We had just flown into SFO the night before and were looking for a good park nearby to go to, thankfully we saw that this was right next to CuriOdyssey which we were planning on going to. The parking fee to enter the whole greater park is reasonable especially with all of the things you can do in Coyote Point. One of the cooler playgrounds we have seen, clearly this was really well thought out. Having the 3 story castle really got our daughter excited as soon as she saw it. The dragons to talk through to each other is really unique. Our daughter had a blast playing here and meeting a couple of kids early in the morning. Well maintained park, clean, seems to be a pretty safe spot. As a parent chasing a 4 year old the fencing between the big kids and little kids area was pretty annoying since it lacked gates where I would expect them to be. read more

This is hands down one of the best playgrounds/parks we've been to. The playground is located at the Coyote Point Recreation Area, which has a tremendous amount of activities to enjoy. We walked along the rocky shore walkway and found a place where kayaks can be rented. They also had an additional playground (pirate theme), a beach volleyball area, a beach area, and open grassy areas. We didn't have enough to check everything out, and we'll definitely return when we're back in the Bay Area. TIP: The Coyote Point Recreation Area has a fee for vehicle access. The cost is $6 per vehicle, and FREE for military, and Veteran's with a VA ID. read more

What a fantastic playground! Magic Mountain is such a hidden gem right here in San Mateo. We stumbled upon it after visiting CuriOdyssey and I'm so glad we did. The playground equipment is amazing that castle structure with the tube slide had my kids entertained for hours! I love how it's all themed and feels like a real adventure playground. There are different areas for different age groups too, which is perfect when you have kids of varying ages. The best part might be all the open space for picnics. We brought our lunch and found a perfect spot under the trees. It's rare to find a playground with this much room to spread out and relax while the kids play. The whole area feels safe and well-maintained. It's the perfect complement to a day at CuriOdyssey we made a whole day of it! The kids burned off energy here while we enjoyed the beautiful San Mateo weather. This is definitely going on our regular rotation of family spots. My grandchildren love this park! They call it Dragon park because of the cool dragons! The playground equipment is really cool and creative. They have a section for the little kids and one for a bit older. Besides the tradition swings, they have hanging tire, "zip" hanger, complex slides and of course the cool dragon. All of the playground is covered in rubberized mats and sawdust. They can play here for hours. It's just inside the gate to CuriOdyssey so you do have to pay $6 to get into the park. Just a heads up: there's a $6 entrance/parking fee, which I wasn't expecting. We didn't stay too long, so it felt a bit steep for a short visit. I'd say it's totally worth it if you're planning a picnic or a family gathering and can make a whole day out of it. There's tons of parking, and you can also walk by the beach and play in the sand -- though when we went, the sand was pretty wet. This is a great playground for the little ones to run around in. It's part of Coyote Point Park, so you have to pay $6 to get in. I think the pro of this is that it probably doesn't get as crowded here as some other public playgrounds might. They have areas sectioned off for the little versus older kids - the main castle that they have in the big kid area is tall! My son loved going all the way up top and then coming down the big slide where you get to slide down FAST. There are picnic areas right outside the playground and a large open grassy area to run around and kick a ball around if you'd like. I wish that the playground was a little bit more contained for the kids who are flight risks, but I guess you can't have it all. read more

Directions on Yelp extremely far off. It took us to the shoreline into the curiosity playground and zoo. Beware.

Mandatory $6 fee to enter the park area. The outdoor park area is honestly very clean and perfect to have a picnic or host a kids party. The older kids can ride their bike or scooter around on the nearby trails. Brought my two little ones here after visiting CuriOdyssey. Both are doable in one day. Specifically for the playground: please make sure that your kids are wearing tennis shoes and long pants because there are many uneven areas and I saw a few kids tripping because they were wearing crocs or slippers. The slides get hot so the kids legs could easily get stung by the heat. Make sure you have something on hand for them to drink. If you are hosting a party in the area, this is great! One downside that I want to mention about this playground is that there is not enough shade within the playground. My kids were fine the first two hours, but looked a little burnt from the sun so we left. Other kids would try and cool down underneath the slides but that looked dangerous. The great things were that there are multiple sides to the park with different variety of slides. One section is for the toddlers where they can slide, swing, teeter totter, and just run wild. The other side is for kids who can climb: zipline, castle tube slide, and plenty of areas to climb such as the dragons and dome. We will be returning and a little more prepared, maybe a small cooler with drinks and snacks, a sun hat, and sunglasses. read more

nestled in the heart of coyote point recreation area, this is a wonderful playground for children of all ages. they have separate play areas, one is more suitable for young toddlers, and the other is suitable for children upwards of 10, or older. meeting with my 3 nieces, ages 3, 5, and 9, this really was the perfect park for them, since the 3 year old would run around, and sometimes sit on the kiddie swing, while the 9 year old was more adventurous, wanting to climb the more challenging playground structure, do acrobatics on the bar, etc. the 5 year old was happy with almost everything here. there are restrooms off to the side, separate men's & women's, with flush toilets and running water. parking is on the other side of the playground, the only catch is that you have to pay $6 for entry, cash & credit card accepted. read more

This playground truly is magical! My daughter loves coming here whenever we come to coyote point. The playground has a cool castle and dragons theme and lots of picnic space to reserve tables. We had my daughter four year old party here on a Saturday in April and it was definitely a popular place because there were parties everywhere. It was great to see so many families and friends enjoying themselves. There is so much space and greenery and the bay is also there with beautiful views! After having fun at the zoo and museum, the kids needed something like a gymnasium. Too much energy from CuriOdyssey they were becoming bossy. Woo hoo!! A park nearby! They can run around and fly! WOW!!! Probably the most fun park around honestly. Unique, safe, innovative, and just downright fun!! So many things to do and it's directly next to the water with restrooms. As a teacher, I give this playground a 15 out of 10! After taking the kids on a field trip to CuriOdyssey (this was like 1.5 yrs ago and I've just lagged with this review) the kids needed a place to eat their lunch and run around. My teacher aide and I decided to take the kids on a walk closer to the water so they were able to eat their lunches and spot wildlife. It was extremely serendipitous that we found this playground! It has these huge incredible dragon and castle sculptures and there's a little playground for younger kids as well. We really appreciated that there was a gate surrounding the playground so the kids knew their boundaries as well as a bathroom nearby (literally every teachers' dream)! This playground was so cool and large scale that my teacher aide and I found ourselves playing right alongside the kids... because really what is a teacher other than a grown up kid themselves, am I right!? Our bus driver was able to pick us up right next to the playground which was another big plus! The fresh air, large space, and choice of play structures was definitely the perfect combo for a day full of fun! I know this is true because most of the kids fell asleep on the bus on the way back lol. Make a trip and visit!
