This place is always a good place to just browse and look through all of the things. If you are energy sensitive you can really feel a calm state of mind here. The staff has always been very very polite and their items there are just plain badass. Nothing plain about it! If you find yourself in the area you should pop in and check it out. read more

Was visiting the Houston area for business and pleasure. I was looking for a few herbs and came across this store. After reading the reviews, I phoned the store to check if they had what I needed in-stock, which they did. I arrived at the store. Friendly greeting, staff was helpful, and pretty easy to navigate around. The herbs are self-serve, but that was okay too. Fast and easy check out, with a great greeting of the owner and his large fury four legged, rug like dogs. You"ll never know they were there. Next time I'm in the Houston, I'll be sure to patronize them again. read more

If there are two words to describe this west Houston den of magical supplies, books, and curios that is on the brink of becoming this city's landmark (in my opinion), those two words would be enduring and instructive. I've seen occult shops come, and I've seen them go. But Magical Cauldron has been around since I picked up my first magical book back in the mid-eighties (oy vey, that's a long time ago). What makes this specialty shop so unique and so lasting is that you have folks who do more than just stock and run the registers. You have proprietors that know their topic and practice the craft that they speak of. You need a book on Welsh Witchcraft or Hermetic alchemy, then you'll have no problem finding a variation of them on their shelves. You need magical oil or one custom made for you... ask and you'll receive what you need. Maybe you require advice on a ritual, a ceremony, or the right ingredients for a charm bag, they'll help you put them together. It's by having an informed and helpful staff on the premises and the right supplies available that I believe is what makes this place so lasting. I'm not too fond of their website, but don't let that detract you from visiting their Montrose area shop. Parking is not optimum, but it's a fairly sound neighborhood - park around the corner, visit the shop, and grab a bite at Niko Niko's. It's worth the visit, and I promise you, you'll come back again just to explore their inventory of hard-to-fnd books. read more

The only reason I'm not giving 5stars is due to one thing; I went in to find something to help a friend who is worried they may have been cursed, and reading the reviews I thought maybe I could get some information to be able to help them. Not knowing much about these things I went to ask the man for help.. though instead I guess they thought I was some dumb teenager. We're all adults, and my friend is older than I am.. I was told "teenage wannabe witches don't have the power to curse someone" and that it's all in my "friends head"... I understand curses are something rarely done, due to multiple reasons, but it's something I thought they'd understand my reasoning and give me in site.. not brush it off as if I'm a rebellious child or something.. read more

Yes, after visiting many other magick shops, this one has it! Has it all. So completely helpful, stocked with anything you could ever need for your magickal lifestyle. The doggies are cute and friendly too! read more

This shop is fun and magickal. Like popping in here after a quick bite at Niko Niko's. Always find an interesting book or 3. The custom blended oils are quite lovely as well. One star knocked off because the store could use a major dusting... read more

I come regularly to see Matt, the man who makes candles! It's like therapy, I love it!

Not at all what I was hoping for. Staff were baseline polite, but not welcoming or interested in talking to you. Almost everything I looked at was over priced. The herbs looked questionable as far as how old they were, and the selection was nothing special- same stuff you see everywhere. It was very dusty... Meh. I didn't find a reason for me to return or support this shop. read more

I enjoyed my experience here I loved the huge book selection. They were very helpful when I wanted to exchange a book for a different one.

Great place for crystals. The moment I walked in I was embraced by the energy from several gigantic crystals, especially the clear quartz and Amethyst ... Geez, because of all the reviews I didn't bother associating with the staff.... But the selection of breath taking CRYSTALS...was euphoric. One Crystal attracted me... I bought it...I bought the sage to cleanse it.... And off I was .... Worth the drive for Crystal. Price range $25-$1000 (and up). Magnificent pieces available. Ahhhhhh sweet peace, union and comfort !! read more

Awesome store and staff. I felt a sense of calm and welcomed openness shortly after going into store. When asking for assistance on my purchases, the staff were quite knowledgeable and a few other good-hearted shoppers were also available to assist or give their thoughts on what I came in to purchase and a few extras. Really enjoyed the visit, look forward to a return visit and purchase. #Namaste #Blessings read more

Love this place. Everything from oils to fresh bulk herbs and a great book collection to boot!

Smaller shop but great selection of incense, tarot cards, candles, and other supplies. The selection of crystals is not my favorite, so I purchase mine else where. The staff does not follow you around or awkwardly watch you as you shop which is appreciated, but they are easily available to you if you have any questions and are also very very informative. I always receive great service and shop at ease without pressure or feeling rushed. I really appreciate that about this place! Picked up the OSHO zen tarot yesterday and i am very satisfied with the product and the information/recommendation the staff gave me. read more

We like going to this place. There are a lot of cool and creative things here. The only unnerving thing was that they didn't appreciate our $150 in purchases enough to let us use their restroom. read more

They don't offer the check in discount anymore and are extremely impolite lately when you ask for something.

I have been wanting to come here for a few months and finally had the time! I needs to get some goods for my new place. I love the setup of this shop. Located off Montrose Blvd, this shop has some interesting finds. I needed some sage to cleanse my new apartment. The team here today were very helpful. They answered all my questions and also gave me some helpful suggestions. I really like their selection of candles, incenses and jewelry. I would recommend this place to anyone looking something other than mainstream goods. read more

I liked this shop. The place is full of nice things including crystals, tarot card sets, ouija boards, metaphysical books, incense and more! I came for the crystals but I was pleasantly surprised to see they had essential oils. They have a large variety of great oils. read more

Honestly their books are VERY over priced you can most definitely find the same exact books on Amazon for more than half the price. It feels almost as if they don't truly care about the Path or the questions you have but the money they're going to make. Overall the store feels Unauthentic and very greedy don't recommend at all unless you want to spend an absurd amount of money on common items then that's all on you. read more

Someone else wrote a review about their experience with racial bias at this store a few days ago and that is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I see that the owner attempted to invalidate the customer's experience with the typical "we serve everyone regardless of race....." bs that people of color hear everyday. And, of course, implied that they were lying. I actually wrote a review on google a few months ago and forgot to add it here (and really only came to see if they had it removed). Anyway, here was my original review 3 months ago: *sigh* The vibe I'm getting... I would suggested melanated people NOT spend their money there: I went in with my son and no one ever spoke or said hello. There was a man and woman behind the counter both speaking with another (white) patron; they just looked when I walked in. As I looked at the oils, the shopper left, and the guy mumbled something my direction. They have 2 HUGE dogs in there. I have no problem with dogs but they suddenly started barking LOUDLY and running across the store to the back I guess. My 2 year was crying scared and it would seem that someone would apologize or give an explanation. Nothing. Either way, won't be back. read more

I absolutely adore every experience I have with Anna, especially through this time the world is enduring through this pandemic, Anna has continued to give of her time and great energy through video call to help a sister like me navigate though. I am truly grateful for the experience. read more

Don't waste your time here. The staff is rude and condescending. I was misled about something and the staff member pointed it out to me. Instead of trying to help me and build a loyal customer, she used it as an opportunity to belittle me. Way to lose a potential customer. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I came in to this place looking for incense and oils and as soon as I checked in via Yelp I received a 20% coupon. It was a wonderful surprise! The two people working there were very helpful and attentive. The oils were a bit pricey and I did not purchase any but they had a big selection of incense. I will definitely be back! read more

I used to love coming into this shop, but my experience was such a bummer today. The woman at the counter was very impatient and rude. Ironically I was collecting some items that I hoped would attract positive energy. :/ Just bad vibes... I won't be returning any time soon. read more

*slaps forehead* Doh! Can't believe I didn't think to review Magick Cauldron until now! I've been coming here since they were in a little house over on Richmond.....then on Westheimer close to Katz's.......now in what used to be a comic book store, I believe? They've been in this location for some time now, and while I enjoy the extra room it gives inside, the parking kind of sucks, especially if you're in a truck. I've driven over on my lunch hour to pick up incense and whatnot only to find there is no place to park. But beyond that, I love coming here (they do have a website too). Just walking through the front door shifts my energy to a much calmer, happier place. Besides the best incense known to humanity, they also carry books of the metaphysical variety, bells, athames, clothing, candles, cups, Tarot cards, crystals, jewelry, and cauldrons (whether or not you make it magickal is up to you!). There is a great selection of swords and knives for the Renfaire/SCA crowd also. I'll be honest, some of the stuff is pricey, and can be found for much less at online metaphysical proprietors. But you can't beat the customer service here. Staff are knowledgeable and ALWAYS helpful and warm. Plus Paul keeps his dogs here, so if you're an animal person like me and don't mind them soliciting your attention, you'll like it here. My last visit to Magick Cauldron, I was accosted by Loki himself in the guise of an older man who thought it funny to use an airhorn to blow my hair all over the place (was he flirting? Maybe, I was pregnant, some people take that as a sign that you're easy-KIDDING!). Always amused by a trickster, I thought it funny too. I can't guarantee you'll always run into such fun characters when you go, but I do guarantee you'll appreciate their customer service and good energy. Magick Cauldron is a great escape from the mundane, whether you're pagan or just into aromatherapy and candles. read more

This was my first time in the store and was so excited in taking the first step in learning about crystals and oils. They had great things to choose from. The only thing I was disappointed about was the staff wasn't very friendly or wanted to really answer questions. It kind of deterred me as a new customer. I'll come visit again but I just hope the experience will be better. read more

Let me say up front, I'm not a Wiccan, etc, but this is one of my favorite stores!! They have the absolute coolest bric-a-brac you'll find anywhere. The ladies who run it are so pleasant and chit-chatty. Not the sort of store that carries "needs", but they've got loads of "wants." I just love this place! read more

I've been to the Magick Cauldron a couple of times, and have usually left feeling energized and excited to use my purchases. The staff had always been helpful and more than willing to hold conversations about any item in the store. The ridiculously high prices were even worth it to talk to a nice, informative person. Today, however, immediately when I walked in, I felt a desire to walk right back out. I was confused so I continued to shop. Soon it became apparent that the staff didn't seem to want me, or any of the other patrons to be there. Any question or item a customer brought to the counter was met with a cloaked cockiness and laughed-off rudeness. It was hard to watch. Later, I talked to a friend and she said that her experiences have always been similar. Idk who/what changed, but to anyone looking for decently priced magick and magick accessories and doesn't want to feel looked down on for being on the other side of a counter, visit Mind, Body and Soul off of Wirt and I-10. I guess my complaint was invalid, considering that I got no response, but I will provide you with the specifics that you asked from other people. The woman who was so condescending to the customers during my visit was a shortish woman, long brown or maybe red hair, plain features, maybe glasses. Her counterpart (who has been kind to me on previous occasions, but was rude to people on this visit) was a taller Hispanic looking man who was speaking a lot about RPGs. If you need me to call the store so that you know that I'm not just a troll, let me know. read more

Love this place. Got great advice on on how to get rid of my outdoor bug problems. The incense is working it's magic.

Went here today to get white sage. The guy at the register was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely visit again.

I pass by this place all the time, but today I actually went in to check it out. Such an awesome shop! You can just feel some sort of energy just walking in. There is everything you need from loose herbs, chakra stones, books, candles, jewelry. I purchased some sage in order to cleanse my house. I saw so many other things I wanted so will certainly be returning very soon. The man who helped me out was extremely friendly and helpful...he took his time and explained how to use the sage as well as answered all my million questions. Prices seemed reasonable. Totally recommend. Yay for Magic! read more

I always drive by the Magick Cauldron wanting to go in but never had the nerve. Today I went in and it was a blast. I got a bunch of stones and some incense and wandered around the store for awhile just poring over all the cool stuff. read more

I think most of the reviews have covered what they sell. Quartz, personal spellbooks, other reading material about religion, weapons, stones, candles, incense, jewelry, robes, mythological figurines, all kinds of things. Upon walking in there's a very calming sensation about the place. To your left there are usually a few really gorgeous pieces of jewelry somewhere around the $800 range. That smokey quartz necklace in particular always catches my eye. They have more subtle and less expensive jewelry to the right middle area behind glass. Usually someone will ask to assist you before you ask them. Last time I purchased a ring there, the trays weren't labeled too well by size. Naturally, the few pieces I really wanted were too small so I settled on a plain, but still appealing oval shaped moonstone ring. To the far left you'll find the books, herbs and other trinkets. To the far right are clothes, candles and incense. The robes and spellbooks are kind of pricey and I'm sure the weapons (located behind the registers) are as well. Staff is knowledgeable and they hold classes so many times a week. The information's in the store. They're pretty friendly, talk to them. Oh, and you'll usually find a couple of dogs lying around or maybe playing ball with one of the staff. They're friendly, too. Mostly, this is just a great place to look around. Lots of neat things, some of which are definitely affordable if you just have to have something. I think they close at 7 during the week. They also have a website where you can purchase some of the things I mentioned up top, but you're missing out on experiencing it first hand. read more

I have been buying from the Magick cauldron for over 10 years. Since moving to FL, I mainly use their website. Both the store and website are and always have been great. I have been to a lot of metaphysical shops, and this is by far the BEST. They have high qulaity items in stock and the staff is very helpful in finding what you need and making suggestions. You will not find better anywhere! read more

So I just moved to Houston about a month ago, and I've been looking around for a cool metaphysical store to stock up on some new crystals. I walked In not greeted or anything and no one asked to help, which was really no big deal. So I'm looking around the store, find what I was looking for all while noticing how rude the staff was to the guests. So I finish what I'm doing and go up to check out and both of the staff members who I assume were supposed to be working the cash register were both reading a book and talking about it really loudly at the register. And I, believing that it's rude to interrupt others whilst in the middle of a conversation, stood there for about five minutes, in front of them, until the nice lady behind the jewelry counter noticed me and asked me if I was ready. I said yes and the man at the register finally turned around and looked at me and asked me if I was ready, I said yes again and he said "well you have a voice you know, maybe you should use it" !!!! The whole time he was talking to me was so condescending & rude! It astonishes me that they seemed bothered because they had to do their job! It just ruined the rest of my day. I will not be returning. Sad because I found some crystals I fell in love with. Terrible customer service. read more

Best magick shop in Houston!! Great selection of tarot cards and crystals. Also they have tons of great pendants. I think I have got at least 3 or more of them. Book selection is also very good. I like reading very much and have many books at home. When I found this store I was very happy. I can spend there hours, because there is a big variety if books. The publications are the newest. The prices are not low so sometimes I can not buy a book because it is too expensive for me. If you like reading, you will not waste your time there.
