Unfortunately, i was not able to experience the knock on the small door to get my coffee. They also have tables and chairs inside. Prior to our trip, Gelateria Perche No was lightling up the internet. Located on a small side street is the cool gelato spot. The alley out front is stuffed with travelers walking around and enjoying a cool scoop. I looked over the possible selections and yes, chose the stracciatella. A full size scoop of creamy delight with shaved chocolate chunks inside. I did have to laugh as several people ordered scoops, then tried to get a photo of it. Due to the heat the scoops were melting rapidly and the gelato was leaking all over their arm or clothes. I heard that's the "proper" way to store gelato as it remains fresher, though the jury is still out for me on that one. Anyway, I got the smallest cup size where I was able to choose two flavors - so I went with the cream and the chestnut. The gelato was really good - creamy with great flavor. The cherry was just okay but I really enjoyed the black sesame. Hubby had pistachio and a strawberry cheesecake, and I liked the pistachio. There aren't many flavors to choose from, which is one of the signs of a good gelato place. While the gelato itself was good, the flavors didn't really appeal to me so I kind of just settled on those two. So if you want to try the flor di latte, seems you need to go way earlier than I did.
