Usually I dont write bad reviews like this but the guy with the long hair and a bit overweight WAS ABSOLUTELY RUDE! Straight up RUDE. Point blank period. I was asking him a question, LIKE A REAL SALESMAN you're supposed to kindly help the customers, yes YOURE SUPPOSED TO HELP. But a nice gentleman that didn't even work there kindly guided me and helped me out with picking out a pendelum. This was my 1st time coming to the store due to looking for singing bowls. This would be my 1st experience with singing bowls and in a store like this. I went around and looked at the various items with my 2 children and I wasn't greeted upon entering but that was OK, maybe they were busy? As I was walking around the store, my children noticed a Buddhist statue with money and I gave them $2 to make a wish and place the at the Buddhist statue.... When I collected my crystals I went to the front and ask where I should put them because I wasn't done looking around. The 2 employees gave each other a side glance which almost was like, "Oh", she's actually going to pay for them. It wasn't that I wasn't going to pay for them.... I didn't know where to place them. If they would have told me to grab a tray upon entering this all would have been avoided. But then again, this could just be me and no side glances were given. Because the nice young lady did help me with various singing bowls and she showed me how to hold them. She played a few of them for me and explained the purpose. She was very very helpful. I will be returning... without my kids in order to get the full experience the store has to offer. I gave them a 4/5 only because no one attempted to help me upon entering, but they redeemed themselves nicely. read more

I've driven past this place plenty of times and always joked about going in, but I saw an ad in the Houston Press and was like let's do it! I was so glad I actually went in. If anyone has read my previous reviews, I love super nerdy stuff. And in my opinion, it's just cool stuff, not nerdy stuff. There were just so many interesting items in the shop. I've tried Magick Cauldron a few times, because they are so close to where I live. I won't be back. Here's my experience: the first time I went in, there were two large dogs wandering around the place--that's fine. What isn't fine is urine on the floor--it clearly wasn't fresh, either. The whole place smells bad (stale), is dusty and needs a good cleaning. On top of that, the employees were loudly talking about guns (pro-gun). Whatever your politics and beliefs, you be you--but know your audience. Most people coming into a metaphysical store are going to be turned off by that. I know I was. The second time I went in another employee was sitting on the floor blocking the way to the book section. I literally had to step over her to get by. She didn't say sorry or move. She just didn't care. The third and final time I went in, I overheard a conversation with an employee and customer. The customer bought a poisonous herb and the employee encouraged to make a tea out of the herb and drink it! After the customer left, the girl on the floor (I had to step over) said, "If they die, we could get sued!" Do you see a pattern? Don't go here--don't give them your money! As I decided to leave, another employee behind the counter was vaping. Super classy. Parking is impossible, as well. One final note, for my spiritual friends. I've been to this shop twice now and all I have to say is overpriced, mislabeled crystals, and all in all bad vibes.

I went in and asked the gentleman if he can show me where the sage is, he showed me but then i noticed they also had Palo Santo and i was curious to know what the difference was. When I asked him (the big boy) if he can explain to me what the difference was he literally looked up, exhaled and rolled his eyes, didn't even try to play it off and proceeded to tell me. I listened and I didn't give him an attitude but definitely caught the vibe. I was the only one in the store so I don't understand how one can be so damn unkind to people they don't know. So basically I went in there and got my herbs and oils that I needed I never would complain about this shop I only been in there 2 times but this time was different, As I walked in there was a strong energy to this shop it was nasty people there are rude you could just tell. I wish I would have read the reviews first then maybe I would've at least expected a RACIST experience lol. I went with my fiancé to check out there selection, as we were browsing we felt a more than necessary amount of attention from a heavy set guy with dark hair, I'm not sure if he was the manager or not but he definitely raised his voice to say "THIEVES" while casually pretending to work as we were checking out. Went there a few weeks ago. Strange how they had staff watching us. I guess black people are not their usual clientele. When I asked for help finding a product, I didn't get a warn response, had to search until I figured it out myself. Strange, since they watched and followed us, asking if we need help several times when it got awkward. Then, when we were checking out, they initially overcharged $50+, the total was $40 and they charged $92. If I hadn't questioned the amount, like a haggler Lol, I would've been charged an extra $50+. Absolutely garbage. The employees are disgusting and rude. I walked up to one larger set white looking dude who had a beard who was standing behind a counter and asked him if this is where we paid. He said basically mocked me, called me stupid and made a comment mentioning that I either pay of I wanted to or could walk out the store , almost as if insenuiating i had no intentions of purchasing it anyways and wanted to steal or something. He was incredibly disrespectful. He didn't answer my question either or show me where the cash register was, which is all I needed to know. I've been to The Magick Cauldron twice now, based off a friend's recommendation. Both times I've visited I've experienced condescending and point-blank rudeness from staff. The first experience was with the big guy who is always just behind the register. I've spent the entire visit of 10 minutes listening to the guy passively bicker with another customer because the customer called him "sir". With along like - "if you don't stop calling me sir, I'm taking you out" - "would you rather me call you ma'am" - "would you rather me call you pip-squeak" and so on. The energy was negative, so I left without making a purchase. I took another shot and visited again yesterday, December 21, close to 5 pm. The same register attendant was present, plus a female staff member. So, I took any questions I had to her to avoid the male's bad energy. But, she was not in the mood to be helpful. I asked a question "where would I find a book on healing crystals" - "right when you walk in" or "could you tell me how much these are?" - "off the dollar incense stand..." as though I asked a stupid question cause there is a sign but I had to check - there was no indication. Again, I heard her giving the same type of responses to other costumers - "would you know what would be helpful for body pain - "anything the doctor subscribes" or "do you know the different meanings between the blue and purple stone" - "one is blue and the other is purple". It's a shame the staff are not more attentive to the customer experience and would be more willing to share their knowledge on the products being sold. read more

The first time I visited was months ago. My partner was looking at some backflow incense holders and asked about the pattern of the flow for one specific model. An older woman behind the counter rudely responded "if you're not going to buy don't worry about it". We left. About a week ago we decided to try again thinking that maybe she had a bad day that visit. The same woman kept staring at me, watching me as I browsed the sage. I caught an eye roll and decided to leave again. Don't shop here! Extremely rude customer service. If you're looking for sage or crystals go to Body Mind & Soul. They're friendly over there and willing to explain what everything is for, prices are better as well. What an awful place, do not go !!! I went there looking for black onyx and a red candle. When I walk in there is a guy and a older woman behind the counter, neither looked at me when I came in. I get to the counter with my items, was totally ignored by both people behind the counter, the dude with the Harry Potter Tattoo and fake magic ink, just looks at me like I'm not even there, the woman does not even lift her head up, for about 3 minutes. finally she simply says the cost of the candle and do I have cash, I say I have two rocks, Harry Potter dude burst into laughter, dude they're polished rocks, not onyx. He is laughing so hard at me it was uncomfortable. What an awful experience, brought my stuff back, will never set foot into this place again. MC used to be my favorite place to go to. I visited this past saturday as it's been over a decade since I've been there and I was so excited to see how their shop was doing. The doorman and cashier with the black hair and bangs very nice. It's the older white haired female employee that was checking out customers was by far the RUDEST employee that I've ever dealt with there. I asked her a simple question regarding a bracelet and she acted as if I was causing her a huge problem and just rolled her eyes and gave me a one word answer. I've been doing my work for years and I still love to learn about new things. SHE acted like I didn't have any idea of what I was doing and made snarky comments about my items i was purchasing. i will say that I do have anxiety and I was hoping for a better experience and it would of been fine too if this cashier had given better customer support/had not been disrespectful, and had minded her own business about customers items unless they had a question. Not only did she walk around loudly sighing, but was mumbling disrespectful words about some of the customers who i personally saw them doing nothing wrong but she had accused them of something they had nothing to do with. This group she was talking about were POC. I am a poc also. I've been comng to this store since I was a young man. I always felt that the brusque way the employees and owner treated people here was just something that you had to put up with, but this last trip has really tipped the scales for me. I don't intend on ever coming back. Don't bother with personality commenting, I don't want to talk to you, but consider this: notice the pattern in the comments about condescension and rudeness? Obviously these issues have never been dealt with. Never mind that everything in the store is twice a much as it should be. Nevermind that while the oils you sell may have been passable in the occult community of the ealy 90's, the cheap synthetic stuff that you guys sell that all smells the same is outdated and unacceptable in an era when i can get better quality oils for magick at HEB, your bad attiudes and energy need to be replaced by people who are passionate and kind. Went here for the first time today. What he says he has, he has it. He was very helpful with my wife. He new exactly what she was talking about, and exactly how to help her. And he had everything she was looking for. She was looking for spiritual healing, but he has a lot of really cool stuff, from books, to crystals, to Greek gods. I visited on 10/24/18 in search of some crystals and was really disappointed. The store itself is a good size and everything is well organized. I could've done without the fine layer of dust on everything though. The staff doesn't greet you when you walk in. To me this is a plus, because I don't like feeling pressured when shopping, but I know some people don't appreciate this. The bigger crystals are nicely displayed but the smaller ones are so sad! There's something off-putting about seeing them all crammed into a dirty display case, but at least they were clearly labeled, so there's that. I did find some cool books, but didn't buy them because I couldn't bring myself to bring that negative aura and sadness home. TLDR; Dusty and underwhelming read more

I am sure glad my sister invited me on this trip to adventure around Central Houston--we ended up finding this cool place. I've never been in a place that sells Wicca items or off-the-wall things that have a natural feel to it. They do sell gemstones for quite a ridiculous amount of money--I do believe since they don't have an idea on how much the stone is really worth; they will price it depending on how beautiful it may look. For instance, the amethyst were dark deep purple, but it shouldn't have been $24 for it. They aren't even selling them at much on Ebay or the rock shop I usually go to. If its authentic amethyst then it should be priced correctly. They had this section just for polished stones, however these stones were tiny. $3/each for these tiny stones. I'm guessing used for their healing powers--not sure, but for me I usually get a higher spirit from stones in their rough (natural) state than when they are polished just because polishing anything alters their original and innate matter. Though, that wasn't the only thing priced high it was a lot of things. The books were pretty cool to look through--they had a lot of holistic remedy books, metaphysical properties of gemstones, near-death-after life books. Pretty interesting books. They had jewelry made out of stones, but not a lot like I expected. Most were priced super expensive. They were just like jewelry with polished stones--how rubies look at the jewelry store. I saw incenses that smelled pretty good, but incenses usually smell horrible when you light them up in your house. Go figure. Although, this store was pretty interesting to check out. I probably wouldn't just pop up in here any other given time. I do suggest that anybody who is interested in finding gemstones, minerals, fossils, expert advice on stones, a good deal on a specific stone do visit Shu's Rock Shop in League City, TX--its a small shop just off of Main St in League City. Joe, the owner's son is an expert on rocks. He really knows his stuff and he will not just price his stones--he gives you the correct price on how a stone should be (not like these guys who are ripping you off). Joe, has been in this rock business for a long time. His family goes to the Annual Rock, Gem, and Mineral shows every year whether its the one in Pasadena for the Clear Lake Gem and Mineral Society or the one in Humble for the Houston Gem and Mineral Society. Just go check him out and you won't be sorry that you took the drive down to League City. I've personally gotten a lot of goodies (beautiful stones) from Shu's Rock Shop. read more

Everything looks dirty and in a state of disrepair. As if they're moving things around but too lazy to finish. Some of their crystals are mislabeled ( heat treated amethyst labeled citrine and satin spar labelled celenite). The fact that they only have one scoop for all their herbs is ridiculous. Being as this is set up to seem like a good shop for witchcraft... they should know better. All the tarot cards boxes are damaged. The prices are at an INSANE mark up. The woman working the register was at another counter completely ignoring the fact that me and my boyfriend were standing at the register looking around for someone. When we did finally get her.... My boyfriend politely informed her there was a crystal in my basket, she snapped and said she knew. When she was done checking me out, she realized she didnt ring up the crystal we reminded her of. She bagged it and just tossed it in my bag. Best to take your money elsewhere. Indigo moon for example is much better for Crystal's and an overall much better atmosphere. Go to your local spice shop for all the herbs you need. MUCH better prices and environment. read more

I have been visiting the Magick Caudron since Anubis was a pup. Ok, maybe not that long, but definitely for a long time...like since they were out on the Katy Freeway sharing space with JJ's Sleep Shop. I always liked it there. It has always had a little bit of a musky, dusty, old Auntie who dries herbs and keeps the toad home next to her front door feel. Ahhhh, just like a magick shop should be. Everyone here is really nice. I have never been faced with an attitude or bad case of the "pagan-er than thou" feeling. It's easy to just browse for hours looking at everything and poking through all the books. I especially enjoy the books, even though the magick scene these days has been taken over by a lot of what hub and I call "Shake-n-bake" witchcraft books. I shouldn't be condescending but those thousands of books aimed at teens for "love spells and potions" gripe my guts. I digress . For jewelry, Magick Cauldron has it going on. There are items that are aimed at most of the major paths of pagandom plus some just plain nice pieces that are pretty and/or carry some power to them based upon the stone or design. I like the jewelry and find it is generally reasonably priced. If you need some items to do some serious workings or to hold a ceremony, Magick Cauldron also has you covered. Wands, orbs, chalices, athames, all are found here. The incense and smudges available are good to get a sniff of as well as to use at home or in the field. I have also seen folks go in with good questions regarding ritual and rites and get honest, informed answers. Of course, since every path is a little different, answers will vary, but at least you'll get an informed opinion and maybe some great ideas. Tourists, you know who you are, feel free to go to the Cauldron. You will be welcome and may get an education, if you ask good questions and have an open heart. read more

Was visiting the Houston area for business and pleasure. I was looking for a few herbs and came across this store. After reading the reviews, I phoned the store to check if they had what I needed in-stock, which they did. I arrived at the store. Friendly greeting, staff was helpful, and pretty easy to navigate around. The herbs are self-serve, but that was okay too. Fast and easy check out, with a great greeting of the owner and his large fury four legged, rug like dogs. You"ll never know they were there.
