I used to shop here more frequently, but they stopped carrying my dogs'…read morefood in this store, and then I switched to a different grain free brand exclusive to Tractor Supply, so I've had fewer reasons to go. However, my recent visit was a lifesaver (see below) and they get 5 stars for that alone! This is a smaller version of Petco, not exactly a box sized store. They have basics, and serve the community well that way. They DO have aquarium supplies, and they DO have grooming, which is a big plus for locals! If you've ever tried to take a fish home in the frigid winter air, or the hot summer sun, you know how stressful it can be on the fish, and on you worrying about its welfare. Prior to this Petco's existence, the nearest one was Devon, by the Barnes & Noble, which was almost double the distance for me. A few years ago, I was happy to stock my fishtank with neons and a plecko from this store. Yes, that's as exciting as my tank gets, because it's all I can keep alive. My Petco fishies lived as long as can be expected, and I got helpful advice for my plecko, which was valuable because I'd gotten really bad advice at the former Petco location. My fishtank is currently abandoned, but I hope to resurrect it someday for my son to enjoy, and I will head straight to this store to stock it. I have also gotten relatively good deals on antlers here. Antlers and water buffalo horns are usually pretty pricey, but I shopped the heck out of these things online and in stores, and as of the last time I bought some (a couple years ago because I buy several and my dogs hide them and go back to them in this odd dog game they play), but as of my last purchase, this Petco had the best deal around. Most recently, I was tasked with having to get my female dog's anal glands expressed! She is on Prozac and this has somehow made her need expression every so often. It is SO unpleasant when your dog goes through this, and likewise, it is SO helpful to have a nearby grooming salon where I can DEAL with it! Not just that, but it is only $10 for this service, and it's pretty much just drop-in, and 5 minutes, and out the door! Last time I took her to the vet it was like $40, plus a long wait, so heck, this is WONDERFUL! They do ask that you show proof of rabies vaccs, which is standard, and safe. So I am so grateful and happy to have this Petco around, and I hope anyone using them for expression remembers to tip well!!!!!

My partner, kids and I called at 4:48 saying we are running a few min behind. The store said we have a 10 min grace window. We arrived 4:54 within the window. The grooming coordinator Devika was very rude and disappointed that we made it, and refused anyway saying she was busy - even though she said she saw us pull in on time. She had been trying to push a reschedule right from the beginning and shoved it onto us. We spoke to Store manager Sarah who seemed to sympathize - she spoke to the grooming coordinator Devika for 5 min and she returned saying that the issue is we are very busy so we can't take your dog. I was astounded - we followed the instruction made it through rush hour traffic and still made it and were being made a mockery of. We are a family, I took time off work, made it through rush hour on a Friday to be at the store - to be treated with a degree of nonchalance and astounding indifference to customer and situation that had me gobsmacked- I get the harried groomer, but the manager using being busy as an excuse is stunning!! I kept asking her what did I do wrong, which she could not answer. There is something very wrong with this- there is absolutely no fear of accountability which may be a much larger problem that could use leadership attention. I could also use some redress for the way my wife and I were treated. I don't usually use yelp for anything but food but I'm outraged enough that I I feel you should hear of this incident. We have reached out to many levels of their management as well so there is better chance of someone getting back. Looking at other ratings of the store in recent times we are not alone in this. For the record, Sarah refused to be on audio or camera recording in her position, as per Petco policy!

The 2 well known doodle breeders in New Jersey wanted $3000+ for puppies, and I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a puppy. Since we own an older rescue black lab with a very dominant personality, a puppy was the way to go. Jersey doesn't have any more traditional pet stores with puppies anymore after puppy mill laws shut them all down. Living close to Philadelphia, I expanded my search to the eastern part of PA in hopes of finding our dream puppy for the right price. I came across Toms Pet Outlet and wasn't exactly sold on the idea of getting a pet store puppy mill dog. I did some research, and after being reassured by other positive reviews as well as the asking price for an adorable black golden doodle, I went for a visit. The store is kept VERY clean. They do not keep too many puppies in store at a time, which I liked. Since my main objective for going was to get our puppy, I didn't explore the store too much, but it appeared they had just about everything you could imagine regarding pets of all kinds. After having the opportunity to play with our prospect puppy in a private pen, I decided she was coming home with us. She was very clean, friendly, and displayed no signs of abuse or being a product of a "puppy mill". One of the owners helped get me situated with the paperwork and puppy food, as well as giving a started puppy packet of valuable information as well as the puppy lemon law if anything were to be found wrong with the puppy. Zoey is now 4 months old and is honestly the PERFECT puppy. She loves everyone, humans, dogs, other animals, you name it. She adores our 13 year old black lab and they have bonded instantly. She's been in perfect health and our vet is more than pleased. She's almost tripled in size since we brought her home! I'm so happy with our new addition that I would not hesitate purchasing another puppy at Toms!

I enjoy the little events that are held however, the dog training area needs improvement. It is difficult as a shopper to look at cat food options for a finicky little one when there are untrained dogs of all sizes running toward you. The trainer tells the people and dogs to wait but it feels like I better hurry up since I'm interrupting their session. I don't get why any one would want to receive dog training at PetSmart but alas. The shelves are well stocked but most cashiers are slow here. There are no self checkouts so you may need to kill time. The cats are very adorable and the birds are delightful!

My husband convinced me to bring our dog back and give them a second chance and they just shaved him completely. They cited matting around his ears, but it was minimal at best and could absolutely have been brushed out or just the matted parts (again very minimal) be cut out. They also made that decision without so much as calling us to let us know what they were doing. I will never bring my dog back here and will urge anyone considering Petsmart to look ANYWHERE else! They should be ashamed of themselves for the way they left my dog looking. Will never go back.
