interior is a bit reworked from what I guess was a former tenant (maybe a steak house?) :D the sushi items ordered were about the same quality/price point as you would find in the south surrey/white rock area "suburb sushi" being on the corner of KG/152nd makes for a convenient meet spot after work ect read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch at MaguroGuy before a big meeting. I had their ginger beef lunch special. It was amazing. We were right in front of the kitchen, which looked clean and well maintained. My colleague ordered their teriyaki chicken lunch special and was also impressed. We usually order more than just the lunch specials but we we were late so we wanted something quick. Food arrived in less than 10 minutes to our surprise. The waitress didn't really check back with us to see if we needed anything else. I would have given 5 stars if the staff was a little more attentive. Will definitely go back to try other dishes here. read more

Good food but unfriendly service. I appreciate the clean atmosphere, fresh ingredients, but would also appreciate a warm customer experience. read more

Just had lunch here and have to say I was very impressed. We each had one of the lunch special (bento) boxes. They were excellent! Very fresh well made sushi, tempura with just the right amount of breading. Gomae salad was very tasty. A bit more expensive than some places but definitely very authentic and beautifully presented food. Service was very good (but then again we didn't ask for free food like the previous reviewer). Will definitely be back again to try the full menu. read more

Classy new Japanese Sushi House located at Rosemary Heights in South Surrey. Excellent menu items with special touches creation from Owner Chef. Dishes comes out very fresh, yummy and nicely presented. Service is prompt and customers are treated with care and attention. Had ordered special dishes like Smoke Salmon Carpaccio and Braised Korean Short Ribs highly recommended. Had tried other good Japanese sushi places and can easily rate this at the top in Vancouver. read more

Our favourite sushi place! Everything is always fresh and delicious. I always get the lobster maki and it is out of this world! The staff are very helpful and kind! We go at least 2-3 week and will only go there! The service is seriously awful! I don't think these people care about customer service. It's ridiculous! If they don't get it together, they will lose a lot of Business! read more

Came here with a girlfriend of mine on one of our sushi runs last year. I had avocado sushi and cucumber sushi, no mayo. The rolls were nice and tight and the prices were very affordable. Service was fast. read more

Most importantly, the quality of the food is extremely high. The first two times we visited, we ordered ahead and took the food home and were very happy with the food. Upon our third visit, we decided to dine at the restaurant and were outright amazed at the bizarre service. The wait staff are outfitted like kitchen staff, in white jackets and aprons. They rush around willy-nilly and it seems that only one of them is allowed to greet arriving customers. Reservations are not something they are able to handle - when you call ahead, they write your name on a slip of paper and tape it to the wall in reception...but don't assume that it means you have reserved a table. We booked ahead and still waited 20 minutes to be seated. Now, the strange juxtaposition between the service and the food. The presentation of the food belongs in a high-end, big city spot. The sashimi is delivered on a bed of crushed ice. The volcano roll arrived with a piece of some odd material on the plate that was aflame...it took both of us to blow it out, as not only was it distracting, it seemed a safety hazard. This high-end presentation is slapped down on the table by staff who are running to their next task. Summary: don't come here for a relaxing evening. Instead, get their great food in take-away form and enjoy it at home. :) read more

Shhhh! Don't tell people about this place! I'll never get a table. Doesn't look like much from outside, in a strip mall, next to Quiznos. But the food is outstanding, generous portions, creative rolls (as well as the basics), the menu is extensive, service quick...did I mention the food is fantastic?! And it's a great value...2 of us ate till we exploded for about $30 USD (you'd never find even crap sushi that cheap in the States). We usually go before the big dinner crowds and have a great experience. Went one Sunday evening a little later and the presentation was a little sloppier than we're use to...but the place was PACKED. It still tasted good. read more

Lack of pictures on the menu limits customers choices. Sushi is just ok. Bland, not impressive. Never once asked if we wanted something to drink. Refused to provide hot peppers. Said they needed them for other menu items and could not sell us them on the side. Bathroom is dirty. Atmosphere low budget. Overall nothing worth returning for. If you love sushi, you will be disappointed. Far better choices near by. read more

Wandered out this way for a friend, this cute little restaurant is tucked away in a small strip mall. Lots of parking and thanks to a reservation we were seated right away. We waited 10-15 minutes before tracking down a waiter to take our order, but the rolls were all soooo good! The gyoza were some of the best I have had. The presentation is all immaculate here. I was pleasantly surprised to see Ceviche on the menu, we had the scallop and it was so flavourful and fresh. The plating is really artful. If your out this way you will not be disappointed here! read more

My favorite sushi place in the Lower Mainland. Maguro guy has great tasting dishes at reasonable prices. We usually order a variety of a la carte items, and have never been disappointed. We've found the place is good for the whole family. The Udon soup is excellent, as are their house special roils. But our favorite is the salmon yuke. If you like salmon sashimi, you will love it. Even my wife who is not a fan of sashimi loves the salmon yuke. read more

I had been looking for a good sushi place in south surrey and I think this is it. We had the Double Tuna roll ( has a lot of Tuna, spicy tuna, avocado) the thing I love is how that the spicy tuna is prepared. The spicy sauce is mashed into the tuna! That's how it must be done I will be coming back for that again. We had oyster motoyaki (they do it differently with the Japanesemayo and peanut butter) it was not bad. The miso ramen was loaded with veggies and I was pleasantly surprised that they put in shiitake in there but it was great! If the ramen noodles were cooked less and more al dente then I would have enjoyed it more. We also had yakitori, negitoro roll and a crispy salmon roll. All were good picks. We got there at 5pm on Saturday and the service was great but I could see that there was a lineup of patrons waiting to be seated when we left. Will definitely be back! read more

Service was horrible, lacks proffessionalism, my mother and I went on a Saturday afternoon, besides another couple, we were the only customers. Food and portion was acceptable as it should be. But the oba-san serving us was very rude, she ticked her tongue around 5 times since our visit, once when my mother politely inquired about the kami rolls and few other times when I asked during ordering if I could have a smaller rice portion since I was not a big eater and didn't wish to waste food, the last three was simply as she served our food and walked away. Good/acceptable food, bad service on the part of this particular mid 50's to early 60's waitress. read more

I was nearby and required some cheap and fast eats. Bingo! This is your place. I was seated asap even though it was a busy weekday around 1pm. Great lively restaurant. We liked their interior. Reasonable price. We ordered a bento combo - a great value! -and some nigiri. The nigiri was large and nicely presented. The fish was fresh, but the rice didn't have any sushi flavor, which was very disappointing. May not satisfy someone who has had the real thing, but perhaps good enough for someone trying sushi for the first time. read more

Simply the best restaurant in the area. Sometimes there is a wait at the door, but the food is always worth it. The decor is so-so, but the service and the dishes are exceptional. I recommend the Double Salmon Roll--it's the best I've ever tasted. Also, try the Tuna Tataki Bowl from the appetizer menu. Other than that, follow your own tastes. The menu is extensive. read more

The positive is that the food is delicious. I would go back because of the quality. The con is that the service was horrible. We never saw our waitress after we ordered and had to flag 3 different people to get anything at our table. The waiters were on the rude unfriendly side but eventually got around to things. The deep fried ice cream was horrible. The ice cream itself was the size of a golf ball but the batter was twice that size and undercooked while the regular ice cream was cheaper and 3 times the size. If you want tasty sushi (excluding the dessert) come here but be prepared for terrible service. read more

A disappointing experience overall. They seemed understaffed at 1:30pm when i came in for lunch. Took about 8-10 minutes for anyone to come to my table after we were sat. I was with a small child so i wanted to order pretty quick. The tea they brought me was lukewarm and they brought a giant ice water for the youngster. Food was mediocre. Had the tuna tataki (pieces cut way to thick), chicken katsu don (the sauce on it was subpar), tempura (decent) and gyoza (gyoza was, once again, only lukewarm). Barely came by the table and i had to wait another 10 minutes to get my bill. Unacceptable service. read more

I have always had a good experience at this restaurant except today was very different. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, yet it took so long for someone to seat us. Service was poor and slow. Never came to ask how the food was or to refill our teas. *PLEASE READ THIS* make sure you remember what price it says on the menu for what you are ordering. When we received the bill, the price for all of your items was HIGHER than what it originally said on the menu. Extremely disappointed in this visit. Will definitely be double checking pricing when I return read more

Great place for quality sushi in south surrey! They have a lot of specialty rolls that are worth trying. The Haru Maki roll with rice paper, tuna, salmon, chopscallop, avocado, and cucumber is very unique. I like that this roll has all my favorite ingredients! The Dragon roll and allen roll are very good too. I would highly suggest sashimi lovers to try the sushi & sashimi combo for two. It comes in a big boat! And who doesn't love boats full of goodies! One thing though, we have never liked their cocktails, for some reason they always tasted like tylenol for kids.. read more

3rd visit. 1rst for lunch. Waited long time after seated. Very serious server, creepy vibe :-/ Spicy sauce used on many items is bland plain mayo mix. Ps dont taste flaming area on Volcano Roll... straight fuel. Easy for couple pieces of roll to touch...yuk. Tuna cone had so much wasabi inside made it BURN going down... Gomae sauce very vinegary. Ebi Sonomano shrimp has taste of bleach. Hmmm maybe different chefs a dinner? Wont be back for lunch... may try 1 more time for dinner to be fair, or maybe not. read more

The number one issue, which really is not important in this day an age of the world having got smaller but, you should know about...it is not run by Japanese...it may be a Japanese labelled Restaurant...but nobody there is Japanese. Some of the food authenticity being Japanese is in doubt It is pricey. But it is worth every penny you spend on the food. Service is excellent...The parking lot is jammed with rich folks driving Ferrari, Porsche and the like.... Food is great...but it is more Chinese in Flavor than Japanese. Every item in the menu is cooked to perfection and I have been there with my lover of the opposite sex several times.....before I decided to give them a Five Star Rating. Would I recommend this place for anyone to wet their appetite in....Absolutely read more

Pros: - Good quality sushi - Very creative and delicious fusion rolls (Bacon Age roll is to die for!) Very disappointed with this place. They arbitrarily close up early and their telephone doesn't work. I won't return. Ever!

This resturant used to be our favourite since 3 years ago. But we were repeatedly (about 4 visits) disappointed over last half year, and we decided to NEVER GO BACK again. We were ignored by staff, had to wave many times for service, and the food quality lowered by miles, sashimi was not fresh (taste and smell weird). Portion of the food had reduced. We got no apology when we mentioned the food was not fresh. I truly don't understand how this resturant changed from our No.1 to Never go again. I highly not recommend it, unless you believe that it's your very lucky day today. read more
