First time here! We went to the restaurant to order takeout. Big space with a smaller dining area. No one was there eating but many came in for pick up orders while we were there. We got the pork egg rolls, Mongolian chicken, and chicken with mixed vegetables. Our order only took 20 minutes. Our food had good fresh, flavor. We always have so many questions when we order from here. I'm not sure why, but we are always wanting a million things and asking how we can arrange to get all this food, all while not spending $100. They are always the sweetest and answer all of our questions with grace and don't get frustrated. Their food is yummy, but not anything out of the ordinary for a Chinese restaurant. So, you know this type of American Chinese place. Menu board has the generic discolored pictures. School age kiddos are around the place after school doing various stuff to keep busy. I appreciated that my General Tsao's chicken was crispy and hot. It was swimming in too much sauce and the sauce was a little sweeter than I would have liked. But it was hot, fresh, and tasted good. We had our first take out at China King last night. Don't let the exterior of the building or neighboring establishments fool you. When you step inside it is a very clean and quaint restaurant, and had protective barriers for the COVID protocols. The young family that runs it were very nice as well. The take out was great, and ready right on time. The food was still steaming when I opened the package about 10 minutes after picking up when we got home. I had the shrimp egg foo young dinner. It was very reasonably priced and included a large portion of fried rice and egg roll. My daughter got the shrimp lo mein noodles with the same sides. Both were terrific. 5 stars for a hole-in-the-wall, take-out Chinese place? Oh honey... But this is legit the best Chinese takeout joints around in Dane Co. The smiling young couple work diligently to get your orders right and hot and ready. I always order the Spicy Shrimp which can be kind of sketchy from other establishments but you don't have to worry about that here. The shrimps are huge! 16/20 jumbo sized, deveined and tails off. It's always cooked to perfection, tender but not rubbery. The hot and sour soup has the right consistency and quality ingredients. It even comes with a side of crispy noodles. My first experience with China King was most likely a 'one off'. Decided to give this place another try after seeing their most recently posted health inspection. Food was decent and portions were generous. We found no fault with quality or service and out food was ready within 15 minutes after placing the order. My only complaint is that they don't have enough variety of spicey items on their menu. read more

Our orders have always been ready lightning fast, the service is friendly, and the food--General Tso's Chicken, Happy Family, eggrolls, you name it--is hot, fresh, and delicious. It's everything you want in Chinese take-out, yet it's surprisingly not run-of-the-mill. For example, even their white rice is good. I know that might seem like a weird to comment on, but it's true. If you've ever had bland, mediocre rice before, you know what I'm talking about. I'm thrilled to have this restaurant in town. My husband and I have been searching for a Chinese restaurant in the Madison area for a couple of years for some great General Tso's Chicken and we have finally found a great option!! The chicken had a crispy breading and flavorful sauce. I substituted lo mein for the rice and it is the best lo mein I have ever had!! The restaurant opened about a week ago, and I just had my first chance to visit for lunch. The menu is extensive and very affordable. Lunch prices start at 6.55 and top- out at $6.95. Dinner ranges from $6.55 - $12.25. Also a dedicated "health food" section on the menu for folks who are trying to keep their diets on the straight-and-narrow. Great lunch and dinner selections. The restaurant is clean and bright, new furnishings, lots of tables, and is staffed by very friendly people. I had the garlic chicken lunch special with rice and an add-on egg roll. All of it was truly fantastic. Service was very fast. I am VERY glad they have opened their restaurant in Stoughton and I look forward to my next visit! Not worth the stop. We had a lunch combo. I got Hunan Shrimp with egg drop soup. My wife got Shrimp with vegetables. The Chinese part was straight out of the Stir Fry bottle from the grocery. The Hunan part was a dose of red pepper flakes. Exactly four small shrimp and maybe a cup of vegetables. Very one note and hardly an effort in the back. The rice was underdone to the point it was crunchy, well beyond al dente. The soup was tasteless. One particular irritating thing was the drinks. The lunch special came with soup or soda. I picked soup and asked for a glass of water with lunch. Nope. They don't serve water. You can buy a small bottle of water for $2.50. I should have walked out right then. I gave two stars because the food was piping hot but then again, we were the only two customers there at 1 pm. read more

First try was nice :) Ordered for pickup over the phone. Order was The dumplings in the wonton soup were tasty. Eager now to try their hot& sour soup. The crab Rangoon were just how I like them... Crispy & sweet. Both our entrees were good (pork with Chinese veg and chicken broccoli). The egg roll was just ok. Next time I'll skip that and just get the crab Rangoon. But there was so much food. Would easily have lunch for the next day. Good value. And good option for Americanized Chinese food in Stoughton :) We don't often get Chinese takeout as its not my husbands fav. Since moving to Stoughton there hasn't been much in the way of restaurants especially if not pizza/american food. So was looking forward to having a new Chinese restaurant to try! After hearing good reviews in a local facebook group we decided to give it a go. Im glad we did they have good food and quick service!
