This is hands down one of the best playgrounds/parks we've been to. The playground is located at the Coyote Point Recreation Area, which has a tremendous amount of activities to enjoy. We walked along the rocky shore walkway and found a place where kayaks can be rented. They also had an additional playground (pirate theme), a beach volleyball area, a beach area, and open grassy areas. We didn't have enough to check everything out, and we'll definitely return when we're back in the Bay Area. TIP: The Coyote Point Recreation Area has a fee for vehicle access. The cost is $6 per vehicle, and FREE for military, and Veteran's with a VA ID.

What a fantastic playground! Magic Mountain is such a hidden gem right here in San Mateo. We stumbled upon it after visiting CuriOdyssey and I'm so glad we did. The playground equipment is amazing that castle structure with the tube slide had my kids entertained for hours! I love how it's all themed and feels like a real adventure playground. There are different areas for different age groups too, which is perfect when you have kids of varying ages. The best part might be all the open space for picnics. We brought our lunch and found a perfect spot under the trees. It's rare to find a playground with this much room to spread out and relax while the kids play. The whole area feels safe and well-maintained. It's the perfect complement to a day at CuriOdyssey we made a whole day of it! The kids burned off energy here while we enjoyed the beautiful San Mateo weather. This is definitely going on our regular rotation of family spots. Pro tip: pack a picnic and make an afternoon of it!

Very big area, bathrooms and gates play structure. Like other reviews mention they don't have anything for infants and toddlers. Still a beautiful park. They also had party areas.

My grandchildren love this park! They call it Dragon park because of the cool dragons! The playground equipment is really cool and creative. They have a section for the little kids and one for a bit older. Besides the tradition swings, they have hanging tire, "zip" hanger, complex slides and of course the cool dragon. All of the playground is covered in rubberized mats and sawdust. They can play here for hours. It's just inside the gate to CuriOdyssey so you do have to pay $6 to get into the park. Plenty of parking.

Magic Mountain Playground, San Mateo Absolutely love this huge playground which is divided into 2 sections for two age groups and also has plenty of swings. There's public restrooms and plenty parking. Just no shade on the playground. Located at Coyote Point. Btw, CuriOdyssey children's museum is less than 5 min drive from here which is with checking out with your children. For more tips: @grace.loves.adventures

Great outdoors for kids all age. They can run around with their parents and plenty of swings and slides for kids to share.

Directions on Yelp extremely far off. It took us to the shoreline into the curiosity playground and zoo. Beware.

Good location next to the ocean for a cool breeze on very hot days for the kids to play. And you could also have a party picnic or bbq.

Fun park but $6 parking just to come here for an hour or two is a bit ridiculous. On hot days the slide gets really warm!

There was a lot of parking when we went on a Saturday afternoon. They had a few parking lots scattered in the area. There are a lot of picnic areas that you can reserve for the BBQ grills. There were plenty of bathrooms scattered throughout the picnic areas. The one I used was relatively clean and had plenty of toilet paper. They have a lot of trails here where you can bike or walk. You can watch the planes go in and out of the airport above you! There are also a lot of birds hanging out in and by water if you want to bird watch. I was hoping to catch some sea lions but I guess they weren't around. There is unfortunately a lot of powerlines in the area that would spoil an otherwise nice view but what can you do. I also saw there was a yacht club by the water! I saw you could rent the facilities for parties (not sure if you had to be a member or not).

My most favorite part of Coyote Point Recreation Area is the CuriOdyssey, which you can see my review for separately. Although this is a beach, it's unlike any beach that I've seen in SoCal, at least in my area. Pretty green, murky, and muddy, I wouldn't say it's the most ideal to go into, especially if you're not going to immediately shower afterwards. I don't think I saw people in the water either, even with it being June, but the breeze and cooler Bay Area weather kept everything nice and mild. Most people were flying kites or just going on walks. There are rentals for wind surfing and there were a couple people suited up for that. I heard there was a cosplay gathering here and it made many a cosplayer's outfit green though...There are playgrounds for the kids, a good amount of trees, a couple trails, a marina for the boats docked there, and some monthly/seasonal community events as well. I don't think I'd normally visit this area if it weren't for the CuriOdyssey, but it's not bad when I am there.
