We ordered beef and vegetables here last night and the food was super salty. The meat was light in color like it was pork. The veggies and broccoli wasn't cooked at all and the stems were inedible. The crab Rangoons were over fried and hard as a rock as were the egg rolls and a dark yellow in color. They tasted like old overused oil. I have been ordering from this restaurant for many years. It's always for the most part, good. Tonight I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp and boy, what a disappointment. There was so much batter on the shrimp that I had to pull off all the batter to find the tails that I was choking on. In doing that, I realized just how small the shrimp are! What a rip-off! We have plenty of choices when it comes down to direct competition and without a shadow of a doubt China House of Whitewater is our Alinea of Chicago. The absolute worst Chinese food I've ever paid for in my life! The beef fried rice tasted like a drunk college kid cooked it. Rice was yellow & wasn't fried at all...beef looked & tasted like gummy earthworms! Not one vegetable in it! The teriyaki beef was inedible. Crab Rangoon was mediocre and had a metallic taste to it. Always hot, fast enough (10-15mins usually but up to 20 when VERY busy), and friendly service. Haven't had something I didn't enjoy yet!

Orange chicken is classic, they use real dried orange skin. This one taste bests with white rice plus hot and sour soup. I like the golden sesame chicken with fried rice too. read more

Better than Golden Wok in my book. This is where my family has been getting our Chinese food for years, and while I wouldn't call it healthy, they definitely manage to hit you with less MSG and grease then you'd expect for rural southern Wisconsin. Don't forget the egg rolls! read more

The best Chinese restaurant in Whitewater. This place is far superior to the recently opened Beijing Buffet, you may not get the quantity you would at the buffet, but the quality isn't even comparable, China House takes the cake. They are generous with their portions when it comes to the General Tso's chicken and Sesame chicken. I have had many bad meals from this place, but have always given them another chance. But I will never eat there again. This time, had sweet and sour shrimp. The deep fried shrimp tasted like It had been fried earlier and had been sitting around for quite a while. It was barely warm, mostly batter that was tough and not crispy. The tiny shrimp that was inside was hard to chew. I also had vegetable lo mein. Every bite had bits of noodles that were hard and impossible to chew, as if it had been made earlier earlier and sat in a warming pot until the noodles on top had completely dried out. The noodles were greasy and tasted like they had been slightly warmed up in a dirty wok with rancid oil. The vegetables were almost non-existent and consisted of a few bits of baby corn and some old broccoli and a few bits of Julien carrots. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Make the 15 drive to Ft Atkinson where there are a couple of decent Chinese take out places. read more

You can get a lot of food plus a soda or soup for about $5 during lunch. The service isn't very friendly but their not terribly bad. They can be very hard to understand, because they're oriental. It is what it is- delicious, fast, American-Chinese that fills you up fast.
