I really enjoyed my hotel stay here! It is one of the more reasonably priced hotels on the island and was exactly what I needed as a solo traveler. The air conditioning worked great and the bed was comfy. Unfortunately the wifi didn't quite reach my room, but that didn't have a huge impact on my stay. The best part of course is the epic view. Wow! I would definitely stay here again

Hotel is high in the mountains with amazing views about 15 to 20 min drive from the airport. $15/pp via Mike's Taxi. Check in was great, staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurant is still closed so went up the hill, fun walk at night to Sibs for dinner, which was good. Continental breakfast in their restaurant was good but limited. Room Queen bed, nice view. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. For a night or two recommended as hotel, room & bathroom etc. are very outdated. Lots of steps so beware if you can't climb stairs especially with luggage. Pool looked nice and clean.

On our recent trip to St. John, we opted to spend our first night on St. Thomas. The Mafolie Hotel was a wonderful start to our trip. The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle from the airport, and we didn't have a rental car, so we had to wait a few about 15 minutes for a taxi ride, but not a big deal. The Mafolie is located high on the hillside with a spectacular view of Charlotte Amalie. Our flight got in early, and our room was almost ready, so we enjoyed complimentary beverages by the poolside, overlooking the harbor. Beautiful. We checked in on time. Our room was not fancy, but it was nicely appointed and very clean, and the bed was perfectly comfortable. The acclaimed Mafolie restaurant was closed the night we were there (Tuesdays), but the helpful staff member (sorry, didn't write down her name!) recommended Sib's, a short walk up the hill, which was delightful. (Note: if you go to Sib's in the evening, take a flashlight or headlamp for the walk back. We did, and we were glad!) After dinner, we enjoyed the view from the pool deck which is SPECTACULAR. We mapped constellations, as church bells chimed in Charlotte Amalie, frogs croaked, and roosters crowed. After a lovely night's sleep, we enjoyed breakfast (included with the room) at the Mafolie Restaurant. Coffee and orange juice were served right away. My wife had the avocado toast, and I had an omelet. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. Ella, our hostess at the restaurant, was jovial and added so much to our morning experience. Irish, front desk, arranged for a taxi to take us to the Red Hook ferry at 11 am, which was check out time--we wanted to enjoy every minute of our stay! One small issue: the room we reserved (a Junior King Suite) was more spectacular than the room we stayed in. I got in touch with the Mafolie, they apologized and refunded us the difference. We look forward to staying there on our next trip!

We stayed here before and after a bare boating trip in the BVI. Rooms are comfortable, plenty of AC, booked the Villa room at the end of our stay, a perfect way to regroup after sailing. The restaurant serves a wonderful dinner, cocktails at Happy Hour, complimentary breakfast all with a gorgeous view of the bay and Charlotte Amalie. Only downside is that it's high in the hills so not convenient if you want to step outside to take a stroll to get an iced coffee. But worth it if you prefer a smaller hotel with some character versus the larger corporate ones.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful when it came to all things St. Thomas. The bar tender gave us some great ideas that greatly I handed our trip. We had the upper villa which was truly amazing. I would definitely like to stay here again.

Our junior suite (Room 110) had a scenic view that is hard to beat. The king bed was very comfortable (tried the sofa bed but am glad to hear it's being upgraded soon). The cleaning staff was efficient and the bedroom a/c was so helpful for a good night's sleep. Bathroom met our needs.

Gorgeous hotel with a breathtaking room!!!!! Every room is unique and the landscape is gorgeous. The views are unmatched! The hotel has their own restaurant and bar, that includes free breakfast! The drinks at the bar were great and I loved the bartenders/servers. There's a pool that overlooks that same beautiful view and some rooms even have balconies. Mine had one and I couldn't stay off it it. Since the hotel is on the hill/mountain the stairs up and down around the whole property can be a doozy. Be aware too that the later in the evening it gets, the less taxi drivers want to drive all the way up there.

I couldn't get enough of this beautiful view! We stayed at the Mafolie for 5 nights and had a lovely time. The hotel had a local feel compared to a typical chain hotel. We enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant a few times. The drinks were all amazing and the bartenders were great. The view was incredible throughout the day and the hotel is centrally located on the island so a taxi just about anywhere was $8-$10 per person. All of the workers were incredibly kind and accommodating. The pool was never super busy and was open for the majority of the day. The king room itself had a shared balcony and was average but the higher rooms with solo balconies would be worth the upgrade. I definitely recommend this hotel - or at least a night here for dinner - for the views alone!

The hotel has spectacular views and is such a cute little boutique hotel. The free breakfast was awesome and dinner was just as good. Our bartender Jay was awesome and very accommodating. The manager was extremely helpful but the front desk clerk was extremely rude and miserable! She needs to go to some etiquette classes and learn some customer service skills! She ignored me when I said good morning and appeared like I was bothering her by speaking to her! I also don't appreciate her talking under her breath as I walked away after checking out! Rude and disrespectful maybe take some pointers from your very professional manager!!!! FYI I was at this hotel August 6-7, 2022 so beware of the miserable front desk lady!!!

If there was a way to give this place more stars i would. Fantastic views, amazing food and an even better staff. Thank you to you all that make this place possible.

Oh Mafolie hotel and restaurant, you really encourage and justify, my laziness in not wanting to use my kitchen on a daily basis. The hubby and I have a new home right across the street from this restaurant and every night, delicious smells come out of here to beg us to spend more money there, who are we to argue? If you've never been here before, reservations are a must. We've been here on week nights and weekends and it's never slow for dinner. Ok, so here's the secret if you don't have a reservation, there are 2 seats at the end of the bar, right next to the railing that we always snag. But if we're there, when you visit, we'll probably be in them. Parking consists of all of 3 spots. You may have guessed it but they are also never empty during dinner service. Everyone parks on the road, so as long as your car is half in the grass, you'll be ok. Just copy everyone else parked on the road or take a taxi. Paige, the bartender, always takes such great care of us. I think everything is faster at the bar with getting drinks, apps, and entrees. My hubby and I highly recommend the filet, we get it every time we go here, it's covered in a thick savory, beefy sauce that I want to bathe in, it tastes so good. Go with Paige's custom drinks, they've never disappointed us. The views will make all of your worries disappear. It's very romantic, and we've meet couples that have gotten engaged here and keep on returning for their anniversaries. This is a very cool spot and a great excuse to ditch the kids at home for some alone time!

Yes that is the view.

The servers act like they do not want to be here and the lobby and car service folks as well. Right now I've waited 45 mins to get room service on the line. I either get hung up on or no answer at all. Sent multiple food items back as they were either raw, or never showed up. When I told a server on our first day here the ceviche was big clumps of tuna with some mango pieces she just said ok. We waited 50 mins because our order was lost at the sea side BBQ restaurant. Balcony was never swept and bath gel was never delivered. It's a beautiful location with a lot of potential but i can't recommend this hotel as the service is absolutely non existent.

The resort is easy to get around, beautifully landscaped, and spotless -- from the rooms and grounds to the common areas. The staff couldn't have been nicer -- everyone we met was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. Our room was right by the ocean and just steps from the private beach, which made it feel extra special. The infinity pool was large and never crowded, and the swim-up bar was a fun touch. There were always plenty of lounge chairs available, so we never had to rush out early to grab one. We also appreciated having access to the amenities at the sister property, The Westin, which added even more options during our stay. The bartenders at The Sandbar, Sean and Michael, really stood out -- super friendly, attentive, and just great to talk to. The food there was excellent (we especially loved the pizza and tacos), and the portions were just right. We also used the valet service, which was quick and very helpful with our luggage. Breakfast at Sugarfin was delicious, though a bit pricey -- the $25 French toast was hands-down the best I've ever had, and honestly, I'd order it again. The orange juice, bacon, and sausage were also excellent. We did run into a couple of small issues, but the staff handled them quickly and professionally. One thing to note -- the "king" beds are actually a bit narrower than a standard king (about six inches). Malika from Service Express explained that all rooms have this size to maximize space, and he was kind enough to offer a small resort credit for the inconvenience. We really appreciated how he handled it. The sunsets from the property were absolutely stunning -- some of the best we've ever seen. On our last night, we had dinner at Isla Blue, the fine dining restaurant on-site. Service was excellent, and most of the food was fantastic. I did have an issue with my filet that took a bit of follow-up to get resolved, but once upper management got involved, they handled it very professionally and made things right. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Buoy Haus. It's a beautiful, relaxing resort with a great atmosphere and amazing staff. We'd definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a laid-back, upscale getaway in St. Thomas.

Our flights routed through Atlanta to St. Thomas, as there are no flights to St. John; you get to St. John via ferries from St. Thomas or St. Croix, USVI, or from the British Virgin Islands. The need to route through St. Thomas, coupled with the wonderful visit we enjoyed in 2021, led us to intentionally stay one overnight at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove, and we had a great time and enjoyed one a most beautiful sunset, from the floating mat at the beach. This trip we enjoyed: - an afternoon in the beach, complete with mai tais! - Dinner next door... Luna Mar at the Westin (there is a third Marriott property on the other side of the Westin; two hotels and Frenchman's cove is MVCI) - Morning snorkeling - Breakfast at the pool bar before checking our - Fantastic views from the beach and from our room - Great courtesy by the staff For more about the property, which one of our favorite MVCI properties, the rooms, and more, please see the 2021 review, below. - - - The property - - - Frenchman's Cove is built on a hillside, you arrive at the main desk at a the top of the hill; there are buildings at that level; the other buildings are built lower down the hill, and the property has its own beach. Each building had four or five floors and all have wonderful views. The buildings are colorfully painted, and look great, especially when you're in the water looking back at the shore. - - - The room - - - The rooms are standard MVCI / Marriott Vacation Club rooms: - 2 bedrooms, one king and two full sized beds - 2 bathrooms - Laundry - Kitchens with servings for 8 and all the utensils you need; refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave and coffee machine.. with coffee available; just ask housekeeping for more - Patio table and chairs with a view - Note: if you leave the patio table unattended, you my return to find seagulls arrived and are some of your bacon while you were bringing out the rest of breakfast... :) - nice! Recommendation: bring a Bluetooth speaker for music. - - - The beach & Sunset Cove Bar & Grill - - - This trip we checked and quickly made our way to the beach; the day was sunny and nice and warm but not hot. The resort has a couple large floating mars that are anchored; several adults can lazily get some sun while socializing. We also had a snack at "the pool bar," Sunset Cove Bar & Grill... which offers a good selection of good for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacking in between. We enjoyed: - afternoon snack - hummus and carrots & celery; and very good mai tais - breakfast the next morning We enjoyed laying on the big mats floating in the water... you get a tan and stay wet while enjoying the outside. The night we were there, we enjoyed an absolutely beautiful sunset from the floating mat... so nice! The room has a kitchen, but since we stayed only one night, there was less of a need for groceries... so... in the morning, we had a breakfast at the Sunset Cove Bar & Grill - it was a wonderful breakfast of steak and eggs and OJ... with a wonderful view of the beach. - - - MarketPlace - gift shop and mini grocery store - - - The MarketPlace staff is friendly and helpful; they offer pastries, yogurt and other breakfast food, spices and other good for dinners and lunch and a variety of bottles of drinks, many from around the Caribbean. They also offer sunscreen and other items for the outside; and souvenirs - shirts, hats, more. - - - The surf, the lack of on St. Thomas and St. John - - - We have been blessed to visit the Caribbean a couple times and have noticed that there is not much surf, not many waves. On an early trip someone explained that the Caribbean is just at a position in the ocean where the tides are just not very noticeable; brief internet searches suggest the tide only varies from a few inches to a foot or so... such small changes don't lead to many waves. You'll likely see and enjoy hearing waves "lapping at the shore," but you're not likely to do much body surfing... if you have a boogie board, you'll likely be better off leaving it at home. - - - Thank you, Frenchman's Cove staff! - - - ----- ----- -----

Ours was so bad we had to switch rooms not to mention the hot water in the shower not working. We let the host know and they said they would send someone up to look while we went to have dinner at sugar fin, which was long but we didn't mind. Once we got back they still hadn't had anyone look at it so we suffered one night and got moved to a new room the next morning. The AC goes to 65 but it will only get done to 74 if you are lucky. So be warned. Second) we got late check out for 1pm but we were bombard at 11am over and over again until 1pm. It was ridiculous! Took us twice as long to get out because we had to keep answering the door. Lastly three) me and my mother had a cabana by the spa pool and a spa treatment. These were short treatments but with them you get access to the spa amenities. I was shown the lounge room but nothing else, but my mother who went before me was shown nothing. She didn't even know that it was an option for here to use. These should be shown to everyone. The professionalism there is lacking. Overall the bars and restaurants were great, sometimes you do have to wait but you are on island time so it's not a huge dealbreaker for me at all. Everyone is very nice and friendly even when we needed help. Just keep in mind it is HOT and this may not be worth the price they make you pay.

Also, they've got this incredible on-site restaurant, Island View Steakhouse. Chef Marshall Bishop heads it up and trust me, the man's a genius. We unfortunately only dined there one night since we wanted to hit up all of the other "good" restaurants on the island and regret not having another dinner there. Every last thing about our meals, from appetizers to dessert, blew us away. Those meals were hands down the best we had on the island, and I think we knew it that night. Always had a spot at the pool. We sat at the bar most of the time without a problem. Every staff member we met was so nice and friendly (007 is a total gem!!!) - please do not listen to the negative reviews!!! Pelicans were super fun to watch. We couldn't stop raving about this place every minute to one another. I was there this Saturday when they had an issue with their water. I want to say - I have never seen a place go above and beyond to make sure the guests were taken care of. I'm sure you all were freaking out but you did so good at mitigating a terrible situation!!! My best friend and I didn't even realize something was wrong till it came to dinner time. We got to our room with a gallon of water and multiple water bottles waiting for us. Dinner was a buffet (really great spread). The only really "problem" was it was our last night and we were really hoping to get more of the bang bang shrimp tacos (which are to die for!!). Guess we will have to come back for them. Only real "complaint" - the rooster could be a little quieter...it is vacation spot dude lol but nothing a sound machine couldn't muffle.
