It's true from the outside, you wouldn't expect much. But the people who run it are friendly and very knowledgeable. They are also fish hobbyist with lot's of good tips. They don't try to sell you something you can't handle. Fantastic prices. Since they also bread some of the stock, they know exactly what your fish or shrimp or plants need.. Also, they keep trying to improve their store. They are willing to help you. If you want good advice, listen to this guy. Ps: I did, and now my first shrimp molted. That means it grew. I didn't give 5 stars because I believe you always need room for improvement. My credentials: fish hobbyist on/off for 50 years. Moving makes being a fish hobbyist problematic. read more

Drove 30 min from lansdowne to check this place out and I will 100% be returning. Great selection of salt and freshwater fish in healthy tanks. I came for some aquarium plants + shrimp, the plants were in great shape and there was an amazing selection (including floating plants which box stores rarely have). They had a plethora of colors and varieties of shrimp, and took the time to catch a bunch that I wanted. I was helped by someone super knowledgeable and answered my questions for about 30 min. Price was beyond reasonable when I checked out and I was so excited to get everything into my tanks. Can't wait to stop by again! read more

Excellent service. Healthy fish. Jeff is so knowledgeable. I started going here years ago. The owner is never pushy and will always help you with any questions. He will never sell you things you don't need. Fish are always healthy and he guarantees that. Many of his fish come from local breeders. If he doesn't have what you are looking for he will try to find it for you. If you truly love the hobby then this is the place to go. It's one of the few privately own fish store and one of the best. Great store. You don't see a lot of privately owned fish stores these days. It is under new ownership. I had a chance to meet the new owner (Jeff). He was very knowledgable and eager to help. The store is much brighter, cleaner and organized since I was last there about 3 months ago. Nice fresh and saltwater specimens including coral tanks. It's a very very nice fish shop. Exotic fish that are rare to come by & so beautiful. Fish tanks are always clear & clean. Fish are always fed & healthy. We went twice during published business hours and the store was closed. Made it in yesterday, but had a difficult time sorting out what was for sale and what wasn't. A lot of the stuff wasn't priced and the employee, Tom (I had to ask, you certainly couldn't tell that he was an employee), seemed to just throw out random prices - strange, but not terrible. However, after settling on a few corals and 1 fish, he told me that he couldn't sell me the fish for that price (it was clearly marked $60, right on the tank, only one of that fish) and that it would be $100. I was a little put off by this, but moreso by the rude and condescending attitude that he took, right in front of my son. We walked to the other aisle where I suggested another store to my 12 year-old; however, Tom interjected himself into our conversation with rude remarks - I was floored, I couldn't believe it. Not only did this place lose a $300+ sale that night, but I'll never give them any business. It's one thing to quibble over a few dollars, but to treat potential new customers so poorly just indicates a badly run business. read more
