Posted a 4 star review after having a few great visits. I thought AGS was on the up and up. After this last appt I am downgrading my review to 1 star. My dog was put with a new groomer and she came home with razor burn on her bum and under her ears. She was cut way to close to the skin and has been irritated ever since. Had to take her to the vet to make sure nothing was getting infected and $70 later left with an antibiotic in hopes my dog will want to go on walks again. So, updating my review with disappointment. $220 later (service + tip + vet visit) *** Someone please open a dog grooming salon that pays their groomers fairly so they stay and create strong business!! read more

I used to like to go here. I had an appointment I needed to cancel asking for a call back which never happened. How classless! Is it because I have a puppy instead of senior dog? Not sure and obviously you do not need my business. Most of the staff there engage in inappropriate conversation so good luck to all who still go there to listen in. read more

They were great! I took my son's dog in for the first time. He's elderly. Varian gave him tender loving care and Bruce was bright and happy when I picked him up. They genuinely seem to love dogs. Bruce's hair was so silky! and no cages which would probably have freaked him out. We will definitely be back! read more

First time our dogs were groomed there, the groomer did a fantastic job. Scheduled next appointment 3 months in advance. When we arrived, the owner said we did not have an appointment. I explained that she personally had scheduled the appointment as the groomer was new and she was training her how to do it. I also informed her that I was angry about the error as I had medicated/sedated my 2 dogs for the groom. Owner appeared to become angry at my frustration still insisting no appointment was made. She informed us that she only had 1 groomer that day. The original groomer quit. We will NEVER go back there again. Owner was supposed to call us to schedule new appointment. Still have not heard from her. We will be going back to What a Good Dog for grooming even though it is 45 minutes away. read more

We have had all great experiences at Ardmore Grooming Salon (AGS) since we started bringing our Golden Retriever here! She always looks great and is so happy while there and at pick up. Everyone I've interacted with at AGS is professional and always friendly, making it a pleasant experience for dogs and owners. We'll continue to support this great local business and quality groomer! read more

I have been taking my two dogs to Ardmore Grooming for years. I love the way they are treated there. Varien is the best groomer and very patient -- one of my dogs has anxiety and he has always handled him very well! Robyn and staff are always friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Would highly recommend this establishment!! read more

Avoid this establishment at all costs!!! I regret ever taking my dog here to be groomed. The owner is beyond rude, the parking situation is atrocious, the place is a filthy dump, and the number of scheduling errors made on nearly every visit is literally insane. I was called this week and told that I had missed an appointment on a Tuesday....an appointment that I had NEVER actually made. (I work full time and have only ever visited this place on a Saturday; ironically I also had an appointment scheduled for the following Saturday - 5 days after the supposedly missed appointment). The woman on the phone actually accused ME of being rude to her! The icing on the cake however was when my mom picked up my dog for me during Covid (when no one was allowed in the shop and dogs had to be taken out of the car by a staff member) AND THEY BROUGHT OUT THE WRONG DOG!!! Not only did they not apologize to my mother, but they had a nerve to blame HER for their serious error. After my experience this past week, I looked online at the reviews posted for this place and was literally stunned how horrible nearly all of them are. I rarely write a review but this demands it. Stay away at all costs!!!!!!! I'm just lucky my dog wasn't cut or injured during an appointment like many other reviews state. On a positive note, I just got back from taking my dog to be groomed at Haus of Paws in Devon and could not be happier! The staff was incredibly pleasant, both on the phone during scheduling and at the visit, the salon is beautiful (and appears brand new) and the groomer gave an amazing cut. I immediately cancelled my appointment with Ardmore Grooming Station and will only be going to Haus of Paws going forward. I recommend you do the same!!! read more

Generally very good grooming and average prices. HOWEVER. The offer to pick up from the difficult parking is never available. That means one spends 30 min parking. AND the records management is chaotic. I've learned to just bring copies of vaccination records to every grooming appointment because they lose them or make me wait for 20 min while they look for them. MOST of all the appointment scheduling is chaotic. You schedule, they change the appointment time without telling you, then they call you to scream at you for cancelling or being late for this surprise appointment. They do a good job with my breed but it's not worth the time and stress. read more

Not good. I acknowledge it very much depends on who grooms your dog but i have two labradoodles and both received bad cuts- look like the cuts were rushed. Big pieces seem to have been missed. I never like writing a negative review but this absolutely deserved. I have one mid/large sized and one small dog- 20 lbs. Priced the same. I asked why and received a lot of bs. Small dog is not as good as larger one, her coat blah blah. really seemed like made up answers. The cost was i believe $184 before tip. I included day after photos. I will finish the cut myself. i considered returning but between the difficult parking and bs answers i decided against it. Very dissapointing. read more

Just wanted to leave another review. I was leaving on vacation last month and totally forgot to make an appt to get my pup a hair cut before. I wanted her to look her best for her human grandparents as they watched her. Ardmore Grooming station came to the rescue and fit her in the very next day. She looked amazing and got an adorable st, Patrick's day bandana. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. read more

Grooming was well done, I have been bringing my 2 dogs there for over 5 years. Reception is a total mess: Made an appointment for one dog, they had my other dog listed (he died 3 months earlier). Unpleasant reception lady did not apologize for confusion (blamed me) said we never groomed this dog (been there for years) fortunately staff reminded her my dog had been there before. Gave my cell they called a different number while a waited for almost 3 hours. Unpleasant vibes made my dog very anxious (not the only one as many dogs were agitated and barking). Texted that they do pick up outside, I had to bring in and pick up inside (confusing). No apologies from lady at reception who clearly has an attitude. Parking always a nightmare (none). The actual groomer was very friendly I believe she felt bad about how the receptionist (?owner) handled it all. read more

We were bringing our dog there for a few years, but our original groomer there left the shop, and we haven't been happy since. We didn't know where else to go, as most salons filled up quickly post-covid, so we stayed with AGS for another year or two, just working with whoever was available. The final time that we were there, the owner gave us their newest hire, Bella. Bella cut my dog's face and blamed my dog (and gave me an attitude about it.) My dog was clearly shaken up when I went to pick her up. Why have other groomers at AGS been able to not cut my dog, if it's my dog's fault? The other groomers at AGS kept quitting, so they stuck us with the new person we didn't know, on short notice. I would hate for another dog to get cut or traumatized by this place. read more

Joe did a great job for my curly coated retriever. She had many matted spots due to swimming daily in a creek and delaying grooming due to Covid. They came outside to the parking lot. He was very patient with her. She looked and smelled great. Only 4 stars because parking is such an issue. read more

I was here with my dog last month desperate to get a trim last minute. I didn't get the greatest vibes coming in. The owner seemed sincere, but didn't seem the most welcoming. Maybe it's just me, or I thought that. My dog's groomer tried to meet and physically introduce herself to my dog, but he didn't seem thrilled at all to to greet her. That surprised me since he usually loves people. He ended up hiding behind me. He's never done that at his regular groomers (wasn't like that at his first times at other places too), but I didn't think much of it. Dog peed on the spot, and owner didn't seem happy... but I mean, that stuff happens. Doesn't it? After his grooming and cut was done, they told me he was good but he barked a lot when he was in the doggie area that is gated. And that he was better when he was able to walk around loose in the clientele area. However when I got home, I saw they nipped him on the head with the clippers - probably a mistake, and my dog probably moved, I get that it happens. But I was very upset they couldn't have at least told me about it! That would've been more important to me than about him barking or whatever. It's been a month and that weird cut on his head is STILL VISIBLE. I just can't justify $70 and the trimming wasn't even what I asked for (not enough hair off). The little nick on the head really could've been talked about, I and it's not even that I upset about it happening I just wish they mentioned it to ME. I don't see that as a professional place. read more

Took my dog piper to Ardmore grooming station. We have had her groomed by mobile groomer for two years since we got her as a puppy. I was very reluctant to take her anywhere cause I've heard a lot of bad stories. However I am happy to report that the Ardmore station experience was a favorable one. Lots of good things came out of it. They use good products and it seem like piper was calm when I came in to see her and that she was not upset. The only knock was that it took longer than expected however I am sure they were thorough and wanted to take their time. So not really a negative. read more

Never, never, never take your dog to this establishment. 80% of the time when I walk in with my dog they say I don't have an appointment even though they confirmed the appointment the day before. Their best groomer Joe no longer works there, which they never informed his clients. I clearly learned that Joe's clients received the best services they had to offer. I am looking forward to this business closing due to losing clients. read more

We will not be back. Overall they do a very decent job at grooming but the customer service and overall vibe is subpar. From the moment you walk through the front door they make you feel like you are an inconvenience to them. No "Hi, how are you's or how can I help you?" I know they have many groomers but the one that was assigned to us didn't even say hi or introduce herself. Just seemed very frustrated that we were there in the first place. We were willing to chalk this up to just a bad day but when we went to go pick up our dog after he was finished, the front desk lady said our total was $90. The last time we went it was $85. Wondering why the price changed I asked her where that number came from and with an attitude she responded "I don't know." read more

We love Ardmore Grooming Station. Robin (the owner) is fantastic, attentive and always tries to be completely accommodating with their crazy packed schedule. Our 5 year old Bernadoodle Toby always comes home happy and handsome. I highly recommend this place- have been disappointed anywhere else we have gone. read more

My 11 year old lab/sheppard/husky mix (named Trooper) has a very thick and coarse coat and in the summer its hard for him to go outside b/c he can't tolerate the heat. So every summer he gets bathed, shaved down a bit and brushed by Ardmore Grooming Station. And it really takes so much weight off which is great for him. The entire team does a great job from Robyn the owner to Carrie the groomer to the staff who bathe and scrub Trooper down. I find the staff to be professional and kind, understanding of my dog and his needs, and careful about what other dogs he is around or around him b/c he is a bigger boy. I highly recommend Ardmore Grooming Station. read more

Called 4 times, left 4 messages, trying to get an appointment for my Newfoundland. Never received a call back - FOUR messages. Clearly they do not want new business. If they are too busy to take on new clients, where is the courtesy of a return call? Was able to get my Newfoundland beautifully groomed elsewhere. VERY disappointing but apparently they don't need the business. Call Doggie Style. read more

Their customer service is terrible. The person at the front desk seems to have an attitude. It is always hectic and disorganized in that shop and not a good environment for our dogs who are nervous about going to the groomer in the first place. Their work is inconsistent at best. It largely depends on who the groomer is that day. Sometimes they do a good job and other times they don't seem to follow instructions on how we want our dogs to look. I expect more from a shop that portends to cater to upscale customers and charges premium prices. C- read more

My dog Colby is 9 and this is by far the best place I have ever found to groom him. Extremely clean and the groomers all do an amazing job. Robyn, the owner, is so kind and professional and you wouldn't want more for your dog. I would recommend Ardmore Grooming in the highest regard. Couldn't be happier and my dog always looks awesome! read more

In the past, my Goldendoodle Teddy (age 1.5 years) HATED getting a bath. His legs would shake and I would feel terrible. A fellow school mom recommended Ardmore Grooming Station and I've never been happier. Today, I took Teddy over there and he walked right in and started quietly interacting with some of the other dogs. As there is only one person working the desk, you may need to wait a minute or two before actually handing your dog over, but that's never bothered me. Teddy's comfort is what matters most and if he's happy, I'm happy. And personally, I find the owner to be fun to talk to and the groomers polite. read more

I dropped off my puppy there and wanted him to get groomed. Before I left there, I talked to them that I did not have any requirements because I did not want to give any pressure. But when my dog went back home, I saw there was a cut above his eye area. Nobody mentioned the cut or apologized for such a horrible mistake. It must be really painful when this accident happened to my little boy. Definitely I will not go back again. And I hope everyone should think carefully about this place if you want to take your lovely pets and get services. Just friendly reminder. read more

Ardmore Grooming Station is the best. We had initially taken our dog to a national chain and they could not control our dog and had to stop in the middle of grooming. Ardmore Grooming Station is clean and comfortable which relaxed our dog. The groomer was kind and warm with our dog. Our dog was so happy there and the experience was the best. Plus the owner is really friendly. Can't wait for his next visit. read more

It's hard to rate this place because it's a mixed review. On the one hand, the grooming was excellent. "A" quality work. Then again, it was also significantly more expensive than other grooming salons. Like, by a lot. Maybe worth it; maybe not. It depends on your fussiness level. The reason for the lower rating is the owner. When I called to make an appointment, the phone was answered by an incredibly sweet, engaging young woman who made the appointment and took all of my information and seemed utterly passionate about grooming. The day before my appointment, the owner called to find out who I'd talked to about the appointment, then asked me whether it was "J______" (I will not reveal the person's name here) and that if it was, she just wanted me to know that "J_____" would not be doing the grooming, actually, since "J_______" was no longer working there, having "only lasted about five minutes here." All said in a frankly condescending tone that clearly suggested there must be something very, very wrong with "J______". OK. That's weird, I thought. I wouldn't have known or cared whether it was the same person who made the appointment who does the grooms, as long as the grooming was of good quality, and I was just mystified by a special phone call to let me know, in essence, what a miserable failure the owner apparently considers "J____" to be. Off-putting enough in itself. But there were other weird things. Not only did the owner make us stand at the door inside the tiny gated-off area for 3-5 minutes when we got there at our appointment time while she finished "cleaning up these messes that got left around," but she once again made derogatory comments about "J_____." And while she had called the day before to specify that the horrid "J______" would not be grooming my dogs, she didn't see fit to mention that one of the main roads to access the salon through Suburban Square was closed to traffic in one direction, and then became offended when I said that it would have been nice to know that before coming in for pick up. Did "J______" do something awful? Maybe "J______" is dishonest? Incompetent? I'll probably never know, but the name is unusual enough that if I encountered this person at a different grooming shop, I'd be wondering. And that's just inappropriate. Personally,I experienced enough other strange behavior from this owner, that I'd be willing to give "J______" the benefit of the doubt and assume maybe she just ran afoul of a prickly-tempered person. In any event, the owner of this establishment clearly cares a great deal about quality grooming, and that is important and should count for a lot. That's the reason for the three stars. However, I personally will not return to a business that charges top dollar plus and (1) does not seem to care about the time or convenience of the human customers and (2) violates the privacy of a former employee and disparages them when they are not able to defend themselves. read more

I've been taking my dog here for over 5 years. I tip very well. I'm a loyal customer. Our original groomer apparently quit, so they gave us the new girl they hired. Normally I wouldn't mind, but she was maybe 20 years old and clearly very inexperienced. My dog is hard to handle and Ardmore Grooming Station knows that. They should've given my dog to a more experienced groomer, since our guy quit, because she is hard to handle. When we were finished with Bella, the new girl, Bella proceeded to blame me for the condition my dog's hair was in (even though no one else has ever had a problem with it in over 5 years), and somehow there was blood on my dog's face. Bella said it was because she got a scab off (again "my" fault, and no one else ever did this to my dog). They charged me full price to have my dog leave with blood on her face. They (at the front desk) also always act like I'm inconveniencing them when I come in or call for an appointment. When, like I said, I'm a loyal customer who tips well. I'm done coming to Ardmore Grooming Station and will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

I first heard about Ardmore Grooming Station at Manayunk's Dog Day of Summer event. My dog was in need of a nail trim, and the employees at the table said they can do that without an appointment. I brought my dog in on a Saturday and he was seen promptly and was treated really well! He was scared and instead of forcing him to go up on the grooming table, they came to him on the floor. Will definitely use them again! read more

Our dog is a regular customer and both goes there and then comes home happy pretty much every time. That more anything tells us lots of positive things about the groomers and management staff that work there and how well they care for the pets when in their care. We love Ardmore Grooming station. We bring our fluffy corgi here and they always do a great job. The environment is relaxing and our dog feels comfortable here. It doesn't take all day. thought a great establishment.... senior dog that stroked there at last grooming ... she did not recognize me and had a head tilt when picked up- groomer for 2 plus years was leaving for new career in a few weeks and owner showed no concern when said my zsa was going out took payment and said she would call... 2 hrs later Zsa had to be put down by Gladwynne vet hospital as she suffered a stroke while at Ardmore grooming station.... while she was elder , owner never called... I called groomer next day to see if anything extraordinary happened... waited 10 plus minutes to speak to her ... told she would tell owner and 48 hours later no call , I called Robyn and told a busy time of year... please do not trust them....horrible WAY TO DO BUSINESS !!!!!!!!! AND WHY WILL MY COMMENTS REFUSE TO GET POSTED.......????? read more

Needed a cut for my 16 pound Lhaso mix. I agree the owner is a little stand-offish but sincere. Groomer greeted my dog and we talked about the cut style. On the phone they said it would take 2 hours, but it only took 90 minutes. The cut was exactly what I had wanted, the dog was happy and relaxed, I was very pleased with the process, and will return. read more

The staff and groomers at Ardmore Grooming Station were professional and friendly. They clearly love dogs and love what they do! Looooved Ardmore Grooming Station! We just moved to the area and we nervous about taking our nervous mini golden doodle. The staff was so friendly and not forceful at all. She was done within 1.5hrs (other places take 4 hours) because when they start your pup, they finish her (other places sort of juggle multiple pups at a time). Plus, when they were finished, there was space for our pup to run around and release some energy. Looooved it. Definitely recommend. read more
