The front office is great about giving a breakdown of costs and confirming that you are comfortable with the amount required and work needing to be done. I have been going here for many years. Great friendly service that has always ended with excellent results. The hygienist is efficient and thorough. All the staff is amazing. I've had crowns and fillings over the years and I have been happy with my teeth every time. I recently cracked something and they were able to get me in right away. My husband and I have been going to Dr Albouz for 30+ years. I am not the easiest patient as I will do just about any thing to not go to the dentist. Dr Albouz has been gentle and gained my trust through cavities, tooth removal, root canals and implants. We also work with Dr John and he is also amazing. My hygienist is Jenna. Let me start off by saying; I think Albouz is a great dentist. I have been going to him for over 20 years. Rita is his office manager and does all the billing. I recently needed 2 Crowns and was charged $2400.00 for 2 Emax Crowns. After speaking with my insurance company, I was told the maximum I can be charged was $1300.00. It did not matter the material used in making the Crown. Their contract has a set price and they can not exceed it. My wife contacted Rita and after 30 days, I was refunded $1100.00. Not long after I received a letter from Dr. Albouz's office stating I should look for a new dentist. I tried reaching out to Dr. Albouz but he never responded. This only applies if you have insurance, if you don't have insurance, they can charge you whatever you're willing to pay. The insurance company told me that this is an on going problem, 9 out of 10 people will just pay it. I hope this helps someone down the road. read more

I want to clarify my review after speaking with Mona the office manager. I should have kept my comments to my own experience without incorporating information from other reviews posted here. I didn't mean to imply that I was overcharged or billed anything because I only agreed to the work that my insurance fully covered. I shouldn't have called them dishonest based on just a feeling before I have shopped around for pricing at other dentists. I agreed to the extraction rather than a crown the doctor was recommending partly because insurance covered it and because I had crowding anyway I knew I didn't want another root canal and/or crown. However I did receive a price list for out of pocket costs for the recommended work they still wanted to schedule not covered by insurance and it seemed very high so I need to shop around and that's what I told them when they wanted to schedule more work. Mona reminded me that I also had Novocaine when the doctor did the extractions and didn't I have a problem then with the numbing? No absolutely I had no problem with the doctor. And if I had stopped there, I would probably have rated the business higher because he only used about 4 quick injections, teeth came out quickly and painlessly, and numbing wore off in about an hour. So it wasn't the numbing, it was the person doing it. The hygienist seemed surprised that I mostly slept through the scaling of the gums. A little online research showed me that a side effect of too much Novocaine is drowsiness. She said that she'd take it as a compliment that she was so gentle that I could sleep but I think it was the heavy hand on the Novocaine. It seemed like she was putting it in me for the first 5-10 minutes as opposed to 4 or so quick injections. I definitely asked her to stop. . So I wouldn't change my rating now and unfortunately they have cancelled my next appointment to finish the work, when all I wanted to do was finish the cleaning on the other side of the mouth with a different hygienist, and without numbing at all. Maybe they don't have anyone else right now besides the one hygienist and I agree that I should not come back there at this point and never wanted to have that same hygienist again but they have left me in the lurch with half my mouth done and half undone because of this review which only is another aspect making it a bad experience. Along with the changing of the appointment time without my knowledge or consent. So in summary, I should have kept my comments more focused on the three main reasons for the bad review and they really don't have to do with prices or my experience with the doctor himself or the extractions, just the hygienist and receptionist. Being left in the lurch makes it an even worse experience now because I have to find a place that wants to agree to do just one half of mouth. So now there's 3 things about the appointment that really sucked making it my worst experience with a hygienist ever. 1. Thinking and worrying for many extended hours after returning home that she had maybe hit a facial nerve and paralyzed me on the left side of my face, mouth, nose, and lower eyelid. 2. Getting harangued over the time issue when that at most was only half my fault and mostly their own fault. The hygienist should have taken it out on the receptionist not the customer I feel. And the receptionist said "we'll see you then" not "don't bother coming, you need to reschedule" when I said that I would be there "about 4:20", and my dashboard clock said that I pulled in to their parking lot at 4:23. It was most unpleasant of her to get in an argument with a customer about if it was 4:00, 4:15, 4:23, 4:30. My dashboard clock goes by satellite and not by a computer in their office so it's probably more accurate. Is what I told her when she said my clock must be different. Because she explained that the block of time was 4-6 and if she got started about 4:30 and done at 5:45, that's only a little over an hour that she worked and got credit for 2 hours. I didn't keep her any later. I didn't move up my appointment time. 3. Getting left with only half the job done. read more

I have been to many dentists in my lifetime, but once I went to Dr. Al Bouz, my search for dental treatment was over. He and his staff are always friendly and professional, from bi-annual teeth cleaning to full on emergency surgery. He has a special surgical wing where sanitary is top priority. "Dr. Bouz" seems to always find time to say hello to everyone who enters the building, and sets those with apprehension at ease, and is the best dentist I have ever had. Best dentist around! We've been going here for years, but this past experience I have to Yelp! My son had a skateboarding accident and broke his front teeth- one about 3/4 off and one a slight break- on a Saturday- we had to get in right away being that the nerve was exposed. He met us at the office within 10 minutes of my emergency call- that goes right to him, not a service! Took care of the root and cleaned him up- when he finished with him- you can't even tell anything happened! Yes, he has a cap- but they are PERFECT! Waiting to pick up his mouth guards this week! It is a shame that I have to write this review but I feel that it's justified considering the level of incompetence and outright deception I have encountered from Dr. Albouz and his staff. I have been to Dr. Albouz for YEARS. I went into his office in October for a regular exam and teeth cleaning. When I get there, one of the staff told me I was not insured with Delta Dental because she could not find me in the system in an accusatory tone. When I clarified that I was in fact insured and had her verify, she was able to find my policy with Delta Dental. The administration staff have always had a trend of being rude since I've been going there but Dr. Albouz always seemed to counteract that. During the exam, Dr. Albouz said I had two cavities and that work was needed. Didn't seem that big of a deal but when I got the bill for the two cavities, it was over $800 for my end alone (over $900 for the insurance). I was quite shocked at the treatment costs. It was that high because the procedure was for Onlays, which are partial crowns. I felt something was wrong so I decided to get a second opinion. I went through another exam and this one was able to identify 5 cavities in total compared to the two identified by Dr. Albouoz. Additionally, the treatment plan to take care of the cavities were simple fillings since all the cavities were in the very beginning stages. When I told the dentist who gave me a second opinion of what Dr. Albouz wanted to perform, he said it was unnecessary considering Onlays were used for severely damaged teeth. Lastly, everything to take care of the cavities cost me less than $200 out of pocket. The insurance took care of the rest. To wrap this all up... Please believe all the bad reviews. They're quite justified. First, Dr. Albouz should have been able to identify all 5 cavities considering how long he has practiced, which shows how incompetent he is. I wonder what I would have had to gone through in the future considering that the other 3 cavities were left undetected. Second, for Dr. Albouz to try and ripoff patients like this and prescribe a treatment plan that was completely unnecessary and unjustified shows he has no moral conscience and a crook at heart. When I think about the other treatment plans he has performed on me, it makes sense why they were so expensive out of pocket and I wonder if they were even necessary in the first place. Lastly, this review is only the tip of the iceberg for me. The next thing I will be doing is reporting Dr. Albouz's practice to the Better Business Bureau and Delta Dental for the crap he tried to pull. read more

Had work done by Dr. bouz approximately a year ago. Evaluation, cleaning (painfully done by staff), and three crowns. I was in pain for literally months. Went to see him approximately month later because the pain would not go away, did nothing, said it would go away. It did eventually, 2-3 months later. Now, only months later after paying over $1000 on top of insurance, crown on molar cracked right in half while eating a salad. Called his office, never got so much as a call back. He seemed like a nice guy, but guess that was poor indicator. Would not ever go back. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Bouz is a great guy! Secondly and sadly, the office has gone down hill in the last 10-15 years. The office staff is not very good. they fail to call back and appointment reminders are iffy, if they even call at all. They do not know how to bill insurance. The dental staff are terrible. During a routine cleaning, the technician who acts as though she is very competent, cut my tongue several times during the procedure. The crown I had replaced failed in about 4 weeks. Dr Bouz only comes in at the end to check the work and there are always different dentists working on you. Sad to say, I won't be coming back here. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now. Dr was the first one to figure out that I grind my teeth and have sleep apnea. I love my hygienist and everyone has alway been nice and accommodating. To me it is important to find a dentist that is personable and doesn't want me to feel anything. I have found both here! I was in need of a lot of work to restore some bad neglected teeth and a dull smile. The staff is personable and very understanding not to mention accommodating. I'm 20 year old and they had the audacity to tell me I had 3 cavities, 3 wisdom teeth I needed removed, laser gum removal due to severe gingivitis, and TMJ. After that diagnosis and a painful gym shanking by his staff I was determined to get a 2nd opinion. This dental office will not bill your insurance. I have Delta Dental and they bill the patient for the entire procedure. I confirmed the patient portion with Delta Dental and found out that I have been paying the full amount and they have not even sent any cliams to Delta Dental. For instance, for a porcelain crown, the patient portion is $90.00 on my plan. I was billed the full $350.00 and Delta has never received a bill. I have paid well over $1,000 in procedures that were billed as cash and never billed to the insurance. I would not recommend this dental office due to its dishonest billing practices. If you have gone to this dentist contact your insurance, as I did, to see how much you too have been overcharged! read more

Dr. Albouz was a master in the art of dentistry. I had a tooth extracted (implant to be put in later), and a crown put in. The work was done same day and I had relatively no pain. Two days ago I call Dr. Albouz's office in San Dimas to see if they provide a service that I was looking for. So over the phone I was told YES "we do provide that service. So, I made an appointment, filled out all the paperwork(because it was my first time at this office) did what I was supposed to do. I was told that I would need to pay a $55 consultation fee and I said ok. (Because I was told that the service I needed was PROVIDED at this office. I sat in the chair and Dr. Albouz came in, looked at me for 5 seconds and said sorry I can't help you. So he basically took my $55 for 5 seconds after I was already told that they could help me. So I asked if I could get a refund because he only saw me for 5 seconds and they said "Sorry, can't, it was technically a consultation." Keep in mind when I first called the front desk receptionist didn't even know what I was talking about. I think you, "Dr. Albouz" should teach your staff what you provide and what you don't so people don't have to waist their hard earned money on a place like this. .Definetely not a good dentist. He seems so nice but he's sneaky. He gains your confidence and when it comes down to the treatment he gets his associates or employees to do the treatment. My son had baby root canals done (supposedly) and 2 awful ugly looking fillings not only that but my son had discomfort. Done by Dr. Natividad. Next day after my son had his fillings I went in to show them the crapy work that was done. Holes on the fillings and drooping on his gum with excess material. Dr. Albouz which is the owner of the office never even came out to see my son. The receptionist made me open my sons mouth and show her the so called complaint I had. She sat on her desk as i stood there and she typed away on her computer for a few min. When she looked up she gave me my money back and said that Dr. will no longer see my son. I told her I could not believe those words were coming out of her mouth and she just stared and so did her buddy in the front. I asked her for a refund receipt and she said she could not print one. I come to this office hurting and in need of work and dr always makes sure to take care of my pain. My 5 year old loves going to him and has no fear of the dentist the girls there are very nice and always try to work with us I have been going there with my family for 6 years now and my billing has always been done right never had a problem with it and if I had any questions I would call and speak to the biller and she would break everything down for me and my wife my appointments are always confirmed the day before and the hygienist is very gentle and kinda always try's to make u feel comfortable.
