I recently moved to the area and have been calling around trying to find a new dentist. Since this office had some of the best reviews nearby, I figured it would be a great place to start. Unfortunately, the phone call left me feeling pretty unwelcome. I explained that I was a new patient looking to make an appointment, and the first thing the front desk lady seemed concerned about was whether I had an HMO or PPO. It honestly felt like if I had said HMO, she would have just hung up on me. Once I told her I had a PPO, she started taking my information, but the whole interaction still felt like she was doing me a favor rather than welcoming a new patient. She explained that the Dr is only available at certain times and that I would need to work around that schedule, which I completely understand. The schedule itself wasn't the issue at all. It was more the tone of the conversation and the feeling that they didn't really want my business. I ended up calling Smile Studios instead and the experience was completely different. Been a long time patient of Barsoum since the 9th street location. Missed a few appts due to my wife's health and it took forever to get in for my cleaning . I was disappointed to see the gentleman at front desk who was a veteran gone along with the other gal who always knew my name . I was asked my last name and if I have an appointment? Seems customer service has definitely gone down not sure if management changed or what. As i get older I find that I like to feel welcome but this visit recently lacked smiles and just was not the same as my visit last year . My son is a patient along with his wife but they also felt the same at their visit not sure what's going on or if we will stay but miss the old quality of care. read more

I left my dental exam in a very different condition than I came in--now dealing with persistent tooth pain and uncertainty about next steps, including a possible root canal. What has been most frustrating is the difficulty getting timely follow-up care while actively in pain. I expected more support and urgency when a patient is experiencing ongoing symptoms. i came to this dental office because I had heard good things about them, but my experience was very disappointing in terms of communication and organization. I originally scheduled a cleaning (which i made pretty clear that's what my appointment was for) and also wanted my wisdom tooth checked since it was hurting. When I arrived, I was told they would not be doing a cleaning that day and that I would need a separate appointment so they only examined my wisdom tooth and recommended removal. After that, I was told to wait in the lobby so someone could explain the next steps for surgery. I waited around 40 minutes, and I was very patient and made it clear I was still waiting. Someone eventually came up, realized I had been waiting, and had another staff member speak with me. Even then, I waited another 10-15 minutes. When I was finally seen, the explanation was very quick (less than 5 minutes) and I did not receive any real information about how to prepare for surgery or what to expect. The staff member also seemed rushed and uninterested. On the day of surgery, I was told I had a copay of over $175 without being informed beforehand. I also explained the lack of communication from the previous visit, but it felt like that concern was ignored. I was not given any prior call or clear preparation instructions. Additionally, my medication was sent to a pharmacy I had already asked them not to use for the second time. The only positive part of my experience was the surgeon and surgical assistant, who were kind and professional during the procedure itself. I selected this practice based on its strong reputation and was satisfied with the dentist's clinical care. Unfortunately, the office failed to submit a required pre-authorization to my insurance and charged me out of pocket. After the error was identified and a refund was issued, I was dismissed as a patient. Being dismissed following an administrative mistake made by the office was disappointing and concerning. Patients should be aware and confirm that insurance pre-authorizations are properly handled in advance. I hope the practice reviews and improves its office management procedures. read more

I recently had to have an unexpected root canal. I went into the office in pain without an appointment, and the staff (Annett and Faith) were wonderful. They fit me in to see Dr. Wissa who took care of the pain immediately and as always checked on me that evening. On the second visit, I saw Endodontist Dr. Maash for the root canal who was great. I have now been to this dental location for a year now. The first experience was with a specialist, Dr. John, to address my gum issues. He was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. He was able to treat my gum issues as conservatively as possible and reassured me that everything was going to be OK. I decided to begin my dental care after the experience with him. The hygienist I see wear's a Green Bay Packer's cap and she is a gem. I now request to be on her schedule every time. My dentist is also great. She doesn't upsell me on anything and is very gentle. My experience today was AMAZING! I made a appt for a teeth cleaning and a assessment of a loose crown. The day before the appoint ment the Dr himself called me to ask if I was having any pain and to ask a few questions about my needs. The day of the appointment I was given a fulll set of X-rays, Dr. Barsoum was very kind and thoughtful in his approach. He clearly explained what my needs were based on his examination. It turned out I have 2 crowns that need replacement he showed me on the x-rays exactly what was going on and why the work really needed to be done and He recommended a partial deep cleaning as well . I was so impressed with his bedside manner and humble kind nature. He answered all my questions taking his time to ensure I understood everything. The Dr had time so he did a general cleaning of my teeth that day. The dental hygienist was absolutely fabulous and the front office staff was so patient and so kind. The billing manager took time to explain to me my estimate and the various costs involved. We also discussed different credit options that she knew about. I will be going back to this Dental Office to get my crowns taken care of as soon as I'm able to raise the funds, but the office is so clean, bright and tension free. The doorways are wide enough that it easily handled my electric wheelchair. I highly recommend this Office to anyone that is looking for a high-quality Dentist Office. If the office is open, I would expect calls to be answered in a timely manner rather than having to leave a message and wait for a callback. I had an appointment to which I showed up on time only to be told the dentist was not in. I took an entire day off work to be at this appointment. I was told they tried to call on the 16th - looked in my phone and no calls from their office on the 16th. I was upset and left. My wife then called to complain as i was pissed and I wasted a vacation day from work and they told her they called on the 17th.again I checked my phone and no calls from then on the 17th. Will never go to this dishonest dental practice again. If they are this dishonest about a phone call to which they could've said "yeah we fucked up" they try to make me look like the bad guy for having not heard their supposed message, then imagine the lies they will you what is going on in your mouth. This dentist is a complete waste of time. I showed up for my scheduled appointment only to be handed a paper saying I was only getting an exam and X-rays, and that I'd need to come back another day just for a basic cleaning. I was completely taken aback. No dentist I've ever been to splits up appointments like this -- it's ridiculous, inconvenient, and feels like a scam to get more visits out of you. To make it worse, the office manager is incredibly rude and condescending. The only reason I even gave this place a chance was because my husband highly recommended them. Ironically, this same office manager was able to sign off on his Invisalign exam in one visit, but somehow I couldn't even get a standard cleaning done at mine. Well, I've got great news for you: Your search is over! Dr. Andrew Lee is exactly who you're looking for. I went to Dr. Lee because my teeth started shifting. I know, crazy, right? Here's the story: Years ago, I had Invisalign treatment in another city. After finishing, I stopped wearing the aligners (big mistake!). As a result, my teeth moved, and I ended up with a small gap that trapped food when I ate. It got bad enough that I knew I had to do something about it. I started searching for an orthodontist and quickly realized that finding one who met my criteria wasn't easy. After visiting four different offices, I was relieved to find Dr. Lee. The main reason I chose him was that he didn't push for unnecessary full treatments like the others did (because I didn't need them). Now that my treatment is finished, I'm so glad I went with Dr. Lee. Not only did I save a ton of money, but I also found an orthodontist I can recommend to all my friends and family--and to you too! Dr. Lee is honest, highly skilled, and genuinely kind. His fees are reasonable, but what really made it affordable for me was that he only did what was necessary--not a penny more. just want to start by saying this is hands down the best dental office I've ever been to. From the very beginning, Dr. Karim called me personally before my appointment, which already made me feel at ease. When I came in, he was just as genuine in person and really took the time to go over my fears (I have a terrible gag reflex) and walked me through what to expect. After Patty helped me get through my X-rays (which she made SO much easier than I expected), Dr. Karim sat down with me and went over a full game plan for my treatment -- super helpful and made me feel in control of everything. Patty was a lifesaver with those X-rays, honestly the most understanding and patient assistant I've ever had. When it came time for my procedure, Dr. James Habashy, the oral surgeon, was amazing. He really listened to my concerns about my gag reflex and made sure I was as comfortable as possible the whole time. I also had a cleaning (can't remember my hygienist's name, but she was awesome too!) and she was super gentle and thorough. All in all, the staff here is beyond friendly, caring, and really go the extra mile to make sure you're comfortable. I've had some pretty bad dental experiences in the past, and this office completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. My family and I have been coming to Barsoum for over a decade. We loved Barsoum's care for his patients. I really loved that he called after every appointment! However, their practice has gone downhill. I had a cleaning in October, to which they said my teeth were "beautiful". I noticed some gum recession in January, so I made an appointment. Their gum specialist said I needed a gum graft surgery and that I had bone loss. I told him how scared I was, but he was adamant I had no choice. Two of my friends were told the SAME thing by this gum specialist, so I got a second opinion. The new dentist laughed when she heard I was told I needed surgery. She said my gums were far from needing surgery and even gave me treatment options if my tooth was ever sensitive. Why didn't Barsoum's specialist give me any alternatives? I also wish Barsoum's office would have said something about my gums in October. In 4 months, I went from having a beautiful mouth to needing surgery. Shouldn't they have noticed my gums before needing surgery? I'm sad to move on, but it seems they're referring to the gum specialist for the money instead of being for patients' wellbeing. read more

I used to go to this dentist for years and can speak highly of their cleanings and friendliness. However a couple of years ago I was told I needed gum graft surgery done on both sides of my mouth. I had no pain but they advised I should do this before it got worse so I agreed and went forward with completing one side first. This surgery and healing process literally traumatized me. The stitches in my mouth made it so I could not smile and hardly could eat for weeks until they could be taken out. Anyways, they wanted me to do the second side and after feeling depressed from not being able to smile for WEEKS I was like no way. I then met my boyfriend and his cousin was a dentist. I went to her for a second opinion and she had no idea why they were advising for such a thing. Now this was a couple of years ago and you're probably wondering why write this now? Well I've had two friends who have also been told they need this same procedure. One of them went to my new dentist for a second opinion and guess what? Not needed at all! This has lead me to write this because I really feel like they are pushing procedures to make money off of people who don't know any better. I would stay away. read more
