Such a beautiful beach! The vibe is upscale casual with a nice bar/restaurant area. You can rent beach chairs here for $9.00 a day. There is snorkel gear and water sports available here for rent as well. The colors of the water will take your breath away!

Came to St Thomas with 26 friends all staying in Sapphire Village VRBOS. Some stayed waterfront and other higher up overlooking entire resort. The entire island was destroyed by a hurricane many years ago and is still being renovated. Looking past that, it really is everything you need. Rustic at times yet modernized. Our unit had a stove top, fridge, sink, comfy bed and couch with TV. Views, weather and staff were outstanding. The owners responded immediately to our minimal issues and everything went well afterwards. There are a few bars, restaurants, pizza, coffee and ice cream and marina on grounds to enjoy or bring your own food and drinksnto the beach or pool. Gas and charcoal grills available too. We shopped in town, cooked in the room and poolside also grabbed one of many cabs to town for shopping, sightseeing, libations or dining. You can do as much or little as you want. Some friends worked from their deck or beach chair while others played. Ferry to nearby islands hike, explore or just relax. Enjoy!

It's a nice clean beach with lots of lounge chairs available. They have two bars that are capable of handling large crowds if needed. Drinks are well made. He pricing seems to depend if has a mixer or not. A straight pour with soda is about $5, but if it's like a Painkiller or needs cranberry juice etc, it's $9. I had Bushwackers($9) with a shot of high spirit Cruzan on top ($4). You will like this place for its location, drinks, and food.

We absolutely loved it here. Even more stoked the condo owner was from the same state we were. We had to cancel twice due to Covid and 3rd time is a charm! So thankful the owner honored our rental. The cab service out front was accessible and easy. Just head out front and ask for one. We also rented a car we didn't have until day 2 and the included parking was great. Location was great. Staff in restaurant and store/coffee shop also great. Very happy with staying here and definitely will again. We would rent from Paula again too, she was great and her condo is beautiful, comfortable and had all we needed. We would also love to purchase our own condo here in the future. My only complaint is that the sapphire condo resort dinning area is only open until 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays, weekdays till 6pm. we didn't know that and had planned to try it but they were closed already. Luckily we had bought food and had something to cook, but note the times services here are open before you come. The coffee bar/gift shop is open until 4 as well so just be aware and luckily you can cook food in your condo:) The coffee shop in the gift shop was great, absolutely loved my coffee and I don't like coffee. Service was great. Souvenirs also great. The breakfast sandwiches were yummy, had a bagel one and English muffin one and both great. The security on premises was great too! One of the female guards helped us park and made sure we weren't on the grass and was super friendly. I also liked they checked people there by pool to make sure you were a registered guest, same with parking and entering. Just made it feel extra safe.

This was our second time staying here. It is located at Pretty Klip Point, where we had our commitment ceremony in 2012. It's a really large condo complex with several of the buildings sitting on the beach. Our room was 1st floor with a patio leading to the sand. We were able to walk to the point for our re-commitment ceremony on December 10, 2022. A lot of things changed from 2012. There is now a huge beach bar there now. Quite the step up from the folding table with igloo cooler full of the punch for rum punch drinks and to arrange to rent snorkel gear. They have a bar food menu and a really big bar to sit around. In the evenings they had entertainment until fairly late. Next to the bar, there was a new 2 story structure with more eating establishments and souvenirs as well. We did visit the fine beach dining restaurant upstairs, but that's a separate review. This was a VRBO rental and was much more reasonable than the Ritz-Carlton or Margaritaville. Hen traveling to the VI on a budget it's definitely worth looking into. It's a condo so there is a kitchen in it so you can cook some of the vacation if you want. Definitely check this place out for your visit to this Caribbean Island.

We just spent a week here (in building C, right on the beach) and loved it. The staff were always friendly and we especially liked those at The Beach Buzz (cafe at the front; see review for details) and the beach bar. The condos are nice enough but what really sets this place apart is the location (close to Red Hook which had the best restaurants we went to -- see review of Pesce Italian and XO Bistro -- and some of the higher end resorts like the Marriott and Ritz Carlton), the beautiful beach (which has beautiful clear water with great sand AND great options for snorkeling closer to the pool which is all coral), and the amazing pool. The only downside is the roosters that WILL crow at 2am but the rooms have pretty good soundproofing -- I'm a light sleeper and was only woken up a few times over the 7 days we spent there.

    Gorgeous view from our condo!

Gorgeous complex in a perfect location! Our views are amazing! Our condo is luxurious! We are so close to Red Hook that it's impossible not to have fun. The bar located by the beach is so convenient! And when they have live music the fun just keeps flowing! We will be back!! Note: I do not check-in in Yelp when I am out of town for security purposes.

Smelling garbage in the dumpsters outside our unit

"Resort"? How they call this a Resort is beyond me. No where near a resort. The pool area had trash thrown there and it looked like it was there for some time. There was a structure abandoned years ago which use to be an poolside bar. There was also another structure next to the bar literally falling apart from years of neglect. There were dumpsters in the parking lot, outside our building, where we were instructed to take our garbage. These dumpsters smelled from seaweed and garage. Next to the dumpsters were old hot water heaters and old tires. The "Resort" had one limited food option at the bar which closed early and not available for dinner. Nowhere on the property was a dinner option available. Our hot water heater was leaking. The floor was wet and very slippery. This was definitely a safety hazard. Someone did come to remove the overflowing water but the next day it was back again. There were free range chickens all over the property. At 5:00am even with the doors closed and A/C on, the chickens woke us up almost every morning at the crack of dawn. We paid $2250 for a week at this property. Way overpriced. Definitely not worth that money. I gave the property management (by the way this is a new property management company) a request for a partial refund/credit for these issues,. Tamara was rude and accused me of trying to stay for free. And told me that if I contacted my credit card company, there attorney would be notified and we would be considered to be trespassing. Really? This is how you treat people who spent $2250 at your property? The one positive thing about this place was the room. But when you go down to the Caribbean, you're not in the room all that much anyway. Do not stay here! The ONLY reason why we went back was because we stayed there on our Honeymoon 30 years ago. Wow, this property has gone so downhill. We would have left if we hadn't pre-paid for the entire week and if we could have checked into another real resort. Mid week while there, government has suspended any property from checking in new guests.

Fantastic stay at sapphire beach resort. Modern buildings, great value for the price. Walk to beach. Very close to main attractions on St Thomas. Condo rooms have A/C, modern doors and appliances. We really enjoyed our stay at Sapphire Beach resort it features a private entrance with the guard as well as the tennis courts. All of the condos are walk to beach distance. The condos feature private beaches. And the condos themselves are modern -they have well made doors and screens to keep mosquitos out and the kitchenettes have comfortable layouts. We really enjoyed our stay at the sapphire beach resort.

View from the "Off The Grid" all you can eat BBQ truck. What a great meal!!!

So relaxing so fun. Lots of free or low cost adventure. There is more expensive things to do as well, but not as expensive as you might think. We have snorkeled for at least 10 hours so far (free with condo) and we see new and wonderful things each time. Bring a real underwater camera!!! Red hook is awesome and you can safari anywhere on the island for $2 per person 7am-7pm. Get some groceries because there are no "value meals" at the condos lol. Take the safari into red hook go to the fresh market. Spend $80-90 bucks on sandwich stuff fruit and booze and only eat out when you want to. Grey goose is $20-30 a big bottle and the famous Cruzan rum is only $10-12 and is excellent! Not expensive at all compared to Philadelphia prices!!!! Oh and it's one of the most beautiful beaches ever!!! Water is as clear as a freshly cleaned pool. Our condo is super nice and all the details of a brand new remodel are here. I have seen some condos where the inside could use a refresh and they are in the middle of a property refresh so the poolside bar is closed but the pool is open and it's awesome. Also some remodeling and renovating on one of the buildings but it is not bothersome to us. Can't wait to see what everything looks like when they are done!!!

Most relaxing, laid back, and scenic vacation ever. The resort is blessed with spectacular ocean views and heart-breaking sunsets. Our condo was just steps from the beach and the gorgeous pool. All day long we watched pretty boats passing by and every morning we were greeted by the patrolling cats and impassable iguanas. TIP! Not all condos are created equal. It's critical to know whom you rent from...you can have your dream getaway (as we did) or your worst travel nightmare. My husband used www.VRBO.com and had several conversations with the owner (Peter Burke) before sending in the deposit. Bottom line do your homework. Our condo looked and felt exactly as described: newly renovated, squeaky clean, high-end steel appliances, huge flat screen TV (with Showtime and everything else under the sun), fully equipped bathroom (towels, sunscreens, soap, shampoo) and kitchen (spices, utensils, cleaning etc). We took advantage of our free daily equipment rental to enjoy snorkeling right at the beach (Sapphire Beach has one of the best snorkeling spots in St. Thomas). The staff at the resort meticulously cleaned the condo, patio and pool and combed the beach daily. We even joked that we freaked them out keep moving our pool chairs wherever we wanted and away from their "designated spot". TRANSPORTATION: As far as transportation goes we arranged with the owner to rent his truck for $30 a day (very good deal for the island). Your next best option is to rent a car at the airport...otherwise be prepared to spend hefty prices on taxis (the most profitable business on the island...). FYI you drive on the left, the roads are extremely windy and narrow and it rains daily....there are no street names and the few signs are more of a suggestion...driving to and from the resort was a daily adventure, we had a lot of fun. Amazingly we never got lost! Here is another tip, use the Skyride as your guiding landmark and you'll be OK. FOOD: There aren't many restaurants close to the resort. So we went to the local grocery (Red Hook) got fresh fish, vegetables, dairy etc and extremely low priced liquor (i.e. $10 for a bottle of Johnny Walker whiskey) and cooked at home. Nothing like having a romantic candle light dinner on your patio gazing into the sunset by the cool ocean breeze. The best time to go to Virgin Island it's in June-July and ahead of the hurricane season (duh!). You get affordable pricing (less than $200 a night), it's less crowded since most of the cruises are out and you can actually enjoy a peaceful time at the beach. The downside is some attractions and shopping may be closed. Don't worry you'll always have plenty opportunities to spend your money and have a good time.

We got in fairly early on a Saturday, got our rental car, and drove to the resort which wasn't too far from the airport (St. Thomas is small). Check-in was at 4, the guy at the gate was very clear in his directions on how to find the main office. We found it and were able to check in successfully. Then they sent someone to show us where the condo is and help us get our luggage inside. He was also filled with suggestions on places nearby and recommended a couple of activities within a 1-mile radius. We thanked him, tipped him and explored the resort. The place was clean although it could have used a general update in some parts of the condo. The huge sliding glass doors boosted a beautiful view of the ocean and the neighboring island St. Johns as well as other land formations surrounding St. Thomas. They were kind enough to leave a birthday card and a full-sized bottle of rum to welcome us. We didn't drink the rum but it was a nice gesture. The condo we stayed at were up the highest hill which could make for a challenging climb after meal times if you're dining at their on-site restaurants. You could always drive offsite to Red Hook, a town with restaurants and some night life that is conveniently located only about 5 minutes away. I loved the veranda view of the condo we stayed at. You can feel the cool breeze while you relax, take in the scenery and have something cool to sip on. A vacationers dream! There is a small kitchen, a nice living room with comfy furniture, and a queen bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit is restricted to the living room which means the bedroom is the hottest room in the condo making it hard to sleep at night sometimes. They did provide fans but it's not quite the same. If you sat on the dining room table, you're freezing to death from the air conditioning but the bedroom you would be sweating. There wasn't a nice balance of airflow. But we made do. The resort has 3 pools. One is located up the hill, maybe 3 condos and down a flight of stairs away from where we stayed. Another was by the nature trail/near Ocean 180 and the third is right above the Sun and Sea Bar. There's no gym but trust me, just go up and down the hills a couple of times a day and you'd get your fill of cardio. Of course, if that is not your jam, they do offer a ride if you call the office but only during office hours. There are taxis they can help you get as well. We did not use either of these services so I can't speak to it as we had a rental car. There are free parking for those staying at the resort and they do issue you a parking pass. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. If we ever find ourselves back here again, I would not hesitate to book this resort.

Thankfully they had noticeable security when we were there, but we didn't feel unsafe or sketched out at all, everyone was very friendly (which is something rare on the island in general). I understand that each unit is different, so I should be specific. We actually got an awesome rate on Airbnb (see: http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/92043 ) and decided to go for it. I'd been to St. Thomas before but only on a cruise so I didn't realize how ehm... "sketchy" the island is. And that's an understatement. Rented a car and did nothing but get lost and get stuck driving on tiny winding terrifying streets in the ghetto for the first day. After that though, we were very glad we got it, there's plenty of parking everywhere you go, though you might pay a few bucks for it. With that said, we got 40% off with a Hertz coupon, so it was cheap. We also figured we'd find our own food to cook on the grill (big mistake). Markets are small and uncommon except Cost U Less (or something like that) down the street. Do yourself a favor and have the nice folks at P & P do your shopping. And when your bill is expensive, they're not ripping you off, bacon really is like $10. In any case, the private pool is awesome and it's very private so you can swim and tan nude all you want. Air conditioning works awesome, wi-fi was currently being installed while we were here, continental breakfast was decent, memory foam bed was SO COMFORTABLE, and the indoor/outdoor shower was straight up awesome. The bar has an awesome happy hour too but Red Hook (the better part of the island if you ask me) is right down the street as are two beautiful beaches. The only thing that will annoy you (probably anywhere on the island) is the constant cock-a-doodle-doo-ing of the native roosters. Other than that, get yourself a giant bottle of rum, a case of coke, and relax like we did and you'll be all set.

The owners were always around, and always available by text for the best experience. I've seen a few reviews about no hot water, this isn't true, it just takes a few minutes to warm up. So don't listen to those. I saved the best for last. THE BREAKFAST. HOLY COW. It's home made, fresh, and SO delicious. It was SO worth it for this every morning on their balcony over looking Red Hook Bay. We loved our experience here. Highly recommend.

The rooms were clean and AC worked great. There is a laundry room available to use as well as a pool & hot tub for guests. It has its own beach front access & lounge chairs available to use free. Our favorite place was Rico's bar located next to the pool. He gave us the best recommendations and we had such a great time hanging at the bar with him. Definitely stop by for a drink at Rico's bar! Personally I wish it was located closer to the main road but we had a rental car so it wasn't a big deal. We stayed on the 3rd floor bldg Y. Our room had a fridge.

We were allowed to check in 2 hours early, so that was a plus. The lobby is small but has cold water, a small lounge, a bathroom and an ATM. But no concierge (front desk person: "I don't know where she is--I haven't seen her in a long time.")--so had to figure out everything ourselves. They had a concierge contact us from one of their sister properties but she never texted back when I asked about a time to connect. Only one restaurant was open on Sunday when we arrived so we were barely in time to order before they closed. The dive shop was supposed to be open but was not. Even though we were advertised a late check-out, we only got 30 more minutes so stored our bags and went into town as they did not have guest showers on property to be able to enjoy the beach after we checked out. The room was nice, clean, and spacious for a studio king. The kitchenette had a blender, toaster, coffeemaker, small fridge, and cups/plates/silverware etc. Bathroom had towels, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, and lotion. Room had a safe. There was a dresser and end tables and a small table and chairs inside. On the balcony, there was a table and chairs and one chaise lounge chair. Each room has its own air conditioner. The property is built into a hill but relatively easily accessible (not ADA accessible but not crazy) despite the stairs. The grounds were well-maintained and the pool was a decent size and clean. At first I was not impressed with the beach because it was a bit rocky especially on one side and had lots of boats on the bay, but after touring four other properties on the island, I realized ours was the best we had seen. The lounge chairs are adequate and towels are provided both in your room and at the front desk. The shore is dotted with trees for natural shade if you want it. The water is clear but a bit rocky. The dive shop offers snorkels, boat rentals (kayaks, SUPs, and paddle boats), sand toys, sundries like sunscreen and tampons, and gear like hats and shirts and waterproof bags. They also offer snorkeling excursions departing from other nearby properties. Shout out to the attendant working the shop this week--he gave us great recommendations. No market or store on property--go into Red Hook (small nearby town) to the shops. Also, warning, you can't go to the glamorous property next door even to have lunch as they do not allow visitors on property. The two restaurants onsite were fine for our needs. One is pizza and sandwiches (Sangria's) and the other is more upscale (Caribbean Fish Market). But definitely recommend going into Red Hook to enjoy the local cuisine! I would recommend this hotel for a less expensive option than many competitors, especially if your party wants to go out and explore and do activities. The beach was the best we saw on the East End, and being close to Red Hook was a real plus. There are lots of options to take a boat road or the ferry to St. John and it's a pretty quick ride. If you want an immersive, pampered experience, this place isn't likely for you. But this is a good home base to enjoy all that USVI has to offer.

You have to wait around for golf carts to take you anywhere on property. Whick sometimes takes 1/2 hr. And bars and restaurants automatically add 18% gratuity to your tab. What is very interesting is that other dining options are still open around the island - it seems that Margaritaville is unique in that they were shut down. There was no where to get food within walking distance on site - I finally had to walk off of resort property to purchase chips at Louie's Market - pretty much a local 7/11 nearby, which I would not recommend. There is also only ONE place that delivers to the resort, per the concierge, Senor Pizza. I felt absolutely stranded. What really bothers me is that they did not tell me before checking in. They had my number, I had texted them the day before confirming my check-in time, but they could not warn me that there is no food or drinks on property. I felt completely misled and just stranded. Additionally, the beach is not usable at all. Seaweed is an issue on the island (especially the North and East); however, it appears the resort stopped attempting to control the problem. Then entire property smelled like rotting seaweed. I paid $977 per night for 2 nights. I spoke to extra holidays (what I booked through) that day and the resort and they were unwilling to give any refund. I tried to make it work but after waking up the next morning unable to find food or coffee within walking distance and smelling that awful seaweed smell, I had enough. We checked out and went to one of the many other resorts on the island with working beaches and open restaurants. Upon check-out, they did refund me for the night I was no longer staying; however refused to even give a slightly reduced rate for the first night. I cannot believe this resort charged me nearly $1,000 for one night with no nearby food or any semblance of an accessible beach. I also cannot believe how unhelpful staff was about this - hotel kept telling me there was nothing they could do about my charge, it was up to extra holidays. Extra holidays told me it was up to the hotel. I spent the first hours of my vacation being bounced back and forth and then had to hop in a cab for food. I understand we need to be flexible during COVID; however, I cannot believe I had no warning from the hotel and that they were so unwilling to recognize that they had no delivered any of the promised services other than a bed to adjust my rate. I am also very suspicious as to why only their restaurants and bars were shut down. We moved to the Ritz Carlton the next day and had a lovely experience. They have the same seaweed problem but are actively clearing it off of the beach each day. All of their restaurants are also open, they are restricting restaurants only to hotel guests and not permitting anyone to wait at a bar (need to sit an be served a drink, which they do very quickly). I am willing to spend on these trips as long as I can trust the brand. I have learned from this not to trust Wyndham/ Margaritaville.

Resort/Merchant Error I was double charged by the resort the day before my flight home. I don't think the resort cares or understands the amount of working hours and monetary sacrifice that goes into planning a 5 day all-inclusive trip here. I spent a good 3 hours with my bank, Sugar Bay's Anna, Laurel and Lissa trying to square things away. They needed me to sit with them while I called my bank since their software isn't sophisticated enough to see they charged a customer twice. So that morning on my all-inclusive trip I wasted at a small kiddie like table, killing my battery instead of enjoying the beach and sipping a rum punch. I figured I'd get some sort of compensation, voucher for an activity, or some damn breakfast because we sat there for so long but nope. All Sugar bay could tell me was they didn't know how this happened and most likely was their merchant. Aesthetics (Property) St. THOMAS IS GORGEOUS. Step outside and plants, trees, sky, the smell of rum and even those pesky grecos is amazing. Sugar Bay has a manmade beach but it works, and if it doesn't there's a ton of beaches you can travel to since you chose to stay at the cheaper resort. Like I've seen in other reviews there is construction taking place. It's an eye sore but they weren't really loud and only saw them in one spot (next to my room ofcourse). The newest owner is animal friendly so there's a bunch of cats around mainly on the steps by the pool. Aesthetics (Room) My water in the room (618) was the color between mustard and dirt. I let the water run for about 10 minutes and yup still had dirty water ready to contaminate me with whatever bacteria was floating around in there. I let the front desk know and they suggested I email reservations. Emailed Camille Aubain from reservations (Resagent1@sugarbayresortandspa.com) on 10/15/16. Then was instructed by the front desk to send an email to Chris (Reservations@sugarbayresortandspa.com). Neither one of them responded nor did anyone from their team. Also, don't come here expecting wifi because there is none. Staff performance The staff here is beyond friendly and accommodating! Especially Jennifer at the front desk, the bartenders, Executive Chef Peter, Chef Anthony, Jermaine, and all of the awesome ladies/gentlemen at the restaurant. I liked them all so much I almost want to go back (Almost but not). Feedback I can't stress enough that I would not stay here again. I would not recommend anyone else to stay here unless you planned to just eat, drink, and store your luggage here. Next time I'll spend a little more and stay at one of the other resorts.

The make staff acted as if it was a hassle, as if we were putting him out- for having to check us in. He continued to whine about it, verbally, and through his body language. It was unbelievable! He kept asking the other staff to deal with us, and complained about "slave labor". It was quite offensive. Finally after over an hour... we got our room. Room 425. Room: Security insisted on walking us to our room. I'm not sure why. To get in the room they give arm bands rather than room keys. The room was cooled down which was nice.
