Very disappointed... bug infested bed. After my wife and I woke up each morning with tons of bug bits, we asked the office to please change bedding, but that didn't happen. We also brought it up to staff each day and they didn't really care or make it any kind of concern. We also had a manager look over room before we checked out and he made me feel like I was just a complainer and made many excuses. My research 4 Signs Your Hotel Is Infested By Bed Bugs: 1. Blood spots on mattresses, pillows, and sheets...YES I found 2. A stale smell ...YES it did smell stale/moldy 3. Live bed bugs YES I found some. 4. Spent 9 nights here on our annual trip to STJ and had a great time. This resort is in a great location and just a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Cruz Bay. They have a pool, restaurant/bar, and their own access to the bay for swimming/snorkeling. We stayed in an "Upper" unit which meant our bedroom was in a loft setup and included an additional half bath. This was very nice to have so you didn't have to go downstairs just to use the restroom. The kitchen was well equipped although the fridge struggled a bit. When we called for maintenance they quickly brought and ice chest to hold our perishable items till they got it fixed (nice!). Overall we had a great time and would likely stay again although I'm not running back here. Too many other options in town to try. I would invest in new mattresses if the management is reading this. I cannot express how wonderful our stay was at Gallows Point. The front desk staff was phenomenal. They were courteous and extremely helpful. We did not have a car and took taxis each day to the best beaches, which the front desk staff helped arrange. The property grounds were pristine. It seemed every condo here has a water view. We loved our patio. The location cannot be beat. It's close to town. My husband and I were able to walk to every restaurant and to the grocery store. The property is extremely quiet both day and night. A nice surprise was our condo appeared to have been recently renovated and did not reflect some of the current photos they have online. The condo was very spacious and clean. It's great to have a full living room, dining room, and kitchen. We were here during COVID and they took extra safety measures. read more

If you want to stay at an incredible resort on the water walking distance away to everything in Cruz Bay, while having a good pool, workout room, and snorkel area right in front of your condo, stay here. Cruz Bay is directly facing St Thomas and in every waterfront Restraunt in Cruz Bay and most condos at Gallows Point you can see the beautiful sunsets. Lovango is at the bottom of the short hill to Cruz Bay and is a great restaurant, right across the street is The Beach Bar with incredible drinks and atmosphere, and shortly away from that there is High Tide (favorite) which is phenomenal everything from food to atmosphere to service. The pool and workout room as well as hot tub and lounge area is everything you can want and the snorkeling is as good, even better than anywhere we drove to or boated to which includes Maho, Honeymoon, Waterlemon, Cinnamon, Trunk, Coral, and Caneel Bay (in that order). In front of Gallows Point, we saw two nurse sharks, Barracuda, coral, schools of fish and the floating dock out in the water is fun to jump off. The only marine life we didn't see was sea turtles, but no worries because if you want to see plenty of those go to Honeymoon or Maho Bay. We found the famous Trunk Bay to be incredibly underwhelming, but maybe it was just an off day (it was very windy). Tip: If it is windy at Trunk Bay, drive to Coral and do the number one recommended hike and snorkel on the same beach because if it is windy on one side, it won't be on the other side. This resort is everything you can want and need in St John and Cruz Bay is where you want to stay if you want to be close to everything while still having excellent snorkeling right out in front of you. About half the units are owned by Gallows Point and half the units are owned independently while still maintained by Gallows and the independent owners of our units were so helpful and kind. Could not recommend this trip more and we even came the week of Christmas which is one of the busiest times of year. Overall an incredible experience here and will definitely look forward to coming back because I can assure you this is the only place I will be staying. read more

My husband and I came to this resort for his birthday and our anniversary . When we arrived the ac was not on and the room was 91 degrees . It took a little bit to cool . We assumed ocean front meant there was a private beach to lay out on but there was not . The rooms were clean but need updating .They call themselves a resort but have no resort like amenities . The pool closes at 8 pm . No services during the day at the pool such as beverage or snack options as most resorts have . There is no gym and no spa services available . The original desk staff on entering was nice but the rest Were disinterested and would have preferred not to be bothered . We did go to a beach but you have to rent a Jeep to get there @$ 75 a day . On a poSitjve note it is walking distance to town and shops . read more

We stayed here for our spring break and we stayed here for 5 nights. This place is great. Location Location Location. 2 minutes from the ferry. You can walk to Cruz bay and get what you want. The condos are great. The views are amazing. Felt safe the whole time. The workers were great. Maid service cleaned our rooms every day. The restaurant on sight was the best food we had on the island (expensive). Convenience store on the grounds certainly made life easier when we needed something. I would stay here anytime. This place is a winner. We were a little worried about the noise from Cruz bay after reading some reviews but we didn't hear a thing. Both our kids (11-13) loved it here as well. This is as good as it gets. Located next to Cruz Bay on St. John's, in the US Virgin Islands, this resort is utterly quiet, utterly gorgeous, and located a short walk from some of the most rewarding morning, afternoon, evening, and night life on the planet. Charming resort right next to Cruz Bay in St. John. The staff here was very friendly and made sure our stay was top notch. The grounds were clean with all sorts of animals roaming. My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights. It was our first time on the islands, and I wanted an ocean view. I did a lot of research and this resort was very highly rated. When we arrived our shuttle wasn't there so I had to call. When we got to our villa it was so hot (I think they didn't turn the air on until the shuttle left to pick us up). Luckily it cooled off in an hour or so and stayed cool for the duration of our stay. The view was exactly what I wanted. It was beautiful and perfect for watching the sunset. The patio would get unbearably hot at midday and was unusable for several hours. The rest of the villa was cosy, but in need of updating. Our bed was large and quite comfortable. I had trouble sleeping, however for several reasons. First, the villas are set up like duplexes. You share a wall with your neighbor. The first night I woke at 9 pm because the neighbors were being very noisy. This never happened again, but the toilet upstairs would make this sloshing, gurgling, flushing noise every 30 min or so and it would wake me up multiple times. It was bizarre. Our water got shut off two times while we stayed here. We had to call and wait for it to be turned back on. There was a store on site that was a lifesaver. The on site restaurant was way too pricey for the quality. The location of the resort was wonderful. It was a short walk to the bay and it's shopping, restaurants, and beach. The staff were friendly and the housekeeping was superb. Unfortunately there was no direct beach access from our villa. It was rocky and had no sand. We paid a lot of money to stay here and the quality was lacking. The final straw that made up our minds not to return here or to recommend to others was that we overhead that a couple of guests had been forced to leave early because the owner of the villa had returned and wanted to stay there. This had not been divulged at any point, not on the website, not during booking, not over the phone, and not during check in. Luckily this did not happen to us but it is a risk that we are not willing to take. read more

Just an awesome place. Easy walking into Cruz Bay (trust me you dont want to try and park in town). Rooms are good size and ours was decorated/updated nicely. Harbor side rooms get free entertainment at night with the music from Beach Bar, but not so loud that it will disturb you inside. Rooms cleaned every other day, that fit us just fine. All the staff were very nice. Resort amenities that put this place over the top: awesome wifi signal, water side pool, swim platform, and really good snorkeling right there. They provide beach chairs and coolers if you want to drive over to other beaches. Onsite restaurant for dinner ($$$$) and also a little coffee shop and store. read more

Rooms are nice. Always stayed at Caneel Bay or the Westin before and honestly preferred these accommodations. Location is great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Really good with kids because there is room to spread out, and a small pool. The store is convenient, but don't brave the morning muffins, etc. Yuk. We were supposed to be on a sailboat for the week, but the charter boat's condition was awful. Luckily, we were able to get a room here on very short notice or we would have been very unhappy campers. read more

Just back from a week in St John staying at Gallows Point. We've not been to the island in many years having stayed at the Westin the last time. We're glad we picked Gallows point so several reasons. Location for food: To be able to walk to town in 5 minutes is awesome. Since Cruz Bay has a lot of places to go to dinner, it made checking out spots super easy. (We did eat on site and it was really great ) Location to swim: They have a new pool that is to die for, heated and salt water. You may never get out of it. Unless you go down just a few steps to go snorkeling, which was as good as any of the places we went to during out week. The beach lost a lot of sand, but who cares, you're 10 steps away from your room. The staff were great, the room was clean. read more

This was one of my favorite vacations and worth every penny! I loved being able to jump in the ocean or take a short stroll the pool which also sits Oceanside and has gorgeous views! Our unit was very comfortable. The AC worked great, the water was hot, water pressure was good, appliances, etc.... Perfection! We did not eat at the on site restaurant simply because there were so many other places to try. We never had a bad meal anywhere in Cruz Bay. I also really loved the local Beach Bar - That's the name....Beach Bar. The food there was good, the drinks were good, and the music was great. Another good spot with good guitar music was the Cruz Bay Landing. The food there was alright. We mostly listened to music and had drinks. We also visited Coral Bay, but it's too low key for me. St. John's is definitely a worthy trip and if you want entertainment and a fabulous place to stay - book the Gallows Point Resort. read more

Stayed at Gallows Point for a weekend getaway and it was lovely. Individual Villas lined a very lush resort, with plants lining the paths. The pool had a lovely view of the beach below. My husband and I were at Gallows point last month for our honeymoon and absolutely loved every second of our stay! Staff was extremely attentive, the maids did a great job! Even if we left the room for one hour for breakfast we would return to a clean, fully stocked villa. The location is prime, everything is walkable which is fantastic. I would say the only downside is how rocky the grounds are so it isn't exactly "beach able". We will be back-- hopefully sooner than later!!!!! read more

You really couldn't ask for a better location in Cruz Bay than Gallow's Point Resort! You're a 5 minute walk from everything in town, and still right on the water. The convenience of having a fully stocked kitchen was great, and the condo was spacious and up to date! The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained. We even tried the on site restaurant, ZoZo's, and it was great as well! (although a bit pricey) If you book here, let it be known that Units 1-8 are on the beach, while the rest face the bay. read more

We stayed here last fourth of July. I'm just now getting around to finally reviewing.. I'm lazy, I know. This place is AMAZING! Best hotel on the island. Had the hotel taxi waiting for us when we got off ferry. Driver was very nice, even hauled our luggage to our suite. We stayed in the ocean view upper. Most Gorgeous views ever. So neat to watch the iguanas eating in the trees from our balcony. Room was great, Downstairs had a kitchen so you can make breakfast one morning if you want, which is what we did. Bought some breakfast stuff at the little shop on site. You can buy eggs by the each which is super convenient. Upstairs had a gorgeous view of the ocean as well. You can snorkel right off of the resort. So pretty. Staff was always nice and accommodating. We watched fireworks from the picnic area, literally could feel them in your face. Was A-Mazing! Restaurant that is located upstairs from the office was wonderful. The hotel isn't too far from the downtown area either. Just a walk down the hill and around a bend. We will definitely stay there again! read more

Had an amazing stay here. EVERYTHING was perfect. The views were amazing, the room spacious, clean, and cozy. The kitchen was stocked and had new appliances (food shopping in STT for the win). The bathroom was gorgeous with a massive shower. The living room was open and comfortable. The pool and hot tub had great views (though really, you're on STJ, you should be out at a beach somewhere). Oh and the topper was that it was a quick and easy walk into Cruz Bay for dinner at night, no drive required. All in all, this place trumps the Westin in every way and we are SO staying here again. We must have done a poor research job in advance, because we were blown away by this place upon actually stepping foot in it: These are suites, small villas with a kitchen, living room, patio, and a huge bathroom. Comfort is jacked up to the max, and it seems like every unit has some sort of killer water view. Each place is super clean, the sleep is great, the AC is modern, and aesthetic is gorgeous, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The only downside is no room service, but other than that, choose here to stay. read more

We stayed here on our honeymoon in the beginning of October 2013. Pros: -beautiful condo -stunning views -nice snorkeling right outside the resort -the gifts and gourmet shop on property that will book excursions for you -friendly staff -proximity to downtown Cruz Bay and the beach bars -cute kittens running around on property Cons: -we went in the off season which we loved for many reasons, however the restaurant Zozo's was closed as they are moving to Caneel Bay. So unfortunately there was no restaurant or bar on property. Not such a big deal as we spent most of our time at the beach bars on the harbor. -laundry facilities - need new machines :) -if you book a harbor view room (which we loved!) be aware that the ferry is very loud and runs late, plus the beach bars are open late and on the weekends loud music playing. I am right now sitting in a gallows point harbor side unit to the tune of about $600 a night...it is about 8 pm... And, like every night I have been here, I have to endure THE LOUD LOUD PA BLASTED MUSIC FROM THE BARS ON CRUZ BAY.. $600 a night to be in a college dorm... It is abject bullshit to pay that kind of heat to be basically in a dorm w ridiculous noise from bars. If you are an owner reading this, not only should u be ashamed, I hope it scares the piss out of u to know people won't blindly fork over TONS of cash for this shit.... $600 A night to not even hear the TV in unit due to racket from bars!!¡! As the ferry was pulling into Cruz Bay, we were really impressed to see Gallows Point taxi waiting for our arrival. The representative from the resort was very nice and helpful. He loaded our luggage into the 'open air' taxi and we were on our way to the resort. After our 3 minute taxi ride, we were greeted by other resort reps and also given a very delicious Rum Punch cocktail, of course made with the Caribbeans' famous Cruzan Rum. Check-in took all about 2 minutes and we were off to our room. We reserved an 'Upper Harbor View' room (Unit 13C) and it was fantastic! Full size kitchen, dining area, awesome balcony with gorgeous harbor views, living area, 2 TVs with satellite, upstairs loft bedroom with king size bed and two bathrooms. Maid service was awesome and cleaned our villa everyday no matter what time we left the premises. The grounds are beautifully groomed and you'll find your occasional lizard and cat from time to time. The pool was nice, but barely ever used it! There was great snorkeling just off the point, some of the best that we had that weekend! The little general store, Every Ting, was great. The staff was very helpful with all of our needs! They do just about everything (now I know where they get the name) you would ever need on St. John, from restaurant reservations to gear rental. Every Ting is truly an asset to this resort! The restaurant on site, Zozo's, was excellent. The service was amazing and the food was very flavorful. We both had the Caribbean Lobster entrée and would definitely order it again! There are also other restaurants within walking distances that make the resort very convenient. We had a rental Jeep, but usually walked to the Cruz Bay village. All in all, this was an amazing five-day vacation! We would definitely come back again, and refer Gallows Point to all of our family and friends! Thank you for an incredible time! read more

ONLY DOWNSIDE TO LOCATION WAS ... the hotel property itself was neighbors with a cemetery.. we were definetly put off by this but it did not deter us in any way. TIPS TO USE IN HOTEL ROOM - towels left on ground will be replaced with fresh and clean ones, while ones hung mean they are clean and DO NOT need to be replaced - There is no oven so I suggest if you decide to grocery shop there to cook meals at home do not buy anything that needs an oven, but I DO suggest buying groceries because it saves you a ton of money in the end * hotel has a gift/ activity shop on site that is open from 8 a.m till 8 p.m and it was a life saver! They have eggs, bacon, orange juice champagne, jewelry, maps etc ALSO HAS AN AMAZINGLY HELPFUL AND KIND STAFF!!!!!! * Most of the people who worked on the hotel were absolutely some of the friendliest people you will meet, although something that put a bummer on our trip was one front desk employee herself. First encounter we had with her was we were going to go to the hotels on site restaurant one night and once we arrived the doors were shut. We then went down to the front desk to ask the girl working if it was open and her only response was "no it is not open tonight" in a very muttered tone. We were very upset but didn't bother arguing with her because it wasn't worth the time and effort. * CONS * The next day, we decided to hike to reef bay. When we went to the front desk to ask them if they could call us a Taxi they instead told us that we should NOT go to the reef bay trail because it was basically labor intensive on the way back. She did not call us a taxi, so we went to the gift/ activities shop and she was able to arrange one to us! She was so helpful!!! We arrived , hiked , and sweated too much! Once we got to the top of the trail we tried calling taxis but all the drivers I called weren't on the island so I called our hotel to ask them to call a taxi for us and ONCE AGAIN they told us that no taxi driver will drive all the way out to us and to just wait for the bus. That was very upsetting for us. We are two teens foreign to this island in the middle of nowhere and a TAXI DRIVER refused to pick us up. We ended up waiting 20-30 mins for the bus. While we were waiting a lady had driven past us and asked if we needed a ride! Very, very, very sweet locals and tourists around the island! A side note( the workers in the activity/ gift shops called several taxi drivers asking them to pick us up while the front desk of the hotel just blatantly said no) *IMPORTANT* do not let this one con stop you from going there it is just useful as information * POOL WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.. when booking our trip through trip advisor it did NOT notify us that their pool was being under construction. We did not find out until we checked their website a couple days before going seeing it said they were doing construction. In the beginning this was very frustrating but they give out guest passes to Grande Bay Resort so you can use their hotels pool. This was a smart and simple fix on their behalf. OVERALL this was an amazing hotel to stay at, lovely and sweet grounds workers and shop employees just some rude front desk workers. Gift shop on site was BEYOND USEFUL! In the end it's all about to employees there and 98% of their employees were amazing and REALLY CARED about you having a good visit. RATING the only reason I could not give a 5 star rating was because of the 2 front desk workers... it was a shame because until those 2 instances happened we were so excited to give this place a 5 star review ! read more

Gallows Point is a phenomenal place to stay! The views are incredible, both on the Ocean and Bay views. The pool and surrounding landscape is amazing, including at night, with track lighting surrounding the railings. You can enjoy hammocks, leisure chairs with and without shade cover, and access to some of the best snorkeling on island! The residences are all kept very clean and tidy, and the housekeeping staff immediately attends to any needs you may have. The onsite gift shop has virtually everything one would need, from clothes, memorabilia, food, drinks, and more. The staff is always incredible and attentive, offering to make reservations at local restaurants so you don't have to interrupt your leisure time. In particular, Gideon was amazing with picking us up at the dock of the Ferry, getting our bags down to our room by the time we were checked in. Max was helpful throughout the week, offering to help unload cars, and checking on people throughout the day. The security staff was incredibly thorough, always knowing who should be on the property and where..thanks Mano and Travis! Finally, Claudia was the best!! She attended to any need quickly, made reservations to hard to get into restuarants with no problem, was very courteous and knowledgeable about the whole island, and definitely made us feel at home. My husband and I stayed at Gallows Point in March of 2016 for 10 days. We had a great stay and very much looked forward to returning. The rates were a bit higher than other 1 bedroom units in the same Cruz Bay area but we thought the setting was worth it. We've returned to St. John since but with a larger group so we needed a bigger unit. This time around we'll be visiting the island by ourselves. I just went on to the site to book another stay. I was absolutely shocked and appalled by the rise in pricing. The price for the exact room we had in 2016 is now $150 more per night. If you look on their website you can see that they're charging $50 more this coming winter than last which tells me that they're increasing their prices at that rate every year. That's not only absurd it's obnoxious. I know they put in a new pool. That's great, but it certainly doesn't merit such insane increases. No where else on island is gouging guests like that. They're taking complete advantage of the fact that Caneel Bay and the Westin aren't open yet. Shame on the management of Gallows Point. You have a nice resort but an increase of 35% is ridiculous. We'll continue to visit our favorite place but we'll be happy to spend our money elsewhere. read more

We have always remarked on this resort as the ferry approaches St. John from St. Thomas. We decided to give it a try for the two of us on this visit and were very happy with the overall experience. The layout of the unit was comfortable, the grounds nicely landscaped and well maintained, the location on the island convenient and the staff friendly and accommodating. There is surprisingly good snorkeling to the north of the dock. ZoZo's is right upstairs and most of the great dining options on St. John are within walking distance. Our only suggestion, given the costs of staying at Gallow's Point, would be more comfortable sofas/chairs in the main living area and better TVs/electronics, particularly given how (relatively) inexpensive these items have become of late. (Since I'm being picky, I would have preferred the Starbucks over the generic coffee throughout the week). Gallow's Point is an excellent option for staying in Cruz Bay on St. John. read more
