Wednesday afternoon, 4 families lost their homes due to roofers damaging a water pipe and flooding the building. The city came and condemned the entire building by Wednesday night and we all had to leave. One family has lost everything, the other 3 have lost their homes. While the roofing company and the HOA that hired them are trying to figure out who is responsible, 4 families are looking for a new place to live for the foreseeable future. No relief has come from the roofing company nor the HOA to assist with those efforts. However, I have to tell you all about the amazing people at Magic Pet in Baldwin Park who looked past how busy they already are during the Christmas season, and decided to help the people. As soon as our home was condemned, around 6:30PM Wednesday night, I walked to Magic Pet and told them what had happened and that we needed a place to take our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I told them I didn't know how long they would be there and we needed help. The owner looked at me and said, "Bring Them. Bring Them. We are busy, but we are a community and we are here to help our community. Bring them." I almost cried as one stress was immediately lifted with no questions - just compassion and a willingness to help. If you ever need boarding or grooming services for your pets, they have always treated our sweet pups well - and they are treating the humans well also. While the roofing company and HOA are trying to save as much money as possible and continue to hold someone else responsible for the immense damage, the wonderful owner of Magic Pet made room and DID something to help. read more

Update: I had to take pup to the vet next day because he started bleeding out of the cut. He ended up needing stitches which took the whole day. Magic Pet refunded our grooming fee and paid the the vet bill. Hopefully they will be more careful in the future so this wont happen to anyone else's pup and also better communication when accidents happen. Overall I still will not come back for any more grooming but I do have to give them credit for following up, refunding and paying for the vet fee. read more

The first time grooming was alright. I think the groomer tried to do a good job. The second time was a great disappointment, with choppy cut, and uneven all over my dog's body. It took me a good 30 minutes to go after even out some sections of my pup's body. The groomer said my dog was calm, but why such a poor job? Also, there is renovation in the store, very noisy, and he had other dogs. His wife is rude and inappropriate. I needed to reschedule an appointment due to inclement weather and she literally scolded me. Disappointing. I will not take my dog ever and do not recommend it to others. read more

Absolutely love Magic Pet Grooming Services! The owner is super sweet and is SO good with animals. Marshall, our fur baby, is a 90 pound Black German Shepherd with a bark on him. I originally made an appointment with Petco and left immediately after seeing the dogs locked up in kennels and pee all over the floor. After that I was pretty traumatized about leaving my boy with a groomer. I decided to give Magic Pet a try after hearing wonderful things from an apartment tour. I was not disappointed. Given how my dog looks, it's pretty easy to misjudge him and treat him like the scary dog he isn't. however, this place was different. Without hesitation, the owner played with Marsh for 10 minutes so that Marsh could be acclimated to him. He clipped his nails and gave him a bath which left his coat looking super shiny! He is GREAT with pets which was my biggest concern when looking for a groomer. There are no kennels and he has little cubicles to hold the dogs while boarding/ waiting. He is worth every penny and we will definitely coming back. Cannot rave about this place enough!! read more

Great little pet shop in the Baldwin Park area . They took over the space previously occupied by Baldwin Bark. To be honest, only thing that has really changed is the name and the owners. The interior of the store looked the same to me. They sell a large amount of high quality pet food and products, toys and other pet related trinkets. The owner (I can safely assume) was behind the register. At first he didn't really speak to us but when I approached him about the cost of their large bag of chicken chips, he warmed up. His dog is in the shop also and was so well behaved. We chatted about his dog as well as the types of food they carry. And I found out that he is related to the owner of Planet Pet and Farm & Pet Outlet. Small world since I shop at PP since it's so close to my house. I had a good experience here and would come back if I was in the area. Unfortunately, it's out of the way for me so probably wouldn't be a regular stop for me but if you live in the area and want the best for your dog, this would be a start! read more

Took my dog in to get groomed, he came back smelling like the store smells... like it's never been cleaned. His cut was not great either, choppy and he said my dog moves too much... weird, I've never gotten that feedback after 10 years of having him groomed. I opted for a mobile service instead, which does NOT cage him, actually does a fantastic job grooming and bathing, does not hurt him, and my dog couldn't be happier. I would not recommend this place. Been trying to get an appointment here for ever they don't pick up the phone so I went in person. No one was available to open the door I waited for 15 mins and I know there were people there because I saw a lady, with their dog. Very pleased with the daycare service. I didn't see any reviews for the daycare so I went in feeling a bit blind but the owner that watched my dog was great and sent me pictures/an update during the day. I had walked into some other daycares in the area and they seem overcrowded (and smell) but this was clean and didn't seem like too many dogs at once - just the perfect amount. My dog is now sleeping like a baby, which she never does! I can tell she definitely had a fun day and was taken care of by the owner. Their prices are also great too, and they always have sales going on plus they price match. I would say the only downside to this store is that sometimes they have their young son working the register and he is very young, not very knowledgeable and not very approachable.But this is something they are aware of now, and there is absolutely nowhere I would rather go than this place. I had been going to the store for sometime now, and I must say it had been a great experience. I purchased two large bags of food for my dog after He was out of the hospital for intestinal problems (something that my dog ate outside the house). The food did not agree with my dog too much and I had to return it because the vet put my dog on medicated food. The owner took back both bags and he gave me a full refund for them. We talked for awhile about the condition of my dog and recommended home remedies that worked great. The owner really cares for every costumer's pet, and he always want the best for them. Worst experience for my 7mo old indoor puppy. This team tried to cover up a flea outbreak at the downtown Baldwin Park store on June 5th, 2018 that contaminated my dog. (Who was wearing a flea collar and received his monthly topical treatment on June 1st, 2018) After being confronted for blatant lying and even though your staff was verbally aggressive towards a patron, I'm glad your team was finally honest about the fact that another pet being groomed at the same time in the same area was "covered in fleas", an exact quote from the groomer. My silky terrier gets a very specific and detailed hair cut and every single time the groomers here cut/shave her exactly as I want it. The quality of work is amazing. They always work with me, letting me drop her off earlier or pick her up later if I need to because of my unusual work schedule. I have always felt in good hands here and never had any issue. The owner and Stephanie really took their time with my anxious Belgian Malinois. I called ahead of time and told them I was nervous because he doesn't like new people and growls and barks at other dogs, so I wasn't sure how he would react in a new environment. They scheduled me at a time when there were no other dogs around, and helped relax my dog and make him feel comfortable. Throughout the grooming process, Stephanie was patient and sweet. I am in the process of sending a formal complaint. Their groomer shaved my dog without permission and he is unrecognizable! The owner was NOT apologetic and handed me off to the groomer via phone call which was combative and rude. NEVER get your dogs groomed here! There is terrible communication. The groomer told us our dog would need to be cut short to get some mats out, but NOT shaved! We have before and after pictures of our puppies beautiful hair, it was long but not severely matted! We have a cavachon and he looks like a poodle now. We are disgusted! Only dogs that are severely matted should be shaved and permission should be granted from the owners! After not having much luck at Pet Smart for my special rescue dog. I brought my dog here based on reviews. Plus it was the only place opened on Sunday that had an opening for my nervous dog who hadn't had a haircut since I got him 3 months before. He was so nervous but the groomer was such a sweet pro at handling him. She had me sit with him so that he would feel comfortable. So that future visits, he would feel safe. I watched her handle him with care and was very sweet to him. I would definitely come back here again for dealing with my nervous little pup! I have taken my dog to magic pet twice now, once for full groom and once for mini groom. Both times they were great. This is so close and so much nicer than petsmart, which i liked for grooming too but were ofter all booked. The owner is great and his dog is a sweetheart. My favorite part is that they use premium products and they do not charge you for things like conditioner, which my dog absolutely needs, or nail grinding which she also needs. The groomer is great too we have had two different ones that listen to what I wanted done and that seemed to really enjoy what they do. Overall this is my go to groomer now. We had brought our golden retriever to magic pet for the first time and we had no problems. The second time we brought her she came home with a cut on her neck and was infested with fleas. We decided to go one more time just because she really needed to be groomed. She came home and 4 hours later both of her eyes were swollen shut and clearly infected. This store was just okay. Maybe it's because we went in there on a Monday afternoon but I couldn't wait to leave. At first I had high hopes there was a nice dog named Jax that greeted us at the door. That was the highlight of the visit. There was a college or high school person at the register that couldn't bother to look up..and we were the only people in there. He did say very softly let me know if you have any questions. I found a dry dog food I wanted to try in a trial size and I asked how much...He said 7 or 8 dollars from across the store. It was like one serving? I love supporting business in baldwin park and I ended up getting a large bag of natural dog food which was clearly marked $18.99. I took it to the register the the cashier said $26.50. I said it's clearly marked $18.99. he said "It's not in the system" I again pointed to the sticker and he finally figured out how to ring it up manually. I do have to say the selection of food seemed pretty robust. They had dry dog food and frozen dog food. Some dog toys..Looks like they had grooming in the back....Overall...the ambiance was very uninviting and unfriendly. Truly the saddest pet store I've ever been in. Nothing Magical here.
