    - - - June, 2025 Visit…read more- - - Summary: - great staff and property - Nice rooms - Great pool, with food and drink options at the pool bar - Beautiful beach, with sea hammocks (better than a raft), kayaks and more - On-site Marketplace with food made there - pizzas, sandwiches (and I think some breakfast food, too) - Grocery store - Dolphin Market (Chocolate Hole location) less than 5 minute walk from lobby, less than 10 minutes from furthest room - Two on-site restaurants - Disc golf, tennis and more - Internet/wifi - - - The Property - - - The Westin St. John is located on Great Cruz Bay, with most of the rooms, and the pool, located close to the water; three buildings to each side of the central pool. The property extends away from the water up a hillside, and there are some there rooms / buildings there, too; it appears they may have a bit of a different view with their slightly higher elevation (30-50 feet above, approx). The lobby, MVCI tour, workout room, and Mango Deli are in a building in between the two groups of rooms. The arrival Taxi will drop you at the lobby. The departure taxis have a pickup space next to the lobby, up a few stairs; if stairs are a challenge, they can meet you at the bottom. - - - Getting there - - - There is no airport on St. John; arrival is by sea, by ferry or another boat. Most guests will arrive via St. Thomas; ferries are also available from St. Croix (USVI) and the British Virgin Islands. There are two ferry options, both from the same dock at Red Hook on the east side of St. Thomas): 1. Westin ferry... arrives at the Westin's dock... disembark and walk to check-in... cost multiple times more than public ferry 2. Virgin Island Ferry / Public ferry... multiple departure locations to get to STJ; arrives one bay to north of the Westin; about than a mile away, in as the crow flies; 5-10 min drive... taxis available at dock throughout the day... $6-$12 per person per way... even with taxi will be much less expensive option; remember tip money for the ferry crew who handles your bags for you Both ferries offer Charlotte-Amalie to St. John routes, seasonal. - - - Check-in - - - Welcoming! Shania sped us to our room. We were here for our anniversary; when we arrived to the room, the bellhop presented us with a bottle of wine - so nice. Thank you, Shania! The room was also fantastic, with an ocean view of Great Cruz Bay - so peaceful and relaxing. - - - The Room - - - This is our first visit to a Westin vacation club; lone noticeable difference compared to a Marriott vacation club... most MVCI have kitchens... is that the Westin kitchen only has a two-burner stove and no oven; place settings for 6. The living room is a little smaller than elsewhere and not cramped. Otherwise the rest is standard MVCI: - 2 bedrooms, one king and two full sized beds- 2 bathrooms- Laundry- Kitchens with servings for 6 and all the utensils you need; refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave and coffee machine.. with coffee available; just ask housekeeping for more / anything else- Patio table and chairs with a viewRecommendation: bring a Bluetooth speaker for music. - - - Food, groceries - - - Mango deli offers a good selection of food, and also souvenirs. They will make pizza, sandwiches, and even breakfast food for you. Otherwise it's a good selection; more than a typical MarketPlace, and not quite as much as a grocery; you could readily shop here for most of your needs and not need a grocery during a week's visit. The Mango Deli team is friendly and helpful. - - - Food, restaurants - - - The Westin has a sit-down restaurant, Lemongrass; it looked quite nice; we just did not get a chance to dine here. Snorkels Bar & Grill, at the pool, makes great burgers & fries, and drinks. - - - The Pool - - - Nice and well-sized. Also surrounded by trees, so you can definitely get sun, and if you need shade, you can relocate into the shadow of a palm tree. The activities team hosts trivia games and more. There is a volleyball net, too. - - - The Beach - - - The Westin has a beautiful view of Great Cruz Bay! The sand is nice and soft. The activities team offers hammocks, which are like rafts, but better... a pillow for neck and feet; the rest is a mesh that suspends you just under the water, letting you get sun without drying out - nice! The activities team offers beach games, too. You can rent kayaks; there is night kayaking, too. The Surf... not so much We've been blessed to visit a few Caribbean islands and they seem similar... beauty all around; but for surf, not so much. The tides are only six inches to a foot variation, which does not lead to many waves. You'll surely enjoy relaxing to the sounds of the water lapping at the shore. But for boogie boards, leave yours at home. - - - Thank you! - - - Thank you to Shania and all the team at the Westin St. John for being so welcoming! See you soon. ----- ----- -----

We are currently staying at The Westin St. John Resort Villas and unfortunately this has been one…read moreof the most disappointing resort experiences we have ever had. The most serious issue involved billing. We paid for our stay in full, yet the hotel continued manually entering additional nightly charges onto our American Express card. We only discovered the issue after AMEX notified us that our card had been maxed out and future transactions would be declined. When we reviewed the account, there were multiple pending charges from the hotel that we did not make or authorize. The hotel later stated they were changing us a nightly hotel rate of 700-1,000 even though we had paid our room in full prior to checkin. Because of these repeated charges, we temporarily lost access to our primary credit card while traveling with our child. What was most upsetting was the response from management. The manager was largely nonchalant about the situation and offered only a brief apology despite the significant financial stress this caused our family. No meaningful compensation, assistance, or urgency was offered even after explaining that we now had concerns about being able to pay for necessities during our trip. This property is categorized as a four-star resort, but based on our experience, it does not meet four-star standards in terms of accommodations, maintenance, dining, or service. Our villa had: * stains on the couches, * holes in the bathroom wall, * broken tile, * a broken TV remote, * Stains on the walls and cracks on them, * water stains and mold on the ceiling, * Dust throughout the villa- in walls, doors and night stands * Peanuts, candy and hair ties on the floor at check in. * We asked for coffee filters at 7 am and they stated there wasn't anyone available until 8 and I informed them I could come pick them up. No response. At 9:54 they brought us coffee filters. The overall property also feels run down. Parts of the pool area appear to be deteriorating, and the atmosphere has changed significantly from what you would expect from a resort in this category. Service was also inconsistent. While a few staff members were genuinely kind and helpful, many others appeared visibly disgruntled, unhappy in their jobs, and uninterested in providing hospitality-level service. The difference in energy compared to what you would expect at a four-star resort was very noticeable. Golf carts also speed aggressively throughout the property, which feels unsafe especially for families with children walking around. Dining options were extremely limited. At night there is essentially only one restaurant option (lemongrass), and during the day there is snorkeling poolside restaurant and the mangos snack bar is open. The food overall was mediocre at best (yet you pay significantly more than any restaurant in the area) and nowhere near the standard expected for the cost of staying here. The natural beauty of St. John is still incredible, but sadly this resort no longer reflects the quality, service, or experience its pricing and four-star designation suggest.

We were treated like royalty by everyone we came into contact with. We came for dinner and we're concerned that we would be ready to go back before the Ferry was ready to take us. Dinner was 5 to 8 PM. We ended with about an hour to spare, but there were so many beautiful spots to explore and yard games, such as life-size chess, cornhole, tic-tac-toe, among others. My husband and I enjoyed after dinner drinks while our two kids let off some wiggles. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the tuna and the filet mignon. They had a great children's menu as well. The artisan breads were yummy and the homemade ice cream for dessert finished off a beautiful evening. After dinner, we got cozy on some bean bags near the beach area and just couldn't get over how beautiful the surroundings were. It's perfectly lit at night, music is just the right vibe and volume, you can hear the waves gently lapping the shores. It was definitely the highlight to our 10 day trip here. It IS pricey. It's MORE than worth it. Just go!

Denise explained all features of the magnificent hilltop villa, gave us tourist information, showed us highlights on a map, and made us feel welcome. The return trip was equally expertly arranged. We finally made our trip the first week of the opening of the USVI in September. The Property, Cinnamon was better than presented on their site. Great location near Cruz Bay and a well-equipped property with chairs and floats. We walked to town daily. We stayed in the Drupe room, which I highly recommend for the one-bedroom layout and view. Our issue arose when we had to unexpectedly extend our stay due to international conflict that grounded flights (Venezuela). Many travelers on the island, including us, had no other lodging options. Despite never leaving the property or our room, we were told we had to book a minimum five-day extension, rather than extending day by day while waiting on flights. Of the five extra nights we were required to book, we only stayed three in order to return to our children and jobs as soon as flights resumed. We requested a refund for the two unused nights. We also met another couple at the pool who had been allowed to extend their stay by just one day two days earlier, which made the policy feel inconsistently applied. After multiple emails and texts, we were issued a one-day credit to be used within the year, which was not realistic. A simple goodwill refund would have earned a five-star review and strong recommendations. Unfortunately, we left feeling taken advantage of during a stressful situation. Anticipating this - they then wrote the following ranking as a guest. We are very clean people, only asked for towels (because we received NO room service for 10 days) - and exchanged those towels accordingly. This is unacceptable and I expect a higher caliber of service and expectation. We would have STILL returned after this given we loved the property and during our stay we were treated great, but seeing how they ranked me and impacting my future ability to book VRBOs with confidence with others the respect is lost.

The rooms were clean and AC worked great. There is a laundry room available to use as well as a pool & hot tub for guests. It has its own beach front access & lounge chairs available to use free. Our favorite place was Rico's bar located next to the pool. He gave us the best recommendations and we had such a great time hanging at the bar with him. Definitely stop by for a drink at Rico's bar! Personally I wish it was located closer to the main road but we had a rental car so it wasn't a big deal. We stayed on the 3rd floor bldg Y. Our room had a fridge.

We were allowed to check in 2 hours early, so that was a plus. The lobby is small but has cold water, a small lounge, a bathroom and an ATM. But no concierge (front desk person: "I don't know where she is--I haven't seen her in a long time.")--so had to figure out everything ourselves. They had a concierge contact us from one of their sister properties but she never texted back when I asked about a time to connect. Only one restaurant was open on Sunday when we arrived so we were barely in time to order before they closed. The dive shop was supposed to be open but was not. Even though we were advertised a late check-out, we only got 30 more minutes so stored our bags and went into town as they did not have guest showers on property to be able to enjoy the beach after we checked out. The room was nice, clean, and spacious for a studio king. The kitchenette had a blender, toaster, coffeemaker, small fridge, and cups/plates/silverware etc. Bathroom had towels, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, and lotion. Room had a safe. There was a dresser and end tables and a small table and chairs inside. On the balcony, there was a table and chairs and one chaise lounge chair. Each room has its own air conditioner. The property is built into a hill but relatively easily accessible (not ADA accessible but not crazy) despite the stairs. The grounds were well-maintained and the pool was a decent size and clean. At first I was not impressed with the beach because it was a bit rocky especially on one side and had lots of boats on the bay, but after touring four other properties on the island, I realized ours was the best we had seen. The lounge chairs are adequate and towels are provided both in your room and at the front desk. The shore is dotted with trees for natural shade if you want it. The water is clear but a bit rocky. The dive shop offers snorkels, boat rentals (kayaks, SUPs, and paddle boats), sand toys, sundries like sunscreen and tampons, and gear like hats and shirts and waterproof bags. They also offer snorkeling excursions departing from other nearby properties. Shout out to the attendant working the shop this week--he gave us great recommendations. No market or store on property--go into Red Hook (small nearby town) to the shops. Also, warning, you can't go to the glamorous property next door even to have lunch as they do not allow visitors on property. The two restaurants onsite were fine for our needs. One is pizza and sandwiches (Sangria's) and the other is more upscale (Caribbean Fish Market). But definitely recommend going into Red Hook to enjoy the local cuisine! I would recommend this hotel for a less expensive option than many competitors, especially if your party wants to go out and explore and do activities. The beach was the best we saw on the East End, and being close to Red Hook was a real plus. There are lots of options to take a boat road or the ferry to St. John and it's a pretty quick ride. If you want an immersive, pampered experience, this place isn't likely for you. But this is a good home base to enjoy all that USVI has to offer.
