Best Burger I've had in ages! Great little cafe in Old Nice with fantastic food at reasonable prices. My wife and I split this HUGE burger, which was actually chopped steak. We normally order our burgers well done but had this one Medium Well and it was to die for, dripping with cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. My wife got a nice sized side salad for $3 Euros. Great atmosphere and excellent service. You will be happy you visited!

3.5 stars rounded up…read more Quality/Quantity - This came up on my Google feed with so many good reviews and it was very near our hotel. Got here early, and got a seat with no reservations. It got busy quickly with a waiting list. Prefix dinners - I got the famous chicken and my wife got the fish. It came with a generous appetizer, see pictures. My wife also got the chocolate mousse dessert. Overall the food was okay. My wife's entree was probably the better of the two. Ambiance - Small local restaurant. Tables squeezed next to each other with very little space in between. One unisex restroom. I did not use it, as our hotel was very close. I washed my hands at the hotel before coming here. Service - Okay, not good or bad. Price - 56 Euros, $65 US; expensive for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

Our first meal during this trip and it did not disappoint!! Ordered their famous chicken and…read moreescargot and both were phenomenal. The chicken was so tender and just a burst of flavor in every bite. You can really differentiate the French cooking technique in this dish. The escargot was simple and delicious. Love that they didn't put too much butter and you can really taste the natural flavor of snails. Service was quick and the owner was very personable. Love that this little bistro is located off the beaten path from Old Town. Highly recommend this place if you visit Nice!! This is definitely one of the best French restaurants I've had. Simple yet delish!!

The alleyway restaurant had a nice breeze. I'm doing it. I had the vegetarian Poké bowl and it was delicious. I was skeptical because a Poké bowl seems a little basic, but it was extraordinary my companion had a steak and fries, and it was also reported as delicious. Even though we're only here for a few days, I think we will come back for lunch or dinner again because it was so satisfying

We ordered a double round of snails, plus shrimp crudo, steak tartare, and octopus to share. Everything was fresh, light, and had unique flavor combos. I also got an espresso martini for my fix, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. It wasn't great and came with a straw (lol)?!? Now, here's where it got wild. The staff, 4 of them, were literally screaming and fighting with each other in the middle of service with hands raised, ready to throw down. I've never seen anything like it in a restaurant, and it turned what could have been a nice meal into something that felt trashy. Our grumpy waiter was one of the people involved, which just made it worse. Food-wise, this place is a 5. But with the staff's behavior, I'm being generous giving it a 3. Honestly, I wouldn't go back because of that.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
