I'm reeling with disgust for the way this store in Paoli, PA. treated me for a dog grooming. I had a 4:45 appointment this evening to groom my dog. My partner, kids and I called at 4:48 saying we are running a few min behind. The store said we have a 10 min grace window. We arrived 4:54 within the window. The grooming coordinator Devika was very rude and disappointed that we made it, and refused anyway saying she was busy - even though she said she saw us pull in on time. She had been trying to push a reschedule right from the beginning and shoved it onto us. We spoke to Store manager Sarah who seemed to sympathize - she spoke to the grooming coordinator Devika for 5 min and she returned saying that the issue is we are very busy so we can't take your dog. I was astounded - we followed the instruction made it through rush hour traffic and still made it and were being made a mockery of. We are a family, I took time off work, made it through rush hour on a Friday to be at the store - to be treated with a degree of nonchalance and astounding indifference to customer and situation that had me gobsmacked- I get the harried groomer, but the manager using being busy as an excuse is stunning!! I kept asking her what did I do wrong, which she could not answer. There is something very wrong with this- there is absolutely no fear of accountability which may be a much larger problem that could use leadership attention. I could also use some redress for the way my wife and I were treated. I don't usually use yelp for anything but food but I'm outraged enough that I I feel you should hear of this incident. We have reached out to many levels of their management as well so there is better chance of someone getting back. Looking at other ratings of the store in recent times we are not alone in this. I took our 7lb cavapoo in for a monthly grooming with my 4 and 5 year old boys. Groomer at first refused to take the dog because he allegedly didn't have "rabies paperwork ", except he did as it was dropped off in last months appoint. Groomer was appalled she actually had to do her literal job and look something up, then hesitantly took the dog. My dog meanwhile is so nervous he peed on the floor and she lunges at the animal and he nipped at her UNDERSTANDABLY. She then refused to groom the animal and after a talk to the manger they still wouldn't take him as he's "not safe". My kids were sad and my dog still needs a haircut. Absolutely THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A GROOMER in 7 years of dog ownership. It's amateur hour at this location, GO ELSEWHERE. UPDATE as of 4/11/25: My ex-wife went back to the store with the boys as she was so appalled when I relayed what happened. My son identified the groomer for her and she asked to speak to a manager. The General Manager had gone for the day, and the Assistant Manager was annoyed because a lady who was a customer there had just dropped off her dog and overhead the conversation and was concerned with my ex-wife (and my) expierence. My ex-wife told her not to take her dog to this location and the Assistant Manager told her "you can't say that sweeheart". My ex, obviously offended told him not to speak to her in that manner. This store and employees and management is OUT OF CONTROL at this location. I intend on contacting the Commonweath to file a complaint. Perhaps an attorney needs to get involved for sexual harassment. STAY CLEAR. read more

This is my nearest Petco. I used to shop here more frequently, but they stopped carrying my dogs' food in this store, and then I switched to a different grain free brand exclusive to Tractor Supply, so I've had fewer reasons to go. However, my recent visit was a lifesaver (see below) and they get 5 stars for that alone! This is a smaller version of Petco, not exactly a box sized store. They have basics, and serve the community well that way. They DO have aquarium supplies, and they DO have grooming, which is a big plus for locals! If you've ever tried to take a fish home in the frigid winter air, or the hot summer sun, you know how stressful it can be on the fish, and on you worrying about its welfare. Prior to this Petco's existence, the nearest one was Devon, by the Barnes & Noble, which was almost double the distance for me. A few years ago, I was happy to stock my fishtank with neons and a plecko from this store. Yes, that's as exciting as my tank gets, because it's all I can keep alive. My Petco fishies lived as long as can be expected, and I got helpful advice for my plecko, which was valuable because I'd gotten really bad advice at the former Petco location. My fishtank is currently abandoned, but I hope to resurrect it someday for my son to enjoy, and I will head straight to this store to stock it. I have also gotten relatively good deals on antlers here. Antlers and water buffalo horns are usually pretty pricey, but I shopped the heck out of these things online and in stores, and as of the last time I bought some (a couple years ago because I buy several and my dogs hide them and go back to them in this odd dog game they play), but as of my last purchase, this Petco had the best deal around. Most recently, I was tasked with having to get my female dog's anal glands expressed! She is on Prozac and this has somehow made her need expression every so often. It is SO unpleasant when your dog goes through this, and likewise, it is SO helpful to have a nearby grooming salon where I can DEAL with it! Not just that, but it is only $10 for this service, and it's pretty much just drop-in, and 5 minutes, and out the door! Last time I took her to the vet it was like $40, plus a long wait, so heck, this is WONDERFUL! They do ask that you show proof of rabies vaccs, which is standard, and safe. So I am so grateful and happy to have this Petco around, and I hope anyone using them for expression remembers to tip well!!!!! read more

My husband and I just got a new puppy so I needed to go out and get a few things that the previous owner did not provide. I found most of the items on my list pretty easily, but I needed help figuring out which brand of dog treats were the best. I had an employee help me, and she was so sweet. The grooming services I received for my cavapoo were fine but I am rating Petco grooming services in Paoli with 2 stars because everyone of my 4 appointments that I scheduled well in advance was cancelled on the day of the appointment. Just had my first Adult Dog 1 training with the new trainer Shawn (female) Already, just after one session I am seeing behavioral changes for the good in my dog. I have a concern about a recent grooming visit made to the Petco location near me in Paoli. I had instructed the groomers to only clip my dog's hair so that the clipper doesn't come too close to her skin as we try to avoid closely shaved puppy cuts. Unfortunately, the groomer did not follow the instructions given and my dog came home with hyperpigmentation since she has sensitive skin and a small nick on her back side. The nick I noticed the day of and waited for it to heal, but the hyperpigmentation is serious and is covering her body, which I only noticed after removing the bandana placed on her during grooming. Although I will not be visiting Petco for grooming needs in the future, I am requesting a refund for the service since my vet requires separate appointments for skin and coat conditions. read more

I started taking my dogs here a few years ago. They are older dogs and one has a major phobia about getting her nails trimmed. The groomers have been great. We love Dallas and Steph. Associates aren't very knowledgable at this location so come knowing exactly what you want! They try to up sell, but have no nutrition or training know-how to give you a straightforward answer as to why you should purchase the suggested product! They stock a number of high quality products as well as your supermarket brands that will appeal to a wide variety of customers. I've never had a problem getting exactly what I need when I stop by! I have never seen their grooming salon open in all the times that I have been there and the window location seems to be a bad place for it! Can you imagine having customer walk by while a pet is terrified by the clippers or cage dryers?! Would hate to be the groomer there! I wish pet stores would stop selling pocket pets and fish. I do not recommend this location especially Shawna. I picked up me elderly dog and she said it was the last time (pretty sure it was the first time) that she would cut my dog's hair. I asked her if something went wrong and she said 'no'. She went on to say that because my dog is old that it 'hurts her' meaning Shawna to work with a dog that has arthritic back legs. read more

BEWARE! AVOID THE GROOMING SALON! Brought my dog here tonight because my normal groomer was full and just needed a quick nail trim. Figured it would be no big deal and would be in and out without issue. The female groomer who was working tonight was TERRIBLE, inexperienced, and traumatized my dog. My medium sized retriever mix shakes a little when she is put on the high table to be trimmed but overall well behaved and calm. She first put her on the table, noticed she was a little scared, even commented on this, and then proceeded to excessively kick the raising pedal for the table while not holding my dog (who's neck was in the leash restraint attached) and basically scared the crap out of my dog who freaked out and jumped while attached by the neck. She then held her but now my dog was shaking even more and more upset. She handled her awkwardly while cutting her nails but made it through the front two paws. I was paying attention the best I could but was also talking to another staff member who was trying to get my new account for my dog set up but had been having issues with the computer for almost 20 minutes by this point. While my back was turned I heard my dog yelp and a lot of clatter and turned to see her up on her hind legs grabbing onto the top of the leash holder crying. I opened the door and asked her what was going on and if I needed to help and she said everything was fun but my dog was clearly not responding well to whatever had just happened. She finished up and then told me that she accidentally cut a couple of the back nails too short, which is what lead to the above incident. Upon looking she almost all but cut down her entire back nails and the rest were a complete hack job, clearly NO experience doing this before. She then says that the more I take my dog to get groomed the less scared she will be, like this whole thing was my dogs fault for handling it poorly. My dog gets groomed regularly, petco is the problem not her. Out of all the places to get your dog groomed on the main line, this is NOT the place. read more

My dog is a gorgeous miniature golden doodle named Maxwell. Our groomer was on vacation, so we decided to try someone else at this location being that we had a family photo shoot set up for my son's birthday which was quickly approaching. Maxwell being an Instagram star also had a personal photography session planned along with our family session. When my husband arrived, he informed the groomer of exactly how we wanted the cut and specifically stated to her, "Please do not cut the hair on his face as we like a shaggy look for our puppy." The groomer responded, "Sure, no problem. He will be done in about an hour." My husband asked her if she was sure being that Maxwell's typical grooming appointments last about 2-3 hours. She said yes. She will be done in an hour and will call... red flag number 1! She calls shortly under an hour and when my husband arrived to pick up Maxwell, he was absolutely devastated! She trimmed off all of our puppy's hair and completely clipped of his beard and shortened his face hair unevenly. My husband takes such pride in having a matching beard with our puppy and was speechless! When he sent me a photo of the dog, I was baffled. Our Maxwell looked like a completely different dog! He was barely recognizable. We were so upset that our family portrait was not going to be how we envisioned. Needless to say we canceled Maxwell's photo session until his hair could grow back. I know it may seem like I'm exaggerating, but it's our dog and we requested a particular style for him... it's disappointing when our request is 100% undermined, especially for a service we are paying for. We spent $130 to have something done that was not what we requested. I would have given this place 1 star, but I chose to give it 4 stars because the general manager there Annie T. really did a phenomenal job in working with us to try to make the situation better and even though there wasn't too much she could do to fix the grooming experience, she refunded me and even gave us a little gift bag, which we deeply appreciate! Most importantly what Annie did was respond in such a genuine and caring manner that I felt so much better. She is an amazing manager and certainly deserves a raise. Her customer service skill set is impeccable and I can say that I'm satisfied. I mean any one can give you a refund and a little treat, but not everyone has the demeanor and professional tact to make the situation feel better! Annie is the reason my rating for this store is higher and I just want to thank Annie for being amazing! I even called corporate to notify them of how Annie saved the day! GROOMING I have made appointments with the groomer here twice and both times left with my dogs ungroomed. First time I made an appointment for my dogs I was called an hour before the appointment to be told the groomer was sick. I asked for another groomer and I was told she was busy. I asked to make another appointment with the person calling, but I was told I would have to wait until the next day when the sick groomer came in. Not good customer service, couldn't the store manager make the appointment???? So I tried again today, giving them another chance. I made the appointment and brought my dogs this morning and was asked for rabies info. I was never told to bring the info, but the groomer said her records showed that I agreed to bring them. If I was asked I would have had them with me. Then I ask if she could hold the dogs and I could run one block away and get info. She said she could not hold dogs without their rabies info. She did not offer to call vet or assist in any other way. So I ask if my dogs couldn't stay because their rabies info wasn't presented, do they ask every dog owner who brings their dog into the store to show proof of rabies?????? NO they do not!!!! I have watched people walk in with dogs and no one asks for anything. I am home now and am on their website. NOWHERE does it say that you need to bring rabies information to the grooming!!!!!! These experiences are unprofessional and not customer focused. I am cancelling my recurring dog food orders and saying goodbye to PETCO. Petco, have you heard of CHEWY. Well that's where I'll get my pet products from now on. There are other groomers around I'll use for my dogs. read more

Unfortunately, I don't have any pets at this time. However, I have gone there a few times to visit the adoptable cats. While it's good that they support shelter cats, they stash them in a lonely corner where fewer customers walk by. The cages are dark, too. The cats at least deserve a window to look out, more like the Pet Valu in Gateway Shopping Center. Instead, this Petco uses their window space to show off the grooming salon. read more

I would not recommend this Petco in Paoli PA for grooming. I brought my dog in today simply for a scheduled nail clipping. The Groomer spoke to me in a very harsh negative tone because she was annoyed that my husband made this appt for this nail clipping with the person at the front desk rather than calling the groomer direct which supposedly is now incorrect procedure He has been bringing this dog for nail clip here for a long time and never before needed an appointment so when he arrived for a walk in last week he was told he needed an appointment he was not happy but proceeded to schedule this appointment. Today our dog must have gotten upset because of the way this groomer spoke to me. When she went to trim her nails she bit the groomer's hand. This is shocking as this dog has never bitten anyone before. She is a very sweet but also a very sensitive dog...she must have been afraid of the groomer because of her harsh negative tone. The groomer did not proceed with the clipping but returned the dog to me letting me know that we should not bring this dog here again. Of course, we would not!!! Also this place was dirty. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Petco and the Grooming salon. Salon Manager, Adam and 1 of his groomers, Alexandria, are wonderful. They truly care about each pet that comes in and do a wonderful job in grooming. They take the time to make it a great experience for the dogs that are frightened. Yesterday, Adam groomed my cute little Shih Tzu, Buddy. He looks absolutely fabulous. Last time, Alexandria also did a wonderful cut. Stop by and make an appointment today. The customer service at this horrible. I stopped in the store on Sunday to make an appointment for my two dogs. The woman took my information and we set it up today. When I arrived this morning I was told I needed a rabies certificate. I was never told I needed this. Okay so I didn't have it. The woman at this horrible store didn't offer to have my vet send it but rudely told me I had to take these two very large dogs home and come back with the certificate. I understand there are regulations but I was treated shabbily. When I said I wasn't told of this requirement she rudely told me I WAS TOLD. I will never go to this store again. The groomers here are always very nice. I only ever take my boxer in to get his nails dremeled but they are always happy to take him. My dog also loves going here and is so excited when he sees his favorite groomer. read more

I absolutely do not recommend having your pet/family member groomed at this location. First, they refused to trim my dog's hair. Second, they did not have the proper tools. Third and most of all, my dog came back with fleas!! My dog was a dirty, messy little guy, but he did not have fleas. This incident happened the morning after he left Petco. We immediately noticed unusual behaviors from my dog, he was scratching and biting himself. At first, we wouldn't have thought to search him for fleas however, it got to the point where he was uncomfortable. We found a minimum of 10 fleas on him later that morning. Keep this in mind, we didn't notice it until the next day, so he slept in his bed, rolled around on the carpet, and walked into every room in the house with fleas on him. As far as I'm concerned, that's three strikes. This was the first and last time I will use Petco's Grooming. COVID or no COVID I'm either waiting or grooming him myself, save the frustration and avoid this grooming team at Paoli Petco. P.S. I didn't think to save the fleas to take a picture, one flea was the size of a tick! read more

Petco grooming is the best. I have two young dogs who are wiggle worms so I appreciate that I can drop into the Petco in Paoli to have their nails trimmed. Whether I'm out running errands or after a pet training (their trainer Mary is great if you're looking for help) I can have their nails done. I've also used Petco grooming for full baths with haircuts and been very pleased with the results. I highly recommend Petco grooming. read more

Walked into the Petco in Paoli, PA for a grooming appointment and the store was empty of customers, pets and employees. I had a grooming appointment which I was running 15 minutes late for. I arrived at the store to find no one there. I searched the grooming area, the store itself and the back storage area. I found an employee door, knocked and found two young girls who had no idea I was in the store. The groomer was one of the girls and instead of greeting me and taking my dog she told me that I was late and she would not groom my dog. I walked the store for a good 15 minutes until I found the employees. This store is unsupervised and the employees, especially the groomer have bad attitudes. There will be no more shopping or grooming at Petco for me. I would not recommend this store to anyone. I can only imagine how they would treat my pet. read more
