What a delightful find in Alaska!…read more The chocolate brownie was fabulous. The subtle addition of black beans gave it an incredibly rich, moist texture and somehow enhanced the deep chocolate flavor even further. The jalapeño chorizo quiche was simply to die for--a must-have. I've traveled extensively around the world, and this is genuinely one of the finest quiches I've ever had. Perfectly balanced, packed with flavor, and beautifully baked. The latte with caramel birch syrup was the perfect companion for the Alaskan weather. It leaves you with a wonderfully warm, comforting feeling that lingers long after the last sip. Don't miss the frosted coffee cake with lemon and berries. It's moist, fresh, and makes the perfect treat to pack along for a hike through the Alaskan woods. The bakery itself is incredibly quaint and charming, with beautiful flowers everywhere. It feels like stepping into a warm wooden cabin nestled in nature. The atmosphere is just as memorable as the food. I would absolutely love to visit Flying Squirrel Bakery again. It's one of those special places that makes a trip unforgettable.

A surprise of soft French bread was still delicious but not your traditional crispy bread. I think I actually preferred the bread here as it held the flavors well and made eating it less of a mess. The mint was a nice touch along with the traditional cucumber and daikon but I was missing some of the heat of there jalapeños normally included. If this had been I. A larger market like Denver, LA, Chicago ,etc... I would have given it 4 stars. Governed are 100 miles north of Anchorage with not many choices I gave it five stars because who could have expected a Bahn mi worth eating for $17 in this location. Again price being relatively reasonable for this area options so it's pretty good for the price For dessert I had the Blueberry Rhubarb crisp. Tasty and $7 was fine for this location. Service was friendly but took about 12-15 minutes for the sandwich, the dessert they gave us right away. Remember to bring cash as that is the only option they offer for payment!

We got there around 11am and ordered one serving of spinach bread for the two of us. It was pretty busy and we waited about 10 minutes before our spinach bread was ready. Spinach bread was pretty good! It came out nice and hot and I liked that it was cheesy and soft. It pretty much tastes like what I expected, but was well executed. $9 is a little pricey for one square of spinach bread though, so I'd maybe get it again if I was craving a savory snack

The bathrooms (4) were pleasantly clean and bright, the convenience store had all the basics plus some fun stuff to look at, and the spacious restaurant had all the comfort food items you'd expect. If the weather had been better, we would have enjoyed sitting outside on the flower-lined deck. So, if you're on a long trip and you'd like to stop to pee, eat, and check email, this is your place! Note: A sign on the wall said something about Music Night. Yes, this is much more than a convenience store!
