I actually came in today for a study session with some classmates and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I got done. Now the inside and tables are definitely outdated but I like how each table has an outlet and it's wide enough so you can just spread out and get some work done. The noise level isn't too loud either especially with some headphones on. Since it was a Sunday evening, I felt like it was pretty slow in the beginning but once evening hit a lot of people started coming in and a lot of people came in to sit and get work done. Most of the tables had people sitting on them with laptops out. What I liked about today is when it was slow, the cashier actually went out and wiped the tables and I felt like she did that periodically even when someone was grabbing an order to go. My friends also ordered popcorn chicken and fries and it just seems like a great snack to have while studying Wish there were more cafes like this! I ordered a peach black tea bc the cashier said black tea had the most caffeine. I requested half sweet and Crystal boba it was perfect! The galaxy drinks were really pretty and good too. I ordered my bobas (3) and when I finished paying they decided to tell me it's going to be 25mins before my order was ready. Nobody was in line so I'm assuming it was online orders that had them swamped. I would have just went somewhere else if they had just told me the wait times before I paid. It's been 30 mins and I still have nothing. I don't mind waiting for a boba however 30+ mins is a bit much and would have preferred to go elsewhere. It's an affordable, big beverage. I arrived at Magic Tea (La Verne) on Sunday (around 1:45PM). The parking lot is huge! Parking is simple & convenient. Unfortunately, its exterior is easy to miss. It's very plain and forgettable. As I approached, I see smudgy & dirty glass entrance doors. Staff is accommodating, helpful, and friendly. Staff quickly answered my questions. The "caffeine" Galaxy Tea variations include green tea. The "no caffeine" variation is just water. Staff gave great recommendations, and staff was attentive at the counter. My order took one minute and 20 seconds. Extremely fast! As mentioned, I enjoyed the Mango Galaxy Tea ($5.45) with Lychee Jelly (additional 60 cents). I selected regular ice, regular sugar, and "caffeine" (aka: includes green tea). I loved the drink's vibrant and attractive colors. It's also very sweet tea while injecting spurts of tangy mango. I especially enjoyed how the Lychee Jellies popped with a sweet flavor. It's a refreshing and decent quality beverage for its low price point. Unfortunately, ambiance is a huge weakness at Magic Tea (La Verne). Currently, this small business is an ugly place. Its furniture are worn-down & aged; the walls have faded paint & chipped pieces; and some portions of the floors & tables are unclean. I observed how staff ignored the dirty tables despite standing silently. There's almost no passion at Magic Tea (La Verne). It's been harshly aged with time. There are some positives though. First, Magic Tea (La Verne) had good ventilation. The air felt fresh. Next, I liked the soft upbeat Japanese music. Also, I appreciate how there's about five electrical outlets for devices; there's also customer wifi with password. The location even has two gender neutral restroom. This place could potentially be a study/work spot despite its dingy appearance. Overall, Magic Tea (La Verne) is not bad. I enjoyed my affordable & pretty drink. Staff is also friendly. I also ordered a jasmine green milk tea and roasted oolong milk tea. The popcorn chicken came out pipping hot, juicy, tender, and extremely crunchy. Some of the popcorn chicken had some flavor, but some did not. I don't think the popcorn chicken was evenly mixed / tossed in the flavor. The ones that didn't get any flavors on them were very bland, which is why I removed one star. The batter for the popcorn chicken was perfect. Not too thick or thin. Each order of popcorn chicken comes with 3 sauces. If you want more, each additional sauce after the first 3 sauces is .25¢ each. The popcorn chicken is a bit pricey, but totally worth the price with the amount that they give you. It's a generous portion. And as for my two drinks, the Jasmine green milk tea and roasted oolong milk tea were both very refreshing on a hot summer's day. I could really taste the floral notes in my Jasmine green milk tea. I've been to Magic Tea a few times now. I ordered the 25% sweetened Jasmine Green Milk Tea with boba, it has just the right balance of flavor without being too sweet. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients from the first sip. One thing I like is how conveniently it's located right off the freeway. If traffic's bad, I'll swing by for a drink to enjoy on the rest of my drive makes the ride way better. Fried foods: the battered and deep fried cheese stuffed pork roll was ok, though I'm not sure if they still have it. The popcorn chicken was AWESOME! Pros: long, open, airy space with plenty of tables to sit on the side. There's a solid menu of fruit teas, milk teas, and snacks at reasonable prices. Staff was friendly enough. We ordered the taro milk tea and honey green tea with boba, and both were very good. The boba itself was cooked and sweetened perfectly. We also ordered the popcorn chicken and fried mushrooms, which, just FYI, are LARGE portions -- 3-4 people can share one order of chicken and one order of mushrooms. They'll ask you what spice level you want and they come with a ranch dip. Cons: even though the shop is fairly a large, open space, we felt the staff could have paid more attention to cleanliness -- the floors near the entrance were dirty and some of the tables and chairs had food crumbs on them, all of which could have been wiped down. The bathroom was FILTHY -- from the dirty floors to the nasty, stained sink and the disgusting toilet -- the entire bathroom needs a deep cleaning. Scrub your toilets and mop your floors! And this was just one bathroom. I bet the other one was gross as well. If the bathrooms are unkempt, I can't imagine what the kitchen must look like, and the staff handles food!! Management: please have your staff attend to the restrooms. Our visit there today was shockingly foul. . Lastly, the tiny couch they have up front looks cheap and is too small for the room. I noticed the matcha by itself was sweetened, and then the strawberry at the bottom seemed to have some sort of syrup-like sweetness to it, along with the boba also being sweet.
