I needed alterations for a bridesmaid dress and the process of setting up an appointment and the transparency of timeline and price was SO appreciated. The results are amazing and I will definitely be back for other events and clothing items! read more

Nice alterations shop in a repurposed home off Madison Ave. I went in with a dress that needed to be hemmed, but was heavily beaded. I was disappointed to learn it was unalterable. Essentially, cutting the dress would cause all the beads to unravel. We talked through any options - we had only 1. Either create darts and "rouche" the dress on the sides (which would change the look entirely) or just leave it long and deal with it. The dress was lined, so I asked her to take up the liner. It was $30, which I suppose is good for her time, but in retrospect I probably could have done it myself for free at the library. The liner isn't visible, so it didn't need to be professionally done. We left it long. I dealt with it. read more

Reasonable prices. On time completion of work. Friendly. This is my new go to alterations place.

This was my first experience getting jeans hemmed and I regret not doing it sooner. I can't believe how easy and affordable the experience was. I dropped off a pair of jeans and a jacket for work and she pinned them up quickly. She quoted me $10 for each item and let me know I could pick them up in a week. Both items were altered so neatly, you cant even really tell it's not the original stitch. I was so excited to wear my perfectly fitting jeans today! read more

I took a shirt in to have a button sewn back on, and it was designed to be under the collar that had an elastic hook to keep the collar from bunching up. When she sewn it back on, it looked alright at first but when I took it home, I noticed after I hooked the buttons that the button was not aligned with the other, it was was farther down than the other button, which made the elastic hook rip off my shirt. She even seemed uninterested to help me and she wasn't busy. Not coming back here. read more

10/10!! I ordered my bridesmaid dress back in April for the October wedding. Well, since this is 2020 and we've been in quarantine, I put on some weight and wasn't able to zip the dress anymore. Oops. With no time to buy a new one I ventured out to Main Street Alterations in hopes for a miracle...and a miracle it was! She was able to take out the zipper and put in a corset back with a panel. Additionally she hemmed, adjusted straps, and let out the underlay part of the dress to give me more comfort. I was so comfortable all day through pictures, the ceremony, and dropping it low all night on the dance floor. Her alterations saved this dress. Considering that she had to rework this entire dress I was blow away by how reasonable the price was. I would definitely recommend Main Street Alterations. read more

The lady was super nice and friendly. She covered my needs with no issues. I highly recommend going here.

I stopped going to Main Street Alterations after Sue offended me one time too many. When I heard she no longer owned the place, I returned to have a suit altered. I brought it in on Friday afternoon and needed it for Monday morning. The seamstress was very pleasant and made sure to have it ready for me the very next day! The alterations came out great and the price was reasonable. The only issue I have is they do not accept debit/credit cards, but it won't stop me from going back. read more

I went in thinking I would drop off a pair of pants to have a seam fixed and pick them up over the weekend. She was great and asked if I could wait a couple of minutes and fixed them on the spot. I will definitely be coming back here with more stuff. read more

I took my wedding dress in to get it altered, and the outcome was beyond words! She took the back out of my dress because I wanted to show a little more skin, and she added straps for comfort. My dress was very heavy so the straps helped keep it up. Overall..she hemmed my dress, added a button to bustle it, added straps, and removed the back for a very reasonable price! read more

Amazing job. Gave her my wedding dress last minute and it was done great and great return time. Fair price

She does fabulous work and very fast. I was in a hurry to have some curtains hemmed and she was able to do 3 very large curtains in just 24 hours. The price was extremely reasonable and she was a pleasure to speak with. read more

I needed the waist taken in on a skirt, and the owner was so helpful and knew exactly what to do! I paid 20 dollars for a button up skirt to be taken in, and the turnaround time was very quick. The whole process was so smooth and easy, I will definitely be taking future alterations here. read more

I rarely need to have an item altered but I needed a pair of pant's hemmed so I googled it and found this place is fairly close. I called them and dropped off the pants that day and picked them up the very next day. It was well worth the time and saved me from the frustration of hemming the pants myself read more

Awesome service! Josephine was able to rush a suit alteration for me same day for a friends funeral - and the work was perfect! Thank you so much!! read more

I had a 1 inch tear in my khaki pants. Drove there and the owner examined it and as able to work on it right away. She was friendly about it and the damage was only $5. The patch up was a great job! I would recommend getting tailored and alterations done here! read more

I took some pants here to have them taken in and the lady asked "if (I) had lost weight, why was (I) still so fat?" She was also bossy and rude to my daughter who was having her letter jacket stitched. Never again, shame on her. read more

Decent place to get alterations done. I took a really nice pair of double lined dress pants there not too long ago. I can usually hem and do some minor repairs as well as some minor alterations on my own, but because the pants were double lined and looked like more trouble than I could handle, I decided to give this business a try. The woman who owns the shop did a nice job, and the price for the job was reasonable enough. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Fabulous work. Took in quite a bit of clothes to be hemmed or fixed and all look wonderful. They're also making very durable cloth masks. Purchased 3 and have no complaints. read more

I took a Rent the Runway dress here last week to get pinned up for our formal event. I did not want it altered permanently, just pinned up for a temporary fix. The lady here was so nice and great to talk to as she pinned up the hem so I would not trip on my dress throughout the night! I highly recommend her. I think her name was Joon Hae (?) or something like that. I am definitely going back for future alterations. On a different note, older reviews mention a lady named Sue -- not sure if it's the same lady, but the main lady at Sue's Alterations just up the street is the reason why I went to try out Main Street Alterations. (Check out THAT review, re: Sue's Alterations) If you want great customer service, this is your place. read more

This beautiful woman runs the shop and she is beyond the nicest person I've ever spoken with and was extremely helpful in getting my alteration done in a matter of minutes. Great for anyone in a hurry read more

I have to say the lady at Main Street Alterations is not only a sweet heart, but my guardian angel. 2 years ago I received word that my grandfather passed away. Prior to that I had lost a lot of weight due to having a stroke and my favorite suit was too big for me now. I took a chance and tried out Main Street Alterations because I was pressed for time and had to be on the road in 2 days. The lady was VERY sweet, measured me to readjust my suit to fit me and told me to come back in 3 hours. When I returned the suit fit perfect and when I went to had her my money for the suit she said no you keep it and just keep coming back to her for alterations. In the last 2 years she has probably worked on 100 plus items and they have all turned out great. I will NEVER forget what she did for me for my grandfather's funeral. I highly recommend this place hands down ! read more

Sue at Main Street Alterations is the best! You can tell how loved she is by her customers with the many photos of her fine work posted inside her business. She does exceptional tailoring and provides perfect, small-town customer service. By that I mean she always remembers me, knows exactly what I need and asks about my family. She even is known to finish work days earlier than promised - what a treat! We all have been going here for years and wouldn't dream of taking our clothes elsewhere. If you're in the area, definitely visit Main Street Alterations. read more

I took a couple of sport coats here, one to get mended and the other to have the sleeves shortened. They were very friendly and completed the work in a timely manner. I was pleased with the final product, both sport coats look great. Despite the fact that this establishment is not located on Main Street, I will be returning. read more

I took my 11 year-old daughter here to have a dress altered for a talent show, and the shop owner, Sue, told her she would be a lot prettier if she lost some weight. She then proceeded to tell her that she better not gain any more weight until her talent show, and that she wasn't allowed to eat any more desserts or have any soda. I will never return to this store again. read more

She was very kind and had such a quick turn around! My dress looked great! She was able to take the sides in so that it would fit and recommended taking in the sleeves since they were big -something I did not think of. Highly recommend her to all my friends & family!! Thanks again - you're the best! read more

Absolutely LOVE this place. Took my wedding dress in as well as a bridesmaid, flower girl and mother of the bride dress. She did an amazing job. Good price and fast turn around time. She was so sweet and even helped occupy my niece while I tried my dress on. Would definitely recommend this place. I live downtown and would travel for the customer service and quality. read more

Unethical business! Owner does bad business!!! My girlfriend and I took a $400 dress she bought to get a couple alterations done to it. The owner quoted us $80 and when we came to pick it up she told us there was some "extra work" that needed done to it and now it was going to cost $120 to pick it up or else she wouldn't give it to us! That was outrageous. In my opinion the $80 was already expensive but $120, that's more than 25% of what the dress originally cost! All that we had done was tighten the dress a little around the waist and bring the length of the dress up by about two inches. I will definitely never return here to get alterations done and I would highly suggest anyone and everyone else to find a different place to do their business! Not to mention the owner was very rude to us which seemingly is something that a lot of people are saying. read more

I almost didn't go in because of other reviews. Please give her a try. Absolutely wonderful and knows her trade very well. Tell her what you need and then trust her to do what needs to be done. I will definitely take my other alteration needs to her. Take cash, she doesn't do credit cards. And if it's a quick fix and she has time she will fix while you wait. read more

It's my first prom and I picked out a dress with A LOT of beading. I found Sue and she is beyond perfect! She is so funny and nice. She worked so hard to get my dress perfect and I love her for it. read more

I wanted an illusion halter put onto the strapless dress I found for my wedding. (Yes, we're talking my wedding dress.) When I went into the shop, she refused to do the work because "Someone your size should never wear something strapless." She told me to "go buy a sweater." (My wedding was in July.) I'm a size 18, FYI. And yes, she knew it was my wedding dress. I guess if you meet her idea of what you should look like she'll do good work for you. If you're imperfect, forget it. I made it out of the store OK but literally sobbed in the parking lot. read more
