Back this time for a winter review-- the staff was nice and helpful, but if you're visiting in the winter, expect it to be absolutely dead. It's still fun to take new visitors up to the second floor to check out all the local Alaska-themed decor and items. They even have some fun stickers, like one showing a squirrel as the mayor. But other than that, the energy just isn't the same as in the summer. The store gives me the same vibe as living in Nome--prices are high! For example, Hershey's chocolate syrup was $9.60, and a can of something was $5. That should give you an idea of what to expect. As always, the staff was friendly, and since this is one of the only places open in the winter, you might as well stop in and check it out. read more

If you're on a Princess land and cruise or just cruise tour then your bus most likely stops here, probably to kill time. Princess McKinley Lodge is about 40-50mins from Talkeeta and if they bused everyone in all at the same time then it would be chaos and no where to eat downside buuuut upside, you can stop at Nagley's grab some soda, snacks, ramen, alcohol (locally sourced), sundries, souvenirs all reasonable priced! The ramen came in clutch the next day when it was super cold and we had to wait for our bus at 2pm when checkout was at 11. After reading others reviews I realized the low scores were due to lack of customer service, thankfully we didn't experience that so 5/5 =) read more

We stopped in here as it was one of the only stores open. I ventured upstairs and met "Aurora" the official mayor cat of Talkeetna. The worker was overly friendly and talked about the rain and how Denali wasn't real visible. Today would be a good clear day to see Denali. My aunt bought a ice-cream drumstick. read more

Time traveling? As soon as I walked in, I felt like I traveled back 100 years ago just like I've seen on movies. Forgot to pack something? They will probably have one. Someone forgot to pack deodorant. They only have two kinds. One for women and another is for men. Stain her at a cottage without a shower, deodorant is a must and we were grateful they have one. We also bought some food and drinks. We didn't go upstairs but we're told they sell something (non essentials). I think we ended up coming to this store a few times while in town. When in Talkeetna this is the shop for all your snack needs and a few more things. The clerks were friendly and will help you with anything, as tourists are regulars. We got water bottles and Buffalo meat sticks. read more

One of the rudest customer service experiences. They key to enjoying this place is to make it a game. + 3 points - If the cashier flicks your credit card at you. + 1 point - If the cashier actually makes eye contact with you. + 2 points - For every grunt they make at you. This place is Alaska kitsch without the kitsch. You can get an ice cream cone, pickup some Fireball, pet some fur, or pickup some sundries. Hell, you can even meet the mayor himself: Stubbs. Stubbs is a cat. The store seamlessly merges into the West Rib out back. Definitely worth a stop. Stays open all winter. read more

It's IMPOSSIBLE not to love Nagley's on principle. It's so, SO Alaskan. Every thing about Talkeetna is Alaskan, but Nagley's is old skool Alaskan, replete with deal animals on the wall. It has bare bones essentials (well they DO have cigarettes and ice cream)... a cute little counter where you can read the local paper for free. And this is where the "mayor" hangs out, so yeah, I dig it. read more

Old-school style general store. This place is surprisingly poppin. The staff was friendly and they had the essentials I needed (beer). Buddy also snagged a can of chew. We came in to the store to get ice cream. Not only was it 4$ a pop but the cake cone was crumbling and the scoop was excruciatingly tiny. The whole time the old man was talking to other people and it was extremely rude. Then the old man at the register yelled at me "Sweetheart. Sign the receipt." because I had turned to my friend and was talking to her. So it was a really awful experience and he was so rude to us. read more

Where to start- the $6 box of Celestial Seasonings tea was an eye opener. I get it, we are a ways from town but, wow. I bought it just the same. Support local business, right? We get to the counter to order ice cream, when the clerk looks less than pleased to scoop it... or help us for that matter. We waited patiently for him to help the liquor counter behind him and then help us. Help is not exactly what I would describe as receiving. Ice cream is scooped and plopped into a cup, the freezer door is slammed, the cup bangs on the counter. We say thank you--The look of pure annoyance and disgust on his face. No words spoken. I politely remind him of the tea I intend to pay for. He scans it and throws it down onto the counter. I say "hey, at least your day is nearly over?!" Trying to lighten to atmosphere a little and they were 30 minutes from closing. He snorts. I hand him my credit card to pay and he returns it by flinging it back onto the counter like a playing card. No thank you, no have a good day, no eat sh*t and howl at the moon, nothing.... Also- the little teenagers that frequent this place find it cute to heckle you about being tourists and videotape it while you are just hanging out minding your business. Hopefully someone reading this reminds these people what feeds and fuels a tourist trap that is Talkeetna, AK..... TOURISTS! read more

We visited Talkeetna in June 2017 .. Absolutely LOVED this little town, and we found Nagley's a nice little store, yes it was small, but I have been in way smaller, loved all the little shops all within an easy walk in town. Would we go again? OH YES ! read more

Little general store with a bar in rear. Cold beer and good caribou chili. Odd crowd filling the 10 or so seats.

This is a very cute store but the prices are pretty high. I guess that's to be expected in a tourist town and only store. My only concern is the employee behind the counter ringing me up. A older guy with a long beard (not the best discription for Alaska) but he was intoxicated and rang up my beer wrong the first time and then I saw him pocket some of the money. I hope the owners know they have a thief on their hands. read more

We stopped in here just for a lookielu because of how Alaskan it looked. We discovered a deli in the back with a refrigerator full of prepackaged snacks. We picked up the Indian hummus with pita bread, olives, feta cheese and cherry tomato. This was absolutely the best hummus we have ever eaten! We went back a few days later for more, and complimented the chef. Hummus made with cumin and smoked paprika. Fabulous. read more

Two amazing things happened to me here. First, one of the workers let me borrow her fishing rod and tackle overnight even though I was a complete stranger. Second, this is where we first met Stubbs the cat, who is the mayor of Talkeetna. Hubby wanted soda. 12pk of Diet Pepsi was $7.95. I wanted beer. My growler was in the hotel room so I couldn't get it filled, but a 12pk of PBR was $13.95. Spendy, but for a touristy town not bad. They had snacks, shotgun shells, and everything in between. Service was friendly! read more
