As I needed three dental implants, I got an appointment with Dr Ammar. When it comes to your teeth, you shouldn't think twice, you must go to a real good dentist. You don't cut corners . If you shop for the cheapest dentist, it will cost you a lot more at the long run. In short, my bone graft procedure went very smoothly. I can't believe I didn't feel any pain and the results were incredible. Dr Ammar was patient, calm, careful and very professional. His staff were very caring and attentive. so I really wanted to give Dr. Ammar a 5 star rating since I am also a healthcare professional and I completely respect what they do! I didn't want to be a hater but I have to be honest because of how much money I spent. I was referred by my dentist because I wanted a cosmetic procedure to make my lateral incisors more symmetrical. One tooth had much more gum, while the tooth on the opposite side had much less gum(I liked how this tooth looked because it appeared bigger). Before I went to Dr. Ammar, my dentist had recommended that it may be a good idea to just take gum off one tooth to match the other tooth since that would be cheaper than getting the gum graft, which I also agreed with. I wanted to be careful with how many procedures were going to be done because it was all going to be out of pocket since it was for cosmetic reasons. Anyways, so I got to Dr. Ammar's office for a 5-10 minute consultation. He recommends gum graft(to add gum) AND gum lengthening(to remove gum) to both lateral incisors. I tried to mention I don't want to do both but he insists I need both. That short consultation was $155. I get the gum graft. It looked good at first but it basically over the span of 3 weeks receded back to the starting point, which really seemed like a pointless procedure. There goes $1000. Then, I get the gum lengthening procedure where he was suppose to "remove" gum from the other tooth to match the other side. There goes $500. A week after the procedure I noticed it did NOT look any different. It appeared as though NO gum was removed. I literally paid $500 to miss a day of pharmacist pay and get my gums all beat/bloodied up for nothing! No difference. I went to the follow up and told him it did not look any different and he told me it would tighten up and recede after the inflammation goes down. It NEVER did! I spent ~$1600 out of pocket to get my gums beat up and they do really not look any different from the baseline consultation. I could have went back but I do not want to waste my time or money and take time off work to have a procedure that does nothing ! I was very excited to finally get my smile fixed and I am so disappointed he was not able to do it. I do not recommend this office and I will be going else where for my procedures. Especially do Not come here for any out of pocket procedures. This place appears to be a rip off! $155 for a 5-10 min consultation also seems pretty ridiculous. read more

I was referred to Dr Amman by another dr to make sure everything was fine before I proceeded with treatment. First, the staff had no idea what they were doing. I had to go get my own X-rays from the dr. Second. I was taken back and Dr Ammar came in and started looking at my teeth without me knowing what the hell he was doing. He was rude, condescending, confrontational and didn't feel like he should answer any of my questions. He made me feel stupid when I did. He also told me that I need all this crazy and costly dental work. I got a second opinion, and I was told that my teeth were fine. If you get a referral for this guy, ask to be sent to another company. He's only out for your money. read more

Got an appointment confirmation call 24 hrs before my appointment. Needed to reschedule and was told I needed to have provided 48hrs cancellation notice. They assessed a $200 fee for cancellation. Did not provide me with any information regarding the procedure and after care required when I scheduled. Would not recommend this business. Went in to inquire about having an implant done along with a simple extraction. During consultations I was quoted several thousand dollars for the implant and $450 for the simple extraction. Later we decided that their cost was to much for the implant and opted just to have the simple extraction done. Now! Since their profit margin was reduced by not going forward with the implant, they elected to now inflate the simple extraction from their original quote of $450 by adding another $1400 for bone grafting. Having several implants I am familiar with the process of bone grafts and know that they are only needed after extractions when your intent is to put in an implant. I advised the staff that I had no intention of having an implant after the extraction,hence I did not need the addition $1400 expense of a bone graft. I was floored when I was now advised that the doctor puts bone grafts in all extractions whether or not receiving an implant. At $1400 per graft I can see why he insists on doing them. Bottom line, I went with my gut feeling of seeing major red flags. I chose another oral surgeon, and you guessed it, had the extraction for $400 not needing bone grafts at all. I was also advised by the doctor that did my extraction that bone grafts only become necessary when adding implants at a later time. Your call, but I would turn and run before having this doctor work on me. read more

The staff at Dr. Ammar's office are dishonest. Do not go to this office unless you like spending a lot of money. His prices are more expensive than other periodontists. Do your research. We were promised a free consultation for our daughter and they backed out of their promise. Wait time to see the doctor was also long. They were not willing to rectify the issue based on trust. We only saw the doctor for a few minutes then we left. I don't trust anyone who goes back oh his promise. Very dissatisfied with the ethics of this office. Although my wife is a relative of his wife, I found that his business dealings are unethical. I am not squeamish when it comes to the dentist. I happen to love my regular dentist of 6 years and his staff. Well organized and friendly. I wish I could say the same about this place. While going through the process of having an implant put in, I have come to dread coming here. The staff seems very short, at times rude and not thorough when it comes to explaining the process. I came here because my tooth became infected, needed an extraction and then an implant. This all went down a month and a half before a big vacation my family was taking. I wanted the implant put in before the end of the year so that I could bill the insurance for the implant this year, then bill for the crown the following year. I called the office and explained the situation. They said it would be no problem to wait till I came back from this trip to do the procedure, understanding what I was trying to do. Well, part of this review is the fact that this did not happen, and me not being too happy about it. I was given a timeline, and when I went in for certain appointments thinking I was there to have X-rays, but then to find out it was something else entirely, then learning as time was growing short that they had no idea that I was trying to get it all done before the end of the year was disappointing. At one point, my regular dentist called them and explained the situation and they did move up an appointment to accommodate, only to have something else not planned correctly messing it all up. My second issue was the actual implant. I have had several root canals, crowns, infections, etc but nothing has ever hurt as much as this implant did. I was crying and in 10/10 pain within 15 minutes of leaving. My palette felt swollen and the pressure was immense. I called the office to tell them and they told me to take a Motrin. Yeah, this was beyond Motrin pain. I would have turned around and gone back but I had to pick my daughter up from school and I knew I had heavier pain killers at home I could take. As soon as I got home, I took them and the pain went down to a 6. Thankfully the pain killers I had helped tremendously. On my next follow up I mentioned the amount of pain to the doctor. He didn't have a whole lot to say, other than that it is strange. In the end, I have my implant, it looks and feels good, but to get to this point was a little more than rough. read more

Please don't come here, all he did was was look at my tooth and charged me $145. They have unfair costs here. They called me to confirm my appointment but never told me there was a consultation fee. I explained that I was in traffic and I arrived into the office 10 minutes late and was turned away because their time is "crucial". They do not care to lose business. After a referral from another Medicare dentist I went to Dr. Ammar in confidence for tooth implants. The previous dentist stated on the referral slip that I needed a SINUS LIFT and also sent Dr. Ammar's office my X-rays that they had taken. Dr Ammar's office proceeded to make an impression of my mouth for something called a Stent. Then I returned and they took an CT scan. In good faith, because I assumed they were going to use these items for my implants I paid $615 out of my own pocket. Then I was told afterward that Dr. Ammar could not do my implants BECAUSE I NEEDED A SINUS LIFT. And referred me to an Oral surgeon. This oral surgeon did not accept Medicare. So I needed to go to someone else. The new Periodontist does not need the STENT and CT scan was not readable. They redid the X-rays. When I asked for a refund for the unusable items from Dr. Ammar's office I was turned down. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. Unfair costs. They should have known from the referral and the X-rays BEFORE I incurred costs that they were not going to do my implants! THEY ARE THE SPECIALISTS! And I'm out $615 for something I can't use. read more

I only went once to this doctor because my dentist recommended me to go see him but my experience was the worst. They charged me $175 for the consultation. They gave me a second appointment but my wife had an emergency and I could not go. They charged me $200 for broken appointment. This is ridiculous. This is my first time having to pay for a broken appointment especially if it is the first time. I went there with all the proof that I was at the doctor's office because of an emergency for my wife and if they could wave the fee and they refused to do it. So I paid because I have a clean credit and did not want anything happen to it. This is a very greedy doctor and very expensive. Do your research before you go there. If you do go to this doctor make sure you check the paperwork that you signed because you don't know what they are going to charge you for. read more

Dr. Emad and his staff were professional and great. I had a gum graft on 1 tooth. My insurance picked up nearly the entire bill (PPO plan). I had a small co-pay. When I arrived for my 9 a.m. appointment the ladies at the front desk greeted me, had my paper work ready, called me a couple a days before to confirm my appointment. My insurance was already verified, so I had no hassle with paper work. Dr. Emad greeted me and I did not have to wait to have my procedure. It took approximately about 1 hour to complete. I had local anesthesia, I felt no pain at all during the procedure, he numbed my jaw completely in the location so that I would not be uncomfortable. Dr. Emad did inform me that after the numbing wears off some patients do feel pain, so he prescribed me a medicated rinse and motrin for pain. Dr. Emad and his assistant went over the procedure before and after. Asked if I had any questions or concerns. Overall I can say my experience was great. The facility is clean, the rooms and dental tools are clean. The location he is in is nice. The front desk staff as well as Dr. Emad and his assistant were professional and pleasant as well. I was recommended/referred to Dr. Emad by my personal dentist for the gum graft. I would recommend Dr. Emad to others. You must consider every individuals pain tolerance is different. Dr. Emad obtained his skill/profession through USC school of Dentistry. So his credentials were up to par for me which is another important aspect to me when choosing the right doctor's. read more

If I could give this doctor and his team a 10 rating I would. First of all, he is a kind hearted human being that cares about his patients. It comes thru in his gentleness and professionalism throughout whatever procedure you may have. I needed to have gum grafts done throughout my entire mouth due to some hard brushing that I did for many years. This has been a process of 2 years and not once did he cause me any pain. . . . he is so gentle that you don't feel anything! I remember at first, I was very nervous of the unknown and just didn't want to go thru so many procedures but at the end, Dr. Ammar explained every little detail until I was satisfied and I finally took the plunge. So glad our orthodontist office sent us to Dr Ammar for the dental surgery my son needed after getting braces removed. My 18 year-old son was impressed with Dr. Ammar's explaining the procedures he needed to have done, which is saying a lot because my son is not easily impressed with the medical world. The dr also gave us advice that truly could have added time that my son had to stay in braces if he had not guided us. The office staff here are fantastic, they went above and beyond helping us out with all the issues I had coordinating between our orthodontist and their office. I only saw Dr. Ammar a few times but during this time he made sure I felt comfortable with all the work he was going to perform. And a major plus, whenever he gave me a shot, it wouldn't hurt! This alone is enough for me to return. And as he was working on me, he would ask how I was doing or if I had any questions. Plus, all the gals in his office were just as friendly and patient as him. Dr. Ammar, his staff, and the office environment is great. I had an implant in 2009. I'm now on my 2nd implant with another doctor. So the only negative comment I have is that Dr. Ammar's costs are VERY HIGH. Yes, he's a Periodontist specialist. I get it. BUT these days, dentists are trained to do implants, and the technology advances so rapidly that a dentist can do implants extremely well. I'm on my 2nd implant now, from a DDS. And wow, wish I had found him the first time around. BTW - things that went wrong with my implant from Dr. Ammar - 1) screw had to be replaced, I had to go to a specialist to replace it .... another $500 out of pocket. 2) implant crown chipped. Although these points may not be Ammar's fault, well maybe the screw. Don't know. But Ammar drove up my costs unbelievably. Suppose that's why he's driving a Maserati. Think about it ... and don't be afraid to seek a new dentist with skills to perform implants. Had what I would call the worst procedure ever, crown lengthening, also know as cutting of the gum. It's been less than 24 hours after my procedure and I literally have no pain. Dr. Ammar is the best! I went to see him for a crown lengthening procedure in December. He knew I was scared of needles so he made sure to be as careful and painless with the anesthetic as possible (even though it would have saved him a lot of time and energy to use a larger needle and go quickly). He put on music, sang, and even told a few jokes to make me comfortable during the surgery, and he was willing to answer ANY questions or address concerns of mine post op. Dr. Ammar had to do gum surgery on me several years ago and he did an excellent job. I did not feel pain during the procedure because of his attention to detail and he made sure I was comfortable. He is a true professional and shows empathy for his patients. I always said I would come back if I ever had too. Well guess what, I am back and getting an implant. I had my tooth pulled out and he was very gentle when he gave me the shots. I did not feel any pain when he pulled my molar. Dr. Ammar has hands of gold when he works on you.
