I had my brows laminated for the first time ever with Christina. She came highly recommended to me, but ultimately, now having had my brows done by another artist, I would not go to Christina again. First, I feel she could've been kinder when she missed my messages over a five day period. I never received an apology and in person, she was not the warmest person. That's fine, though, not everyone needs to be super bubbly! Second, I thought it was incredibly uncomfortable to sit in a chair with no back support for the entire duration of my brow appointment, which was close to an hour. Again, having now gone to another artist, most have a bed where you can lay down and relax. I actually asked her about this and she said the bed is only used for lashes. Finally, I thought she did a fine job, but having had them done by another artist, I like my brows much better by the new artist. All of this said, I had initially gone to her once before just for shaping and tinting and I thought she did a great job. I've attached a photo of that service. Updated review to include my experiences during COVID. Christina strictly follows protocol, ensuring both her clients and she remain safe and feel comfortable. So I found Beauty Bee on a general Google search and just picked a place based on appearance of website, price, and location. Next time, I'm going to do more research. I'm giving it two stars because my visit there was in last July and I was going to give her six (okay, so it's been seven) months to get back to me. Christina is really nice, her new location is small and hidden, but really charming once you're in there. I did eyelash extensions and there were moments where I felt like my eyelid was pinched. There were other instances where I felt like some of the glue might have gotten in my eye. I'm not sure. Anyway, when I emerged from the 2 hour session, my eyes were bloodshot and my eyelids were a bit swollen. She assured me this would subside. The next morning, my eyes were even worse and still swollen. I couldn't even put on my contact lenses! I had to text her super early and ask her to remove the lashes because I had a WEDDING to be in THAT DAY. Thank goodness she was able to squeeze me in. Hence the other star. She didn't charge me for the removal of the lashes, and she called me the Monday after. She let me know that she was going to get some glue that was suitable for sensitive skin and we would do a test run for that. She also said she wouldn't cash my check. I told her she should go ahead and cash it because she did all the work, but maybe we could work something out with the other glue. I still haven't heard from her. But she did go ahead and cash that check with the generous tip. So in the end, I ended up $200+ short, red swollen eyes, no eyelash extensions, and very lovely memories in photos for my event. SWEET. The beauty bee is nice. In terms of brows, i expected more... Way more. I have scant eyebrows so i was hoping she could make something out of them, especially for the price. I mean my nail salon lady in upland gave some nice brows for less than 10 bucks. I thought if i paid more to a person who specializes in brows, i'd get the brows i always hoped for. Nope. She was sweet and nice but not overbearingly nice and more importantly, she did a FANTASTIC job on my eyebrows. She took awhile since it was my first time and she had to start setting the shape. By the time I found Christina Medrano, my eyebrows were a thin mess. I had been abandoned by my favorite brow gal at Anastasia and was on the search for someone to replace her with. I tried two different people back at Anastasia and a girl at the Threadbar, none of whom, could compare. I finally decided (after a friend gave me a hard nudge) to try Brauhaus in Old Town Pasadena. I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive at first, since Christina is billed solely as a make up artist on the Brauhaus website, and I don't wear any make up. However, after sitting in Christina's chair that first day, I could not have been more thrilled with the job that she did with my brows! It wasn't until I tried to make my third appointment with Christina at Brauhaus, that I found out that she was venturing out on her own. I was sorely disappointed, because I didn't know where she went and was on the brink of having to start my search for a new brow girl AGAIN... I can't tell you how glad I was the day that Christina contacted me to let me know of her whereabouts. I now visit with Christina at her new location inside of Valerie's Hair Studio in Sierra Madre. It is a bit of a drive, but it is completely worth it! She really takes her time to make sure that my brows are proportional and well-shaped before she puts on the finishing touches and lets me leave her chair. My eyebrows are not too thin or too think, just regular but they do have some patchy areas. We spent several minutes discussing my lash goals and what kind of look I was trying to achieve. She was patient with me even though I wore mascara to my appointment which is a big no no!
