Ok I get it Penn Yan fine dining is lacking. So I understand the weird menus plural. Who serves rabbit? Unless you're in Spain. The decor is wonderful!!!! Giving it a Scandinavian look. It also has a local Penn Yan boat hanging over the bar. Great local theme. First impression cadence the hostess is fantastic! The rest of the bar crew. Need to brush up on practicing eye contact and communication skills. Cadence could teach the rest. The bartender got impatient with my wife about the wine selection. Like her asking the Residual sugar. Which my wife is a dry wine drinker. And is only trying to fine a wine she would like. We were totally ignored by the blond bartender. I am sorry I didn't catch her name. Who never asked if there was anything else. Even when they bought the entrees to the bar. Price$$$$ To sit at the bar to eat! Incredible!!!!' All I can say with the boat crowd it's lacking. I do hope they can get things straightened out. Winter is coming and the tourist will be gone. The menu will have to change. We made a reservations several weeks ahead for a special occasion, party of 10. We arrived and were seated immediately, in the room and area we had requested by phone. The menu is unique and has many options for sharing plates and meals. Also a nice cocktail and wine list, even non-alcoholic options. We started by sharing the clam bake and the whole fried fish. Both portions sizeable for everyone to sample, and delicious. For dinner, we all ordered different entrees, and we all thoroughly enjoyed. Bbque rabbit, scallops, confit chicken, schnitzel, and smashburger. Again, good size portions, and beautifully presented as well. Service throughout our meal was excellent-drinks arrived right away, water glasses filled, all 10 meals arrived at the same time, waiter checked on us regularly. The interior and exterior spaces here are incredible. The owners have taken a long favorite Keuka lake space and honored local traditions with a modern flair. I wanted to like this place but it was disappointing. We went for brunch - first impression was that it is beautiful inside. Very friendly staff. A lot of them were standing around waiting to fill water glasses. (We were seated right next to the kitchen with limited view of the lake.) We asked to sit outside but the hostess told us they weren't seating people outside for brunch. Less than 5 minutes later, two parties were seated outside. My husband and I just looked at each other in disbelief. (There we're plenty of tables still available outside so it wasn't a reservation issue either.) I found something on the very limited menu to order- buckwheat pancakes and my husband ordered French toast (you can't get just a normal eggs breakfast.) He liked the French toast. My pancakes were terrible. I ate about 3-4 bites then eventually let one of the women standing around take them away. Admittedly, I was asked how everything was (after my first bite) and I did not complain. I figured that I picked the item, so it was my mistake but I thought someone would ask if everything was ok when I sent most of my plate away. The owner (I believe) and a manager were walking around but they did not bother to ask us how everything was either.) We are out of town and make it to the lake about twice a year. We won't return here on our next visit (too many other choices.) Unless something changes, I doubt this place will stay open very long. read more

Dinner with my wife, been by several times and watched renovations during last fall, stopped in for drinks one night over the summer with friends and decided it was time for a date night. Had reservations, wasn't very busy, no one at the check in station so we went to the bar, no greeting from the bartender who was fixing a couple drinks so I grabbed a drink menu and we looked it over. Then he finished up just as 3 young girls came in and sat next to us, yep he went to them first and didn't even say hello. We had two old fashions with speed rack four roses $30 ok I guess. Went to be seated and the very nice woman said the waitress will be right along, after a while the woman came back with waters and menus and said the waitress will be with you shortly, again wasn't very busy so no worries we weren't in a hurry just surprised. Menu was as nice, pricey proteins were $26-$50 everything else a la carte. Veggies/$8-9 and salads $12-14. Nice wine list not much local and $40-$280 a bottle. We had a nice dinner and dessert and coffee, the waitress was very nice. The room was quiet bright right before we left which was close to closing the finally turned it down. We were here over this past weekend while visiting from out of state on our yearly trip to the wine trials and someone recommended this restaurant so we wanted to give it a shot. First, the property was beautiful and our server was very friendly and helpful. Though my boyfriend liked his meal, we did not much enjoy the appetizer, my meal or the dessert. It seems very chaotic and was not very busy. Everyone seems to have too many tables or jobs to be able to focus on their main purpose of being there and it showed. Our meals were forgotten by the kitchen and took nearly an hour to get to us. The lobster hush puppies and the lobster pot pie has little to no lobster in it and was underwhelming. We were offered a a free dessert because of our meal mishap, which happens and was very sweet on the servers part but the dessert was also not very good. We noticed a few people waiting for meals, or a bartender or someone to just take the check. i assume this is a new establishment and may just need some attention to management but for me the food was not worth the price. i wish them luck in the future but we won't return on our next trip. read more

The ambiance is incredible and the decor was carefully put together and they did an incredible job. The menu is more upscale but very good I had the Rabbit and was so good. We had mussels and charcuterie board for apps and was very good. The sauce for mussels was insane. Service was great and very helpful. Drinks were ok but need larger pours and more variety . Went downstairs to the bar and had live music and that was so much fun and bar was better. We stayed till around 11:00 Overall incredible job and very happy to have them open new restaurant. The service at this restaurant is atrocious. The server was confused as was the bartender. We waited 20 minutes to get water 30 minutes for drinks which came after the appetizers. We order a bottle of wine with diner they couldn't find it. Took three requests. Finally we asked for a round of drinks off... they gave us 20% ($26.00) on the drinks for a $440.00 bill. I am a year round Yates County resident who decided to give the newly open Main Deck a visit despite the negative reviews on Trip Advisor detailing over-seasoning of food, tiny portions, high prices and reservation issues. I was also concerned about the limited menu and the items on the menu, which seemed be weighted towards winter fare (rabbits and schnitzel). But YOLO so I gave it a go. Last night (8/13/2022), my wife and I arrived at Main Deck for dinner at 5:15. There were no cars in the parking lot, and the dining area seemed to be completely free of diners. Nevertheless, I was informed that the restaurant was overbooked for the evening (!), but bar seating could be provided. I told the hostess that thanks, but fortunately there are many other dining opportunities in Penn Yan. My wife and I did a very quick drive over to the Mansion at Keuka Lake, arriving without reservations. The gracious hostess assured us there would be no problem and quickly found us a table outside. The view from the Mansion is the best view on Keuka Lake, and she seated us so we could savor it with our meal. The menu at the mansion is much superior to Main Deck's as is the view. The pricing seemed to be better, and the staff was completely professional. We had a great dinner! And as we were enjoying dessert/coffee a doe and her two fawns arrived on the spacious lawn and provided relaxing entertainment. My advice to diners would be that there are better dining alternatives to the Main Deck in Penn Yan. You only need to spend some time looking. read more

The building renovation is beautiful however the food was awful for the price. Our NY strips were full of fat, hard, and the chef precut the steak down the center. We ordered potatoes and received one small red potato and two fingerling potatoes. The server only checked on us twice, never offered salt/pepper nor steak knives and dessert offering was limited. So needless to say for $165.00 we will NOT be going back. read more

We went here back in April and the food was great. Worth the cost. But we went back last night and it has gone way down hill fast. They may have lost there chef, I don't know, but it was not good especially for the cost. Our server, Tory, was great but the food was below average. Took my family from VA here and will never go back there again. My cousin had ordered the Venison Beef Wellington and he asked if there were mushrooms (he doesn't eat mushrooms) and the waitress said it could be made without mushrooms. 45 minutes later the waitress brought out my meal and my cousin's wife's meal and informed my cousin that the Venison Beef Wellington could not be made without mushrooms so he told the waitress he did not want it. They brought him out a menu and he ordered something different. In the meantime, my broiled fish and French fries were both cold and the same for the fish fry dinner my cousin's wife had. We ate our dinner while they were making my cousin his meal. We were finished eating when they brought out the Pork Tenderloin. We had waited 45 minutes for our meal and why did they not come and let us know that the Venison Beef Wellington couldn't be made without the mushroom way sooner than 45 minutes. They did take the price of the dinner off the bill but it was the principal that they should have let our waitress know way sooner that he would have to choose something different. Main deck on the ropes tonight. Second time I tried this nice environment. Seated at 6:00. Could not get a drink order for 25 min. People complaining all over the place. Manager got an earful. Felt bad for servers. Don't think the manager was supporting the staff. Manager should have been all over the place offering apologies to the tables, help staff sever and bus some tables, show your staff and customers your concern. Really poor show. I always blame leadership. Servers didn't have a chance tonight. read more

Bartender was extremely rude and entire staff acted like they couldn't be bothered to serve or seat us. Hostess said they had no tables - fine, totally expected for a Saturday night. We asked to sit at bar and walked into a mostly empty dining room where the bartender told us the part of the bar we were sitting at was occupied. No sign of anyone there for the time we were there. (No drinks, belongings, etc.) Asked if there were any seating options or the wait time and the front said "no". Strange experience. We went here during their first full week of being open. I am giving them a four star review because Overall it was an enjoyable experience and one of the few places in Penn Yan for finer dining. There is loads of potential here. But there are a few rough spots that need to be ironed out. The positives: gorgeous space. The site was a boat building company Historically, and the decor picks up on that theme beautifully. The owners have clearly put a lot of money into renovating the space. The main floor is a beautiful smart-elegant Space with huge windows on all sides that look out to the lake. There is beautiful outside dining as well. The lower floor is a much more casual, open air bar. We did not eat there but it also looked like it could be fun. They have a small docking area and we were told that they are building a larger one for next summer so that more boats can dock there. Another positive was the menu. It is a little eclectic and a bit ambitious, but the food was well prepared in general. A few notes about that in my below. There is a sommelier, which is rare in this area, and an extensive wine list featuring many high-quality local wines from some of the top wineries in the Finger Lakes. The staff are friendly and there seem to be plenty of staff in the space. Another positive: the food was delicious and largely well prepared. At our table, we had the spaetzle and schnitzel, The apple raisin and arugula salad, some with chicken and some with snapper, the grilled romaine salad with chicken, and a farm salad. The salad greens were fresh and the tarragon and the Parmesan dressings were delicious. The snapper was nicely broiled and well seasoned. The chicken was a bit bland, according to my table mates. The spaetzle and schnitzel were also delicious and well prepared. The opportunities for improvement: the coordination among the wait staff and kitchen needs to be improved, as with so many new places. The runners were not well versed in the table numbers, and peoples dishes were being given to the wrong tables. Further, our server had tables all over the restaurant, rather than being confined to one section. This meant that she was often out of sight for a long time. Not her fault, but she really had too much to do to keep an eye on tables scattered all over the large space. The handheld computerized devices for placing orders need to be fully programmed before giving them to the wait staff to use. There were multiple menu options that had not been programmed into that handheld computer, so the server had to manually type them in. This resulted in a lot of frustration on the server's part, as well as difficulty for us ordering our food and beverages. We ordered dessert, which took us fully 40 minutes and multiple requests to the wait staff to check on, before we received it. And it was not something complex like a custom-made soufflé - - they were easy-to-dish pre-prepared things like rice pudding. Finally I would recommend some attention to presentation. As I noted above, the food was delicious, but there seemed to be no attention to how it was presented on the plate. For example, the spaetzle and schnitzel came out with the schnitzel on a dinner plate, the spaetzle in a bowl, and no garnish. It would have been very easy to put the spaetzle on a plate, layer the schnitzel partially on the spaetzle, and apply some type of garnish to give it some color. The lemon icebox pie was light and fresh. The rice pudding was a bit bland but the pistachios on top added a nice touch. I would definitely go back. As I note, I gave them 4 stars because it is their first week and there is such potential here. I am confident that they will work out the kinks and look forward to coming back next year when we return to Keuka for our annual vacation! read more

Our first time there, we went to the lower level (used as a waterfront bar in summer) to hear a guy play guitar (he was great). We were able to purchase some 'small plates' to nibble on . Food was good. Half priced drinks. Only 1 employee working down there and she was hustling but they could have used another person for sure. read more

I was delighted by our experience at the Main Deck. Normally I steer clear of pricey restaurants because I am easily disappointed. If either the food or the service isn't top-notch I feel ripped off. In the case of Main Deck, I was not even slightly disappointed. The service exactly matched the mood of our group and the food was exquisite. Stopped by last week as we were visiting family in the area, our experience was superb! The service was great and the food impressive! This restaurant is very elegant, yet it its ambiance feels very homey- best of both worlds! We absolutely loved the fine decor, and loved all the windows with such great views. The decks surrounding the restaurant are simply breathtaking. The lower level of the restaurant was so beautiful and relaxing- fire pits and all.. Was expecting a much better menu. The restaurant is beautiful and has one of the best locations on Keuka Lake. Service was great. Unfortunately the New Orleans inspired menu is limiting. We had the Bbq rabbit which was so dry and tough. A venue if this size and caliber should have a more diverse menu. Italian/Mediterranean would be a slam dunk. Hope they stay in business. read more
