I have used Magic Tailors & Cleaners 1942 NE 5th Ave, Boca Raton, since I moved to Boca Raton, and up until now they had always done a very good job. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. I brought in a cotton shirt that I have had cleaned there several times before without any issue. The care label clearly indicates that it should be washed, not dry cleaned, and that bleach should never be used. When the shirt was returned to me this time, the collar and underarm areas had noticeable yellow staining that was not there before. It appears the garment was treated with chlorine bleach or another improper process, which can react badly with cotton and perspiration-related residue and permanently set discoloration. I brought the shirt back, and they sent it out again. A week later it was returned in the same condition. At that point, I purchased the exact same replacement shirt and provided proof of the $77 cost. I was not asking for cash back. I simply requested a store credit toward future cleaning. That request was refused. What made this even more frustrating was learning that none of the cleaning is actually done on site. The garments are sent to an outside facility. When I spoke with the owner, instead of trying to make things right, he pointed me to the fine print on the back of the receipt stating they are not responsible. That response was very disappointing. A business should stand behind its service, especially when a loyal customer has trusted them for years. Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how they are handled. In this case, there was no real accountability, no reasonable effort to preserve goodwill, and no willingness to offer even a store credit for a damaged garment. Based on this experience, I would urge others to be cautious, especially with items that require proper laundering instructions to be followed carefully. If something goes wrong, do not assume this business will take responsibility. read more

This place is legit. Really great work and not too expensive. I brought my elderly mom's nasty cover blanket that she had not washed since she bought it 6 years ago. She told me not to wash or dry clean it when she went out of town, as I expressed a desire to improve the smell of the room. She said if I ruined her pretty Florida blue blanket I better go into witness protection. But I'm a bad kid who doesn't listen, so I took it to this highly rated establishment to try my luck. The people taking it were very friendly and understanding of my desire not to have to flee the country because my mom's blanket got ruined. They did an AMAZING job- no dry cleaning smell at all!!! The blanket looked (and smelled) amazing! The price was even more amazing, and they folded it up and gave me a nice little carrier so it wasn't all over the place. Dropped off a brand new dress to get it ONLY PRESSED and came back with multiple stains. Tried asking for it to get fixed and one lady was very rude like it was my fault. They tried to fix it the next day but i went in today and the stains were still there. Go somewhere else honestly read more

After seeing mixed online I thought I would try Magic Touch Cleaning and alterations for what I thought was simple straightforward alteration. My pants for work were $28 and take from Thursday to Tuesday afternoon to receive. Needed them so ok. My daughters tank bathing suit needed to be taken in at shoulders about a quarter of an inch. Was told would get a call today with pricing and I did get the call this afternoon. $99 thats right $99 to take in my teens bathing suit at the shoulder. Nothing else. Told them when I brought it in it shoulder flutter fabric can be removed if needed. Growing up here in South Florida this is something I have done before so I know I can be done for less for $99. My sister was watching my 12 year old dog while I was on vacation, and my dog had an accident in my sister's bed. (Which I can't believe because she never does that at home!) Needless to say, I had to bring her comforter in to get dry cleaned and paid an extra $5 for stain removal. There is zero trace of urine, it smells great, and was a fair price to repair. I also brought in one outfit that was dry clean only. My things were ready quickly, and everything looks great. However, they did accidentally give me someone else's pants. I texted the guy and he happened to live down the street from me so he picked them up in the lobby of my building. Besides that, everything was perfect. I've seen people post that they lost some of their stuff - so I'm guessing this happens often - however the ticket on the items have the customers name and phone number so they can easily be returned to the owner if you are an honest person. read more

Over the course of one month I brought shirts in for be laundered. On two separate occasions they lost a shirt. One was found 2 weeks later. The other never showed up. During the 2 months they were trying to locate my shirt, they showed me at least 8 other shirts to see if any of them were mine. They weren't, but this means that they had at least 8 other customers missing their shirts as well. After 2 months they finally agreed that they weren't going to find my shirt and offered me a store credit. I explained that I wouldn't be able to buy a replacement with a store credit. Then they offered less than new cost because the shirt was more than 3 weeks old. Again, I am not replacing the shirt they lost with a used shirt. I prefer to buy new clothing. If your clothing is important to you, you may want to avoid this cleaner. read more

They had 2 brand new Alice n Olivia white/black leather trousers, I needed 2.5 inches cut off the hem. The pants still have store tags on them, I brought them in with clear garment bag to protect the pants, after she pinned them For alteration I conveyed to her how important it was to be careful with white because her work station had pens on the desk. She told me not to worry she's careful ' does great work. I received a text 3 days later the pants were ready after paying $100 for hems. I Got there & my new white pants were destroyed with pen ink on the leg. Black hanger clip marks on white waist because she took off my clip protector. Hem Was splitting, needless to say I was upset. I specifically had this conversation with them about my concern & woala they were able to damage my new $425 pant so easily with zero regard! I showed Penny the damage she called her boss who doesn't answer. I ended up emailing Javier he said to bring them back & he'd take them To his factory in Miami to be fixed like new. Well, I got the call pants are ready Friday, I went there & no pants? They said they made a mistake come Saturday, I did & to my dismay they DID NOTHING!! My pants are ruined, they didn't even try to clean it for 6 days but they did cut the splitting hem, so they gave me back my ink stains pants with black clip damage on the waist & had the nerve to ask if Javier c personally take them back to Miami the next day to fix it. Wonderful service! My husband and I both bring our dry cleaning here, and Yenni always does a great job. I have also had several pieces of clothing altered here, both pants and tops, and I would trust her to alter anything. She has a good eye for how things should fit, which I have found to be a problem with other alterations. I noticed that they offered a Yelp check-in offer for 20% off of your first visit & I needed a hem done on my new skirt. I needed my skirt dry cleaned since it's new & it was being altered. My one experience here was not that good. I found the owner to be rude & dismissive. She offered to refund my money on the cleaning & when I picked up my skirt I reminded her of the refund. She gave me a hard time, but she did keep her word; although she didn't remember offering me the refund. My skirt was never sent out to be cleaned & I was very disappointed that it wasn't ready on the day I was told to pick it up. She didn't enter the notes on the ticket correctly. I get it, we all make mistakes. What upset me was she had excuses that didn't add up. First I was told my skirt was sent out for cleaning, then she found my skirt & told me it was cleaned & pressed. She presented it to me on a hanger that was not covered with plastic. It was clearly obvious that my skirt was neither pressed or cleaned. I brought it to her attention that I wasn't buying any of her stories. She offered to have it cleaned & she said she will drop it off at my house around 9:30pm. Are you kidding me? The woman tells me stories & then expects me to give her my address, thanks but no thanks. Once you start making up stories that is when I take my business elsewhere. The hem was not done properly & it's at another place down the street being fixed. I'm picking it up after work. I can't recommend this business based upon my experience. This business deserves negative 5 stars. I use yelp religiously for everything from wine and dine to all sorts of businesses. I picked this place solely on reviews and couldn't have been more livid. Huge mistake. It's run by a lady who is unfriendly and unprofessional. I decided to go with the benefit of the doubt and have my dress altered here due to the high reviews (in which they probably paid for). Unfortunately, they do not care about customer satisfaction and do not guarantee results. SHE DID NOT COMPLETE THE TASK. There was a hole in my dress which they stated they weren't responsible for and that they won't fix it unless I paid more money. You have to pay when you drop off (not after) your items. NEVER trust a tailor that demands money upfront. Once they have your money, there is absolutely nothing you can do. Many tailors give you the option to pay when you pick up your items. DO NOT come here if you value a tailor that is genuine and cares about your satisfaction. Most tailors take pride in the quality of their work and collect the money when you pick up your clothes. This lady eats your money and you have to accept whatever she spits back out. She is a thief. There are so many good tailors out there, please spare yourself from this lady. read more

If you want to see your dollars magically disappear - get your alterations done here. The prices are not posted anywhere to see and once you have your garment on they tell you the price - easily 3 or 4 times more than ANY tailor I've used in Boca. Having an event and a strict timeline, I reluctantly agreed thinking they must be extra good. When I picked up the dress - there was a note that they weren't able to hem it properly because of the particular type of fabric (rubbery scuba) but that they cut it shorter with a scissor and left the unfinished edge. I said fine, please refund me the difference in price. At which point they said - on no our minimum is $95, there is absolutely nothing we can do. We had to use special scissors to cut the bottom off your dress. There you have it folks - cut your own hem with your own special "scissors" at home and take the family out to dinner or go to Nico's tailor a few blocks away and pay $20-$30 for a full alteration with proper sowing and all. read more

Excellent! I'm happy I found this place and very pleased with both, the job done and the service. Good thing they open latter than most tailors in the same area. When I walked in last Friday i was greeted by Yenni, very nice, friendly and welcoming. Tried my dress on and explained to her exactly what I wanted, she really didn't need much explanation, i was in and out in a matter of maybe 10 minutes. I was able to pick up my dress today (3 business days) and it looks fantastic! Exactly what i wanted. Price to me was fair, considering East Boca is not a cheap area. If I could give zero stars I would. Dropped off a wedding dress to be fixed. We agreed on the date, she even pushed it back an extra day to be sure she would have time. Now it's the day before I need the dress and I have nothing to wear. I showed up to pick it up and she just hadn't done it. No explanation, no real solution. A dress that didn't fit me 6PM the night before I needed it. Completely wasted weeks of my time because I trusted someone so incompetent. She never called me while she had my dress to let me know she didn't have time. She just didn't do her work. She won't return my money. This is the most irresponsible, unprofessional establishment I have ever worked with. Please please please learn from my mistake and don't trust them with anything important/timely that you're relying on. read more

The lady I spoke to in the am said she could hem my daughters dress and have it back to me in the am. When I arrived they said they couldn't do it even though I called first. Then she said she would do the hem for $85 for a HEM. These ladies totally take advantage of people. Not nice. read more

Very disappointed. I'm new to the area and was looking for a good cleaner to go to so I figured I'd try out Magic Tailor and Cleaners. I dropped off just 2 shirts and 1 pair of pants on a Thursday afternoon and was told they would be ready by Tuesday afternoon at the latest. I went by Tuesday afternoon and they were not ready. I went by Wednesday morning and only the pants were ready. I went by Wednesday afternoon and only 1 shirt was ready. My other shirt is still not ready as of this writing. The owner blamed the errors on their cleaning service and said that a worker burned her hand so they were way behind but will still be charging full price. I decided there was no need to contest the price, as I will simply take my business elsewhere going forward. If they can't clean 3 articles of clothing in less than a week, then I'm definitely not going to bring my larger orders there. Future crisis avoided I suppose! read more

DISCRIMINATORY PRICING. PRICE WAS HIGHER AT PICK UP THAN WHAT WAS STATED ON THE TICKET. I brought 5 women's shirts and one men's shirts in to be ironed. All of the shirts were the same design: long sleeved, collared and buttoned down. I was given a ticket that said the total would be $27, however when I went in to pick up my shirts, the total was higher. Obviously, I wasn't happy that they were trying to charge me more than the amount reflected on my ticket. The woman said that when I dropped off the shirts, it wasn't clear that 5 of them were women's shirts, and that they cost MORE to iron than a man's shirt. The ticket I was given only notes that 6 shirts were to be ironed. No where does it specify male or female. 2 of my five shirts had lips on them, the other 2 had hearts, not only that, but they were smaller than the one men's shirt. It was OBVIOUS they were women's shirts. The woman claimed she didn't realize at drop off that they were women's shirts and therefore they cost more and I should've specified that. She never asked and it seemed obvious from the size and the prints that 5 of the shirts were for a woman. I will not be back given that they practice DISCRIMINATORY pricing. Ladies, you will pay more to have your shirts ironed than a man's shirt, even though it has no extra fabric or details which require extra work or even extra care/caution. Shady. read more
