get him in the bike basket, I locked outdoors and it started to look a little rough and sounded squeaky. After my sweet dog Sid passed, I ended up in an accident I caused myself. It damaged my shifter and bent my fender into the wheel. It had some other damage too. The helmet I bought at The Bicycle Stand literally saved my head. That helmet cracked during the fall, but I didn't. Yay. I am emotionally attached to my bike and I didn't want to give up on it, so I brought it in. Tony (from Boston), the crew and the owners, Evan and Nicole, treated me with so much care, even when I was feeling especially embarrassed. They restored my bike so it rides as smooth as the day I bought it. The team does an excellent job and they are always on point. Their helmets have always been top quality. I feel safe every time I purchase essential gear from them. Getting back on my bike with my new helmet feels amazing. I cannot recommend The Bicycle Stand enough. Their craftsmanship, kindness, and long‑term commitment to their customers are unmatched. Thank you to the whole team for 14+ years of keeping me safe, supported, and rolling strong. They deserve 100 stars.

Buyers advise. Please inspect your bicycle upon receiving it from service. I came to this shop to…read morehave new brake calipers installed onto my road bike so that I can fully finish upgrading my groupset. I provided the shop with the new calipers to be installed and have new brake fluid installed as well. I left over 2ft of brake hose on each side so if there were any shortening in the line that had to be made, they could do so. Upon receiving the bike, everything looked great, it rode well, etc. Within a month all the fluid in my rear brake was gone. Further inspection found that they installed my old calipers back onto my bike. I train day in and day out and don't really have time to look for this stuff, I just need to ride my bike. So I safely assumed that the new calipers were returned to me in the bag of other old parts I had removed from the bike, unfortunately the brand new calipers were NOT returned to me. Now, I am out of a bike and have to purchase new calipers again. The reason that the old calipers will not work is due to official notice from SRAM on their compatibility chart stating these brakes WILL NOT work with new electronic shifting AXS brake levers . I informed the shop on this and their response was, "I do not believe either of us knew that the supplied levers were not compatible with your existing brakes at the time of that conversation." As a customer hearing this from a shop isn't good news to hear. So again, buyer advise and take notice of the service being done before leaving.

We tow the Bronco behind our 31' Class C Motorhome. Our first major trip was 6000 miles to the Northwest. Lotsa windy, up and down, and bumpy roads. The arm that held my bike up/on the rack broke about 1/2 way. Luckily it was the inner bike and chained to the bike rack with a thick chain and lock for anti-theft or it would have fallen off. Jax, reluctantly, repaired the arm under warranty. Our second trip was to Key West and over 8000 miles, but mostly flat (although often bumpy) roads. Along the way the metal bracket on the bottom of the long bar the bike sat on cracked and one of the 3 ribits holding it on broke. I used 4 straps to tighten both bikes on the rack the rest of the trip. On our third trip (back to the Northwest) it started getting worse, so I added a 5th strap to secure things. I always had trouble getting the heavy e-bikes on the rack (the Thule "ramps" did not work with the one I was sold), so my son suggested I replace my Thule rack with one that mechanically went up and down. As I researched racks I needed to find out the weight of our bikes. I learned that mine was 71lbs without accessories, and my wife's was 63lbs. That's when I realized that the Thule that I was sold was rated for a maximum of two 60lb bikes! Jax sold me something doomed to fall apart! I will never go back here again...be aware. Their experts are certainly not experts on bike racks!

I found the muffins and donuts, but it took a little longer to find a great bike shop. I stopped by several of them in the Huntington Beach area and I found one that has a real passion for the customer, Huntington Beach Cycles on Atlanta. They recently had to make a tough decision. They got so backed up with service work they needed to lock the doors to focus on repairs which created no bike sales or parts sales for the few days they had to close. I know it's tough on some of us that had bikes in behind closed doors, but I respect a business owner to keep his commitment to service and repair the bikes that he had taken in and focus on his service. During the last several weeks they lost a technician and that put some extra workload on the rest of the staff. Mike did a great job servicing our bikes. I also noticed that the owner of the shop, Kevin, has an outstanding relationship with his team and they all share his passion for the customer. I encourage you to check these guys out or anything you might need for your bike or trike. Mark Petty

I remember going in our 1st time when it was first opened with different owners. They were fantastic & made me feel comfortable. They were not intimidating and the service went great. We took our bikes there a 2nd time, I don't know who the owner was at the time, and everything was fine. This is our 3rd time taking our bikes for service there. This time our experience was not the same under the current ownership. No shade to the owner. He was very nice & pleasant. I'm glad to see a lot of good reviews but that was not my experience. We dropped off our mountain non-e bikes for general service as they weren't running great at the end of the week. He mentioned that they'd be looked at the following Tuesday with an estimate (week 1). He mentioned that it'd be possible to adjust recommended repairs to suit our budget. Great! No problem. Very considerate suggestion. But we didn't hear from him on Tuesday or any day that 1st week. We tried calling a couple times that week but no answer. We tried stopping by at 11 (posted opening time was 10) and there was a note on the door they open at noon. We stopped by another day & it seems there was a family emergency so he'd get to us the 2nd week. We got busy and another week rolled around and a 2nd Tuesday with no news on the repair estimate. We called a couple times the 2nd week & there was no answer. We stopped by around 4:30 and it was closed (posted closing time was 6). We called again that weekend & he said his tech would come in the next Tuesday, the 3rd week, to look at the bikes. At this point, the bikes are sitting in the shop for 2 full weeks going on a 3rd before anyone even looks at them for an estimate. This does not inspire confidence that the bikes would even be done that 3rd week. While maybe they would have finally been repaired in the 3rd week, we decided cut our losses & take our bikes elsewhere. I truly hope this business succeeds, but we're probably not going to go back.
