Some of the worst fried rice I've ever had, no eggs, peas, carrots, and despite ordering "chicken fried" no chicken. It looks orange like Mexican rice. Also I'm nearly certain they use minute rice. The orange chicken was ok though, same as most Chinese restaurants in taste and more breading than meat. It's very hard to find good ethnic food in this area. This place is better than another local place but much worse than where I moved from. read more

The food tastes great, however the sweet and sour sauce is extremely watery and makes the rice soggy and inedible once the main part of the dish is eaten. The price is way too high for watery sweet and sour sauce which causes a huge mess. read more

I can only speak to take out. To go was quick and stayed hot for half hour ride home. Kung pao chicken had good taste as did beef broccoli. I would def go back. Crab Rangoon were ok. Probably the reason that I dislike all other Chinese food places. China Garden has always been very good in terms of both food quality and quantity, as well as prices and customer service. Probably their best service is their $5.00 lunch special, which is a fairly large portion of your choice of meat, rice/soup, and drink. Their fried rice is amazing, and the chicken is always plentiful and hot. I have yet to finish a full meal at the first sitting, which isn't a bad thing since that means I can enjoy it again later! I would recommend China Garden to anyone who enjoys Chinese food. They do have a more "fast-food" style to their meals, but it is still very tasty regardless. read more

This is the only place in town that offers Chinese food. I used to be a big fan (large selection and reasonable prices) but my last experience wasn't the best. The food was served cold so I immediately sent it back. Even then it still didn't taste the greatest which was a real disappointment! I'll go back again some day because I've had good food there before but this restaurant is on a short leash with me now. :) read more

My sister and I are always looking for great Chinese Food. This one is a definite Gem. The Hot n Sour soup was flavorful with mushrooms and water chestnuts and the portion was large. My sister had the Chicken and Vegetables, it arrived quickly and hot. It had plenty snow peas, mushrooms, broccoli and water chestnuts in a rich sauce. She also had the crab rangoon that was golden in color and excellent. She thought they were the perfect size with the right amount of stuffing. I had an pork egg roll. Followed by Hunan Chicken, I loved the Mushrooms and the chicken in both of our dishes was tender, cooked and a large portion. My dish also had tender crisp broccoli and other vegetables. We both had a full meal to take home. It did not get a 5 just for the bathroom (dingy, but clean) and the plates could have used just a little more rice. If you enjoy Chinese Try it!! read more

Unfortunately, the first thing I saw when I walked in for my carryout was a large bin full of already cooked crab rangoon & one almost empty of cooked pork egg rolls SITTING OUT next to the fryers at room temperature. I'm not sure how long they had been there! The cooks had to have thrown them back into the fryer to reheat them. I had ordered both. Their fried wrappers were dark, chewy and tough which confirmed to me that they were fried more than once. My General Tsao Chicken was below average. The breading had soaked up the watery sauce and the dish did not look fresh either. My husband had chicken & broccoli which was tasty, but the quality of the broccoli was questionable. I will also add that the sweet & sour sauce, for dipping egg rolls, was runny and not a thick syrup, which I prefer. We threw away most of the food because keeping leftovers would have been asking for trouble. It is a shame that China Garden isn't serving fresh food because it has the potential to be delicious. $23 down the drain...we won't be back unless I hear that they have stepped up their food to above BUFFET quality. Now that this review is done, I'm going to take a swig of Maalox. I recommend Peking Restaurant, 10 minutes away, on Milton Avenue in Janesville. read more

This is what it is - a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with good fresh food (prepared while you watch), generous portions, and friendly staff who are anxious to please. I have eaten in, but usually carry out (as most seem to do). Not gourmet by any means, but if you are looking for fast fresh Chinese takeout, it's the best in the area. read more

the best Chinese food in Janesville is in....Milton. hey, it's not far away and worth the drive. I've tried all the other places here (by here I mean Janesville, which is where I live) and none of them are bad. Cozy Inn has good food, but higher prices and they lack consistency, especially with their soup. sometimes it tastes ok, other times it seems they spilled a whole jug of vinegar in it. and that's what China Garden is good at: consistency. I don't want to admit how much hot and sour soup I've gotten from here, but I always know what I'm getting. they have a good selection of lunch specials for $5.22, and their prices for everything else are quite reasonable as well. I prefer the shrimp with garlic sauce from the "special combination plates" section of the menu. a nice portion and an egg roll for $6.95. and again, the quality is always really good, very fresh and flavorful. look for the blue building across the street from kwik trip and do your taste buds a favor! read more

Good oriental food for a small town in WI! We have tried a few things on their menu, no misses yet...the hot and sour soup is always a hallmark for me and it is pretty good, lots of veg and thick broth...not fancy inside, but most everyone does carry out...you can stand at the counter and watch them cook your food...always a plus! Food is offered at a very reasonable cost. Some sprucing up of decor inside and out is in order. Recently moved to Milton and found this little gem of a restaurant...not decorated really, just plain, but that only really counts if your going for the "ambiance"....the food is quite good and they give you a ton of food for the money they ask..I do agree the fried rice is bland but everything else I have had is very good...the sesame chicken, beef lo mein and sweet and sour chicken to name a few...I'm glad we have an Asian restaurant in Milton, so convenient! I barely ever finish what I order and often have that leftover for the next day! The prices are great and most people get way more than they can eat in one sitting. It would be really nice if they spiffed up the inside to look a bit nicer...but again, I go there for the food, not the "scenery"...Try it out, you'll be surprised!
