Mai Thai is a great, local restaurant where you can never order a bad meal. The edamame is always a good start. I love the wonton soup as well. I always get the pad Thai because why mess up a good thing. My husband has tried several different dishes and each of them have been good. This place is a hidden gem in Northern Kentucky. They have the best Asian/ Thai food. Definitely some of the best pad Thai around town. They make great sushi as well. The food is always fresh. Surprisingly awesome for a place that looks like a Long John Silvers (apparently it used to be LJS). We were craving Thai and decided to give it a shot. We had never heard anything about the place, so we really weren't expecting much, but we were blown away. The service was good and the food was absolutely incredible. My wife and I have been going to this lovely restaurant for over two years. When we started going there the place used to be pretty empty, but this situation has changed, especially during weekends. That being said, we absolutely LOVE this place. I've pretty much eaten every item on the menu and still haven't tried anything that I didn't like. The three-flavors walleye or the orange chicken are fantastic. All the curry flavors are awesome. They rate food spiciness using a scale that goes from 1 to 4 star, however they are not very consistent on the delivery. I always get 4 stars and my wife gets 3 stars but sometimes her food is hotter than mine. Either way I still find 4 stars somehow mild, so if you like heat I'd say go for it. I love the ambience at Mai Thai, I was not expecting much at all when I went so was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly service and food came quick. I would try and avoid the peak hours because it gets busy and is a small space. Sesame chicken, sushi, curry, seaweed salad, bean thread, and lo mein I can confirm are all very tastey. In the past I have only dined at lunch this time I was dining for dinner. Ordered an appetizer of yellow tail sushi. Sushi was tasteless and slimy indicating it was not fresh. Chicken pad Thai was very poor. Noodles were over cooked, small amount of peanuts just dumped on top, beansprouts were not fresh. Overall was more like a poor sweet Cheap Chinese stirfry. Cannot recommend the place. Maybe it's changed hands in the last 2 yrs. overpriced and a place to avoid. read more

Pad Thai was reasonably priced, but the salad was overpriced for what you get (about 1 cup of iceberg lettuce, 2 slices each of tomato and cucumber, a couple slivers of onions, shredded carrots, and ginger dressing). Ordered the massaman chicken curry. If I had a bathtub full of it, I'd eat the entire thing. Or bathe in it. Maybe both until I ate it all. Got 3/4 for spicy, and it was the right amount. If you like it spicy, probably wanna go with level 4 spicy. I got take out, so can't speak to the service or the interior. But I've always loved Thai food and cook a good bit of curry myself. Went here as we were passing through. I love Thai and saw this place had good review. It was a Friday night and crowded. We didn't wait long at all. 2 adults and 2 kids. I got Pad Thai with chicken, mild. It has a slight spice to it. I can't handle spicy and it was good. My husband got the Mango Curry, Spicy lvl 3. He likes spicy and said he wish it were spicier. *****VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!!! (per our server, every sauce is made with fish sauce)****** I love thai food. I have had thai food in ever city i've lived in...cincinnati/nky, new york city, minneapolis, las vegas, and currently live in chicago. Visiting family over thanksgiving weekend, I suggested we give mai thai a shot. My family is a bit weary of trying new things, but given my experience thai food, I was sure they would find something they liked. Well they did, I DIDN'T! Upon sitting down and looking over the menu (of which I already did online at their website and yelp) I was looking forward to trying their pad thai. Pad Thai with tofu is my favorite and I usually always get it every time I go for thai food. Well, here's the thing, I am a vegetarian and can't eat fish or shell fish. I always order my pad thai without fish sauce. No problem at any thai place in ANY place I have gone to in the past. Thai restaurants are practically on every other block in chicago and every place makes your meal to order without fish sauce if you ask, and some don't even use it. It is the same in every other Thai Place I've gone to as well. NOT Mai Thai! What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! I asked the waitress if their pad thai had fish sauce in it. She stated she did not know. So I asked her to check with the kitchen and find out. She was very reluctant to do so. Standing there looking at me like I was a crazy person just saying she wasn't sure. She then asked why I wanted to know and that if I was allergic. I said yes(usually saying that makes it pretty clear that one can't have it) and that I was also a vegetarian. She went to the kitchen and came back and told me that EVERY sauce had fish sauce in it and that the dishes and sauces can't be made to order because they are already prepared. WHAT!!!!!!??? She then continued to say that soy sauce doesn't have fish sauce in it. (DUH!) and that I could have the sushi and chicken for dinner. Once again, I reiterated that I don't eat meat and can't have fish. Then she offered the soups (made with chicken stocks), and fried tofu that was served with fish based sweet and sour sauce according to our server. At that point I had given up. I offered to stay so my family could eat, but they refused. Needless to say, we left hungry and very disappointed. I am only giving this place one star because I have to. (Let me also state that I was very clear with my communication and the server spoke well enough english to understand what I was saying. So a language barrier would not have been the issue) I have never been to a thai restaurant ANYWHERE that can't leave out a particular ingredient in the dishes. Fish sauce isn't even needed to make the dish!! I find it hard to believe that they refused to leave it out and make the dish fresh. I've made pad thai at home, granted it isn't as good as take out, but it isn't that hard. Needless to say I will be getting Thai Express (where they don't use fish sauce) the next time I want Thai food in cincinnati. And my family won't be going back either. read more
