I'll give a quick little review. This place is a McFarland staple. And the foods great. Fast. The service is straight to the point, accurate and efficient. It's very similar to a few places in Madison, but this place has a medium size inside seating. Which a couple came in when I was waiting, the guy sang "Main Moon Time." It also doesn't have the Madison prices! Which is great. The crab Rangoon were great. You got 8 for about $9. And the plates were about $9.95 I think. And you got a main dish. Fried rice and an egg roll. Which were amazing, well seasoned. Hot. Sauced. Only think I noticed when waiting was the place, the interiors was a bit dirty. I could see in where they were cooking. It appeared fine and clean there. But the area where you pick up needed a good vacuum. But this place is solid for takeout. read more

I have lived in McFarland basically my whole life and Main Moon is a staple! My family and I order it for pick up once every 3ish months. I love it. I get their egg rolls, beef and vegetables. My daughter gets sweet and sour chicken (10/10 so good!) and my mom gets General Taos which is also very good. Their broccoli is the best. read more

Main Moon is hand's down my favorite place to grab Chinese in McFarland, but really anywhere. No matter what time of day, day of the week, or week of the year - it only takes 15 minutes to get your food. Freshly made each time too. Don't order from the pictures, order from you heart. The staff is so friendly, I'm thinking about proposing in the near future, as I hope to be a part of their family like they've been a part of mine. The food is barely acceptable, the service is not! We have a fairly low threshold for Chinese food in the Madison-area and Main Moon does not rise to the occasion. I was literally yelled at when I asked to have tomatoes added to my pepper beef. Seriously, I felt like I had encountered the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld: "No tomatoes for you." Tried this because it's local. Terrible, bland Chinese food. Not much else to say. Will never return. My wife wanted me to mention her sweet and sour chicken, which was battered fried chicken pieces with a side of sauce in a bowl. When she asked where the vegetables were (like the picture), she was told there is a piece of pineapple in the sauce and that is what comes with it. Good enough for carry-out in McFarland on a cold winter's evening. Ready on time, never had a wrong order, and they're at least reasonably friendly. I eat at Main Moon often because its close by, reasonably priced and food is adequate; however, tonight I got a bad meal. Crab rangoon was spoiled. I could smell it before I opened the bag. The smell of rotten crab was horrible. The chicken fried rice was not spoiled, but was not good at all. No chicken. Soggy, over cooked. I have never had experience like this at Main Moon before. Main Moon has been around McFarland for years. Once they moved to Larson in a much larger restaurant it was a much more enjoyable place to not just grab takeout but sit down and enjoy a meal. This joint has some of the best Asian food around, not your average grease bucket you find at some hole in the wall uptown. They're lunch buffet is also an awesome deal! I mean, 10 bucks for an all you can eat of spicy general tsos chicken, delicious pork lo mein (my favorite, and the best I've had) and fresh steamed veggies, not to mention a free soda with it too! With speedy service, friendly staff, and a clean dining room, this is my favorite Chinese place. The only reason I won't give them 5 stars is the dining room does seem a little bland without much eye candy. But hell, if that's the only qualm I have, I'll still be a loyal customer. I really enjoy this Chinese place because it's local, the staff are friendly, they accept coupons from other Chinese places, and the service is fast. I get takeout here at least once a month and never regret it. They've never gotten a single order of mine wrong, and they always offer me a smile when I walk in the door. This is your average Chinese-American food place that every little town has, but I've never had a bad experience with them and the service is fast and cheap. read more

This past week my husband and I ordered take out. On the phone the woman spoke very good english which was great and resulted in our order being fully correct. We ordered crab rangoon, fried pork dumplings, general tso, and curry chicken and onions. Crab rangoon needed more filling. Fried pork dumplings were super sausage-y (my husband loved them). General tso's wasn't spicy enough for me. It had no spice factor at all. And my husband was hoping that the curry sauce was a little thicker. Overall, great taste though. How could anyone say anything less than 5 stars for Main Moon? Their crab rangoon is unparalleled in the Madison area. Literally everything from there tastes amazing and is made with high-quality ingredients. I live on the west side of Madison and have been known to drive the 20-30 minutes to McFarland just to get Main Moon. It's amazing. read more

We went in for the lunch buffet, and this restaurant really missed the mark. The food was bland, cold, and the trays were not refilled in a timely manner. We didn't see anyone wiping down tables, either, and there are boxes of supplies piled up in the entry way. We had to prepay as well, which I feel doesn't incentivize the workers to provide any sort of customer service. read more
