Before coming here, I used to get my eyebrows waxed in a few places. But once they messed up my eyebrows with the wax and weren't gentle, I decided to try threading. An old friend of mine recommended Mahro's and ever since then, this is the only place I come to get my eyebrows done. The lady knows exactly how I want my eyebrows. Since I have naturally thick eyebrows, I like it that way, but I like to clean around them, threading extra hairs around my eyebrow shape. The lady who does my eyebrows never disappoints! This place use to be good. I use to have Nilum (sp?) do my eyebrows and she was great. I even continued to see her after I made an appointment and they changed the schedule on her the day before my wedding and she wasn't there when I arrived. I've been back a couple times since she stopped working there. Everything she did in helping me grow and shape my eyebrows was a waste. I can't stress how bad my eyebrows look. There is only ever one lady (two if you're lucky) working. And they raised their price to $12 and took away the stamp card. The threading was OK. I've had my eyebrows done at two other places, by three other people, all of whom were at least a little bit better. But the service wasn't bad: just OK. My issue is with the business practices here. There are no "hours of operation" posted on the door or window of the store, but both here on Yelp and on the Paseo Colorado website, it says they open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. I arrived then and they were closed. They did not arrive until 10:30. I asked about the hours of operation and the website, and the employee said "oh yes, we have to work on that." This is not something to work on. It is just something to do. It seems I am not the only person on Yelp noting that they do not value customers' time by keeping posted hours. The location is pretty hidden and you have to pay for metered parking. It doesn't take too long to get it done. (15-20 min or even less) It was completely empty when I got there so I didn't have to wait. I didn't catch the lady's name but they thread everything and you can feel every little hair being pulled, I'm guessing it's cause the thread they use is very good. (Which is a good thing because you know they are getting those baby hairs out of there) She kept my eyebrows thick and arched it a little too much. People make mistakes, I'll come back and try it again though. 16$ for upper lip and eyebrows, which is a pretty decent price. I **specifically** asked for my eyebrows to be kept thick..."natural looking" with an arch. I briefly shared the horror stories of people taking off half of my eyebrows. So...after all that, what did I send up with? THIN EYEBROWS!! That I **specifically** said I did not want..... I used to get my eyebrows done perfectly by this lovely lady at Ziba in Glendale but she retired. *cries forever* As hard as it is to get someone to do my eyebrows correctly, I used to tip her $10 every time. She was always amazed at how much I tipped her but I was perfectly fine with it. I do not mind paying for good service. I've been trying my best to find a replacement only to be disappointed every. single. time. It's really not that hard to take off a little, let me check then go from there. Why be in the business of doing eyebrows if you don't have the good sense to know....if there's a hair or two missing from a certain spot...maybe customer can fill it in with makeup. That doesn't mean take off the whole damn eyebrow. And then with the strategic removal of all of my grey hairs. Umm...why? WHY? The greys can be easily covered with makeup. If you try to take out all the greys, I might as well shave my brows and draw them on. No need to go to a brow shop to deal with the frustration. #commonsense *sigh* Last time someone did this to me, I didn't pay and they offered me free service for my next visit. Mahro has been precisey threading my eyebrows for years. Her threading is lasts (4-8 weeks) longer than when I used to get my eyebrows waxed. Face threading specifically exfoliates and soothes sensitive skin and targets hair follicles that grow deep within the skin, as the cotton thread glides along the surface of the skin to remove hair and any dead skin cells. The cotton thread twists the hair out of the root, and while doing so, exfoliates the layer of skin to reveal soft and glowing skin. The thread exfoliate works against the top layers of the skin to improve dulling surface cells and reveal brand new, smooth skin. Mahro's threading is far less painful than waxing, sans the chance that the top layer of skin is removed by harmful chemicals. Wax can sometimes be contaminated with previous clients' bacteria from wax that be used on various clients when waxing. Threading does not pose this threat. I held out for a month or so waiting for her to come back from what Mahro said was "on vacation!" I gave in and Araceli did my brows. I figured I had no other option. Just to wait patiently until my brow lady came back. Araceli is a nice girl but brows are not her specialty. She doesn't know how to shape them. I found my brow lady!!! I've been coming here for two years and never disappoints me. Always when I get them threaded they look so clean and nice. The place is very clean and they are really nice! They thread based on your brows and you can say how you want it but usually I get a clean up. Clean up is just cleaning of the shape I had before and taking the hairs that have grown out again. I'm not a Pasadena regular but my son is taking a class for 3 hrs every Sunday and I find myself exploring....This shop is decent on the inside but because it's in such a nice shopping center I feel it could be much more polished to attract more of the right clients. That being said, the women are very nice and hospitable. I told them that I had 2 bad experiences being cut by threading and they we careful and gentle. Now when it comes to my eyebrows, I DO NOT play! I am very meticulous about them. Your eyebrows take so long to grow the way you want them to , well mine at least. So I moved to Pasadena and we know that with moving you are left to find everything over again. My precious eyebrow lady is a bit of a drive away and she has become hard to reach. I decided I would review and try a place near me. I came across this place and initially was eager to see Sita whom everyone raved about. To my surprise she is no longer there. So I find this out while I'm sitting in the place. It's now my turn and I hate to be the one to just walk out lol so I gave it a go with the Owner. (Always use the person who everyone talks about or the owner) Needless to say Mahro was great. She gave me a clean up and offered suggestions and asked if I was willing to make the changes (I wasn't) but, I told her I will see how this clean up holds and we can discuss later. My sister and I always go to this place and we loved it until today. We walked in to get our eyebrows done and this lady who told me her name is Arpi began telling my sister and I that our eyebrows were crooked and she couldn't fix them that she can only take out from the top. First off my sister and I always get our eyebrows done there and the ladies there have never said things like that to us before instead they gladly fix them. I tried explaining that to her but instead she wanted to argue with me and basically chased me out arguing with me. That is UNPROFESSIONAL ARPI! If you're going to work at a place where they thread eyebrows plan on fixing them and not arguing with the customers. Next time I see the owner I will make her aware of the type of customer service Arpi is providing. Btw Mrs. Arpi if you're going to judge customers eyebrows I suggest fixing yours first. Rude!
