The baked goods are delicious here, but the business is so poorly organized. We have a child who celebrates his birthday in Cape May every year. We have ordered cakes from Madison's for the past 4 birthdays. I always try to call ahead, but no one ever answers the phone. I have also tried to message on instagram to order ahead, to no avail. This year when I got to Cape May, I went straight to the bakery at 7 am but was turned away, because "I did not order ahead." When I told the employee that I tried calling multiple times but no one answers the phone, she said "Well we are really busy." Tough to order ahead of time if no one answers the phone and there's no online ordering option. If your business is so busy, then you should be adapting to the change. read more

The ring donuts here are perfect. They are fluffy , soft and fresh. They also have filled donuts but the ring donuts are my favorite. Plenty of flavors to choose from. I think the location by the beach is a little bigger and has a bigger selection. Definitely great to grab a quick breakfast and coffee. read more

Small establishment but tasty, very tasty treats. The staff was very good and suggestive as we were first timers. The cinnamon raisin bun heated up was absolutely to die for. I am probably coming back here again next summer for the awesome food. First, I got there famous sticky buns, a vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles, a croissant, and an iced vanilla latte. The people there were pretty nice and friendly. The sticky buns was gooey, soft and didn't had a stale hard exterior crust. The donut had wasn't to sweet and had gone well with the coffee. The croissant was buttery and flakey on the inside. The coffee was creamy, rich, and delicious, but I think they went to much with the milk. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. read more

A pleasant surprise on Beach Avenue is Madison Bakery. We originally were just headed out for a walk on a somewhat dreary July afternoon in Cape May. So thrilled with one of my new favorites in Cape May, Madison's Bakery. So much so actually that I visited 3 times in 8 days. My first love on visit number one was the peach cobbler muffin. It was so light and filled with peach. Absolutely loved it. The next day the blueberry muffin, sticky bun, and apple fritter were all hits. This past Saturday I went for it and just got a block of stickies and have now consumed 5 of those things in the past two weeks. Each one is like a little piece of heaven. I've probably only had sticky buns at a half dozen places (jersey shore and PA) but these are as good or better than any that I've had. They offer three styles, original, walnut, or raisin, but I stick with the original. The corner pieces are my favorite because the bun gets browned up perfectly and the cinnamon sugary topping falls over the edges. Again, heaven. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that. The donuts look awesome so I'll have to try those soon. Same faces are there working every time I go in. This is a small family joint that is powered by the mother of the family, cranking out somewhere between most and all of what you see up front. The hours say 7am-7pm, but I went by after 10 and saw them still open. That's a family that's here to serve the people as long as their still coming in. Can't respect that enough. Seeing how hard they work and the amazing quality that I've experienced, I hate seeing some of these brief, short sighted, below average reviews for a family run business working its tail off. Between Michael S. and Bob S. (possibly evil brothers?), who decided it was time for both of them to join Yelp this July to try and steer coffee and pastry seekers away from this place with subpar, fact lacking, poorly worded reviews, I can't tell who is worse. I posted the prices in a picture. See them for yourself. Don't take some fake Yelper's word for it, who is trying to get you to Avalon coffee. This home made stuff. Not mass produced. It's not going to be a 75 cent donut like Dunkin. If nothing else this place has without a doubt the best sticky buns in the area and is worth a stop for that alone and no where near what they reported. $25 after tax gets you 12 sticky buns. That's one of the best deals in Cape May for what you're getting. Do it. And ignore these lack-luster reviews that don't even tell you anything. read more

We've been here twice. The first time the young girl behind the counter couldn't be bothered and said it was too late to purchase anything (they were still open). The second time, which was July 2019, we paid about $6 for two medium-sized coffees (one had 1 shot of mocha since they didn't have any flavored coffees). After we left, we noticed Avalon Coffee around the corner which had a variety of coffee flavors. We're going there from now on. read more

Got there right after 7 when they opened line was already at the door . Grabbed a dozen assorted donuts and was on my way . The line moved fast , staff was friendly and donuts were great . I ordered a donut and a fritter. The young employee put them in a bag. I paid. I walked out and around the corner to the pedestrian mall to sit in the shade. I discovered that the employee was one for two. I went back to the bakery to tell him his mistake. He took out the wrong donut, PUT IT BACK INTO THE DISPLAY CASE, and gave me the correct donut. Since I had walked out of the bakery and out of sight, that donut should have gone in the trash. Even before Covid, this isn't exactly what I would call "best practice." ALLERGY FRIENDLY!!! They only put nuts on their sticky buns after they are made. Nothing else is made with nuts! One of the only donuts my nut allergic kid has been able to have.
